Hi..
Buffy, Gary zoomed by Dallas..He only stopped 4 times the whole trip and he got to Houston in 10 hours..However, I will look through his suitcase for my TJ present just in case. I love that cookie baking tradition, Sandy. How special and you get extra help making cookies. What kinds do you make? MKay: Yup, your day sounds pretty full, but fun. Except for the waiting part at the car shop, but you should pick up some good coffee before you have to wait. Next time I am in KCity, I'll look in Whole Foods for the creamer. Chiro this morning, upper body at my faux Curves, then I will rest a while and make some of the French bark tonight. I might try to make a sugar free version for myself..

We just make a small batch of sugar cookies when the g-kids are here. It ends up being about a 3-4 hour project which is just about right for them and for us, lol. Then if I get around to it I make another small batch before Christmas.
It's going to be terrible cold here again today. I'm headed to Mass this morning and then I was going to go shopping a little but might come home and hibernate today. |

Sugar cookies are the best. I can imagine that it would take a while..rolling, cutting, decorating, etc.
It's 30 here..We are lucky. At the funeral I found out that Shawn's niece goes to Washburn. She was a KU last year, but came back and was in some sorority. She is in the Reserves and will be going to Africa next May. |

Morning!
Carolyn, do you have a recipe for the bark? And, what kind of bark do you buy that you melt down? I read not to use choc chips b/c they have some kind of coating on them??? I would like to make this next Sunday. MK, whoo hoo on DD's internship! HOw exciting. A friend of mine just took her DD 23 to NYC for the first time and the daughter loved, loved, loved. it. Wishes she would have gone there before she got married just to experience living in NYC. Ok, maybe that wasn't Gary in TJ's, but there was a guy in there buying a woman a present ![]() We are past our little cold spell, it is supposed to be 64 today, then in the 40's the rest of the week. I like the cold spells, it sure makes it seem more like Christmas. everybody.

Hi gang..
Let me get my recipe..or Ina's recipe. French Chocolate Bark 1 cup whole salted, roasted cashews 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped 4 ounces German chocolate, chopped 1/2 cup dried cherries 1/2 cup dried apricots, cut up 1/2 cup golden raisins 1/2 cup cranraisins Note: you can pick and choose or use all of the fruit Preheat oven to 350..Toast cashews for 8 minutes and cool. Place parchment paper on a large cookie sheet. Pam the underneath of the parchment so it doesn't slide. Place the semi-sweet chocolate in a bowl in the micro and gently melt it..Stopping the micro and stirring..Then add the German chocolate and stir until melted. In the meantime, you have cup up your apricots and separated the other fruit. With a spatula spread melted chocolate on the parchment paper to about a 9 x 10 inch rectangle. While still warm put the cashews on the chocolate, then add the fruit and press down lightly with your hand. Refrigerate until chocolate is solid and cut into pieces. You can also do a lower sugar one using semi-sweet chocolate only and adding Splenda to taste. This is so easy and very attractive.. Wow..Dance Magazine sounds wonderful.. I have a ladies' church meeting tonight..I must be getting old, cuz I don't like meetings at night. Went to chiro and I was totally out of whack because of my fall, my foot..Well, he adjusted my foot..I didn't scream too loudly, but I am hoping it will heal faster now. I'm home from my long day.
I'll clean tomorrow morning, then my mom has to have a tooth removed (so another 200mile trip) and then I'll collapse tomorrow night. But hopefully DD23 will be home!!!!!!! Quote:
![]() ![]() I'm sure Gary is the only guy buying a present right now . . . . All the rest will wait for Christmas Eve! Carolyn - How does your foot feel now? I don't like meetings at night during the winter. I just want to snuggle up in bed! |

Oh, Mary Kay....Obviously, this place doesn't take the patients to the doctor, right? Maybe that is more of a nursing home situation. Is she on the list for a place closer to you??? When winter hits, you might have to curtail those trips from time to time.
No..Gary hasn't bought me a thing. I think he is going Saturday..My foot is better, thanks..I can't do down the stairs unless I go sideways, but that is normal. |

Thanks for the recipe Carolyn, I will pick up the stuff and maybe some white chocolate too, I think it would be pretty in that.

