Oh, Carolyn, that gives me goosebumps!! I'd love to read those! You should publish them!! My dad found an old journal from someone we never even knew and I find it soooo interesting to read. And so does my oldest granddaughter. So much so I've decided to start my own journal for her to find when I'm long gone. If somebody we didn't even know is that fascinating, I should be too, lol. And to have letters from your own grandparents especially when letter writing was such an are. Oh, I wish I could see them and read them too!! I'm so excited for you!! I bet you couldn't tell???

I did a journal when I was in Afghanistan. I never missed a day. It is interesting to read now, even though I was there only 5 years ago.

Went to WF today. I'm still new at this so it takes me forever to get through it. But I am developing favorites:

Rudy's Organic hot dog buns (not LC)
Applegate Farms Organic grass fed beef uncured hot dogs
Ezekial Bread and buns
Amy's Organic frozen dinners (eat sparingly)
Fage Yogurt
Coconut milk
Wholly Wholesome frozen cookie dough (for BF. Ingredient list reads like your pantry: organic oats, evap. cane juice, butter, ect with no preservatives)
Fresh pasta (again, mostly for BF but I may have to have a bite of the smoked Gouda ravioli)
The entire bakery case (Darn that BF)

Sandy: Letter writing was an art in the olden days..(even in the 40's). Yes, these letters cause a range of emotions...Really, they are overwhelming...When you think about it, letter writing was the only way of communicating even to peeps in the States. Making a long distance phone call was a major event..I'm glad you are doing a journal. I think that is a good idea. My great Aunt wrote a 30 page journal as to what it was like growing up in NH as a young girl in the 1890's. My mother typed it up and I have made copies for the family. Lots of changes since then.

Wow..Cindy, what were doing in Afghanistan?? Nursing?? Your BF has a sweet tooth, doesn't he??

Linda's Calvin is still at Ft. Riley..Rumors of deployment, but nothing yet. She said the GI's gossip more than jr. high girls..

I was telling my DH all about your letters Carolyn. He agrees with me about what a treasure you have there.

Cindy, were you a nurse over there?

Tell Linda I've always known men were worse than women for gossiping, no matter the age, lol. They just don't know it!

I have Blackberry Eye Strain! I wonder if my health ins. will cover treatment, lol.

Morning!

Carolyn - how cool!!! Those are so special!!!

Sandy - I don't I have anything going on that anyone would care to read about in 100 years! Your "Crackberry" sounds fantastic!

Cindy - WF is such a fun place! I always have to get Fage when I go. I also love Amy's dairy-free stuff. Though it's not LC.

I went out last night to the cookout without DH - he came later.
The car that they "fixed" in St L broke again about 10 miles up the road.
The place felt so bad, they called Enterprise for DH and he came home - finally - about 8:00pm.

Can anyone say "Cash for Clunkers"?

No, it is not and it isn't high enough protein for me. There is a Mexican bowl that you can throw chicken or beef on top of that is good and i like their enchiladas.

Sandy and Carolyn, I was doing anesthesia at a surgical hospital. It was a hospital made of interlocking tents. We had 2 ORs and could do a total of 4 surgerys at a time. We had 2-3 cats that roamed the hospital and were welcome. They kept the mice down. They would wonder into the OR during surgery and I would have to get up and gently face them toward the door. They were cute. People would send me care packages and their pets would include a care package for the kitties!!

Yes...I do have a treasure..Many of the letters were typed and I have the carbon copies..
Remember those??? I am going to try to translate the Italian ones on-line. I know peeps that can speak Italian, but I am going to see what happens when I translate.

Now, Cindy..How exciting for you and scarey. I was thinking of MASH, too. (My favorite show)..Should we call you "Margaret?"

Yes, Cash for Clunkers sounds like a good deal for your dh's car. What a bummer..

Was up a bit from the taco chips at the Mexican restaurant last night. You know, I think I should have skipped the meal (which was very light) and just ate the chips.
Brett was with us, so we indulged..

Did a WW call this morning and walked 45 minutes. Have a great day, ladies and Gord.

Hey , what do you all think about this stuff? I don't know if it's the old stuff reintroduced or a new formula. I've never tried the old stuff.

Hey, Klinger..No..That bake stuff is very similar to the old formulation of the Bake Mix that Atkins sold. There is too much soy in there for me to buy it. And, sometimes, soy has a very twangy taste..

Well, took Brett back to school shopping. He is LCing, so got some bars, shakes, etc. for quick breakies. I also bought some Sara Lee Delightful Burger Buns..Gary will flip if he actually has a real burger with a bun. I think there were about 8 net carbs in the whole bun.

We are going to the local rodeo tonight. I wasn't going to go, but the rain has stopped, so I think I will..Hopefully, the bulls won't escape.

Running with the bulls in Independence!!! Look out Carolyn! No really if you have the nice cool temps we do tonight it sounds great. Anything outside right now if great.

So Cindy, maybe Hot Lips??? I'm thinking MASH too. Was Margaret Hotlips real name? I forgot. Too long ago. Sounds like an exciting time. Were you in the military??

Cash for Clunkers?? We have one too but we're trying to outwait it.
The old journal we found sometimes (most times) only had notations of what the weather was like that day or how much wheat he harvested, or what he bought in town that day, so it really doesn't matter what you write about, when you're gone, "it's interesting", lol. Too bad we have to wait til then, but hey, that's life. And death, I guess. MK, with all your goings on, start a journal. Just start small. But think of your ancestors!

Morning!

I got a good night's sleep!
I feel wonderful! *dancing*

I was so beat yesterday, I didn't get anything done.
I'm motivated today!

Sandy - I think my ancestors would be bored silly! I found an old journal from a long time ago and it was mainly complaining. I don't want to leave that as my legacy!

