Can't believe it is exactly the same, LOL.

Mary Kay, you have done an awesome job, hang onto that 117 through Christmas and you have got it made.

Have you all noticed all the news about new research on losing weight that points toward more protein, less carbs??? How funny! And, WW rolled out their new plan this week with more emphasis on protein and fiber, fruits and veggies and less carbs.

Beautiful day here today, supposed to get up to almost 70 and then another "cold" front coming through. I really prefer it colder this time of year, this bouncing back and forth is hard.

I did put our electric blanket on the bed yesterday, really don't need it in TX but I like to turn the thermostat down a little at night and have a warm bed to get into. But, either electric blankets don't hardly heat anymore or I got a dud. I got it last year and it never did get very warm, even on high and this year it seems it barely warms the bed at all. Think I will check one out at the store and have them plug it in and see how warm they get. Has our government went too far to insure we don't roast ourselves?

Ok, I'm happy!!!
Nov 1 - 152.6
Dec 1 - 146

Amazing what happens when I actually try!! I really should try that more often I guess.

I just went back and checked my stats and Jan 1 I was at 151. The lowest I got this year before today was 147 so I'm really happier than I even realized, lol. Now to hold onto it; that's my challenge to myself.

Akk..I was 150.. I need to change my siggy..

I do think Sandy wins the Crown of Weight Loss for this month..(Can we call her the Biggest Loser??) And, everyone else did great, too, with only tiny "ups" and stay the sames, except for me. However, I am down from this time last year..a pound or two.

To lose over a year's time, at our ages, is fantastic. To maintain, even if it is at too high a weight is an accomplishment that I never had for years, it just kept going up, year, after year.
I seem to have maintained the loss I had when I found out I was diabetic and went on the meds for that, which really helped. Now, I think my goal for this next year should be to lose some more, even if it is only 5-10 lbs and to maintain that.
I think we all have done great, there are no major gains, and girls, if I can say that, weighing over 200, then you all should be very very proud of yourselves!!!

I think we're all great!! Buffy, you are so right. We should almost add a sub-title line to our group calling us Maintenance Queens or something. All of us have hovered very close to the same weight for as long as I can remember and that's major. And I also know that a lot of that success we've had is due to all of us staying right here on this thread supporting each other through all our ups and downs. It makes us accountable to each other enough to keep up plodding along. So let's here a big rah rah for us!!!!! Woohooooo.

And I'll be thrilled for you MK. That's quite an accomplishment. You should be proud of yourself, for sure!! I'd just like to live in my 140-145 bubble again, but I'm not complaining too much. I only have myself to blame and I must not want it very much or I'd do what it takes. And I might get that determination this next year to do just that. Who knows???

I know, MK..you did great this year..Honestly, you must have found the magic potion or the combo of foods that worked for you.. Or was it those many miles on the spin bike??

Sandy, you are so right...Anyone over 50 that can maintain or lose should be proud of herself..Providing the maintaining is within "normal" ranges. Just look around...I have
friends who were skinny in their youth are "bigger" than me..

So we'll start naturally using weight after we're 65??
I can't wait that long!
And i don't want to battle it for many more years!

Carolyn - the big jump was this summer when I was walking 3 times a day in the SC heat and not eating much at all.
Since then, it's been just trying to keep it off.

Many times, people that are naturally thin when they're young never learn how to eat correctly and really add weight later!

Sandy - I hear you can lose weight easily - I want to know your secret!

MK, my only secret weapon is just NOT eating carbs and if I do to drastically limit them. I just have really struggled the last couple of years avoiding carbs for very long at a time. I started off this last round by going on protein only for 3-4 days. Then it was T-giving. I ate that day, and I ate less the next day and less the next and next. Then Monday of this week I went back on protein only for 2 days and today I added in some veggies and a few nuts. I'm sure I'm going to level out now and slow wayyyyy down. I do consider myself pretty lucky that I can lose it pretty easy once I make up my mind. It's just getting that silly mind to listen to me!! That's the hardest part, lol.

Carolyn, that chart is confusing? What's the percentiles part of it mean?

I was down another 1.2# this a.m. I'm thinking the ACV and AVJ might have something to do with this?? I've been taking them religiously for the last couple of weeks. Which is the same time frame since we started that last challenge to eat clean until T-giving. Since then I've lost 11.6 pounds!! Now remember, probably at least 3 of those pounds were water/bloat from a bad few days right before we started the challenge, but even so, that's still surprising to me. I'm taking the ACV and AVJ for GERD but hey, if it'll help with weight loss, wooohoooo!! It's helping the GERD too, BTW.

Good Morning my dear friends

Good discussion. MK, you have exercised a LOT in the past year and I do believe that is the secret of your successful drop, it takes muscle to burn calories and we all know that exercise is the key to building muscle.

Sandy, wow, 10 lbs is a lot, good for you. Protein good, carbs bad, nuf said.

Carolyn, you are so right on learning how to eat as young people. I was one of those naturally thin young uns and I ate whatever I wanted and I always had a very big appetite. When I hit my 20's I began to struggle with weight and have ever since. Overeating, eating the wrong things, I have learned good nutrition but it is still hard for me to follow it.

