Good afternoon, ladies, thank you for the welcome.
I do believe I'm going to give EFGT a try. I use *********** to track my food and I've already reset my cals/pro/fat/carb daily totals to between the 1500-1800 calorie settings that Linda Sue came up with in the sticky. I gather from the beginning of this thread is that you post your losses and/or weight from one month to the next? No matter, if I lose anything I'll be posting it! ![]() Thanks again for the welcome! |

Welcome Vanilla,
Yes that's what we do, pretty much. And in between we just chat about anything and everything. So jump in and post away so we get to know you too. Best of luck to you on EFGT. Carolyn, I'm so glad you made it there to get the other car. Hopefully it won't be too bad. And I'm with you, I hate car problems. |

Welcome, Ms Vanilla. Please feel free to talk about anything or ask any questions. You'll notice a few of us here on thyroid meds and some on hormone replacement so you never know how the conversation going to go. Oh, and Carolyn has posted some fabulous recipes, mostly desserts, that fit well with in this plan. I found the hardest part was getting the protein down and the fat up. There are a few threads that address this. And I think we all have pets so feel free to talk about yours, if you have any.
Made pork roast with broccoli for dinner. The BF got mashed new potatoes and gravy with his. I have DC14 on my lap as it is starting to get chilly. She is waiting for "magic fire" to appear. Thats what we call the fireplace. |

Hi..
Welcome, Vanilla..Start off with that calorie range and see what happens..If you aren't losing, then dip down a bit, if you are, then great.. Yup, my car goes in the shop tomorrow..The mechanic will take me back home..It's a small town.. I love the "magic fire".. The deck guy called..He is getting ready to have it stained. Hopefully, the original painter will do the job. I'm glad he is doing all the subcontracting..not us. |

Morning peeps and Hello Vanilla. Join right in, we are a friendly bunch.
I love Magic Fire, I am sure that is what Tinker thinks and it will be a new thing for the 3 young ones we brought in to tame that never left the nest, hmmmmm Carolyn, glad you are getting your car in to get it fixed, I hate car trouble too, never tells you about it while it is sitting in the garage and you could deal with it before it strands you somewhere. DH is 6'4" and likes big cars, etc, etc. so he has a hummer and a 1 ton dually, so, if my little SUV is broken, I get to choose between those 2 and I hate driving either of them. Today is office work for me, bad as it is, I am finishing up our income tax work for 2008, I always file the extensions, but must get this done and ready for our CPA by tomorrow night. Luckily, don't have much on my calender this month so I have days to work in the office and not be interrupted. Oh, rainy, foggy here and I want to get an hour walk in. I ate too many points on Sunday and am "in the red" on my tracker, need to work off 4 more points worth.

Good afternoon!
I can see lowering the proteins while upping the fat is kinda tricky. I'm very partial to egg creams (oh heck, I them!) and I think I'll have to ditch the protein powder and/or cottage cheese I add to them. I'll figure it out. I just posted on another thread that I feel like I'm a LC Merry-go-round trying to figure out which approach will work for me.I tend not to divulge too much about myself despite being on the internet , but just a wee bit about me. Very happily married having met my husband in a chatroom several years ago, have two grown sons (the youngest just got married), and 2 doggy daughters. Littlest dog has recently recovered from a blown disc in her back and after 8 weeks of crate rest that ended in June, she is doing very well. Still has a little wobble in her butt , and she does everything but jump up and down off things. Have an job tailor-made for me - no stress, great boss and I get to browse these boards, do Facebook, indulge in my hobby (making web graphics), etc. and it's all cool.I'm in Texas and today is hot again, but after tomorrow, it starts cooling off a bit. I'm ready to have a real fire!

Hi gals..and Gord from the north country.
Got the car into the shop. Maverick (his real name) brought me home. Waiting for the call and the bill..they are rather slow, so I'm in no big hurry. Buffy: It's nice that you can figure out the points.. MaryKay: D-Mannose is excellent for preventing UTIs..Does she drink cranberry juice?? My friend's mom only got UTIs when she forgot her daily cranberry dose. Dh just called..his hotel didn't get the reservation the "new" gal called in, so Ms. GPS is finding him hotels..one a night..

Whew, what a day. Dad had 2 Drs. appts. Got new glasses ordered and found out he has severe carpal tunnel in his right wrist. The Dr. said he has to have surgery ASAP as the nerve could die and cause permanent damage. He also said it'll be at least 2-3 weeks before he could get scheduled probably. So Dad is going to my sister's for 2-3 weeks while he waits. I hope he's not in too much pain while he's there, but I guess he'd be in pain at home too. Maybe being gone will help keep his mind off it. And he still might need the shoulder replacement too! Plus I've been dealing with online retailers for some spa stuff I bought and they're making me very angry.
If I wasn't doing so well on my new plan I'd have a beer to cool off!! Lol. Today is my 2nd day and so far so good. I just might go ahead and do the full 3 protein days and then start the weight loss days Thursday. I am having a bit of cauliflour tonight though so I guess that's a bit of a cheat. Not very much though. And I don't think cauliflour has ever been a weight gaining food for me, lol.

