Happy Mom's Day!!
lygia, one of our low carb friends has a recipe site and has absolutely amazing sweet treats. she uses mostly erythritol/stevia blend for sweetening (i think). i'll look it up...i think it's somewhere in my favs. so the sad news is that coconut is on the high arginine (sp) list. so CO is out. i have many jars but i use it on my skin, so no prob. i usually don't jump on every band wagon that passes this board but CO just sounded so good. interesting thing is that some lower fat items are higher in lysine; white meat of chicken and turkey are just two. i need to figure out why. and which fats are higher in A/L. the great part is that high lysine=LC! meat/fish, eggs, dairy and vegies (esp cruciferous) and some fruit fit perfectly. also soy, which i usually don't eat but i used to love tofu.. and still eat it the 2 times a year i eat thai food. some beans are okay. all whole grains esp wheat and oats are out as well as nuts. i have searched so many sites, wow!! so have a great day. i am going to trim my windows since the weather is outstanding. |

Jem, Truvia is an erythritol/stevia blend that is good. Stevia is too hard for me to spoon out lightly and I make it bitter but Truvia is very good. I haven't cooked with it but I like it in my tea. My 2 sweeteners are Truvia and liqid Splenda. I use Fiberfit and Sweetz Free, both liquid Splenda.
Yes, Mary Kay, DC15 is my 15 year old cat! They run to the deck now because the tiny lizards have been out in force this spring. So far, so good at work. I am cheif CRNA and I like to take Sunday's to get all the administrative stuff done. We are here 24 hours but Sundays are often quite. Brought a buffalo burger on an Oopsie for lunch. I do like buffalo. |

Happy Mother's Day...We can't say that enough to all the Mothers out there..
Gary took me to B'ville and we had a lovely brunch..I was pretty good, but not perfect. The kids called..Beth got me a $25 Amazon gift card.. Sounds like everyone is busy..Gosh, it is dark and dreary here today. We looked for a new grill..but not a huge one. Gosh...many of the grills are so huge. There is a nice Weber at Lowe's..not too huge..So, I guess that means another trip in the pickup.. |

I had a lovely day too. I got roses and breakfast from DH, a hand painted wine glass from DD and a pedi GC from DS. Plus he fixed the meat for dinner. My older grandchildren made pasta salad, pea salad and a strawberry shortcake cake. My DH brought store bought potato salad and the younger grandchildren made brownies. Of course, lots of food and nothing good for you except the meat! But that's just our family. We always celebrate around food. It's the American way, isn't it? Lol.
But, now I feel bloated and have a tummy ache. Paying the piper once again. I should be an expert at it by now, lol.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one that went completely off plan today! It was a nice treat, and I"m back in the saddle again tomorrow although I"m afraid I'll be dealing with carb cravings again
and either tomorrow or day after was going to be my next weigh in-I'll forever be skewed at this rate but at least my body won't be aclimated to burning 1500 or less and there is supposed to be something to carb cycling, right?? (note: trying to make self feel better LOL) We slept in, I had coconut flour pancakes, we mowed the lawn and then went to the thai restaurant where I had Tom Kha (a hot and sour coconut milk soup) to the tune of 800 calories  and around 35-40 net carbs *sigh* but it was tasty! Came home, glass of pinot grigio (it's been months), cheese and my favorite mary's gone crackers sticks and twigs, and then chocolate almond truffles. I guess 130 net carbs isn't actually that bad for a splurge day-could have been much worse! My goal is to be completely clean until vacation at end of July, at which point I might cut loose again for a day or two. By that time I might be the same weight I was last summer, I've been feeling the difference the last few days! Tomorrow is run day-and calories won't go over 1500, although I might get called in from 2300 to 0700, we'll see. Becky |

Just a quick question do you subtract the fibre from foods to get the 'net carbs', and its these I count and not the bog standard carbs, thanks..

LOVE IT!!!
![]() Morning! Good Mother's Day here too! I didn't go too far off plan - and I got in about 5 miles walking the neighborhood. DD22 got me a gift certificate for the theater next season - Urinetown is coming and I can't wait to see it! DS16 & 20 bought me a 10-movie pass to my favorite independent theater (sounds like I'll be sitting a lot next year! ) and DH bought me a blueberry bush - my request - and gift certificates for massages! DD25 is taking me out to lunch later!Besides that, I didn't do anything I didn't want to do yesterday! ![]() My mom was "interesting". She really seems out of sorts when she leaves her 'home'. I'm not sure we'll take her to graduation next weekend. I'd like to enjoy the day and not worry about her!