Hair today, then a little shopping and then a boutique where I shop and know the owner is having their VIP customer Christmas party tonight, so a friend and I are going to that. There will be goodies there that I will have to avoid.

Hi gang..

I need to keep my vinegar out..It's hard to drink it first thing in the a.m...But, I do think that is really helping you, Sandy..And, maybe the GERD was telling you that you weren't
digesting right.. So glad you are feeling better..

On the chart: Start with your weight at 20 on the left and follow it throughout the years.
So, the "hill" in the middle is menopause with all those hormonal things happening and the downhill slope is probably muscle wasting away....LOL

MK: Wowo..alot of exercise does help..A little exercise maintains our muscle, I think.

Buffy: I know those Christmas parties are fun, but can be so darned tempting.. You will do fine, I'm sure.

Cindy: How is your horse son doing???? How are you both doing???

Carolyn, quick tip. I bought some diet cranberry drink, 5 cals per svg, and mix the acv and avj in that to disguise the taste. I even have DH using the avj!! And I bet you're right; now I'm actually digesting

Sweet boy is good. I picked up Pumpkin's ashes and put them in the basement until I find a good urn that doesn't look too urn-y, if ya know what I mean. That pic I posted of the 2 of them was 1 of about 5 good pics when he came to visit her this past summer. He loved his mama and would always chase the other horses back so they couldn't stand next to her.

Up since 3 am with work but I'm fine otherwise. Thank you for asking.

Morning.
Love the stories about animals and their babies. The mother cat of our outdoor cat, who has been missing for over a year, showed up the other day with a new baby in tow. I told DH that she was bringing the new baby to him to raise, but alas, they were just around for a day and have disappeared again. Seems she just has 1 baby at a time? She is really a small cat.
There is a big modeling agency in Dallas that signed my 2 little grandchildren a couple of months ago. They called DGD 11 months for a photo shoot yesterday, one of 6 kids. If they choose any of her shots, she will be in a JC Pennys flyer between Jan. 15th and Valentine's day. They they emailed last night that they want her back next Tues. for another shoot. DD just thought it might be fun to try it out, it would be fun to see her picture in an ad.
That is a great idea Sandy of putting the ACV and AVJ in the diet drink, although I can chug Bragg's ACV by itself when I have heartburn. They say to watch out for the acid on your teeth so if you take it regularly, you might want to rinse with water after.
At the party last night I had some fruit and raw mushrooms, ate dinner before I went so was not tempted by the other goodies.

Vic wouldn't leave his mothers side. Some other horse might stand next to her. Once a mama's boy, always a mama's boy!

Hi ladies..

Gosh, I exercised for about 90 minutes..If I have someone to talk to, it goes really fast.
I don't think the elliptical machine is correct on the calorie burn, though..

Yup, Paint would stand right next to Sheba (mom) horse..It was really cute, even though
there weren't any horses around for miles..LOL.

Buffy: Well, that little mother cat having one kitten at a time is so cute.. She was smart and could give each her personal attention. Wow..We get Penney's flyers all the time..So, let us know which one they are in..So fun.

I'm going to start my cards today.. I have to have tv on or something on while I am doing it, so it goes fast.

I love roasted veggies..Dd did a combo of asparagus and brussels sprouts tossed with
olive oil and salt. Of course, she cut them up and they were very nommie..Anyone do
roasted veggies????

AVJ= aloe vera juice

Yes, Buffy, I'm careful with the acid. I think mixing it helps a lot with that too.
I hope we get to see your little darlin' in a Penney's ad! How sweet.
And how cute about your mama cat bringing the baby home to show it off.

Carolyn, good for you! I hardly even do cards anymore. A very few to people I don't see, but the rest, nope!

Cindy, I bet Vic is lonesome now. I really feel like animals grieve too. Give him an extra carrot or lump of sugar from me, ok?

Yesterday I fell off the treadmill.
My thigh (where I banged it) is still sore.

Today I sliced my thumb.
After it wouldn't quit bleeding for 3 hours (because I HAD to go to Spin), I finally went to Urgent Care.
Tetanus shot and a pressure bandage as well as antibiotics.

But I had too many errands to go home and feel sorry for myself.
So . . . library, Walgreen's, Target, Kroger, . . . . now I'm home and feeling sorry for myself!

Carolyn - I bet the calories are close!!

Sandy - does AVJ help with weight loss too or just GERD?

Buffy - so cool! Let us know for sure!!

Cindy - I'm so sorry for both of you!
I'm sure he's grieving!!

MK!! You are Iron Woman!!!

IDK if it's good for weight loss. I didn't know ACV was either, but I take them both for GERD.

Take care of yourself this weekend. Be careful.

OMygoodness, MKay..ouchie, ouchie..I bet that hurt like the devil. You probably hit some important vessel in there..You have had quite a day, my dear....and falling off the treadmill? You must have been really zooming..

Sandy: I've been doing the ACV..since I remembered..I made a hot drink out of it..I think the cold is better. I forgot to get the cranberry juice, but I'll be back to Wallie soon.

Dh is almost at work from driving all day. He forgot the keys to the truck at work..So,
we have to drive up with them..I think I'll blackmail him for a meal..LOL..
