Cindy: I went to the dessert menu, too..Gosh...those things are worth cheating for..
Sandy: I don't blame you..but maybe another time.. I've never eaten there cuz I don't want my gfriends to spend that much money..However, dh and I could go sometime.

Beth and her dh joined the Food Coop at the Hen House..They get lots of organic stuff for like $25. Have you heard of it???

Morning everyone.
The markets sound like fun and I know I would havea hard time staying away from yummy baked goods! Yikes!
Office work to be done today and I have some things that need to be returned to stores, must round those up with the receipts and try to get that done in the next few days. And not, during the weekend. So, either returns tomorrow or Monday.

Sandy and Carolyn, I just heard of the co-op at Hen House about a week ago. You can go on-line and look at whats available for that week and pick and choose what you want. I need to look into that. I wonder if it is summer only, like a lot are. I will check on-line.

How fun..the movies..

I'm wondering if Year One will be really stupid..or not..Hmmm..

I'm doing laundry, MK..is that good? LOL

Got a pedicure..This gal takes an hour and does a great one. Her life is "normal" so if we chat it's normal chat. I don't care for the peeps with lots of problems to do my
toes..Not so stressful..

Hopping in the pool..I did my Curves this morning..Had a Braum's burger on a Braum's salad for lunch..Very good. Is Braum's in Kansas City or Texas???

Braum's isn't in KC but we always go there when we go to Broken Arrow to visit my sister. Yum, yum!!

I just got done frying bacon for a whole hour!! I bought a bunch on sale and decided to just fry it all up. I had a bacon and tomato sammy on a 5 grain flax flat bread. It was yummy.

I went to the chiro this a.m. and told him about my intervals and how I couldn't believe my knee was letting me do them. He said intervals are the best type of exercise to do if you have aches and pains b/c of the way the nerves react to highs and lows of the exercise, so that made me feel good about it even more. His grandmother is 97 years old and the only medication she's ever been on is Synthroid!! And is still going strong. I think her mind is starting to slip a little but not that much. Isn't that amazing? I wonder if I can make it to 97, lol.

I just noticed Gasper Farms has pastured butter. I'm going to try some. It is dark yellow and no coloring added. It is, however, $6.50 for 1/2 pound. I checked on-line about Hen House. It is $25 a week and starts April 22 thru September, I believe. I think you pay weekly, when you pick up your sack so I'm thinking you can just jump in any time. I'm going to go up and check it out.

Bought something at Netrition a while ago and never used it, then wondered HOW to use it as I forgot the original purpose. It is called "Oat Fiber 500". It is 100% fiber, no calories and 1 cup has 35 grams carbs and 35 grams fiber. It is the consistency of flour. I put 2T in my LC waffle mix this morning and it was good . I'm going to play with it. Someone said you can put it in hamburger as a binder or make SF baking more fluffy.

Hi gang..

Thanks for the bacon reminder..Sometimes I do mine in the oven..It is fast and easy. I line a baking pan (with sides) with foil for easy clean up..Gosh, I love bacon..

I always wanted to try the Oat Fiber, Cindy..

97 years old?? That is amazing, isn't it? That is interesting about the intervals. Not too long on one exercise, is that it? Or running/walking/running/walking?

I think we are having turnips for dinner..I'll have to be inventive I think..Maybe make a cheesey turnip casserole so dh doesn't taste them.

Yes, my intervals are walking/running and there are usually 8 separate intervals per workout. And a workout is about 30-32 minutes long, give or take.

I like turnips boiled and then drained, add cream, butter and a bit of sweetener. At this point you can even mash them. Yum!!

Cindy, I'm anxious to see what you find out from Hen House. If you can jump in anytime I think I'll start it too. I didn't see where you could pick the stuff you wanted for that week. That's a good thing.

I went to my grandson's pool today. Finally!! I stayed about 2 hours. I floated around holding my mp3 player and listened to my book. He came home from work and couldn't believe it. I got really sleepy floating around with the sun shining on me but I have to keep my eyes open so the wasps don't get me again this year, lol.

I tried the scalloped turnips with carmelized onions on the recipe bulletin board. I think it will be fine.

LOLO..Grandson finds grandma floating in his pool..You should have invited all your gf's over for a "float"..He would have really been surprised. I take paperbacks in the pool with me..I'm afraid I would get my MP3 wet and never be able to fix it..

I know it was a big risk but I was careful and I didn't drop it into the pool. Now if a wasp started to get me I'd probably be in trouble.

DGS loves all my GFs so that wouldn't have been a problem with him. He prolly would've offered us wine or margs, lol.

