Morning!

Another rainy day in paradise!!

Sorry I'm late, but no school today, so everything is a little behind!

Today I need to get to the grocery store, I have 2 parent/teacher conferences, the dog's getting his nails clipped . . . . and tonight is the HS Homecoming game.
Or we were invited to a party . . . . I'm waiting to see if the rain stops.

Carolyn - a protein day is needed here too, but . . . .

Cindy - yep, you win, yours is cheaper! AND your DH can't use the phone and call you all day long!

Morning friends.
Yes, us southern girls put up with some warm, humid weather yesterday. It was 88 here in the Dallas area, but the cold front hit overnight along with a LOT more rain, our ground is over over saturated and it is only 54 here this morning with an expected high of 58. That kind of change is great for getting people sick you know.
More office work today, I thought I would have our 2008 tax paperwork ready for DH to take to the CPA by last night, now I am shooting for early afternoon today. Yike, I have to get it finished. I am soooooo terrible about putting that off.
I want to get to sprouts, they have fresh tilapia on special this week and I am in the mood for some, which doesn't happen very often, I am not much of a fish eater.
Also need to clean out and organize my canned goods, so I have some sort of idea what I have, right now it is such a mixed up mess I don't know if I have 25 cans of peaches, or beans??? KWIM?
Eat well on your plans my friends....

Thank you! Maintained today, which is okay. I think I'm going to give the IF/LC a try beginning next week. I'll keep with the EFGT of keeping up the fat, though.

I am, too. Well, in the spice department anyway! I had horses once upon a time. I'd love to have one again. Don't know if I could get up on one now though!

Buffy - the rain/front finally got us this morning. We're loving it!!

If I try the IF thing - or rather Fast Five - I don't know how "EFGT" that will be except for keeping up the fat. So I may float around the boards again but report my findings next week.

Hope you ladies have a fabulous weekend!

Sorry I'm late checking in today. And yes, last night was very rainy. I hope Beth's fundraiser was NOT outdoors.

I went on a shopping spree today. I promise it was a total accident. I needed some new tops and I had to go to Border's to pick DGD up a book for her BDay and Marshall's is right there. I couldn't help myself. Then while paying for my stuff at Marshall's I discovered a 15% off card I had for Gordman's so I went there too. I think I'm set for awhile now.

Cindy, do you think your horses miss each other? I would think they really would after all this time. But MK is right, at least they won't be calling to complain or whinny at you.

Tomorrow we're going to the in-laws for the day. I'm trying to keep a very positive attitude about that. It's always very depressing. For us, probably not for them. I always take dinner. Even though I think they've never thought I could even cook. They always eat it all right down. They don't get good stuff to eat very often so I always leave all the leftovers too.

The book I got my granddaughter is the neatest book. It's called The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every story whispers His name. By Sally Lloyd-Jones. I've already read half of it and love it myself. I got a copy at the library before I bought it to see if it was what I wanted. Every story hints at Jesus' coming from Creation on. I think she's going to love it.

I got my dad's surgery set for Nov. 12. Now we just wait. And wait. And wait. I just hope his pain doesn't get too bad. He'll be at my sister's until Oct 25 I think.

You all have a great weekend.

Hi everyone..Back from shopping, etc..and getting yarn for some Christmas stockings for the kids..I'm sure they will love them..(roll eyes)..

I got 2 Dillards tops really cheap today..So, I'm happy, too.

MKay: You are still in the fun high school mode which keeps us all young.. Enjoy it all..

Gary called from MN, he is on the plane to KC, then will drive home. I'm sure he is totally exhausted..I had better start cleaning up..LOLOL.

I love tilapia..I've only had frozen, but it still holds up frozen..Enjoy, Buffy. I need to clean out my cupboards, too..Where is the Fly Lady when we need her??

LOL...You are so funny..Does your mom call you alot??? Cindy's DHOR isn't Mr. Ed, I don't think..or Mrs. Ed.

Vanilla: You will need the fat in EFGT to keep you full during the fasting times, I think..Good luck..Keep us posted.

