400 calories per day to....EFGT?

I've posted elsewhere telling my whole story, but basically, I've been starving myself on and off for 4 years...every time I tried to recover and followed my doctor and nutritionist's "healthy" guidelines (read: food pyramid) I end up piling on a ton of weight, which was to be expected due to bad metabolism most likely, but then to their dismay wouldn't be able to lose excess...

So I'd give up hope of ever eating normal amounts of food. I've been resorting to restricting to about 400 calories or less a day again, while running 4 miles a day (not so much anymore, I'm at college so a lot to do...) needless to say I lost most of the excess weight (I am at a healthy weight, not underweight), and now just want to EAT and be happy!

I'm scared following the 'wholesome' guidelines will just make me relapse again...I'm interested in this plan and wondering if I start it will I put on insane amounts of weight...I know theoretically fat shouldn't make you fat but isn't my body desperately clinging to, well, everything?? How would I make the switch? Increase calories slowly? At once? I'm just so confused....and don't trust my nutritionist I had a vegan phase for awhile and ate piles and piles of fruit though not many grains...even gained on THAT...I have a feeling my body just doesn't enjoy many carbs.

Thanks for any help!

You already know that starving yourself doesn't work. And it's obvious that there are many, many helpful people on these boards who can testify that eating the lc way DOES work.

After 4 years of lc-ing I have learned that this wol does work and NOT eating this does NOT. It's as simple as that.