My DD told me a friend of hers cooks her bacon on the grill. Right on the racks!!! I can't even imagine that but I did find it online so I guess it can be done. Talk about messy lava rocks!!

Bacon on the grill All I can imagine is the huge grease fire from bacon fat dripping down!

Had a scary moment with DC15 today. She was on the back deck in the shade for a couple of hours today so I went to bring her in as I make her come in a few times during the day to eat and drink. Well, I tossed her over my shoulder and carried her in when she started crying. I went to put her down and she fell over, arched her back and had a small seizure. My BF was home so i yelled for him but I knew what it was. She had gotten too warm, her blood pressure dropped and she had a little hypotensive seizure. She was fine in about 5 minutes. From now on, she only can go out for 2 hours in the early morning when it is hot like this. Kids!! They'll give you gray hair!!

How scary Cindy! I'm glad she's ok now. My dog doesn't handle heat well either and the vet can't find a reason, just that she can't. So I have to be careful with her in this heat too. But try telling her that when I leave the house in my tennis shoes and in my workout clothes! She wants to go!!!

Poor DC..good thing she has a nurse and doctor on staff. It was really hot here, too..Alex likes to go in the garage, but I guess I had better watch him getting overheated. He has some padding..

Bacon on the grill????????? I did mine in a pan..Gary loved the Scalloped Turnips with Carmelized Onions..Honestly, it was delicious..I made it with mozzarella cheese.

Carolyn, that sounds so good! I made salmon for dinner with summer squash (farmers market),mashed red potatoes with caramelized onion (farmers market, BF got this item!) and fresh asparagus (farmers market). I LOVE fried onions! The onions i used were like giant green onions from a farmers patch. I cut up the white and green and fried it. I'll adit I had a tiny taste, just to make sure it was OK, mind you! Boy, those caramelized onions fried in the butter blend I use that is 50% mac nut oil, which is toasty anyway! Is that recipe on Linda Sue's site? I could eat that while the BF had the tators.

Yes, I have to keep a closer eye on DC. I know she's old but I forget she's old.

I slept in this a.m. and then a friend called and we talked for almost an hour!! So I'm starting off behind already, lol.

I was at 145 this a.m. but we all know what today starts.......the dreaded WEEKEND!!!
And the kids have their BBQ contest this weekend so we'll be going to that feast tonight. I'll try to stick with just meat.

Hi gals and Gord,

Talking is good.. It's therapeutic for women..So many words, so little time..

Brett's 22nd birthday today..We will go up to see him tomorrow..He called talking about his diet and exercise plan last night. Seems as though the exercise isn't taking the 10 pounds off..He was eating 2 cups of Cheerios/milk for breakie. I told him to do the egg/cheese thing and watch the carbs. I will go shopping with him at Dillons and buy him some LC bread and LC tortillas for his sandwiches. I think any carbs that you can cut out are good, don't you?

Honestly, those scalloped turnips were very nommie..I will bump the recipe on the Bulletin Board so you can find it. It's kinda long to post here.

I was 154 this morning..So, I need to be very good this weekend.. very good.

Happy Anniversary, Sandy...you can make it through the weekend safely...I know it.

I had an egg and some bacon for breakie.. I love bacon, too, MK

Hi...

I've decided that I am going to try an experiment on myself..Sort of an Alternate Day Plan like Dr. Johnson writes about. Have an UP day, then a DOWN day..Today will be my DOWN day. I am going to try to keep calories lower than normal and tomorrow will be my up day, when I will eat normally..Of course, this will all be LC and Barry friendly. I've already had 322 calories, so I will have a protein shake for lunch, a small snack, and a light dinner..Then tomorrow I will eat normally. I hate, hate, hate to be hungry, so I am definitely going to avoid that..We'll see...how it goes..BUDDD..I will call it my BUD diet...LOLOLO..

Good luck Carolyn. Thanks for the anniv. wishes. I think we're going to try a new restaurant in the Briarcliff area. Trezo Mare. Sounds yummy.

It's sure getting cloudy here. I hope it doesn't storm on the BBQ team.

Have fun with Brett. I know you'll get him straightened out on his diet plan. I'm impressed that he's keeping with this at his age. Good for him!!

That's great! I think I would overeat on the up days. Have any of you been over to Cleo's The Lighter Side of LC site? The recipes are gone and there is an explanation that they are on the Examiner's site but when you go there, nothing.

I do too. I found it distressing to not find one recipe on her site. Not one. I'm kinda thinking she doesn't work for the Examiner anymore and they felt her recipes were their property. Very stressful. the only ones I have committed to memory were Oopsies and cauliflower crust.
