MK, that's great news. I hope everything goes perfect at the eval.

Hi gals..

Cindy: Thanks for the information about the potassium sparing water pill. I just took one cuz I had a salty lunch..............We will see how it goes..literally.

Mary Kay: Prayers for a good evaluation. I remember the one with Betty. The Assisted Living one was alot harder than the nursing home one. I think they are just checking for a good fit for everyone and what your mom might need there. Let us know..Hope she reacted positively.

Buffy: Enjoy Vegas by yourself..I'm sure you will get plenty of R & R.. You need a break from all your family running around.. Sorry about your cousin's dh's heart attack.
Gosh..it's always something, huh?

Sandy: Gosh, it is nice and cool here..79 degrees..Hopefully, the fall will be nice..KState is playing UCLA on Saturday..Good luck!! It's going to on tv in the evening. Might be too painful to watch.

One more day and I'll get to stay at home.
Can't wait.

Today is blood test and flu shot for me, taking my mom to the new place for lunch and a tour, bringing her home, collapsing.

One more day of *insert heartfelt indies here*!
Sorry!

Hang in there MK. Saying a prayer for you and your mom that all goes perfect today. Put on your super woman cape one more time for today. And tomorrow you need to set aside just for you, ok? A great big hug inserted here for you too.

Morning peeps!
Wow, MK, you do need a wonderwoman cape. Hope all goes well today and you find it a fit for your mom.
I think I will enjoy Vegas and even enjoy being alone for several days. After 10 days solid with DH I am even ready to ditch him for awhile .
Had a fun day with DD's MIL yesterday and then brought DGS home with me for the evening while they went out to dinner. DD's MIL is great, one of the nicest people who constantly does for others but she is also a huge worry wart and I got an afternoon of all the things she was concerned about regarding her son and how he was treating my daughter, they adore my DD and it was their son's first marriage at mid-30's, they seem worried that DD will not find him worthy , we think he is just fine as does DD. rrrrrrt
Uh, that rrrrrrt was Fluffy the cat doing the typing, sorry.
Weight down a lb since weighing after vacation, hmm, how unusual is that????
Sandy, sure wish you could meet me in Vegas too, I would find a pool for you, alas no beaches that I am aware of

Fluffy is good at cat typing.. Alex sits on my lap sometimes, then walks on the keyboard..What a great minlaw your dd has..

Sandy, when are you going to your new doctor?? I'm so anxious to hear the results.

Hi Cindy..

I have my yearly in Nov. I'm going to see how that goes and then decide Carolyn. I hate switching Drs. if I don't absolutely have to, YKWIM? I just need to get all my facts and info organized so I sound somewhat intelligent when I go in, lol.

Hi

Hi Ladies,

Just checking in. I meant to be in touch more but finding a new life direction is proving hard work

I'm in the process now of applying for a part-time study course in theology, politics and faith-organizations with a view to working in the charity or government sectors long-term. I have always worked for faith-based organizations up to now but there are virtually no jobs of the sort I can move into after my previous job. It's an exciting time.

I continue to NOT overeat on this new approach of only eating when hungry and stopping when full on generally smaller portions + eating a little of what I fancy and avoidance of bored snacking. I eat two meals a day + the odd small snack if there's a long wait. The thing that really fills me up is scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and a slice and a half of toast. I could probably eat one meal a day on a diet like that. But alongside the usual meat, chicken, fish, I have added low starch grains like quinoa and oat cakes and prorridge. I know that Barry Groves talked about us having an automatic stop signal relative to fat levels but I find that comes into operation with a higher percentage of carbs in the mix.

I also have cream with fruit. Still overdo the cream and puddings when I really fancy that level of sweetness but I try to balance the sweetness with fruit like berries.

I am losing weight super slowly. A pound in three weeks. Four pounds in all since mid August. But at least the weight is coming off and I'm not over eating or stuffing. Hoorah!!!

That's it for now.

xx

Hi Kapri, It sounds like you've found a plan that works for you quite well. 4 pounds in a month is not bad at all. Keep up the good work and stop by when you can. Good luck on the job search too.

MK, that's wonderful news. Not today you should take the phone off the hook and just take a "me" day for yourself. Or at least screen your calls. I know as a mom/wife/daughter we really can't take the phone off the hook can we?

Morning friends,

Great news MK and yes, take today and then some more time after getting Mom moved in next week. I screen both my phone and my door anymore, LOL.

Karen, 1 lb per week is a very good plan, good luck on working your plan and a slow, continuing loss.

