How much protein should I be eating?? Don't get it
I'm 5'-6", 175lbs, goal weight 165, I do stockroom work (like UPS) all day, female and 31 years old. The calculator dohicky says I need 91 grams of protein a day...soooo, that's only 3.2 ounces of protein a day??? WTH? Is that right? jeez, it will feel like I'm eating nothing all day except sticks of butter.
I mean, I'll try it, but I've already eaten 3 eggs w/peppers & onions for brekkie! I will have to chug some olive oil later...![]() ![]() Dani |

Dani: You are truly active in your work, so you can probably take in 100 grams of protein..
Divide 7 into 100 and it will show you how much protein in ounces you can eat..14-15 ounces..Divide it by 3 and it's about 5 ounces (cooked) a meal. Does this sound better to you? |

LOLOL..
..Just see how the 5 ounces per meal works out for you. Then if you need to spread it out more, then do it. |

I still don't get it. Where do your respective numbers of 91 and 100 come from???
I am low-carbing to keep my insulin resistance in check. I am not technically overweight so I shouldn't attempt to lose weight (Groves' words, not mine). To maintain my weight, I need roughly 2000 cal a day. 20 to 25 percent of a 2000 cal diet represents 100 to 125g protein. Most protein calculators give me a number around 70g. Which would be 14% of a 2000 calories diet, not 20 to 25%, so the numbers don't compute... Which number should I go by? 70g or 100 to 125g??? Last edited by Ghoul; 10-06-2009 at 11:22 PM.. |