Yep - Hotlips was Margaret!

Morning everyone.
Checking in from DD's house, whew, babysitting a 15 month old is very demanding and he is a very very very busy little guy. thank heavens the nanny comes daily, I don't think I could do it 24/7, even his mommy says that. And, #2 is due around the 1st of the year, boy, it will really be busy. busy busy here then. I do slip out during the day though and go to a movie, or do a little shopping.
Wow, some interesting stuff you guys have been talking about. I love hearing about the old letters, journals, etc. And hot lips of course, LOL.
Eating pretty good right now except I do have popcorn at the movies when I go now, the byetta makes that possible.

Talking about travel, DH's and car trouble. my DH left last Wed. on a business trip, driving the 1 ton diesel truck, the first day he filled up at a BP gas station where all the pumps have green handles, which is typically an indication that it is a diesel pump. Well, he put regular gasoline in his diesel, the next morning it wouldn't start so he had to have it towed to a repair station and repaired, thankfully it didn't cause a lot of damage. Then, that day, he banged up one of the fenders on the golf course he was working on, backed into a tree trying to get out of a tight spot. So, the trip was not going well at all but after that things perked up and went fine, he is on his way home today and should be home tonight. I will go home from here on Tues., DD & DSIL will get home early tuesday morning.
Have a great day everyone!

Hi..

The Rodeo was fun and no one died..Those bucking bulls and horses are very scarey. But, they are beautiful animals..

Buffy: What a bummer..I hate it when car things happen, don't you? Sleep when the baby sleeps and thank God for nannies.

MK: Cindy does look a little like Hotlips, right Sandy? Lots of energy and a pretty blonde.

Sandy: Anyone in your family go to Avila College? Beth is thinking of taking some classes there.

I was bad..Another Mexican lunch after church..Brett's favorite. I ate chips..Forgive me.
Honestly, I had no control when they put hot taco chips in front of me..No control..

Yes, I think our Cindy could pass for a member of Hotlips' family. What an adventure!

Buffy, I'm tired just reading of your days, lol. And yes, thank goodness for nannies!

I have no control with chips either. Heck, lately, I have no control...... period!!

DD22 is coming home! For a visit or is she back?

Happy early birthday to DS16 going on 17. He's your youngest right?

I'm up a couple pounds from the weekend which is pretty normal for me. I need to be very good this week as I'm sure next week I'll be eating too much. We're going to Siesta Key for a week and all I can think about is beach time and seafood. Two of my favorite things. Now if the hurricane will just cooperate!

Sandy - DD22 is coming home for just a week.
Summer school is over and the regular year doesn't start until Aug 31.

I can't wait to see her!

Yep - DS16 is my baby. I can't believe how time has flown!

Where is Siesta Key? And can I come too?

Hi gals..

Still at 154, which is good for me after a visit to Tacoville..No Margaritaville for me, just Tacoville..

MK: How fun..Aren't you anxious to hear about her summer adventure? My dd is thinking of going to get her Master's in Drama so she can teach drama. She will just go
in KCity ..no big NY adventures..

Sandy: You can do it...hunker down this week, so you can enjoy next week..We are going to Branson with friends this weekend..My "skinny" friend has always had portion control, so it will be a good thing for me to be with her.

Hi Cindy and everyone else that stops by. Oppps....there goes Buffy on a fly-by..

Carolyn - I'm not sure I even knew you had a daughter! No, wait, I did . . . .
I guess we talk about Brett more!

If she's getting her Master's in Drama, she should go to NY - just for fun!

Congrats on the 154 still! I usually spend more time in Margaritaville than Tacoville!

Siesta Key is right outside of Sarasota. I can't wait!!

I forgot to answer your ?? Carolyn. No, nobody in our family has gone to Avila but I've heard it's a very good school. It should be convenient for Beth too. Have fun in Branson. It's always a fun place to visit.

MK, talk about time flying??? My oldest grandson will be 24 on the 29th of this month. That is just mind boggling to me and I've been here for the whole trip, lol.

Yup..Beth is 27, married and lives in KCity..She was a drama/communication major at KU and did lots of plays when she was in highschool..Hopefully, she can figure out which classes to take and the schools will cooperate..

Sandy: You are way too young to have a grandson who is 24!!!! You guys got started early, huh? We are the same age my Brett is only 22..

Had my first knitting class...I am going there for advice. The boy knitters are doing very well..no kidding.

I do remember Beth!

It rained her again last night so the new flowers I planted have a shot of making it through the fall!

DD22 called and she's leaving NY on Wednesday - she'll be here a whole day earlier!! That probably means she'll leave a day earlier too, but . . . .

Hi..

I think if I don't exercise first thing in the a.m., then I don't do it..So I shower, dress to exercise and go..Did that, then went to Bartlesville with Dianne..I had to get some knitting needles for my socks that I am knitting, plus sock yarn, too. We hit the sales and saved a whole bunch of money..LOLOL.

Yeah, MK...I'm sure you and your dd will have some great times.

Sandy: Yeah for early exercising and doing it.

Guys worked on the deck/house today. It threatened rain, but they made it though.

I got some bargain short sleeve shirts for Gary at Penneys..I'm ironing them now in
my dryer with a wet towel..(Favorite way to iron)

I have an iron just like that Carolyn! And it's my favorite one too.

My massage was great. Since I've been home I've been playing with my Blackberry some more. I have an ancient vs. of Outlook and couldn't ever figure out how to get it to sync the calendar to my BB so I decided to use the google calendar and it works great!! Now watch, they'll start charging for it! I sure hope not.

I'd like to go shop Penney's sale too but I don't think I'm going to have time b4 we leave on our trip. I really don't need anything but I hate to miss a sale.
