Yes, it is a lot, but it fried the circuit board. We were lucky it didn't fry the motor and that the compressor was ok. We didn't get any more bad weather after that 20 minute storm came through. It sure did a lot of damage in that 20 minutes though.

I put fresh green beans in the crock pot. I don't know how much DH will feel like eating though. He's at the dentist getting prepped for a crown. Yuck! I need one too but I keep putting it off.

MK, my DC 15 has a UTI right now. Meds twice a day. She LOVES being held down for the banana smelling liquid to be forced down her throat!

Carolyn, my doc said he himself has been hypothyroid since age 14. He tried Armour and said he put on 8 pounds and still can't get it off. We are going to do a thyroid panel in 6 weeks and he says he is inclined to leave me on synthroid if my free T3 is fine. He added DHEA to my mix as he said my free testosterone is low. He said the hair loss and weight gain is thyroid and it should resolve after being on meds in 4-6 weeks. I'm dropping my calories to 1200 until it kicks in.

I will say the Metformin helps with hunger. My blood sugars are fine.

Hi..

I can't imagine holding down my DC for meds..Hmmm..that is interesting about the Armour and your doctor. I'm glad that he is testing the whole panel to see if your Free T3 is okay.Did he give you any Synthroid??? It should be interesting how well 1200 calories works for you. PM me again with this doctor's name..There is another KC gal who lives in KC and needs a good doctor.

Gosh, Sandy..Good thing only the circuit board was bad.. Bad enough..I love fresh green beans..I don't like crowns..I had one..

Well, the sycamore tree that goes through our deck and over our roof is being cut down tomorrow. I won't be home some of the day, so hopefully, someone will be there to call
911 if necessary. I think there will be 2 guys working. I had to move my pool.

My soup was the standard chicken broth, celery, onion, spinach, meatballs, diced tomatoes in the crockpot..Very good....and zukes, too. We will eat this tomorrow night and I will freeze the rest.

The Bachelorette was good tonight.. Who knows??? Sandy has given it up.

Morning!

Weight went clear down to 207 something, then back up to 212, now it is back down to 210. Hope it keeps on going back down to 207 and beyond. It should, my appetite is so reduced that I just don't eat much.

Well, busy week getting things done before DD#1 and DGS get here WEd. night. Sat. I am keeping DGS 1 for the day while they go to a water park and I will be trying to get some salads made while I have him for a get together on Sun. Potato salad, and have to put thinking cap on to figure out some others. It is sooooo hot here right now that the only thing that sounds good is cold salads.

Oh Carolyn, I'll bet you hate to lose that tree if it provided a lot of shade to the deck and house. This time of year I wish we had huge trees on every side and inch of our house to overhang it and cool it. I think we are in like the 9th day of over 100 degree heat now. But, supposed to cool down to mid-90's for the weekend so that will be nice for a few days.

Wow Sandy, that must have been on close huge lightning strike. I hate the bother and work and having to get everything fixed, replaced, etc., but hopefully your insurance will cover it.

I had a little fender scrape last night, I was driving my DH's dually and turned by a car a smidge too close and scraped the headlight and little light on the side of the other car. It was in a parking lot so I left a note with info for them to call us. I was so mad at myself, I forget how wide that stupid truck is and hate to drive it anyway.

Back to work!

Weeded part of the garden, walked a couple of miles, got a massage, the guy came and put up my new blinds, ate lunch . . . .

Buffy - I'm glad you're OK!

Carolyn - do you HAVE to cut down the trees?

Cindy - luckily I don't have to hold my mom down . . . .

On the tree deal...Yes, we have to cut it down..It is very close to the house and very, very big. It is hanging over the roof and the roots are probably affecting the foundation.
We have lots more trees around the yard, so we will have some shade.

Holding your mom down..LOLO

Buffy: Glad you are coming on down.. 210 is getting there...We are all rooting for you.
Slow and steady is the best way to lose weight.

Is Sandy plugged in yet? LOLOL.

MK, I was going to say that but I wasn't sure if you would find it funny!

Carolyn, yes, I started Synthroid 2 weeks ago when i first saw the results. I felt better in 2 days but my hair still falls out. He said it wqasn't my hormone replacement as everything is within normal range except my free testosterone was low so he added DHEA to the mix. He said it would take 4-6 weeks on Synthroid to stop the hair loss. Lord, I have 5 meds in my cream and take Synthroid. 3 months ago, I was on nothing! But I feel better so bring on the drugs!!

Hello, temporarily. Still lost here in KC. My PC's main chip was fried. I just bought a refurbished tower from the guy for $80 and am waiting for the cable guy to come fix everything like it's supposed to be. I hope he can do it. I'm plugged directly into the wireless router right now and that works. I can't get the internet on the PC though still. Just the laptop and not even that wirelessly. I also still don't have phones! Just my cell. I'm rethinking my decision to move to Time Warner for everything. But hey I was mad at Everest when I did. Now I might get to rethink my angry decision making. Anyway, hopefully they'll fix it and things will go somewhat back to normal.

