Well, 48 hrs ago she was chewing on one of her bones and just stopped all of a sudden and wouldn't eat or hardly drink since then. The vet did 2 x-rays and everything looked fine except for 2 big pockets of gas. They gave me some meds to give her and sent us home. About an hour ago she choked up a piece of gristly bone about as big around as a shooter marble!! I called the vet and asked them if they'd even checked her throat and they said "no, but from what you told me that makes perfect sense". Duh, if it made perfect sense why didn't you check her throat??? So I'm supposed to keep watching her tonight and if she's not remarkably better tomorrow she needs to go get another x-ray to see if she damaged her esophagus. Oy! Anyway, I'm very glad it wasn't a blockage of some sort and very happy that she was able to dislodge that thing herself and I'm glad I actually saw it so I know what was really wrong with her. Poor thing is worn out and so is her mommy.

Good grief..No more bones for Bailey..her momma can't take it! I'm sure she will be fine in the morning after all that trauma. I think it was dumb that they didn't check her throat..

Well I know I'll be much more watchful about any bones she may get in the future. Her breed is well known for terrible, rotten teeth and breath so I supplement her diet with raw meat and bones to keep her teeth/gums healthy. However, I don't want a repeat performance of this episode for sure. I should've been more vigilant but have never had a problem before and have been doing this for at least 5 years. She's 6 and her teeth are perfect unlike my granddog who's had probably 10 teeth pulled. If you notice the doggy breath mints they always show an American Eskimo on the label, lolol. At least Bailey has nice breath and shiny, clean teeth. She's already feeling much better. Poor thing.

Yeah..Maybe clean off the gristle, Sandy..
I bought 3 dozen eggs from a little gal who raises chickens and sells the eggs..She promised I wouldn't find any baby chicks in them..The shells are green, but the eggs were good..Had an omelette tonight.. My friend Shelley is moving to Tucson..she sold her house in one day.. Last edited by CarolynF; 03-11-2010 at 04:10 PM.. |

Wow! That's fast. You're really going to miss her aren't you? Do you hear from your other friend often? How's everything going with her now that she made the permanent move back to her DH?
How's Beth doing with the hypnosis now that she's done with the sessions? It's cold here!! Yuck!! |

Well, carbs like honey, molasses.......well, yes, who am I kidding, SUGAR! Breakfast has been 3 Vita Tops with molasses/honey on top and the afternoon is about the same. I feel much better. Each Vita Top has 5 grams of fiber (!) so that probably has to do with the fact that I'm not bottoming out mid-morning. When I was doing slower carbs like broccoli, green beans, a little sweet potato's, my carbs were 120-140 with fiber being about 40 grams. Yesterday, it was exactly that also, just the composition has changed. I am a lot more energetic on this. I don't think I was built for LC.

We love our Gord..
I am watching my carbs like a hawk..I had a cafe breve with a touch of SF vanilla..I will have to watch the half/half, too. Well, ds22 and his buddy Austin are coming for an overnight here and to watch the big KState/Baylor game..I'm making roast beef, broccoli salad, yukon gold mashed taters and rolls (carbs for the boys)..Plus, I did make a LC dessert with SF chocolate pudding, some LC bars I made and whipped cream. Tomorrow they are leaving for Big Brutus..( a huge mining thing near here) and then to Chicken Mary's and then off on their adventure until Wednesday.. Cindy: Honestly, the way you go like crazy and are younger than the rest of us, you can probably do moderate carbs, like you have been and do great.. Trying to get Alex to take his meds..LOLOLOL..It's a powder form and I tried hiding it in some FF..Tazcat suggested I buy some meat baby food and hide it in that..

I love Chicken Mary's!! They used to cater our annual Turkey Shoot at the rural church we used to attend. And there used to be a Chicken Annie's down by the inlaws. Speaking of inlaws we're going to see them tomorrow. I'm taking cold, boiled shrimp, pasta salad and a SF cream cheesecake-like dessert I kind of made up as I went, lol. DGS17 is going with us so they'll be happy to see a great grandchild. Both of their birthdays are in March so this is to celebrate those.

