Morning!

Carolyn - nope - DS17 is only a junior, so we have another year.
DD25 and DD23 are both in grad school - we don't pay for them.
Only DS20 is still on the payroll.
Mine are all about 3 years apart depending on what month we're in!

I'm going to the gym today - no one faint!

Hi..

On the soup, it was cream cheese/rotel/chicken broth/chicken/spaghetti squash/a few black beans. Not bad..I tend to invent my own soup recipes.

Oh...MaryK...Only one in college is good.. Wow..that's right your ds is only a junior, so you can enjoy him another couple of years.

We are having organic hotdogs tonight, with sauerkraut and spinach..LOL.. I've been trying to watch the fat a bit to see where it takes me.

Hi Cindy, Buffy and everyone who stops by.

Morning!

Yay, I'm not too sore from the gym!
I definitely feel it, but it's not awful!

Took the dog to the vet yesterday and discovered he's got a dairy allergy (must come from my side of the family! ) and an ear infection! Ever try to put drops in a dog's ears?! Don't! They shake their heads and spray it back all over the room!

DS20 comes home this Friday for Fall Break. I need to straighten up his room today and change his sheets. I also have a brow wax, hair cut and pedicure today!

Then I'm rummaging around in the rectory attic looking for history stuff for the Anniversary Celebration.

I have a dozen phone calls to make and it's all starting to

Carolyn - how were the organic hot dogs? Are they made from organic bits and pieces??

Cindy - how are you doing?

Oh yes, MK, I've done the doggie ear drops many times. We used to have a Cocker Spaniel and they're known for bad ears. And he had them! I used to have to do an ear wash too and you always wanted to do that outside, lol. After putting the drops in I'd put a cotton ball in his ear so at least he couldn't shake the drops right back out. And after a bit I'd remove the cotton ball.

I've done great on my plan so far this week and it's paid off. I'm back down to my lowest weight from last week. I hope I can hold onto that now. So that's back to an 8# loss since last Monday morning. Woohooo!!! We have a chili cook-off to attend Sat. afternoon and a fall party Sat. night. I need to start psyching myself up right now for both of those.

It's cold and rainy here today. I'd like to stay home all day. Hopefully I can.

Prayers needed for my DGD20. She's been having some stomach problems and today it got so bad my DD took her to the ER. I'm waiting for word from them now.

Update: They think she has a bacterial infection in her colon. They gave her meds and she's to see the Dr. again early next week and hopefully will be much better by then. All prayers are still much appreciated.

Sandy: Ohhh...is that stuff going around??? So glad that she went to the ER to nip it in the bud and that it is treatable, but not very pleasant at all..Will pray for healing and be sure to tell her to eat Activa or Priobiotics during the antibiotics treatment.

Gosh...my foot is killing me..I got some new shoes..Clark's..extra comfortable, but the last was wrong on the left one..This happened Sunday when we were shopping, etc..It has hurt me all week, so I went to my chiro and he adjusted my feet..and said there was
some inflammation in there..I probably stretched that tendon because of my ill fitting shoe..So, he gave me a golf ball to roll on the bottom of my foot, then I'm supposed to ice it..No biggie, but I thought I'd share..

Mary Kay...gosh, you are so busy with everyone and the church, etc..I guess we are all busy peeps..The ladies just asked me to do a program for the Christmas thing..It only has to be 10 minutes..which is good...

Chili tonight with some leftover chicken soup from the other night, some beans, and hamburger and chili powder..Mish Mash chili..

She didn't really nip it in the bud. She's been dealing with this in one form or another for the last 3 weeks at least and wouldn't take the advice to get to a Dr. But I guess it finally got bad enough she got scared and went. She's so worried about missing her classes. I thought stress might have something to do with it at first but it just kept getting worse.

Ooh! I hate sore feet and shoes that make them. Can you exchange the shoes?

I was going to join Daughter's of Isabella at church tonight but DH is running late and I don't want to rush around. So I guess I'll wait until next month. Or maybe even until January, lol. How's that for procrastination, lol. I stayed home all day and it felt so good. It's so cold and damp and it just felt so good to just veg out all day. I did change the bedding, put on the elec. blanket for winter and turn the mattress. That's about it!

I will try to get store credit for them... I would love to stay home..tomorrow I have to work the ticket booth again. I think I will try to sit most of the day and the other peeps
can do the running back and forth. I'm the Day Leader, so I can play "boss"..It's icky here, too..49. The deck was supposed to be stained this week, but it's soaking wet, so probably next week it will get done.

What kind of tickets are you selling? I hope you get to stay off your feet tomorrow. I'll have to venture out tomorrow. I have Bible study in the a.m. And then I better get my errands I put off today done.

