My 2 cats are siblings and the girls still have days when they hiss at each other!
Of course, so do my daughters!

I'm not a cat person but I totally understand the sibling thing. My dog is so territorial that she could never adjust to another pet in our family. She tolerates the granddogs....barely.

Girls and Gord, I am so excited! I am going on a medical mission trip to Mali Africa in January but am going out a week early to Cairo Egypt to tour the pyramids, the Spinx and the Cairo Museum of Antiquities. This will be too cool!

Hi ladies..and Gord.

Cindy: That is wonderful...My dh has been to Cairo and thought it was very interesting..Sounds great..You will do great as a medical missionary.. Do you have to get any special shots??

Went to a Simulcast for Extraordinary Women at my church..It was very good. One of the speakers was Anita Renfro..the one who did the Mom song on you-tube..Very funny.

Out to dinner with a friend, then off to see Julie and Julia..Big day for me..Gary is on a trip.

Hi..

Mary Kay..Wow..Does she have 2 rooms? Or one big one? Or living, bed and bathrooms?
It looks very lovely.

Buffy: Yes, I loved that movie..I loved the butter/food..and Meryl was so good at being Julia.

Well, the little kitty that I took to the shelter had her picture in the paper..They called her Little Girl and she was 6 months old. I'm hoping someone will fall in love with her and adopt her.

I'm sure somebody will adopt Little Girl. How can they resist?

Have anybody heard of the book Remembering Laura by Sandy Badgett? The author is a friend of my DIL. She bought me a copy of the book at the publishing release party and I started it on the plane on the way back from Florida. I had to quit reading on the plane b/c it made me so sad. When I finished it I was actually sobbing! It's a very good book. It's the story from a mom's point of view of going through cancer with her daughter who's married with children of her own. She has a web page. I don't think I explained it very well, so sorry, but it's a great book and so inspirational. My DIL went to a women's retreat this weekend and Sandy was a speaker. I wish I could've heard her.
We had a mega busy weekend. BBQ comp with the kids Friday night, then back Saturday for the awards ceremony, then a birthday party for someone DH works with and the Royal's game today. It was actually a wonderful game and the weather was perfect. But I'm pooped out!!

I loved Julie and Julia!! What are you going to cook next now? Lol.

Hi..

No, I haven't heard of that book, but it sure sounds like a tearjerker. Yes, the weather has been beautiful here in the Midwest.. I have Julia's cookbook and I love the beef burgundy. Maybe I can find more lowcarb recipes in it.. Of course, there is always butter.

Morning!

Carolyn - the pics are 2 sides of the living room - there's still one more wall! Then a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom - over 500 sq feet. But for some reason all my pics won't load?!

Sandy - no sad books for me - but cookbooks! I loved the movie too!

Oh, Lord, I have SSoooo many cookbooks. Ones with pics. I have to have pics. I don't know if I want to make it or how it supposed to look without pics. And I know I don't need more with everything being available on the internet but I can't help myself. One of my fav websites is RecipeZaar.com. I also use Foodnetwork, Allrecipes and Epicurious.com

MK, that looks like a nice place. I know that is a load off.

Carolyn, I have to get a Yellow fever vaccination but that's it.

Morning peeps!
MK, the apartment looks really really nice, I hope she adjusts soon.
Saturday I went to the casino and sat by a couple I had met there one other time. As the afternoon wore on, and I was visiting with them I began to realize that something was not quite right with the wife, she kept asking me where I lived, and kept telling me what her husbands name was and that the other guy with them was his brother, but also having a good time joking and laughing with me. When her husband explained to her for the 2nd time exactly where the bathrooms were and she left, I asked him what had happened and he told me she had alzheimers, she is only 57 and he told me she has less than 4 years before they think she will die from this. Her mother and sister have passed away from it, it is inherited. She was so young, it was sad, she was a lovely lady and had told me all about her 2 grown daughters. Wow, makes you stop and think.
My latest book is Dan Brown's new one, bought it at the airport in Vegas b/c I forgot and packed my other book. Ouch, had to pay full price for the hardback, I hate to do that when I know Kroger and Sam's sell them at discount.
WW is going well.

Hi gals..Back to 151..I hope I hang on until our weigh-in this week..Now, let's think of an October thread name???? Anyone???

Mary Kay: Please tell me that your mother doesn't have a stove in her kitchen. Is this an Alzheimers' place? Gosh, 500 square feet is amazing.. How nice for her..

Cindy: I'm a cook book addict, too..

Sandy: How is it going this week? How is your dad's shoulder??

Buffy: Okay..we know you will make it to Onederland on the WW express for sure..

Early on-set Alzheimers is horrible. My old roomie died last year at the age of 58 after having AD for 6 years. It seems to go faster in younger people..So sad.

The only Oct thread name I can think of that'll fit me is Fat Little Jack-O-Lantern. This has not been a good month for me at all.
Dad got a cortisone shot in his shoulder this a.m. and is scheduled for an MRI this week and an EMG. His arm and hand is going to sleep so they want to check his nerves. If the shot doesn't give him relief it's a shoulder replacement for him. I'm praying the shot works.

Mom's place is totally cleaned out!
My Family Room is a mess!
And will remain that way until I have time to deal with it!

Sandy - I hope the shot fixes it too! He doesn't need that kind of surgery if he can avoid it!

Carolyn - yes, she does have a stove in the kitchen, but they've turned off the breaker to it so it doesn't work. She hasn't cooked in 4 years, so I don't think she'd even think about it, but who knows!

