Our new little guy only lives about 3 miles away so I can pop by and see him anytime I want to. Don't worry, I always call first, lol. She graduated in December from KU so just kept her "college" job up until the baby was born. After a couple of months she'll probably look for her "career" job. She has a mktg. degree. I hope she doesn't go back too soon for her sake and the baby's too.
My weight is creeping up too but I know why. It's the same reason as it always is, lol. Bad eating!! And drinking!! But I've been having fun, lol. Tomorrow is my first book club meeting. I tried to read the book but I just couldn't get into it. I found out a lot of people didn't like it so I doubt I'm alone on the not reading it. My friend said they rarely even discuss the book anyway, lol, so I think I'm safe, lol.

Morning
Sandy, 3 miles is nice, you can see the baby as often as you like. I wish little Oliver was closer, 4 hours is just a little too long to make a day trip, 4 hours each way I mean. His mommy does hair color and teaches others to do it the Aveda way. She doesn't cut, etc., just a color specialist. Very good at what she does, wish I were close enough so that she could do mine too ![]() Didn't get very far with things yesterday so will work in my office again today, it just piles up so fast when I neglect it. I am listening/reading "The Other Queen" right now. Finished Sarah's Key, that was a very good book MK, thanks for suggesting it.

I read this book. It is a true story about a woman that adopted a blind cat and the things he teaches her about life. LOVED it! They have it at Costco.

I just finished this one also. Again, a true story of a British woman that went to live with an Afghan family as a writer for 3 months. It is a good day to day depiction of life for women there. I also just ordered "Kite Runner" from ebay.

The book for this time was The Scent of Rain and Lightning by Nancy Pickard. She's a local author and it sounded good but I don't like her writing style at all. Too wordy! And those words really add nothing to the story....except words and pages, lol. I kept losing any interest and finally gave up. I rarely ever do that either.
Cindy, that book sounds good. Thanks. |

That one looks good too. I'll choose the book at the next meeting so I have plenty of time to think of something.

I like true stories. I'm not a big reader but have had a lot of "airplane time" recently. Oh, and Sany, did you hear the Trader Joes in KC opens in April!! I can hardly stand it!!

I'm excited about TJoe's too and yes there will be 2. One at Ward Parkway and one on 119th Street. The WP location will be closer to your DD's house and you'll be able to buy wine there since it's in MO.
About 1/2 the women didn't like the Nancy Pickard book so I wasn't alone. Our next book is Girl With A Pearl Earring. I saw the movie but will still read the book. Next month I choose the restaurant and the book we read for the next meeting. We meet every other month so no big rush, which is nice. My youngest grandson got his acceptance letter to KU today. Woohooo! Now he needs to look into grants/ loans etc. Of course a price list didn't come with the letter, lol. |

I loved The Girl With the Pearl Earring.
The movie did not do it justice at all!! We read The Handmaid's Tale this month. Same as your group - 1/2 liked it and 1/2 didn't. It makes for a more interesting discussion that way!! Congrats to your DGS! |

Have fun Buffy!
MK, I now have several books on my "must read" list, lol. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. The Handmaid's Tale was mentioned last night as well so it's on my list now too. |

Hi ladies..
Congrats to your gson on getting into KU..I'm sure he will love it there..My dd enjoyed her years and met some great friends..I'm sure he will live in the dorms, right? Buffy: Sounds like a fun day.. MK: I hate taking cars to the shop..hopefully, it's nothing expensive. Sandy: The Ward Parkway will be close to dd and I'm sure she will partake of the wine.. Off to the hairdresser's..Did my exercise, Wallie run in the a.m..Then I will watch my Netflix Agatha Christie this afternoon. Got a corned beef..It said to boil it, but I am crossing my fingers as I put it in the crockpot at 11:00 on high and hoping it will be done by 6..Anyone have any experience with a crocked potted corn beef?

Morning and Happy St. Pat's Day.
DD #2 was born on this day, 43 years ago. They are in Colorado skiing for her birthday. DS got here yesterday, really enjoyed our visit with him last night and he is going to be in town until Sunday doing a trade show for his company, so I will get to see him again one evening. The other nights he will be with old friends, so nice to have him here. Today is taking DD's MIL and Aunt to lunch and a little shopping. |

We went for corned beef and 1 beer this evening. It was very good. DH gets the whole 9 yards; I get a reuben, lol. It's the only way I like corned beef. But I might like it crocked and potted, lolol.