Morning!

DH is OOT for the next couple of days, so add dog walker to my list of duties.

Today is circuit class and maybe yoga if I'm feeling motivated.
Lunch with a friend.
Meeting at the HS.
And a slew of errands if I can fit them in.

I've been collapsing every night with no motivation to clean my mom's stuff out of the family room . . . .

What a good idea! However, I'm afraid I'd lose the cotton ball in there! He has such a long ear canal . . . . The vet would love it if I came in for that!

I'm glad they found out what was wrong with your DGD!!

Carolyn - you may have just found a bad shoe! If you like them, try on another pair!

Morning peeps!
The days have been flying past and I realized I had missed a day, or two, or three of posting! Glad to get back and read about all you gals have been up to.
Cindy, sooo very sorry to hear about your friend and yes, glad you found out before you had left on your trip, I am sure you will be a rock for her and she needs you. Prayers for her and her family.
Congrats to Brett Carolyn, he must be a smartie, isn't it great to see them grow up and do so well. Wow on the suit, if it was my sons I am sure he had it "hung" on the floor of his closet from the last time he wore it. Well, my son in his past, now he has a wife who takes care of him. "-)
Carolyn, ouch on your foot. I was just at DSW warehouse yesterday looking for a good shoe to wear with longer jeans that was super duper comfortable and man oh man is that hard to find. My feet are so sensitive to blisters, pain, rubbing, etc. that I buy pair after pair trying to find a dressier good looking shoe that I can stand to and want to put on and wear without being in pain. I left empty handed. I found these little lace up shoes with a heel at Easy Spirit years ago that I wore and wore and wore, they had just the right height of heel for a longer boot cut jean, well, I finally forced myself to throw them out b/c they were just too worn to look decent. Yesterday I went to the mall to where the Easy Spirit store "used" to be, no longer there. The girl at the info desk looked at me like I had just returned from the trip to mars so guess the store has been gone for quite some time, LOL. Now the search is on.
Cindy, yay for you on your weight loss and working it girl, keeping it off. Doing a great job. Sounds like a nasty infection your DGD has, make sure she gets completely over it.
MK, you are the whirlwind girl as usual, busy, busy, busy. I don't see how you get it all done, no wonder you are a fly girlie.
Vanilla, keep working on finding your groove, we only fail if we quit trying. Glad you are keeping us updated.
More in next post.

Hey Buffy, check out Zappos online. You might be able to find your Easy Spirit shoe there. Did you happen to keep the style number from the old shoe? I'm with you on shopping and buying so many shoes that then end up hurting my feet after I wear them awhile. And it's so hard to find a cute, comfy shoe for those longer jeans.

I was up early so I could get my hair washed and dried before Bible study. It's so thick it takes forever! I ended up going to the D of Isabella meeting and am so glad I did. I don't believe I've ever met a nicer bunch of ladies all in one room before. I felt so welcomed and am looking forward to being a part of their ministry.

I have several errands to run today afterwards including going to the gym. I have a real problem. If I can't go to the gym first thing in the a.m. I just can't seem to get myself motivated to go at all! I really need to work on that.

Have a great day my friends.

Had to go to my endocrinologist yesterday for checkup on my diabetes. I had cancelled my 3 month appt. b/c I felt I was doing fine and my insurance covers only 4 doctor visits a year and mine were used up. Well, I needed a new prescription and they wouldn't fill it without seeing him. Anyway, he was very happy with me, my numbers looked good so far and my weight was down 18 lbs from when I saw him the end of May. Blood test results will be back in a few days.

And......yesterday was my birthday! I tell you, they get better the older you get, people make over you like crazy, it is awesome! Kids all called me except son, which is unusual so I expect to hear from him today. My brother and one of my sisters called and then last night was our usual monthly dinner club night and the girlfriends went all out. There are 9 of us and every one made it, which is kind of unusual and of course makes it way more fun. They had picked a new, great local restaurant, the staff made over us, the wine was on the house as they were waiting for their liquor license. They had cards, really really cute gifts and a cake with candles, it was so fun. The owner of the restaurant kept coming around to check on us and make us feel welcome, we had a very nice looking, friendly young waiter. The manager came by to warn us that he couldn't serve us "too" much wine, just one glass since he didn't have his license and couldn't be responsible. We told him to go away, kidding of course but the waiter told us that as long as he "refilled" our glass, it was still "one" glass wink, wink.
DH gave me the trip to Vegas for my birthday, so it was a great one.
Now, back to eating on WW, I did fine yesterday until last night and ate a little of everything, the food was great but I can't even imagine the points with the cream sause on the chicken and the cake and wine. Back on plan today though and after 3 weeks I am down 6.6 lbs so it is going well for me right now.
Have a great day everyone, the sun is actually supposed to shine today.

