Just got home from the mall. It's a nice place when you're not stressed!

DD25 got away OK and it's sunny in Ohio!
He's snowy and blowy here too.

Sandy - I'm on carb lock-down too.
I'm good so far today and if I can do 48 hours I have a shot at feeling better (ie thinner) for the New Year.

Well, MK, it looks like you'll have to proceed w/o me. I held out until 11 a.m. but then caved. What is wrong with me??????

We went to see It's Complicated. It was pretty funny. It's nice to see movies with people our age as the main characters, lol.

I fixed homemade tacos for dinner. Now we're just going to watch movies. And it's still snowing!!

Hi..

Well, carb lock down is starting tomorrow for me. We might see Blind Side if we can stay up to 9:35 when it is at the movies..I want to see Sherlock, but might see it this week. It's Complicated looked cute on tv.

Thanks for the update on the snow, Sandy..B and S will leave tomorrow to drive back to KCity. How much snow do you think you will get???

MKay: Glad you enjoyed the mall..stressfree..I bet the sales are good..Although I'm not buying any more clothes until I get down a bit weightwise.

Cindy: I know..I would think that the hospitals would be full of peeps in car accidents, but maybe people take their time..and drive more carefully.

The snow has stopped for the time being. I'd say we got about 7-8 inches total so far. When we've been out there hasn't been much traffic at all. That might be saving any rushes at the ER. Maybe tomorrow it'll melt a little. It's still supposed to be cold but some sun. Hopefully it'll be a warm sun. Then another storm Wed-Thurs. I've had enough winter now. I'm ready for Spring, lol. My sister is supposed to come up Sun. or Mon. but I don't know if they still are or not. I guess I-44 was pretty bad but hopefully they'll get it cleaned off well enough for them to make it. They're only coming for 1 day here and 1 day at my BIL's mom's house then they'll head back. Really hardly seems worth it for such a short visit but who am I to say??

I want to see Blindside and Sherlock. Too many movies, not enough weekend, lol.

Sandy - I'm still good.
Omelette with ham, sausage, green pepper and onion for dinner.

Now if I can last through the movie!

We decided to stay home - so much snow!
DS20 got Inglourious Basterds- so that's the movie tonight!

I want to see It's Complicated too. Maybe tomorrow when they have the roads cleared!

Carolyn - the sales were good. DD25 has a January birthday, so I picked up some good stuff for her.
Some wrapping paper, paper plates for next Christmas . . . boots for DD23 . . . .

We decided to forget the movie tonight..Maybe we can catch a matinee tomorrow..We watched several more episodes of The Office..crazy show..

The PG girls said Sherlock was a bit boring..but I don't really care..I'm sure we will see it.

Yup, back on the plan Sunday for sure...not much going on this week, so I think it will be easy to stick on plan..especially with Brett determined, too.

Yikes..7-8 inches is alot. But, when the sun is out, the roads do get a bit better and with all the traffic that has been on them, they should be okayish by tomorrow, I hope.

Gosh, Sandy, I hope your sister makes it up from Tulsa (is that right?) OK is not used to snow..just tornadoes.

Well at least my sister and BIL are originally KS peeps so they're used to snow but I still don't know if they'll try to come. We'll see. They're only coming to see Dad.
We're not having anymore celebrations.

Gee, Sandy..I'm sure they will check the road conditions on the internet. However, I'm betting the highways are pretty clear, it's those side roads. That poor state of OK was lamblasted with the storm and didn't know how to handle it..

Morning!! Thanks for the replies.

Is Miracle Whip okay for this diet? I saw it's sold for $0.30 (yes, US$ !! super cheap) after sale. The normal price is $7. SF free jams also are sold for 0.30c...

if it's okay, i wanna buy 10. (LOL!!)

Hi..

Miracle Whip isn't terrible..It does have a bit of sugar in it, but not so much that it would derail your plan. Go for the cheap..You could always make your own mayo, you know..LOL..egg/oil/dry mustard/...salt.. You need a blender to do it easily, though.
I love SF jams, too..Go for it, Love,.

The party's over..I gained a pound..I'm sure it was the culmination of all the carby carbs..and the butterscotch pumpkin cake I had yesterday..But, today is a new day to get to the 40's or bust!!!

Any favorite Christmas presents? I got some KC coffee.. and a new stovetop espresso maker. and the Active Plus for the Wii..and a killer DVD called Jillian Michael's Shred..and other nice things..