Thanks for thinking of me.

Sandy: Good thing you are a technie..I would have to recruit help for any decisions..

Well, it's another soup night, but Gary will be fine with it. Both of his cars are in the shop..so I had to drive him to work today. (15 miles). Hopefully he can get a ride to town and I will pick him up.

Noone has died yet while taking down our tree..thank God. This tree was extremely tall and they had a big boom to get the top off of it..Then they will clean everything up..
(My favorite part).

Hope everyone is okay..I bought some capris a few weeks ago..they were a little tight, but a good price. They are still a little tight, so I will have to hit it hard so I can wear them on vacation..

I HAVE to stay home tomorrow though and get something done!

Carolyn - the capri's can be your weigh-in pants! I know you'll fit into them soon!

Cindy - I find everything funny about my mom at this point!

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi!

I'm new to this plan but have been reading and reading the forum and I think I have a good idea of layout. I will be trying to hunt down the book(s) this weekend, too.

I've read this month's challenge thread to try and get to know you guys a bit Some of you I've seen on the board for as long as I've been coming to LCF.

A bit about me. I've lost and gained and lost and gained... actually maintained for about 6 months once lol. I am 100 lbs down from my highest weight ever but 8 lbs up (and climbing) since the summer started. I used Atkins but never climbed the rungs, just super extended induction till I was blue in the face. And now, I'd rather poke myself in the eye than go back down to induction levels. LOL I'd like to drop 15 lbs by Christmas and I think ol' Barry Groves just might be able to help.

I'm happily married 34 yr old with a 4 1/2 yr old. I am a work at home Glass Artist. My 3 yr old neice comes to me most of the week for her daycare, so I am a Stay at home Auntie as well.

Anywho, Good Morning!!

Anyone have any suggested online reading for one who is new to the Grovesian way things?

Welcome, Melinda. Please feel free to ask anything. You'll notice we talk a lot off topic.

Still just limping along here. I can get internet but only if I plug my laptop directly into the modem. Not real comfortable but at least I'm not hanging in the wind anymore totally. I have phones now, and TV and A/C. Just need to get the wireless network tweaked and hopefully most things will be back to normal.

Welcome Melinda. I guess you have the advantage now of already knowing us if you've been reading the thread. Now we'll try to get to know you too. We love new friends to join us. There is a site full of Barry knowledge. Do a search for him and second opinions and see what comes up. In the meantime, I'll try to find that exact place for you and share it with you.

MK, unplug your stuff!!! I'll be a paranoid mess now every time a cloud comes by, lol.

Newest news.......my garage door keypad is fried too. I got locked out of the house this a.m. My poor DH had to drive 40 minutes just to open the door for me! One more thing to add to the list!! I've now hidden a key!! I thought I already had, but if I did, I sure hid it well. I couldn't find it during that whole time I waited for DH to get here, lol.

LOLO...The tree clean up is happening..I have to put a square of wood over the hole where the tree was in the deck..(Second story deck)..so this noone won't die.. Duh..

Sandy: I have heard that when lightening strikes, it is hard to find all the places it strikes..Have you tried every outlet? I hate lightening and the midwest seems to have the worst storms and noisy lightening..grumble..

Welcome, Arynn!! Are you from the UK? Otherwise Barry's book is available on line..Natural Health and Weight Loss.

Cindy: How is the 1200 calorie plan working out?

Sunny: My soup is super simple..Boil some chicken bones (or leftover roasted chicken)..Add some broth..strain the meat..Then in the broth cut up veggies..
onion, celery, zukes, a can of diced tomatoes. Then I just added some frozen turkey meatballs and let them cook. I did this in the crockpot.
I also put in some frozen spinach..

I was up to 154 this morning..My hands are pretty swollen..too much sodium?? I will drink my iced tea and that should help.

MKay: How is your dd doing in NY?

Yes, DH tried every outlet. The only ones that were bad were all the GFI outlets and they were just tripped. Still struggling with this stupid router/computer problem. I guess I'll just give up and let the experts do it tomorrow. I'd just like to save that money and be able to do it myself. But I'm just not having any luck.
I did buy a new cordless phone today so there was another $50. And I looked at new TVs. Yikes!! I called the repair place and when they heard how old ours was they said they wouldn't even be able to get parts!! So I guess there goes that idea, lol. We have a beautiful oak entertainment center that none of the new shaped TVs will fit in now. We still have the old square type not the new rectangle type. So.....another thing to try to get rid of or set at the curb on trash pickup day. I keep trying very hard to be thankful that our house didn't burn down and we weren't hurt. And I am extremely thankful for that, but I have to be honest and say all this frustration is starting to wear on me a bit. And even saying that I feel guilty. I live in the best country in the world and am showered with so many blessings that I sure hate to complain and get bogged down by this little stuff. I keep talking to myself. And the Man upstairs too. I sure appreciate all my buddies here letting me whine and cry the blues too.