Did you have a high carb breakfast??? Honestly, I do think that your doctor needs to do the GTT on you..You are having a heat wave up there, aren't you?
Carolyn That's the problem because of my high blood pressure she wants me on a high fiber low fat diet Breakfast was Kelloggs special K 5 grains cereal and 2 100%whole wheat toast and a cup of coffee 2% milk on cereal But i don't like what i am seeing with BS levels I well talk to her on Mon. and see if i can get a GTT to see if i am Diabetic or not but i think i already know the answer to that one![]()

Gord..You can get your fiber in other ways that are LC..psyllium husks, flaxseed meal, celery or Benefiber, etc. I think your numbers should be a big wakeup call to this little lady..My friend who counts carbs and takes insulin for Type II, only eats 30 carbs a meal. I think if your dr. put you on Metformin, it might help. Should be interesting, huh? Hoping the best for ya.

Morning!
I cleaned the kitchen top to bottom yesterday - everything but the paper piles. I wasn't in the mood to actually "think"! Today DS17 has a Scholastic Bowl Sectional Meet. If they win they go to State. Fingers crossed. DD26 wants me to go over and help her clean and then there's church and hopefully some recorded shows. I'm almost finished with Flash Forward but I still have an entire season of Private Practice and Demons to watch as well as some misc. shows and movies! I need to stay home for a couple of weeks! Gord - I've been recently reading that carbs are better if you add some protein. Put PB on your toast and only use the whole grain. You can make flax meal pancakes and try quinoa instead of rice . . . I hope you can figure this out! Carolyn and Sandy - I haven't heard of Chicken Mary, Chicken Annie, or Chicken Anybody?! What do they serve (except for the obvious chicken, of course! )

Yeah Wildcats..Now they play KU tonight..Hopefully, it will be a good game. We had to go the local sports restaurant to see the game, so we all had burgers there..Boys left a while ago for Big Brutus and Chicken Annie's (really good fried chicken and so-so sides) then to Vicksburg..Who knows???
Scholastic Bowl is great..Brett was in it and had a super time.. Dh and I are heading to the coffee shop for some coffee..It's wierd that he is home on Saturdays.. |

Morning!
DS20 leaves today to go back to school. DD23 SHOULD be coming home for her Spring Break - but isn't. Sigh. She felt she couldn't justify missing that much work and she needs the money. I understand, but I miss her. It's 44 and gloomy here. Pretty much matches my mood. ![]() Sandy - who won the game?! ![]() Carolyn - I'm with you - the scale was lower yesterday - but I hate to get my hopes up! ![]() |

Hello all,
I just read Barry's book, "Natural Health & Weight Loss" and now I am beginning, "The Coconut Oil Miracle" by Bruce Fife. I just started EFGT WOE this week and I already notice a difference in the way I feel. I am not weighing myself until tomorrow am. I am trying to keep my percentages perfect, but notice my carbs are much higher than my old WOE. The percentage is right, but the grams are around 40-55. Do most of you have this same problem? Sample cals - 1400-1500 Percentage 65% Fat 22% Protein 13% Carbs |

Welcome Sunday,
And yes, I find I have more grams when I keep the %'s right but as long as I keep them right I lose. Try to pick the "good" carbs as much as possible. |

Hi everyone..
Welcome, Sunday..Yes, the carbs should be what works for you. Barry believes if you keep your protein in check, you can have more carbs. I agree on the new time.. tired..Should be interesting at 5 when we find out who plays who in the NCAA..and where..It would be fun to go to a game..MKay: Money is important when you are a college kid..I'm sure she misses you all, too. Went for Chinese buffet for lunch. I was very good..mostly protein and a tiny spring roll. |