Cindy: Gary has been to Cairo, but it's been a while. He loved the pyramids..One of my friends went and got on a camel and she had to pay the man $5 to get her off..LOL..
Now that you know how to post, we will love your pictures.

Drinking my Cherries Jubliee coffee that Brett picked out..

New here, EFGT book is on order!

Merry Christmas everyone. I decided to jump into the December conversation hoping I'm not interrupting anyone.

I've got the EFGT book on order and meanwhile, could anyone give me an idea for breakfast? I am 5' 7", 183 lbs. and eating one egg fried in butter with a piece of bacon followed by green tea with one tsp. coconut oil.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Lisa..

Welcome..Even though you are in a snowless area, we will enjoy your stories of the beach..

Your breakfast sounds great. First of all, figure out your protein requirements..Since you are tall, I'm sure your lean body weight is around 100-110..Then you multiply by .6 which would give you 60 grams as a minimum to around 80ish grams.

Going to ****** and putting everything in really helps when we are keeping track of stuff..Now, your age factors into this..and your job, etc..and activities, of course.
Calories do count..So, don't go overboard..Keep it around 1500 and see what happens.
This is more of a portion control thing, too.

Carolyn - I The Office!! We don't have all the seasons - but I'd love to get them.
I asked for the Wii Active Plus, but didn't get it. Let me know if you like it!

Lisa - PLEASE tell me beach and sun stories. It might be the only thing that gets me through this winter!

Love - I'm sure you told us before, but where are you?

Honestly, we never watched The Office..but it is hysterical once you know the characters..I think the Wii Active Plus has some floor stuff, so I'll see how that goes..and if I can get up.

Grams to ounces?

[QUOTE=CarolynF;12905124]Hi Lisa..

Welcome..Even though you are in a snowless area, we will enjoy your stories of the beach..

***Hi CarolynF, yesterday we went boating down what is called the Intracoastal Waterway. It's a wide "strip" of water that separates the barrier islands like Palm Beach from the mainland of Florida and runs north all the way to Maryland (I think). It was a chilly 70 degree day for us and we saw that we weren't the only ones bundled up in jackets and hats on the boat. LOL

Your breakfast sounds great. First of all, figure out your protein requirements..Since you are tall, I'm sure your lean body weight is around 100-110..Then you multiply by .6 which would give you 60 grams as a minimum to around 80ish grams.

***My lean body weight is 121 lbs if I'm figuring correctly per this website: MedCalc: Body Surface Area, Body Mass Index (BMI)

***121 x .6 = 72.6 grams. Divided by three meals, this should be 24.2 grams of protein (IF I were to divy it up equally) per meal. But then how do I convert grams to ounces? There's a simple calculation for that, correct?

Going to ****** and putting everything in really helps when we are keeping track of stuff..Now, your age factors into this..and your job, etc..and activities, of course.
Calories do count..So, don't go overboard..Keep it around 1500 and see what happens.

***Calories is where I ran into problems. My portions are good, but I was following a diet (healingnaturallybybee.com) for candida overgrowth and it recommends very high fat (at least in my humble opinion). I was eating six tbsp.s of coconut oil plus organic butter, plus any fat contained in the almost zero carb menu that I planned. The diet starts out with like 1 tsp. of coconut oil and you gradually work your way up to the six tbsp.s. Early on in the diet I did lose ten pounds. But as my coconut oil doses increased, I packed on the pounds and now I weigh more than I ever have and I'm really bummed about doing that to myself.

Without having read the book, may I ask if this amount of fat seems rather high according to the EFGT way of eating?

Thanks much!
Lisa W

Welcome Lisa and Hello to everyone!
DS and DDIL went home late yesterday afternoon and I was in bed at 9 and didn't get up until 9 this morning and still feel tired but I am sure as the day goes on I will get back in the groove. Have to get ready to fly to NE via MN tomorrow. Wish I were flying straight into Omaha but Lincoln was half the price and twice as close for the kids to drive to, so, Lincoln won out. Supposed to be -1 Monday night, brrrr, I am certainly not used to that anymore.
I haven't weighed for several days but I feel so fat from eating the extra carbs. I do not like the way I feel and my sugar is too high, so going to try hard today to leave all the leftovers alone. will probably ask DH what he wants me to keep and the rest will go down the disposal, b/c by the time I get home, it will all be bad anyway. I will take the rest of the candy to the kids in NE.
I love The Office. Very good characters. I haven't seen all episodes though.
Anyone seen 2012 yet? Or want to? I can't decide if it will be good or not????