Hi all,

Been busy organizing my iTunes folder here at work so I can copy it at home, then yesterday decided to make another webset for my site. I am so lucky to have a job where I can do these kinds of things!

No more weight loss yet (actually went up a lb. Tuesday but holding steady), but there are changes going on. Clothes feeling better and I can literally see less of me in the mirror. Don't know why the scale has moved again yet or the measuring tape is not showing it much (there has been a little shrinkage), but just my clothes feeling a bit bigger is so cool! Doing the Fast 5 with the higher fat stuff has been very easy (so far ).

Cindy - I hope your friend's prognosis is positive and will keep her in my prayers.

Buffy - happy belated birthday!

Hi gang,

Just got back from selling tickets..It's the Neewollah weeklong celebration thing here in Indy. We have a musical that the townsfolks put on..Thoroughly Modern Millie and then we have Smash Mouth coming..I had never heard of them, but they play the Shrek songs.

Gosh, Buffy..................Many happy birthdays to you and your 18 pounds lost.. That is a toddler..you lost a toddler. Yes, someday Brett will get a wife to take care of him..

I totally agree with the shoe thing..I have to try on many pairs of shoes to find ones that I can actually wear..I'm a shoe salesman's nightmare..

Sandy:What do the D of Isabella do??? Sounds like a nice group..and who wouldn't welcome you??

MaryK: I think it's the change of the seasons..I'm more tired than usual in the evening with the cooler weather here..

Vanilla; That's great about the clothes fitting better. One pound of fat has alot of volume and you could be retaining water, too..

My foot is better, but I'm going to the podiatrist tomorrow just to be sure. I think my chiro did a great job adjusting my foot..(he didn't mind the screams..)

Eating leftover chili..

The D of I are like the woman's side of Knights of Columbus. They are a charitable organization of Catholic women founded on the principle of its motto: Unity, Friendship and Charity.

I'm tired in the evenings too. No daylight equals tired for me.

I'm still alive

Work, Max and my ducks have been keeping me busy. No new weight loss, but my blood pressure is still down and I am still keeping the carbs under 50g/day.

Some sad news on the ducks....we lost 2 to a predator in the last couple of days. We think it was a hawk or an owl. Grrrrrrrr!!!!

I am turning over my herb garden to the ducks and covering it with netting, but now I have to build them a new pond. So much for the "relaxing" hobby of raising poultry! What I go through for fresh eggs! YEESSSHH!!

Hi girls and Gord, Well, my friend, ok, not just my friend as that doesn't begin to cover it. Really, sister is a much closer comparison. She has been my best friend for 28 years. Anyway, she had her surgery today. It is a high grade (invasive, aggressive) cancer of the brain. She is 47. Her husband fell to his knees, I sobbed on her mother's shoulder. The survivability rate at 5 years is 5%. She starts radiation and chemo. Here's where you all come in. I am reading about ketogenic diets and cancer. I will continue researching and then show her what i find and see what she thinks. I need to read a lot more on it but the research about the ketogenic diet and epilepsy is very compelling. I believe they used PET scans to see if the cancer has a high glucose metabolism as those respond the best to a ketogenic diet. Just as we have all known, diet is a good portion of all cellular function. Normal or abnormal.

Hey, Wifey!! So good to see you back! Sorry about the ducks. My friend thinks her cat (!) was attacked by a hawk. I guess it isn't that uncommon.

Oh Cindy, I'm so, so sorry. I can not imagine what all you guys are going through. I haven't really ever researched the ketogenic diet but I've read several places that sugar feeds cancer so I'd say you've picked a good place to start your research. What a nightmare. My best friend and I have been BFFs for 42 years so I know what you mean when you say "friend" just doesn't really describe the relationship. I will continue to pray for your "sister" and the family, including you. If there's anything I can do to help in any way, please let me know.

Wifezilla has posted a lot of info on sugars and cancer in the past. Maybe she'll pop back in and share some links. You might click on the link to her blog to read some of her findings.

I didn't realize there were so few Daughter's of Isabella circles but I found out there are only 3 in the KC area. If you do a search it'll tell you all the things they do. It's pretty involved to type it all here, I'm too lazy for that, lol. They're very service oriented and raise money for different needs, are prayer warriors, etc.

MK, how is your DH doing? I've been meaning to ask you about him. Has it been a couple of years now?