Carolyn, Sandy, Kim, you guys have got me wondering about which Dr. I really want to go to for my thyroid, after this last blood test where the endo left my meds alone after the TSH was so high. DH goes to the VA and the clinic and Dr. he goes to are wonderful, he has the fullest, bestest care. Complete physical every 6 months to a year, I never get what I would call a full physical, have one Dr. who treats bp, another who does female stuff, the endo who does the diabetes and thyroid, I want a one stop doc shop who does it all and I think my family dr. would do that, but, is he really qualified enough to do it right? He is good about sending you on if he thinks there is a serious question he can't handle, maybe I should just go to him for everything, he is very willing to listen and work with me??? Hmmm, I need to mull this over and decide, I don't like working with several doctors who have little idea of what the other ones are doing.

Yes, DD has a wonderful MIL but DD called this morning to say that after they took them to the airport at the end of the week long visit that DD and SIL were totally exhausted from all the drilling of thier lives that they get from MIL. She is thoughtful and caring but worries herself and then others to death on every little detail of their lifes.

Hi ladies...

Gosh, I was at 151 today..Don't faint..Yesterday I did 4 protein shakes and a meal of LC lasagne (noodles made with chicken breast meat from the deli)..
I got the new Eades book, "6 weeks.." something like that. Honestly, I have been upping my fat and watching my protein..But, who knows???

Mary Kay..We are all so thankful to God that this will work out for your mom.
As you know, she may have an adjustment time, but she will get through it and soon will feel right at home there..I'm sure you are very relieved. Will she keep her same doctor? or will she get a new one up there?? Does she have her own room??

Kapri: Yeah for you... Hey, any weight lost is wonderful and slow is always best, I say..Slow weight loss is more permanent..Good luck on your study program. It sounds very interesting.

Sandy: Hope things are better for your dad and his shoulder. I had a yoga class yesterday and I am kinda sore..What do you do for stretching exercises? My hamstrings are so darned tight..

Buffy: I go to a regular doctor for my female/yearly stuff plus any infections I might pick up. Then I have my PA in the next town who treats my "thyroid" and BHRT. She is "with it" about the thyroid, etc..My regular doctor isn't.
You need to find someone who "knows" about T3 and will test FreeT3 and
will give you T3 if you need it. Google Top Thyroid Doctors and you will find a list near you.

Hi Cindy: Hope you are doing okay..Did they find anything about that terrible murder in your dh's family? Justice is so slow.

Carolyn - I think she'll like it. We will have to get a new doctor because I don't think our docs would have privileges in that town.

She has her own room and it's huge! Much bigger than her old place.

Did you like yoga? I really need to get back to that!

Buffy - it's so hard to wade through all this medical stuff! You're doing a great job!

Morning peeps!
Whoo Hoo Carolyn on 151, been awhile so I know you are very happy about that. Seems new meds are working for you!!!

MK, a big, private room is really a plus for your mom.

My kids already "tease"? me about picking out the home for me, although I know when it happens for real it is no teasing matter but they have fun with it now. If we are somewhere sightseeing, etc., they will make comments like "do you think we have mom lost enough now that we can take her to the home and she can't find her way back", you know, things like that. I'm afraid my kids inherited my sarcastic humor, yikes!

DS send me a photo and an email yesterday, he has been selected to be the leader of a group of young children they are introducing to the golf program and teaching them about goals and choices. I am very proud of him and he will be great at that.

DD#2 sent us photos yesterday of her at 24 weeks with DGS and her now at 24 weeks with the expected Jan. baby. Same clothes, same pose and we are to guess if it is a boy or girl. She is carrying this baby much higher, hmmm, does that mean anything? I have it in my head it is a girl but have absolutely no reason to think that, nor, do I care if it is a girl or boy, but I find myself looking at little tiny pink things in stores, LOL.

Off to Vegas this afternoon to win my fortune, wish me luck

Hi ladies..Yep, still at 151 this morning..I'm waiting for the weight gain to come back..

MKay: Will your mom be able to bring more personal furniture for the room? Big is always good especially if they get woobly. Was the food good??? The yoga was very good and very beginner, which is what I like. None of the standing on your head thing. It's hard to find a good beginning class.

Buffy: Yup..behave in Vegas..Have fun. I think "high" means girl.

Sandy: I think KState is playing UCLA..eeek..It will be on tv for those brave enough to watch.

Cindy: How are your new meds working??

The jury is out but my hair loss has slowed even more to almost normal. Maybe normal, I obsess about it so much, if I lose a hair I think I'm going bald. However, when i was hypo, I did lose about 20%. If the hair loss has sopped, my levels have got to be better.

MK, will your mom understand she is moving?

Buffy, if you strike gold, you can hire your own chef!

Kapri, good to see you back. 1 pound in 3 weeks is frustrating. If I'm putting any effort into anything, I have to see immediate results!

