Yep I agree. The Jayhawks didn't come to win and they missed way too many shots. Sloppy. Oh well that game totally freed up the rest of March for me, lol. Now I'm going to root for the Cat's!

My weight is up today. Too many appetizers and beer. And now dinner at DGD's today.

I need to find out how my dad's AC1 has been going. The Dr. checks it every time he goes and his BS is always around 95-110 first thing in the a.m. And he doesn't check it any other time during the day.

Cindy, that's so nice and sounds like such fun. Have a wonderful time!!

[QUOTE=Buffy45;13278136]Morning peeps!

Gord, if you are a strong willed person, you can control most beginning diabetes with a low carb diet and the metformin. I tried that at first and did really well for about 6 months and then got to slipping. The doctor explained to me how important it is to keep that A1C down and your BS in control and I decided that I would go ahead and take the other drug, in my case byetta shot, and keep it down and not have to be quite as diligent about the low carb. If you don't keep it in tight control, it begins to damage your organs and that is what you don't want.
Interesting comparison, my cousin and I, same age, same weight, pretty much same in everything both got diabetes about the same time. She takes just the metformin and tries to eat the standard diabetic diet she was taught and her A1C keeps slowly inching upward. By taking the byetta, I don't have to eat as carefully and my A1C is inching downward. I am now 5.4 and she is 6.2. Each person and their doctor has to decide how to proceed.

Thanks Buffy i am just waiting to get back A1c results and then well take to Dr. about how to proceed I really hope she is open to a low carb diet, but well cross that bridge when i get to it. My BS was not bad this morning was 5.9 ===104 and 7.8 == 140 2 hrs after eating not great but a little better Have a great day ALL

Good day today! DS17 rallied and the sun even came out in Chicago.
Good thing since it's raining down here!

No snow at least!

I'm ready for Spring!

Well, gang, I may have to stop eating fat until I can figure out what is going on?!?

I have only been EFGT for one week and my stomach is sooo bloated, I almost couldn't put my jeans on!!! I am down 3 lbs since Sun, have been regular and I am drinking water like clockwork, so I can't figure what the problem could be??? Has anyone else experienced this? Further, last night and the night before, I also had a horrible case of indigestion and a bit of nausea.
Does this sound like IBS? I would love to make this work for me.

Morning!

Wow Sunday - no clue!
Hopefully Carolyn will know.

Weird dreams last night and so I'm exhausted today!

I want/need "Michelle Obama" arms, so I made an appointment with the scariest trainer at the gym today. I'm going to her 8:15 circuit class to learn some new moves. Spinning is taking care of my lower half, but my arms need to be ready for shorter sleeves!

Mary Kay~ I am working on my arms also. I am doing callanetics and kettle bells. I am determined to be sleeveless this summer!!!

I am going to make an appt with my MD, if I don't see the bloating leave soon. I am post menopause, so it isn't that. I eat a few tbsp of coconut oil every day. I know that could not be the issue?

Sunday, cut down on the fat and see how it goes..Do you have a gallbladder?? Some peeps who have had theirs removed have a hard time with fat. It's okay to cut back a bit and see what happens. I think dairy cream is probably the most bloating..

MK: I think resistant bands are good for our arms..Mine have improved slightly by using them at the gym. Good luck..Let us know how the trainer is..Don't be scared..

Our snow is melted practically..thank God..Now we have mud..Ds got home safe and sound. All of us are going to Manhattan for Easter. We used dh's priority club points for the Holiday Inn..I guess I'll have to buy some Easter candy for the children..

I was 149 today...Praise the Lord..Just watching carbs is doing it for me..and of course protein.

Hugs all around..Heading to exercise.

YUP...It's the coconut oil..Because it is the detoxing of the coconut oil..
Google it and see what you find.

My weight is going the wrong direction! I'm kind of glad B-Ball is over for us now. No more watch parties. I get myself into trouble at those. This is going to be a very challenging next 2 weeks but I'm going to at least try to hold my own and then have a fresh start.

They say arm dips are great for the arms.

Sandy: Did you read the story on Frank Martin in yesterday's paper? How he was healed by a nurse/angel on his death bed? What a testimony to the faithfulness of God..

Now I really have to go exercise..

