Yes lots of Bball here too. DSIL and DGS both have their brackets all filled out and watching very closely. And there's not much else on. I've actually been shopping for a new computer online this evening. I think I found the one I want. Now I just have to pry the $$ loose from my fingers and go get it, lol.

Hi gang,
Kansas did have a good day at the NCAA..On the other brackets, I like it when the underdog wins, don't you??? Sandy: I know...but you will love a new puter.. MKay: Busy day..the chef demonstration sounds like fun..and of course, lunch with a friend is the best. For me..exercise, then Brett is helping me get Alex in his carrier to take to the vets for a blood test. I don't think I'm going to get his teeth cleaned because of his kidney condition..Too risky for me. He is on 2 meds now..which works out fine and I have finally found a crunchy food he will eat for Renal conditions and a soft food that he will eat..(The soft food comes from the internet..Purina Renal). LOLO.. Have a great day everyone.

Good luck with Alex and yes I do like to see the underdogs win or at least come very close. I can't believe all the OT games yesterday and Lehigh really had nothing to be ashamed of last night. N. Iowa played hard too so we better be on our toes tomorrow as well. I don't think any of these games are going to be a walk in the park for any of the teams.
My weight is stuck at 149! And it's all my own fault. It's not going to get much better though I'm afraid with the rest of this month's activities. B-Ball, my birthday luncheon, my birthday family dinner, my real birthday and then Easter right after. That's a whole lot of temptations so I hope I can at least stay stuck where I am now through it all.

Morning peeps.
Still trying to get caught up here, will be just in time to leave again next week. Gord, sounds like you have diabetes to me. It seems the drug most people go on first, at least around here, is metformin. Some can control their BS well with that and diet/exercise. I take that and the Byetta shot which I love and get great control with. My A1C keeps inching downward since I started Byetta. I like both a Reisling (sp?) and a Asti, but my fave white wine of the moment is sav blanc, I like a dryer wine. Cut way way back on drinking reds b/c my teeth were wine colored, yuck! Grilling steaks tonight, first night home all week for both DH and I.

Well, we made it back to the vet today..Too bad ds22 didn't come in..Very cute vet student from KSU working there during Spring Break..Anyway, Alex's bloodwork is about the same, so that's good..I'm not having the teeth cleaning done..too dangerous. So, back in 3 months..I watched them take the blood out of Alex's arms..He was very well behaved..best patient of the morning..
Gonna iron and watch some Bball. Brett has a wedding to go tomorrow..and the snow is supposed to come in..Hope it doesn't spoil their day... |

Yes, I am, or I used to be anyway. Like I said, I'm getting old, lol. My brain hurts easier now, lol. I'm just going to take my time and actually "read' the directions for a change. I usually just plow ahead but it's been awhile since I've set up a whole new system and now with a whole new operating system I want to make sure I know what I'm doing and what I've done when I'm finished. It'll prolly take me a week!!

Well, I actually trust me more than them, lol. So I'll just plod along. I think I'll be fine if I just take my time. My impatience is my biggest downfall.

I got a Toshiba Satellite with a 17" screen. It's almost too big!! But I'm sure I'll adjust.
We have about 6-7" of snow right now and it's still snowing hard! KS plays at 4 I think and then K-State after. This St. Mary's Villanova game is exciting. I have to go make my dip to take to the BBall party later. You all have a wonderful day and evening. |

I got one of those for Christmas but it is a 18.5" screen!! I love that computer! I have a Netflix account and have started watching "Lost" from season 1 as I have never seen it. Really good show.
At work today till the morning. I just finished up booking a 10 day trip to Orlando for my BFF's 15 year old daughter, her 16 year old BFF and myself. We are going to spend 10 days doing the Disney stuff as Mom is too sick to join us. I rented a 3 bedroom house with a private enclosed swimming pool so it should be fun. The 3 of us LOVE roller coasters so i will probably come back hoarse from the screaming!!

Great time last night at the school auction!
I won a bartender's basket (even had a blender in it!), a BBQ basket - told DH Happy Father's Day! - and 2 really cool brass antique bookends. Then in a drawing I won a doggy basket - so Copper is thrilled too. Lots of rawhide and squeaky toys. Even a collar and leash! So a good time was had by all! Sandy - I'll make a note of that name! And please keep your snow!!! Cindy - That will be so much fun!! We're supposed to visit Benedictine University near Chicago today - a college trip for DS17. But he woke me up about 30 minutes ago with an upset stomach. I gave him some Tums and I'm now waiting before my shower . . . . It's 3 hours away and I'm not going if he feels puny!

Morning peeps!
Woke up to snow again, in TX!!! In March!!! So totally unheard of, wow. Kim, very nice of you to take the kids on that trip, I am sure your friend truly treasures you. Gord, if you are a strong willed person, you can control most beginning diabetes with a low carb diet and the metformin. I tried that at first and did really well for about 6 months and then got to slipping. The doctor explained to me how important it is to keep that A1C down and your BS in control and I decided that I would go ahead and take the other drug, in my case byetta shot, and keep it down and not have to be quite as diligent about the low carb. If you don't keep it in tight control, it begins to damage your organs and that is what you don't want. Interesting comparison, my cousin and I, same age, same weight, pretty much same in everything both got diabetes about the same time. She takes just the metformin and tries to eat the standard diabetic diet she was taught and her A1C keeps slowly inching upward. By taking the byetta, I don't have to eat as carefully and my A1C is inching downward. I am now 5.4 and she is 6.2. Each person and their doctor has to decide how to proceed. Carolyn, glad Alex was a good little guy at the doctors office. Sandy, I love, love, love getting a new computer. Yours sounds very nice and like you, I like to set my own up, that way you know how to fix things. The last one I got, I hired someone to come to the house and do it all, the first time I had a problem, I had to call him back to help me figure it out, I had no idea how he had hooked this to that, that to what, etc., etc. And you are right, just take you time doing it so it doesn't ovewhelm you. They are so much easier than when we first started getting home computers. MK, sounds like you did ok at the auction, those can be a lot of fun. Hope DS17 gets to feeling better soon. Is he a junior or a senior? My DGD senior has decided on her college and is happy she got into the honors dorm, she is a great student and was happy to be with others who will be serious about studying. She is going close to home where her dad has taught for years, although he is leaving in March to go to another college. Not sure yet what I am going to do today. So much needs done, so little interest in doing the work, LOL |

Hi everyone..
Hi Buffy:Good for you on your bsugars.. I'm on the cusp..so without meds (except for a few supplements) I have to eat perfectly to keep my bsugar lower..The other night I had a tiny piece of bread and some spaghetti and it was at 140..(which isn't horrible, but just showed me how much carbs affect your bsugar)..Sandy: On the KU game, dh thought that UNI wanted it more..and he thought that KU thought they could catch up..like they normally do. However, having another giant to face Aldrich was threatening. Ds is going back to KSU today..Prayers for safe travel for him..He said he couldn't start his car after the wedding yesterday, but he had a thing in the trunk that jumpstarted him..So, this afternoon..off to Wallie World for a new battery..My rule is if you car doesn't start once..get a new battery immediately.. I was 150 this morning...I feel skinnier..this is a good thing. |