Surprise lunch out with a friend - for 2.5 hours! I guess we needed to catch up!

So only cleaned one bathroom today and did some laundry.
Got DS20 to walk the dog for me.

It's humid after the rain and I really don't want to do anything!

Sandy - vent away! We'll definitely listen! Can you find an older TV somewhere, like a refurbished one at a TV repair store that would fit in your entertainment center?

Carolyn - Thank heavens - I was so worried about Noone!!!!!

DD22 likes school a lot. She's doing well and gets along well with her roomies.
So, I think life is OK!

Gosh, Sandy..I know what you mean about the new shaped tv's..DH says they make everyone look fat. You might be able to find a used one that is a big square, do you think?
I bet you could advertise on Craig's List.. I would be crying the blues, too, Sandy..

Our tree is gone..so I'm a bit sad, too. But, I do think there is enough shade from another tree to help shade the deck and my pool..

Made another blueberry coffee cake with Lauren's recipe. It's for tomorrow's coffee for our Newcomer's at Dianne's house.

Got some new glasses ordered today...My old ones were 4 years old..not good.

MKay: I love lunch with a friend...Glad you had a nice catchup chat..

Just popping by for quick hello, it is 2:36 AM and I can't sleep. DD and DGS got here yesterday about 5:30. One of the side effects I am having with the Byetta is trouble sleeping, I hope that soon passes but it still continues. I go to bed tired and then just lay there hour after hour trying to get to sleep. Will have to talk to the Dr. about this.

Anyway, just had to laugh at Carolyn's comment that Gary says new tv's make everyone look fat, they do if you don't have them in the right format, LOL. When we first got one of the newer ones my DH kept commenting on how the stars had all gotten fatter, I finally got the book out and found out that you could only watch the wide screen if the show was in HD format, if it wasn't, you had to push the format button to make the picture narrower. Does that make sense? Anyway, that is what causes that.

Weight slipping back down.

Welcome Melinda.

Sandy, what a headache, I don't blame you for venting, that is so much trouble and expense.

MK, glad DD is enjoying school.

Cindy, Carolyn is right about your hair, once your body readjusts to having the proper amount of thyroid, it should get better but it takes time.

Not sure how much I will be around the next few days while company is here.

Buffy, enjoy the time with your family. And try to get some rest. Thanks for the tip on the widescreen TVs. That will probably come in very handy. I've never liked the pic on them either but that's probably why.

I don't know if I'm making progress or not. I can now get internet on the desktop but NOT the laptop, lol. That poor tech will have his work cut out for him today for sure. Mainly b/c by now I'm so confused I'm not sure what I've even done!

I don't know how often I'll be able to check in today so you all have a wonderful day.

BTW, my eating is NOT good this week. I think I've gained 4 pounds!! Hummm, I wonder how I react to stress in my life???

Morning!

Sandy - you didn't gain 4 pounds, you just look fat because you're not HD!

Oh come on - it was a little bit funny!

I've played on FB, walked and eaten breakfast . . . . now I have a bathroom to clean.

Carolyn, the 1200 calories actually is about 1300 but it is still a bummer. However, the Metformin makes it more tolerable. I am less hungry on Met.

Sandy, I'm with you on the 4 pound weight gain. I'm bouncing between 126 an 128, up from 123 so I'm not happy, hence cutting calories until my body catches up with the thyroid. THANK GOD FOR METFORMIN!!

That blueberry thingy looks good Carolyn but I'm not doing any baking until I get a handle on this weight gain. I do like cooking for others though. I am on a homemade ice cream kick right now. I have a frozen bowl attachment for my Kitchen Aid. if you have to make home made ice cream, here is the recipe you MUST try:

Cake Mix Ice Cream
1 cup milk
2 cups whipping cream
1/2 cup sugar
1T vanilla
1 cup dry cake mix of your choice (I have made Funfetti and Caramel)
Wisk all of the above until sugar and cake mix are dissolved. Pour into ice cream freezer and freeze as usual. Put in freezer about 4 hours.
I did taste each. The caramel is insane!! I added 1/4 t English Toffee extract and it was the best i have ever tasted. I think I ate about 3T but, now don't laugh, spit it out after tasting it. I wanted to make sure it was good but didn't want the calories. I used the remaining cake mix to make a smaller matching cake for the ice cream. Company loved it! I think strawberry would be good and one could do this LC and lower calorie. Some used FF 1/2 and 1/2 and you could do SF cake mix. This is great for kids and company!!