Sorry I've been MIA all day. Very busy day and evening. Now I'm off to bed. Wishing Buffy great luck in Vegas. I hope you win big!!!

I used to do yoga with a friend at her house with DVDs. We were getting pretty good and then we stopped b/c of ??? I'd like to find a beginner class or get started with the DVD again. My knee has been hurting this weekend so I'm thinking I might have to lighten up on my running plan for a bit. Maybe I'll replace it with yoga this week?

Morning!

Yesterday DH and I went to Springfield to watch DS17 play in two soccer games, then we met with DD25 and I showed them both where my mom will be living. Then lunch, home to go to the art fair, church, and a party with friends until 10:00pm.

I passed out about 10:30.

Of course I have a head-cold, but I can't take time off to be sick until Thursday! This will be a busy week getting mom packed and moved!

Thank heavens my favorite BFF sent me some Cameron's coffee - it's the bright spot in my morning since we'll have to go over and start packing up mom today!

Sandy - be careful with your knee!

Carolyn - it is hard to find a good beginning yoga class. Everyone wants to do something really hard - or hot yoga!
And the food was really good! We have the movers just bringing the stuff from her old place right now ~ after it's placed, we'll see if she needs more.

Cindy - congrats on the slowing hair-loss!!! Maybe some of it is just normal seasonal stuff!
My mom is very aware - mainly why I needed assisted living not nursing home care!
She seemed excited about her new place!

Buffy - I keep asking which of my kids is going to take me in!
I think high is a girl too. Though I always heard to look at someone from the back - if you can't tell they're pregnant it's a boy. If they look bigger, it's a girl!

Hi..

MKay: It's good that you showed your kiddos where Grandma was going to be. Is she going to be in Springfield? I'm sure there are some good doctors there, too. Will this
place transport the residents to doctor's appointments? Betty's did and it was totally wonderful as she was wheelchair bound.

Off to a ladies' tea. We ate Mexican today..we didn't eat too many chips..Plus I came home and took a water pill to flush out the salt..(hope it works).

Sad day for KState..They lost, however, they played better this week (the experts said).

Brett called to ask me to send him a small plunger for his contacts. Now,...I said that he should go find one at an eye doctor's office in Manhattan. We have to train our boys to be independent..

I usually go by morning sickness when I'm picking the sex of a baby. No sickness, girl, sick, boy. I just won a Bonefish dinner predicting that way, lol. Not very scientific of course, lol.

Sounds like things are looking up for your mom's situation MK. Good deal!!

We went to a Wild Game BBQ party last night. We had duck wrapped with bacon and grilled and deep fried wild turkey fingers. Pheasant kabobs and a bite of grilled grizzly bear!! I really liked the duck and turkey. I didn't like the bear so much; very gamey taste and I didn't try the pheasant. It was quite a gastronomical experience, lol. The "kids" DH work with invited us. We were the oldest ones there of course and could've been grandparents to probably 1/2 of them but we had a good time and I think they did too. Nobody was discussing any illnesses, lolol. So we didn't bring up any of ours, lol.

Sandy, you are sooooo funny..No one brought up their illnesses..I love it. I would have liked the duck with bacon..But, I didn't know turkeys had "fingers"..LOLL Pheasant is very nice, but I don't think I would have eaten Big Ben. Bear can be tough and you have to cook it a special way..

On the baby discussion..Yes, I think I was sicker with Brett than with Beth..Another one is a girl has a faster heart beat.

Now that one is true!

Sandy, that BBQ sounded like fun and you could do LC easily!

Carolyn, I did Mexican today also. I try to avoid the chips but it is difficult.

MK, Tom's mom is still with it enough to know that every time she stays with her daughter, after a day she wants to go home. It will make it hard to move her when the time comes.

The Dr. told me my son was another girl based on the heart beat so that wasn't true for me. I was sick as a dog with him though, lol.

Sad to say, I did not only eat the wild game at the cookout. I've been pretty bad lately. I really have to get a grip! I'm going the wrong direction! Maybe I should check the map again, lol.

I also ate so many crackers and other things - that I gained 40lbs with each kid - I didn't get morning sickness with any of them. If I felt queasy, I ate!

Carolyn - definitely, our boys need to be independent!!

Sandy - I love going out with "youngsters". And they haven't any illnesses - lucky ducks! I'd love to try that BBQ!!

Cindy - that will be one of the hardest parts with mom so far away - picking her up and taking her back will turn into an hour each way!

I have PEO today and more mom packing. Woo hoo!

Ok, I'm making an announcement. I'm getting back on track today. And I mean it. I've creeped up past my "safe zone" and that scares me. Hopefully a lot of it is water from days and days of eating wrong but I doubt it all is. I just need to get a hold on this now so wish me luck. And will power too, lol.
