Coconut Oil Question
I've been reading about CO for a couple of weeks and I bought some. It's liquid, but I know I saw some in a store that was solid--like shortening. Is one better for you than the other?
I made a fudge recipe that was left in one of the threads and I'm waiting for it to set up--but I worried that since I used liquid oil it isn't going to work. Thanks for all your help |

Thanks for the responses--You're right. Once it was in the cupboard it hardened. I've been using it for a couple weeks now and really liking it. Thanks for the help.

I live in Belize and coconut oil is everywhere.. many people here make it and sell it because everyone has coconut palms in their yard. How do you use? I mean for what purposes.. baking, frying...? We used it one time for frying something because we had heard that CO was good for you but we didn't like the taste of the food. Maybe what they sell here is too pure.. I don't know. I can buy it in the grocery store.. maybe that is different.

I get the Virgin kind. It's white and has the consistency of peanut butter. I take a teaspoon of CO and a teaspoon of fermented cod liver oil first thing in the morning.
Any way...the whiter it looks in the jar when you purchase it, the thicker and more solid it is! Good stuff :-) |

I use cocnut oil, mostly for stir fry though. How often do you use it and for what purposes? Did you really notice this to be an aid for your weight loss? I heard that some people stir it up in the coffee every morning.

Jamistar--after posting the original question, I got some CO and have used it quite a bit. It does seem to help my weight loss--I stay fuller when I have some and lose at a more steady rate. I stir a tsp into my Pero (non-caffinated coffe substitute) and I make some Coconut bark and have a piece every day. I can't say it's the only thing that works, but it certainly hasn't hurt my weight loss and it's very satiating. Good luck
