Who is actually following this plan?

I see a lot of post on the challenge thread but it doesn't look like most people are following the plan.

I'm just curious about the success rate for weight loss.

I know quite a few on the "official" EFGT monthly thread are following it. There is no doubt you can lose weight on it but it depends on your dieting style. Fat doesn't keep me full. A heavy protein diet does for me so I didn't care for the diet but many do well on it. I think it is not uncommon for people to try a particular plan, then end up staying with that group because of formed friendships. I really don't fit any group guidelines as I eat about 20% fat, 40% protein, 40% carbs and 1400 calories.

I'm not following a specific diet plan. I have experimented with my diet to see if the majority of my calories, deriving from healthy fats (coconut, butter, avocados, etc.) would benefit my body, lifestyle, energy and mood. It doesn't.

That is not to say that it doesn't work for some. If you look into something called [I]Nutritional Typing[I], you'll see that certain ratios of macronurients are needed for different people in order to optimize their health. I do well on a higher protein (keeps me full as well Cindy), followed by fat, and then a moderate amount of carbs (only from vegetable sources, and moderate amounts fruits--very rarely will I sprout and cook legumes, quinoa or buckwheat).

If you are interested in trying this plan, then go for it! The only way to know if it will benefit you is if you experiment. Believe me, I've experimented a lot, lol. I have found what works for my body, what keeps my weight down (no gluten, sugar, processed foods, etc.) and what helps me achieve the massive amounts of energy I need for the day.

I hope you find what works for you, and the support you need here!

I follow it - sort of.

What learning about this WOE did for me is that I'm no longer afraid of fat.
I realize it keeps me full!
I still shy away from white carbs and try to adhere to a LC lifestyle.

This was a great learning experience.

I try to stick to it too when I'm actively trying to lose. I was maintaining for so long I got very lazy and a few pounds starting creeping up. So lately I've been staying more strict to plan. It does work, if you work it. Just like all of them. But everybody knows their own body and how it reacts to what they eat so it might not be for everyone. You would just have to give it a try to see if it's for you.

And yes, on the challenge thread for this WOE we discuss everything and have become great friends so we accept all diet plans because we know how people sometimes need to shake things up. We usually all come back around to EFGT eventually in some way, shape or form.

I do tend to eat a little higher protein b/c I think it holds me longer. But I avoid all the bad carbs as best I can at any given moment. Which is to say, I'm not perfect, but keep trying.

If you're interested, jump in and join us. We love everybody!!

Yes, this! I learned a lot about fats and have no fear now But this was a little too high fat for me.......and too restrictive on protein but I eat more protein than most. Not most on this board but more than average. I eat closer to 100 grams a day and I think EFGT limits it to 60 roughly.

Cindy - You're so lucky you're tall!
I'm lucky to get 1200 calories if I want to lose!

I'd like to think it's because I weight lift and have maintained my muscle mass. I want to believe that so I feel I have control over my weight. I could be living in a fantasy.

I do weights 3 days a week with a trainer, but that's probably not enough to to consider myself a weight lifter!
I'm sure that's kept your metabolism up! WTG!!

I'd starve on 1200 cals!! I can eat quite a few cals a day too. I guess I'm lucky. I do lift but I certainly wouldn't call it power lifting and I haven't even been doing much of that this summer. Any little thing comes along and I cancel my workout. Not Good!! It must be because you're so tiny MK. I'm pretty tall too although not as tall as Cindy I don't think. I'm 5'7", although I might be a bit shorter due to shrinkage now, lol.

I've done nutritional typing and I'm definitely the PROTEIN type.

I've started following this this week again (been on it before).

The first 3 days I've lost 3 pounds. And that's with 1600 calories so yes, my body likes this.

Hi Dharma, Are you the Dharma that used to post on our EFGT thread a long time ago? I think it was that thread. Shoot, I've been on so many, lol, but I remember your name. Welcome back, if it's you and welcome regardless. We have a monthly challenge thread too. Not a whole lot of challenge involved but we've all become great friends and all hang out there. And we welcome all newcomers.

Hey Sandy - yes it's me. I started a new thread "Long time no see" - it's been a while since I've been here. Trying to start fresh and re-connect with y'all.