Sandy: Well, that seems like a good date for surgery for your dad..before the holidays and before some bad weather..We will put him on our prayer list..That book sounds great..I'll check it out..

36 here too MK. And not supposed to get much warmer! And maybe even snow flurries today. I want some Fall weather before Winter!!

We're off to see the inlaws today. They live about 1.5 hours away. She's in a wheelchair from a stroke 9-10 years ago and he's her main caregiver. He's in his mid-80s now and things seem to be going downhill pretty fast the last few months.

Did I tell you guys that my DD's best friend has H1N1? And the Drs. are really worried about her teenage DD catching it as she has severe asthma. And a baby granddaughter lives with them too. I'm really worried about that whole family. Please keep them in your prayers. The BFF just found out her dad has prostate cancer too so it's a very stressful time for them all.

Morning friends,
H1N1 is pretty rampant in our schools here in TX, one of my best friends 10 YO son had it but none of the rest of the family caught it. He had a very mild case of it and he has asthma. They have to do a swab of their nasal cavity to test for it. My DGS 9 told me last week that the boy who sits next to him in class was out with it but so far DGS is ok. They say it is spreading rapidly, it is scary.
50 here right now but supposed to get to mid to high 60's today, I want to get another walk in, I did get out yesterday and I so didn't want to. But, as always, glad I did.
Vanilla, the fat is what fills you up and satisfies you, I am on weight watchers right now and really notice the lack of fat, I want to eat and have to eat much more quantity to get and say full, but of course way less calories. After having done both LC and now WW, I can definitely see the differences in how our bodies treat fat and understand why both can work for you.
Have a birthday party tonight for a dear friend that is in our dinner club, she turns 50 this year so we need to celebrate! Not sure what foods will be there so will try to go with a full tummy so I am not tempted to eat more than a little taste here and there.
MK, last night does sounds like a fun night, to win the game and then go out with friends, I always hate to see a team lose on their homecoming night.
Sandy, your day today doesn't sound like fun but bless you for going to the in-laws and seeing that they have a nice meal and a good day.
Carolyn is a knitting fool these days, isn't she girls. I wish I could get back into needlework, I used to love doing it.
Since about all I wear in the summer is capris and in the winter jeans, I am always buying tops, to the point where I have wayyyy too many, and you can find such good buys on them. I wear the knit tops, like to find them that are 95% cotton/5% spandex, or the like and then I want to buy them in every color if I find ones I like. I did go through the closets the other day and have a huge load of stuff to take to a consignment store, thankfully, I have a bunch of things that are too big. Time to get rid of that.
Horses calling home, LOL, get them their own cell phones, haha.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi everyone..

My 7 a.m. yoga class is way too early for me, but I can't do the Thursday afternoon one all October..grumble..

We had a doctor talking about H1N1 and the reason that the young are susceptible more than us old folks is that we have probably had some form of the swine flu throughout our lives so we have some immunity that the young folks don't have. Prayers for the family..It's airborne, so I guess we could all wear those masks.

Yup, WW doesn't like fat, but it lets you eat apples and other filling things. It's either carbs and very little fat or fat and very few carbs..You make your choice, I guess..

Hope everyone is doing okay........KState will be on soon.

Hi...

DH and I went out to breakie and then shopping...It was all about me today except for buying his new slacks..I had some soup and salad at Olive Garden.

I hope everyone is doing fine...Icky weather here.

We called ds22 at KState..He travels to NJ this Thursday for an Engineering Honor Society convention. He actually had his suit cleaned..but we were so proud of him. Then we called him to tell him to buy a hanging type suitcase so he didn't have to scrunch it in his little suitcase. LOL..

Oh that's cool Carolyn. I bet you're very proud. I sure would be too. Is this his last year at college? I lose track of time.

We went on a nice long walk today even though it was cold. Brrrr!!! Our pooch loved it. Then we went to our DGD's 11th birthday party. She's the youngest and she's growing up so fast. They had it at a Pizza Hut but I only had salad bar. I had some meat at home before we went. I was very proud of myself, if I do say so myself. I'm looking forward to another good week but I'm sure I won't have that great loss like I had last week. But I do feel better and I'm hoping it'll boost my immune system too. I sure don't want to get the flu. Any kind!