Morning.
Busy couple of days ahead of me so I can get things done and be ready to go to Colorado with the kids to be MemaNanny.
I think the whole US buys Easter candy, hmmm, for the kids LOL
Carolyn, what paper was that in about Frank Martin, I love to read about that type of healing.
Sunday, I agree with Carolyn, back off of the coconut oil and see if that helps, especially if this is something new you are doing. You have to introduce it slowly or you can have problems with it. It has some great healing properties and can be good for you but ease into it. And, some people find that if they add that to their LC WOE, they stop losing weight, even though it is touted for weight loss. For most, calories do count.
Gord, your morning numbers and 140 2 hours after a meal is where they told me they want me to be, so that sounds good.
Carolyn, I think without your self control, you would definitely be a diabetic soon, you sound just where my sister is with your numbers.
MK, I have Michelle's arms, in fact I have 4 of them, 2 on each side of me, but since I have 2 on each side, they are much softer and puffier, so that they blend well. And wave well, and jiggle well, and I must admit, I just cover the old ladies up, they are so disgusting. Arms seem to take a lot of, lot of, lot of work, I even see a lot of thin ladies that have jiggly upper arms that wave on their own. Why, why, why??? What is the point of our bodies turning to flab? Hmm, guess it is our own doing but GEEZ!
Sandy, you have a hard month going on to lose, try to just control and maintain. DD#2 just joined WW the week before her birthday, talk about asking for trouble!!! But, she lost 1 lb. Trying to get that baby weight off, she really is doing well but thought WW would give her a little added push. She is nursing so has to eat right and enough.
Later gang

What are your hormone levels? High estrogen levels cause abdominal fat but not acutely. Are you eating a lot of fiber because too much of the wrong kind can sure cause bloating. And I agree with Carolyn on the cream. Possibly you have exceeded your lactose threshold.

I have those jiggly arms but I sure don't keep them hidden. I can't stand to be hot so I wear my sleeveless tops and if somebody doesn't like my arms, well they don't have to look, lol.

Wonderful story on Frank! That is truly miraculous!

Carolyn, thank you for reminding me about the EVCO. I am cutting down on all dairy fats for now until I can figure this out.

Cindy, I do not know anything about my hormone levels, but I will try and find out. It does not seem to be fat as much as bloat. Sort of like being full of air? I am thorougly enjoying eating this way, but I am going to have to make sure I don't overdo the dairy fats.

Morning All, Found a great recipe on Smitten Kitchen for Honey Cake. A super dense, spice cake with a cup of honey. I am going to make it for the BF and my BFF that I am seeing tomorrow.

Snow is melting here. It may finally begin to look like Spring.

MK, hope your day goes well.

That cake sounds very yummy! I'm sure they'll love it.

Lunch with a friend today. I got to pick the place so I'm having breakfast, no toast or potatoes. This is the beginning of the birthday challenges for the next week.

It's another beautiful day here so I'm planning on a nice long walk this afternoon. Maybe that'll walk off the omelet I'm planning on eating for lunch/brunch.

MK, have a good day.

Morning
Honey cake? Now that just has to be GOOD!
Last minute things to do here to be ready to go tomorrow and to be gone from here for 5 days. Will have to take computer this time as I have some work to do and can do that while baby is napping.
Pretty day here today, snow on Sat. and 70 degrees today, crazy world.
Happy Birthday week Sandy, or if you can, stretch it into 2-3 weeks.
MK, good luck with Mom day.
Sunday, how long have you been eating that much coconut oil? It is good at removing toxins from your body, but at first you can react to it like you are with the bloating, etc., then wham, your body will let go, KWIM?

This has nothing to do with EFGT but if you have trouble with your nails, try taking biotin. I had been wearing fake nails for quite a long time b/c my own nails were soooo weak, soft, splitting, etc. I took the nails off in Dec. and started taking 5000mcg of biotin the first of January. My nails are now starting to look fabulous. Very healthy nailbed and strong nails that are growing. Oh, and my other beauty tip of the day, I recently read to use used dryer sheets to remove nail polish, it works beautifully. Has to be a used dryer sheet, but who doesn't have plenty of those puppies around?

Have a great day all and Gord, hope you enjoyed my beauty tips

Hi everyone..

MK: Those Mom days come fast and furious it seems..How is she doing???

Sandy: Yikes..when is your birthday???? That is always a dangerous time for all of us..and the end of the year things..and Easter...

Buffy: My nails are a mess..Heading to the store for biotin later on. I always blamed my thyroid, but it's medicated now, so I need biotin.. Can't wait to have decent nails..And those dryer sheets.. Great idea..

Cindy: You make the bestest cakes..Honestly, have you tried Paula Deen's
Gooey Butter Cake??????? I think there is a lemon one and a pineapple one.
They are deadly......

Sunday: That EVCO really kills the yeast in your system and many peeps
have a big die-off which..think about it..It's like a big balloon of air in your tummy..

Gord: I hope you hear from the doctor soon...

My real birthday is next Tuesday and there's no way I'd survive 2-3 weeks of celebrating, lol. I have to bake for the K of C Shrimp dinner this Friday. I might make one of Paula's gooey cakes. I love them!!

I bought some of those MBT knockoffs today and while I was walking I could sure feel a difference. I hope they help me. My knee wasn't hurting afterward like it has been so maybe they'll be a good thing.

Buffy, have fun on your trip. It sounds like it will be. But I think all trips are fun. Mostly.