Mary Kay,

Our 30-unit condo complex holds its annual holiday party in the cabana by our pool which isn't air conditioned and we actually perspire ourselves into a nice "glow" as we mix and mingle.

Once we're all sufficiently uncomfortable, the entire party moves up to the fifth floor penthouse unit closest to the Intracoastal. The breeze up there is the perfect thing to counter our happy host's amazing Jamaican coffee!

There's also a holiday boat parade every year with boats decorated with lots of lights, costumed Santas, Elves and Reindeer and Christmas trees of every variety including palm trees. It's not snow, but it'll do.

It's really a hoot living here except in June, July, August and September...and this year you could add October and November to that list of hot months.

I think I found grams to ounces calculation

Hi again...I did some further reading of this forum and I think the following is the calculation I'm seeking. Please tell me if I've got this right.

Based on 121 lean body weight:

72.6 grams protein per day
divided by 7 = 10.37 ounces
divided by 3 = 3.46 ish ounces of protein per meal?

Please forgive. I'm so dyslexic when it comes to numbers! I'm aiming for 60-70% fat, 20-30% protein, and 10-15% carbs...I think.

Lisa W

Hi gang..

Kids are off to KCity..We had a nice breakfast out and ran out of time for church..Opps.

Be careful, Buffy and pack your long underwear..although, I'm sure you won't be out in the cold too much..Yes, those airfares can be tricky, but it looks like clear flying..even though its a bit inconvenient for ya. Pitch the bad stuff..It makes you feel so much better.

Lisa: Many, many people gain weight eating the coconut oil..It's so high in calories and a little goes a long way. Sounds like you have this under control.
Your numbers sound good..Gosh..Sandy is our total beach lady..She will be so jealous.. Fat should be around 60-70 percent. It all depends on what works for you, too.

Buffy, have a safe trip and fun with your family. And dress warm!!

Carolyn, what is EA Active? Did I miss you explaining this earlier?

Our main roads are finally pretty clear. And DH did our deck and driveway, AGAIN!! He's getting tired of it fast.

We did make it to church but a lot of peeps didn't. It wasn't very crowded like it usually is. But lots of peeps are prolly traveling too.

We went to see Sherlock. I fell asleep several times in the 1st hour! I went and got a coke to try to jolt me awake. I think it could've been better but it was ok I guess. Awful dark subject matter for me.

Mk, hope that isn't how I have to land in Lincoln, maybe that is why the fare was so cheap.
I will be off the internet for 3 days, so catch up with you all later in the week.
Have to watch the news, hadn't heard about Ivana.
Happy New Year to everyone in case I don't get back to you until after the 1st.

Good morning..

I am at 151..?? and it is after Christmas? Was I that good? I think it was because I ate only 2 meals each day..Who knows?

MK: Be very careful driving up there to see your mom..Watch those icy sidewalks. I carry my Yaktrax in the car with me to put on my shoes when I go out in this weather. You have to take them off when you get inside, but they are great.

I have the Wii and there are exercise things that work well with it..I have the EA Active originally and Brett got me the EA Active more workouts. It has exercises that you just follow along. No brainers..I love it.

Cindy: Did you switch thyroid doctors? Dd read up on that one in Gladstone and wasn't sure she wanted to go there. Since she only has 1/2 a thyroid, I'm afraid she needs T3, too..Her dr. only gives her Synthroid..no biggie there, huh?

On the Miracle Whip subject...this stuff only has 35 calories per Tbs...and that's the regular stuff. 2 carbs isn't bad either. So, I'm glad you like it
Love...My parents used it all the time. Hey, your breakfasts sound good..

Buffy: Safe landing in Lincoln, dear.. Be good on the plane, K?

Hmmm..I love Sherlock (he is my secret boyfriend..the one in the books). We saw where he lived in London and met Dr. Watson..Beth took some funky pictures there..anyway. I will have to see it, but I probably won't like it too much. Thanks for the diet coke tip.

Going to exercise today..Gary waits until the snow disappears so we have to gun the car out of the driveway to get over the hump of snow.. LOL..Hope I make it.