MK, LFL has been a great motivator for me this last week. I don't plan on making it a full time WOE but for right now it's sure helping get me back on track. And I have to admit, I'm sure enjoying the fresh fruit! I didn't even realize how much I missed it.

Hi gang..

Yes, we are proud of Brett for many reasons, but I was so glad he thought to take his suit to the cleaners.

Sandy, you will do well this week. If you can maintain your loss, then that's just great.
Now, is tomorrow your Protein Day? I would always pick Mondays. I have been trying to cut back on the cream with my coffee and using coffeemate/ff half and half. I think
I way overdo the cream/fat and this probably doesn't help weight loss.

Cindy: Looking forward to an update.

I made dh stay up until 8:30 tonight so he can "get normal" with his time change.

Mary Kay: Lean for Life is basically a lower fat/40-60 carb/moderate protein plan. I did it several years ago and lost a bit of weight, then I started gaining a bit. I do think it's a plan to do once in a while to clean things out and kick start weight loss.

Hi Buffy...

Carolyn, I'm sure you were proud of him getting his suit cleaned too, but I meant WOW about the Engineering Honors Convention. I'm always impressed when someone does great in college. And I always consider engineering a hard subject. Of course, taking your suit in to the cleaners is probably right up there for a young college guy, lol. But he's had a great teacher his whole life, right? Good job Mom!!

A check-in report on how the weekend went. I kind of semi-did the IF thing in preparation for today - actually it'll be a Fast 5 type deal. Anyway, I keep with the EFGT thing of keeping the fat up, protein/carbs low. I have no plans to lower the fat as it truly does keep me satisfied. I woke up to a 2 lb. loss this morning which is rare for me to do over the weekend. I've been up a couple of lbs. above my siggy, but this morning finally broke thru that.

Carolyn - making a soup out of that meat mixture (aka Heiny Helper) sounds like a great idea!

Hope everyone is having a good day!

All right, I have a minute. My best friend of 28 years, the one who is taking care of DHOR27, the one who, when I say I'm going riding, it is with her, was just diagnosed with a brain tumor. She is 2 days older than me. I have cancelled my trip to the Philappines, which was supposed to occur this Thursday, to help take care of her animals and children. She has 2 daughters, 15 and 18. She is still in good spirits but everyone is scared. We go to the neurosurgeon on Wed. who will tell us what the plan is but I see surgury this week. She is losing her vision and they have to move quickly. I love you all and will keep you updated.

Oh Cindy, I'm sure that's devastating for everybody. I'm so glad she has such a good friend like you to be a rock for her. I'll certainly add her to my prayer list. And her family and you as well. I'm glad this wasn't discovered after you were already gone.

Oh Cindy..Will definitely pray for your good friend and her family and wisdom and skill for the doctors involved..How terribly tragic, but there is always hope that it is benign and can be safely removed..Hugs to you for being such a good friend.

Sandy: Thanks for the mom kudos.. Yes, Brett was always smart..didn't get it from me, but maybe my dad who was also a Mechanical Engineer..But, we are glad that he was able to keep his scholarship for 4 years, too.

Mary Kay; Gosh, you must be an expert about colleges..

Vanilla: Wowowee..Yup, if you are doing IF or Fast 5 you do need fat to keep you full..
We are proud of you.

Gotta run..Cyalater..

So...Mary Kay..next year you will have 3 in college?? Yikes!!!!

My kids were 5 years apart, so we had a breather..

Made some chicken broth/rotel/soup tonight. I think we will be eating alot of soup this winter to try to cut back on our portion size. I got a new Taste of Home soup cookbook, so I will be experimenting..

Is there anything else in the soup besides broth and rotel? Sounds yummy.

I made it thru another protein day. I'm glad I only have 1 this week. I'm meeting my cousin for lunch tomorrow at Applebee's. I'll just get a salad. Maybe a shrimp and spinach salad w/o dressing or on the side. It's a pretty sweet dressing. But oh so good.