Morning everyone,
Wow, the birthday continues! I am so blessed to have my online buds as well as my offline friends/pals. And my kids, what on earth would I do without their love, man I can't imagine. our next door neighbors have no children, she had one when she was younger and put it up for adoption, lucky for that kid is all I can say. Their life looks so sad to us, they sit in that house all by themselves, hardly go anywhere except he goes to work, no one ever comes to visit and they will tell you that is the way they prefer it??? To each his own I guess.
Cindy, I am so sorry about your dearest friend, I have one like that too, she is actually a cousin and although I moved away from Iowa where she lives, 28 years ago, we talk each week and email all the time and when we do get to see it other we take up right where we left off. One of my dinner club friend's DH lived 10 years with brain tumors and up until the last 6 months was the picture of health, he worked out, ate right, took supplements, etc. You never know what the Lord has in his plans.
MK, you and Carolyn CANNOT go shoe shopping without me, I am the one who needs the new shoes, whine, whine!
Vanilla, I like the sounds of your job where you have lots of time to do things like that.
Zilla, thanks so much for stopping by to say hi and update us on the duckies! Sorry to hear you lost 2 and I can imagine the extra work.
Sandy, that organization sounds like a good one to be involved in. Our lady Elks group is like that but I have to say I don't do meetings very well, I go for awhile and then don't want to go. I am always willing to help with things though.
Carolyn, yes, a wife to take care of your son will be a good thing when the time comes, hope you are as lucky as I am in the one he picks! I sure hope I don't re-find that toddler I lost, I don't think I do now that I have the diabetes under control. Now, on to lose another toddler, LOL.
Have a great day everyone. I am going to run to the store for apples, I have been making these awesome crockpot apples that DD and I are loving. Going to try them today without peeling them first, I think Cracker Barrell is the one who has the cooked apples with the skin on and that is where lots of the good nutritional things are.

I haven't been writing as much. Old age is catching up to me and long hours at the keyboard are tearing up my shoulder. I have a new trigger mouse with a track ball that may help.

There are a bunch of cancer links on my examiner page. I still post there but not as much as I would like...

Denver Low Carb Examiner

In the right column, scroll down a bit for a bunch of links that show the sugar/cancer connection.

Hi ladies and Gord,

Gosh, Cindy, we will be sending up prayers of healing for your "sister in love". What a terrible tragedy, but miracles do happen. Has she ever tried Reiki? I was doing Reiki and the nun who was doing it on me said that she had alot of cancer patients who came for a Reiki treatment. There have been studies about Reiki and cancer and how Reiki affects your immune system to fight the cancer. A person just lays on a table while the Reiki master does healing hands over the patient. I totally believe in a sugarfree diet for cancer, for sure..Cancer cells love sugar.

Many hugs to our Zilla..Sorry about your ducks... Is Calvin still at Fort Riley? During one of the football games at Manhattan, they have Fort Riley days when they invite
the soldiers to come to the game. KState isn't doing that great, but it would fun to
watch it..

Hi Miss Sandy..Sounds like a great organization.. I like groups that actually do stuff..

Mary Kay: Have fun with your kiddos.. I'm sure you cook a favorite meal for them..

Buffy: I don't think I'm going shoe shopping anytime soon.. So happy that your diabetes in under control..That's the most important thing..I'm sure you will be losing
the toddler's twin real soon.

Okay..I went to the foot doctor this morning and he took an xray of my foot..You never want an x-ray of anything because they find things that you don't want to know about..LOL..No, I have a little bit of arthritis..and a heel spur and something he was surprised to see..(I guess if you are a foot doctor it doesn't take much to excite you).
I have a calcium deposit in front of my heel and that is what caused the pain when I wore those shoes. Luckily, I don't need surgery..WHAT??? Surgery wasn't even on the
radar screen for me. So, he taped my foot and fixed my tennis shoe and sent me off telling me not to run..or do major housework..LOL..I can do that.

Bummer on the foot! Can you still do yoga? I officially have started my Xmas shopping. I got my DGS some pool supplies I knew he needed to replace for next year. I hope he's happy with that. I'll get him some other something too but I saw those and it clicked.

I have a headache today and almost feel like I could be getting a sinus infection. I hope if I get something that that's all it is. I can deal with that. Not that I want to, of course.

I'm home and besides walking the dog I think I'm in for the night!
I'm pooped!

We went to a health food store where I found Fage yogurt, some coconut milk cream for coffee and some non-dairy cheddar cheese.

I'll let you know how everything tastes.

Buffy - I'll go shoe shopping with you anytime!!

Sandy - feel better!!

Carolyn - guess you're going to have to hire a housekeeper!
Sorry about your foot though. Are you in pain!?!