![]() I'm mad at the place where mom is - they didn't get her new meds to her last night and didn't get her up this morning . . . . it's part of the disease, if they're going to handle it, they need to step up! But I did just call them and she seems to be better tonight - fingers crossed! I had a meeting for our church's centennial + . I guess the parish is 150 years old and our church building is 100 years old! Tonight I'm going out with friends for dinner and margaritas - I can't wait! Carolyn - I think your car is contagious! Mine had a leaky tire today! $30 and a patch later, I'm good to go! One of the LPNs there mentioned some kind of cranberry pill - is that what D-Mannose is? Maverick? Really?!

Sandy: Your poor dad..Carpal Tunnel surgery is no fun..but it's better than the shoulder thing..Hope he enjoys his stay with your sister. Good for you..3 protein days..you can do it..And I don't think anyone gained weight eating cauliflower..do you?
It was a little tube that controls the vaccuum something. Mary Kay: Do some google research on the D-Mannose..It coats any bacteria that might be in your bladder and doesn't let it stick. I think cranberry does basically the same thing. Good grief...........now she is in skilled care?? How much "help" does she get? When Betty was in AL, they couldn't dress her, but they would wake them up..give them meds, etc..But, the nursing home was total care.. |

MK, this taking care of parents is a hard job isn't it? And Carolyn, I know you've been there too. You know when you're young you think about getting married, having children, children leaving the nest but I really never thought about this part of getting older. I wonder why? I'm sure my kids are thinking about it. I don't know how they couldn't be, lol. And they're probably scared to death!!

Yup, it is hard to take care of your parents and it's really hard to see them get old and sick. Sandy: I don't think we ever think of having to take care of our parents because our
minds can't absorb it until it happens. Hey..no LCF's tomorrow..They are updating something. |

It's bonfire night at the HS - and least I know DS17 WON'T be on the Homecoming Court this year - they can only be on once! And it's a special day! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DDnow23!!! ![]() They're not updating yet - we have a couple more minutes to post! ![]() My kids are probably scared to death too! ![]() |

Happy Birthday to your DD MK! This is the one who is in New York, right?
Oh, My plan is working quite well. Down 4.5 after the 1st 2 days. I know a lot of that is water but I'll take it anyway. And I was pretty bloated after last weekend. But I'll still take it, lol. I'll take any loss really. |

Morning peeps.
I couldn't get this site to load yesterday morning, so gave up, nothing too exciting to report anyway. Good loss Sandy, who cares whether it is bloat or what, that extra weight being gone feels GOOD! Bummer, my 2nd weigh in for WW was today and I was 209.8, one lb higher than last week. Yesterday I was 1/2 a lb down from last week but I will post it on the correct day. It will correct itself (hopefully) next week with a nice loss. Yes Vanilla, I am in TX and you are off to a great start, thanks for telling us a little about yourself. Happy Birthday to DD MK, I know she was excited to get her birthday box. Can I have one? Oh Carolyn, that is amazing about how cheap that part is and how expensive the labor, yikes, but OTOH, $200 is pretty cheap for car problems. I have walked every day this week, had to fit it in between rain showers. We are soooooo saturated and supposed to get heavy rain tonight, yi yi yi! |

Hey all,
I lost a little over a pound despite the fact that yesterday I ended up with almost 2000 calories (made that hamburger/sausage/rotel/cream cheese dish), a little high on the protein, but kept the fat up, carbs down, of course. I got wrapped up in an IF thread on another board and was curious if any of you have tried that with EFGT? I've tried to JUDDD w/lc and it didn't work too well for me, although I had some success with JUDDD before I began eating lc. I tried Fast 5 a few months ago when I was off lc and actually liked it. I'm experimenting with higher cals so I'm curious to see what tomorrow brings.Carolyn I dropped the protein powder and wow, that was a laborious little car part! Buffy We're looking forward to that cool front that's coming tomorrow! 91 degrees in October is ridiculous. ![]() |

![]() I visited mom today in a monsoon! And it's still raining! I wore my bright yellow Wellies and had a great time splashing through puddles! Lunch with DD25 at Chili's and shopping at Talbot's made the trip bearable. I still have to clean my trashcan and mop the floor, but that's what tomorrow is for, right! Pastoral Council meeting tonight. Vanilla - I notice you live in your "happy place" too! ![]() Really, where are you that it's 91° - and how do I get there from IL? Vanilla, I love Rotel tomatoes. I can even use the extra hot but not for the BF. He's a light weight.
Yes, Carolyn, horses can be expensive, especially when one is 27 years old but she is very happy. Hey, I just put her in assisted living as she has a caretaker and is with another old horse! Now I can compare stories with you all! Bet mine is cheaper! ![]() |