My weight is awful too - all Ive done is eat out stress and drink!
I guess Awful October isn't very motivating is it!

Buffy - that's so sad!!! How's the new Dan Brown? I love his books!!

Cindy - I love to look at cookbooks!! It is a nice place.

Sandy: I hope the shot helps..Does he have the series of 3 shots??? or just the one shot?
I would hate to have him have surgery...scarey..

Now...we have to think more positively about October........Remember, Buffy is on WW and Cindy has her new meds..

MaryKay: Thank God the breaker is off on the stove. My mom would turn her gas stove ON and forget how to turn it off, so my brother put a gas shut off where she couldn't see it. Glad your mother's other place is all cleaned out. Now, you have your Mom off to college, like the other "kids".. Take a rest..

How about Bewitching in October???

Love the name Carolyn.

MK, let's hope and pray those "camp leaders" have had plenty of experience and know just how to make your mom feel comfortable and at home quickly.

Cindy, that medical mission trip sounds like a wonderful opportunity. Is it through a local organization?

I have a busy, busy week this week. I like being busy but then when I am I long to be lazy on the couch with a good book or my fav TV show. Maybe I'm just never satisfied, lol.

Morning!
Love Bewitching in October! There is a reason Carolyn is our fearless leader
I have started WW so many times it is impossible to even think of the number but oh my, I was thinking yesterday of how it has changed over the years. I was in my 20's the first time I went, so nearly 40 years ago. I would like to know the number of calories they figured at that time b/c it was cruel. 4 oz of lean meat twice a day, only the very LC veggies, 1 or 2 fruits, sugar never touched your lips, 2 skim milks. It had to be very low calorie and you did lose quickly on it, IF you could stand it. Today people lose soooo slowly on it but it is very livable. I almost feel like I am eating way too much to even get my daily points in, I go to bed stuffed but I will do it like it is written and give it a fair try. Have been trying to eat the healthy stuff and not the junk.
The new Dan Brown book is great, I just really want to go hide with it and read it cover to cover but I have too much that needs to be done right now in the office. Read a little on it every night but reading puts me to sleep in my old age
Carolyn, good for you, sounds like the 151 is sticking. Your new meds must be right.

Hi..

MK: I love the 2 year old going to camp scenario.. Hoping the counselors watch the campers very carefully..

Buffy: Yup...I've done WW 3 times with lots of success, but I went off 3 times, too. Funny thing is that you have to do the plan..

Sandy: Balance is the key..I really appreciate being home alone when I'm busy..

Finished my sweater and it fits.. Yippee..

Morning!!

After a freezing soccer game last night, I slept really well!
I'm ready to tackle MY stuff today.
I spent 4 hours yesterday working on changing some of Mom's addresses - of course everyone wants my POA . . . .

Anyway . . . .

Carolyn - post a pic of your sweater!
And I hate the fact that you have to do a plan to make it work!

Buffy - I liked the WW where you checked off the boxes. It kept me honest!
Dan Brown is hard to put down!

Sandy - what's up the rest of the week?

Morning.
Need coffee, have had a headache for the past 2 days, weather???
Fall like weather here in TX and I love it. Gets pretty warm during the day but the nights are a little cool which I love.
Made apples in the crockpot the other day, they are sooooo good. I want to eat a huge serving they are so good but one apples worth is just a little dish you I savor it with a little cool whip on top.
More office work today, hey, I did see the surface of my desk in some areas yesterday so am making progress. DGS walking here after school today so I will get out ahead of time and do my walking, then meet up with him at school.
MK, so many things like changing addresses on mags, etc., that a person doesn't even think about having to be done. Little at a time!!
Carolyn, a sweater, my gosh.
Hi Sandy, Hi Kim, hi Gord and everyone else....

Those apples sound yummy Buffy!

I liked the check boxes too MK. I think sometimes I crave a strict regimen with an actual blueprint to follow and that was like that. The rest of today I'm just chilling. Tomorrow is Bible study, lunch with a friend and who knows what else will pop up. Friday is a meeting at church in the a.m. and then the American Royal BBQ in the evening. I hope the weather doesn't mess that plan up. We have 2 friends competing this year.

Yes, an organization called Medical Missions Foundation here in KC. I'm doing my Philippines trip in a couple of weeks with them also.

I scored 2 small cans of pumpkin at Walmart today. Felt like I really was lucky. They were the last 2.

Hi gals..

Cindy, did you arm wrestle for the pumpkin? I don't think many people know that us pumpkin lovers are having a withdrawal UNTIL they get the pumpkin for Tday..Big shock, but let's hope there will be more in the stores by then.

Sandy: Owww...Barbecue..KCity is the bestest place for it, I know.

Mary Kay...I know..that Power of A is a pain in the neck. I remember that stuff...

When Gary comes back..he has the camera, I'll have him take a picture of the sweater for ya..

I love apples..I made a very nommie apple crisp the other day and mixed 2 cukes in there with the apples. You couldn't tell and it saved some carbs, too. I had my fruit/veggies all together.

Buffy: I'm sure you will do great on WW..How many points did they give you???

Morning!!

I totally ignored my mom's stuff yesterday and cleaned some of the house - I was on a roll and then DH took me out to lunch and I lost all momentum!
But I'm staying home all day today and I'll be back at it.

It's 53 here, so I might actually get in a walk!!

Now where is that October thread??!!