Hi..
Ow...white chocolate would be great, too. It's so pretty with all the colors of cranberries, etc. MK: The blessing is that you found the perfect spot for your mom on short notice. Morning!
Thanks for passing on the message from Gord. I "think" I am going to be home all day, hopefully catch up on all the laundry, the office work and get re-organized to head out again tomorrow, I need to be finishing this shopping up so I can begin the wrapping. I do a lot of the bags anymore, but I need to figure out what sizes I need. And tissue, do I have enough tissue? |

Carolyn, I picked up some golden raisins and cashews for your recipe. I will use apricots, golden raisins and crasins. Swirling some white chocolate would be good too.
Thyroid labs today. I'll let you know how it goes. |

Cindy: I hope you like it..It looks terrific and very "French"...sophisticated, etc..I think.
I think after you get all your fruit/nuts, I think a light drizzle of white chocolate over the fruit would be lovely. Yikes..on the weight gain..I think if we can keep it to a minimum we will be happy in January.. |

I'm still trying to play catch up from all my down days of the last few weeks. But I'm also still trying to not over do. It's a fine balance I think. I have a few errands to run today and I really need to sweep and mop my kitchen floor and vacuum the main part of the house. Oh, and I need to change my sheets. So those are my goals for the day, lol.
My weight?? If I can hold my own for this month it'll be a miracle. A Christmas Miracle. |

Morning holiday friends!
Carolyn, that is sounding more and more like the bark I bought at Ethels chocolates in Las Vegas. And it was so delish, I can't wait to make this on Sunday. I am getting the stuff I need for it today. I like the idea of the drizzle on top, could do it in both chocolate bars with a white drizzle and white with a chocolate drizzle. Going to go shopping today to try to get the last of my gifts that I haven't ordered online. Hope all the online ones make it on time but the shipping so far has been going good. DD, DSIL and DGS are leaving for Canada Friday night to visit his family, will fly home Christmas day and we had ordered DGS warm coat, snowbibs and gloves from Kohl's, we were just starting to worry about them but the arrived yesterday so now my boy will be warm playing in all that snow. MK, glad DD made it home safe and sound. Cindy, I agree, Jan. 1 is always the time to get serious about weight again. Sandy, this time of year is so hard when you have to take it slow and easy, there is always so much to do. One year one of my daughters got married right after Christmas, as if that wasn't enough, I had a root canal that went south and had to have a tooth pulled 2 days before Christmas. That Christmas eve, we ordered in pizza and I laid on the couch, out of it from pain pills. One of those fond family memories, LOL. Off to get running again, bye! |

Hi ladies and frozen Gord,
It is nice here..paid the house taxes..what fun. I took the handicapped elevator down..LOLO.. Okay..my chiro's nurse was telling me about the Aloe Infused sox (like slipper sox). So, they ran out at Wallie, but I found them today at Dollar General Store by the spa stuff, I think. They were $3 or so, but they feel so soft and are supposed to have moisturing aloe in them. I got 3 pairs..one for me, one for Beth and one for my sister in law.. Buffy: I remember Ethel's chocolates from Vegas. My mom's name was Ethel and we had to get her some when we went there..Very nommie. Hope you gals enjoy Ina's bark..The only key is to watch the chocolate in the micro so it doesn't burn, but I'm sure you know that. Sandy: I'm with you on catching up for Christmas. I think Brett can pick out his own stuff as his camera broke and he loves his camera, so that will be an easy present for him. Hugs all around..I totally agree with the January start-up.. I was at 153.8 this morning.......so, if I can stay there until January 1st, I'll be happy. Christmas is the only bad day for me when I have planned high carb food..The others are "accidents"..LOL |

Carolyn, let us know how you like those soxs, I have seen them. I can't stand for my feet to be rough and have tried lots of foot creams, it is even more important now that I am diabetic to take good care of my feet. One of the very best heel creams I have found is Origins Reinventing the Heel. It is pricey but oh so good, have told several people about it who also love it. Have to keep it by your bed and use it liberally at night and a light amount in the am. Very good stuff, the Make a Difference hand cream is very good also.
Well, off to run my errand, got ready and had to eat a bite with my byetta shot. |
