Keeping my fingers crossed for Brett. And praying I can stop my downward spiral that I've started. Ugh!!! I really NEED to hold onto this weight for the holidays. I don't care if I lose anymore but I sure don't want to gain it all back. I've got a horribly stressful situation I'm dealing with right now so I'm really struggling. I can't share the details and it's not life or death so please don't worry about me. But please send up a few prayers for my son's family if you think of it.

I think a cookie exchange sounds really fun!!

My DH had to go to a pain mgmt. clinic today for his back. Remember when he fell a year ago last Labor Day and got a stress fracture in his back??? Well it's reared it's ugly head and is bothering him again. I so hope this works for him. They did an epidural and he might have to have another one or two.

Buffy, the carriage ride sounds lovely! I'd love to do something like that!

Who wants to take bets on whether any of MK's cookies actually make it to the freezer How many of your kids are home MK? The year's that I went, the cookies were so yummy that we ate them all before Christmas ever got here.

Glad Brett's interview went well. Talked to my niece in Iowa today who starts her new job here on Jan. 5th. She was thinking she had to get a place to move into before then but I told her she was very welcome to stay with us while she kind of got a feel for where she wanted to be, the only downside of that is that it is going to be quite a drive for her until she does find a place closer to work. But, DD#2 has also offered to have her stay at her house some as well and she is very close to where she will be working.

Oh, Sandy, prayers for your ds's family are going up. I hate it when "kids" have concerns and problems..It hurts my heart alot. Hugs to you, too..

Akkk..I am up to 152..What the heck??? I am going to my thyroid doctor on Monday and hoping she will up the dose..The meds I got from India seemed to keep my weight in check..I am on Westhroid..I'll be interested in seeing what my blood work says..She knows how to read the charts..

KSU is playing in KCity on Dec. 21..Went to get tix, too late..I'm kinda glad cuz it is close to Christmas.

Prayers for Sandy's dh's back...Ouch..I can feel his pain..

Buffy: Is this a 6 month internship??? with hopes of getting hired for real? If she can stay with family for a while, it might be a good thing. But driving in the winter isn't fun, either..

Any cookies left, MK?

Dianne and I are going to Bartlesville for a tiny bit of Christmas shopping..

Question: Do you try to keep the gifts even between everyone? I try to..My motherinlaw was a stickler for that..And sometimes you would get the rest of
your gift allotment in a check for $17..LOL

For whomever is struggling with their weight - I know a great eating plan.
It's called EFGT . . . .

Buffy - Congrats to your niece! And there's still cookies left, and I don't really want to freeze them . . . .

Carolyn - I try to keep the # of gifts the same but not always the $ amount.

Sandy - whatever it is -

Morning,
Carolyn, Allisons internship is for 5 months with hope they will offer her a full time position. She will want her own place but if she can stay with us for a bit, it will help her have time to figure out where she wants to look, etc. and of course help her a little money wise.
When the kids were small, I tried to keep number of gifts equal and spend about the same, now I try to give the same "value" of gift to each grandchild. If I happen to find something at a great sale price that is what I wanted, then I just feel like I have lucked out. I do give the 2 oldest ones more as I just give them money and I don't see them through the year to buy things for them like I do the ones here in TX, plus, they are both at the age where they really need the money.
Sandy, thoughts and prayers for your family!!
cindy, I want to be at your cookie exchange, yummy!
Think I am going to get out and shop some more this afternoon, although I really want to stay home and get things done around here. Hmmm, both home and shopping need to be done.
Talked to DB in the nursing home yesterday. Since they didn't have a private room when he moved in, they put him in an empty semi-private but as luck would have it, they put someone in there with him yesterday and now it is very crowded. Hopefully, this won't last long and he can get a private room.

Hi..

Oh..Brett didn't get the job yesterday..The recruiter called him..They didn't think he was a good fit..which is better than waiting around forever. And the recruiter has his name for other opportunities, too.

My coat came..long raspberry one from Bean's..It fits great, so I don't have to send it
back and try again..I won't wear it until Christmas.

Thank you to all of you. No good news to report yet so prayers are still needed.

I wish I'd done the 1 gift per grandkid but too late.....that boat has already sailed, lol. I'm for sure changing that with the new great-grandchild. I hope.

My weight is back up too! I only have myself to blame, of course. Maybe this week I'll get it back down since I have my prep days for my colonoscopy, lol.

I have to wait on Amazon to see what Santa will bring and what I'll wrap for the kids.

We went to see The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest movie last night and then out for drinks after. We didn't get home until after midnight!
Today I need to wrap some gifts and try to get organized.
Tonight is an open house down the street and then tomorrow, I'm not leaving home!

Morning.
Yes, I am so thankful we started out with one gift per grandchild as we are already up to 10 with #11 due any minute. And this year we quit buying for the adults, so it is much less stressful and much less work than in the past. I feel somewhat like a scrooge but talked it over with the kids and they all agreed that we had gotten to the point where we were basically just exchaning gift cards, etc. and they were all for less shopping and stress as well. Except for my DstepD, she loves to shop and she wasn't too happy about it but they are the ones who go way, way, way overboard on gifts and so it was/is impossible to try to figure out what to give them anyway. So, I have 5 more gifts to buy, the gifts to wrap as soon as DH gets the wrapping out of the attic and send a check off to my oldest 2 in NE, at 17 and 18, the both need and like some money to spend.

Home again today, finishing up getting organized for next week. I thought about shopping a little today but realized how crazy that was when I can go on a weekday! Duh!

Carolyn, the sales on clothing this fall have been fantastic. I have a number of things I got at Chico's, all came off their sale racks, had a coupon in addition, wow, it really hasn't cost much to have some new looks. TJMaxx of course is one of my favorite places as well.

Have a great weekend everyone!

I am making my Brownie Torte for a church carry-in lunch tomorrow..Its easy and it always goes quickly..I put SF on the dish...Lots of diabetics in our church..

I do like the one gift per grandchild idea..I am buying dd's cat a new blanket..LOL..

Sandy..you can start the one gift rule with great grands..LOL.

Yes, the sales are wonderful. I don't buy my dd clothes as she doesn't want them now and it is hard to figure out the size, too..and the style..

Question: Do you find yourself doing something your parents did??? Gary has started drinking hot water at work..(coffee bothers him)..LOL.His dad did that for years and
he always laughed about it. I started collecting coats..like my mom..LOL

Beautiful chilly day here, think I will catch a movie while my cleaning lady comes. Otherwise, no big plans.

I did a spin class for 110 minutes, rode 40 miles and burned 1503 calories - according to my heart monitor!

I'm tired.

We only got 1" of snow, but it's cold.
High today 26°.
High tomorrow 13°!!

Today I need to address my Christmas cards and I'm watching The Defenders.
Cute show.

Brrrrr, frigid here too. We went to church and so far that's about it. We're meeting friends later for dinner at one of our fav Italian places. It's always warm there so I'm looking forward to that.

It's supposed to be even colder tomorrow. I'm done with winter now. It can go away anytime now.

Good morning all..

Boy, MK, you are getting the cold weather..and I hate the wind when it is this cold.
I think our temps might be a little higher, but not much.

Exercise, bring a lunch to a post surgery gal (I'm buying a wrap at the hfstore), then
lunch with Newcomers and doctors appointment. I hate to go to the dr. after a big lunch..LOL. I'll be anxious how my thyroid is working.

Glad you liked that clip of Anita..She is a real fruitcake.

Morning
Wow MK, looks like a heat wave coming your way mid-week!!!!

Chilly and sunny here.

My poor cousin in Iowa had a bad weekend, went to babysit her DGD 7 because both parent's are nurses and the mother was on call and the father wanted to go deer hunting. Got there Fri. night and the little girl was just getting over a stomach flu, which they knew about, the next day the SIL got up early, went out into the drizzling rain and came back later, drenched, no deer and now he was sick with the flu. Then they got a call that my cousins's MIL, almost 90 has passed away. So, Sunday they headed back home to deal with that and got home after a bad ride through Iowa with high winds, cars off in the ditch, blowing snow to a house where their heat had gone off, it was 9 degrees out and the pipes in one of the bathroom had froze. Poor things, it all hit at once.

Supposed to meet a friend for lunch today, waiting to hear from her. I adore her but she is a nutcase so won't know until the last minute if she will make it or not!!

Got 3 more grandkids finished up on gifts yestreday and went to see The Tourist. Cute, but pretty much fluff and a little slow.

You're brave MK. My poor puppy didn't get a walk. She did get to go for a ride with me as I ran a few quick errands and even got a treat at the drugstore drive through. She's happy.

Buffy, what a nightmare those poor people have lived this weekend. I hope they're done with the bad luck now.

And I think I have a friend like that, lol. I never count on her until I see her coming, lol. I love her too and have learned to live with it. It's so unlike me it's hard sometimes, but I do love her.