Sounds like we are back on plan..I was shocked to see 143 on the scale this morning..I'll playing around with my thyroid meds..Taking 1/2 first thing, and the other half later on during the day, so my metabolism will pick up after 5.. MaryKay: Yup on the mom leaving her environment. It's hard when they get older and a bit disoriented... Gotta go exercise..........and try running on the treadmill..Gosh, I am so out of shape that way..I'm kinda strong, but when I run, I get out of the breath a bit..What's with that???????

We recorded The Amazing Race and just watched it. Thank goodness the red-heads didn't win! I thought they were mean and rude.
We also just watched The Alzheimer's Project on HBO. They talked about role of insulin resistance, inflammation, high-sugar diet, obesity and their roles in Alzheimer's. LC seems the way to go for all kinds of reasons! Had a FABULOUS dinner, ala Costco. I picked up beef tenderloins at Costco and used Montreal Steak seasoning on them. I did them a way that they do on the Food Channel but I have never tried. When you have a thick steak, get a nice sear on it on the grill till it looks nice, then finish it in a 400 degree oven till they are done the way you like them. I always over cooked them or burned them on the grill. I like mine medium and my BF likes his med-well. By finishing them in the oven, they aren't overcooked on the outside and raw on the inside. Only took about an additional 7 minutes in the oven to perfection! I topped them with sauteed fresh mushrooms and a side of steamed fresh baby spinich. My BF also had a baked potato and sour cream. Those steaks were SO tender and juicy! Very proud as the grill is not my thing. Rode my horse with a friend at the barn today. We were down in the creek, splashing around. My horse is like a puppy in water. Good exercise as he is a handful to ride. This weather is insane! It was a lovely 68 degrees today but going to be 80 on Wednesday. Hope everyone is having a great evening. |

Hi..
Cindy: I wanted to watch that, but we don't get HBO. My mom had AD and she was a big bread lover, even though she wasn't fat at all..You just never know, but keeping sugars in control is the way to go..Your horse sounds like fun..And that is interesting about the steak..I love steak and will have to look at that recipe on how long to cook it at 400. We are having a going away luncheon for June tomorrow..Our Curves group is having it.. I'm making a fruit salad. I put the canteloupe in a brown bag in the hopes that it would ripen a bit..I hope it's not crunchy. |

Carolyn I would like to thank you for the chocolate chip cookie recipe you posted this is my saviour. When I get a nibbly moment in the late afternoon instead of turning to naughty things I can now sate my cravings with one of these delish biccies, they've also gone down a storm with the O/H and I've had to limit him to 3 a day. When I made the first batch on sunday he moved them carefully around the cooling tray so I wouldn't notice that some were missing, all I had to do was follow the trail of crumbs.. thanks again

Morning friends!
Heading home today, have time to hit the pool one more time, then will be picked up around noon to go to airport and supposed to get home at 10:15 tonight. Last night I had the triplets (3) and the baby 11 months in my room for the night so the parents could go out. Went well but at 6:30 all 4 were up and raring to go, LOL. Eating off plan by now, and feeling it. Ready to get back to normal routine and diet. Wow Carolyn, I thought your thyroid meds were really working great for a moment there! BBL

Carolyn, your favorite team won, the Asian lawyers. They were nice. You should only be allowed to win if you are nice! My BF's mother has AD. HBO is doing a 5 part series called The Alzheimers Project. I DVR'd the whole series that was airing today as BF wanted to see it. They said simple anti inflammatories (they didn't specify) helps in slowing progression. This is why a LC, low sugar diet is helpful as it decreases inflammation. I take a baby aspirin a day, mainly for anti inflammatory reasons.
I'm sore! Riding Saturday and yesterday is a lot of work! Cats are out on the deck on lizard patrol. A nice morning. Hope all is well. Be glad to have you home, Buffy. Fly safe. |

Mary Kay, I have a 27 year old mare and I ride her 9 year old son. I have had her about 14 years. She is an ex race horse and is heck on wheels! Her son is high strung also but not as bad as he has never raced. Oh, I remember when he was a new born. Little fuzzy stand up mane a curley tail. He is 1300 pounds now!

Buffy: Glad everything is fine..A pool sounds nice right now........... Cindy: Yup, I love those Asian lawyers..That is interesting on the anti-inflammatories..and AD. I also think that drinking water helps alot.. We need pictures of your horses..My Alex caught a lizard once..it was the highlight of his life. Of course, he is an indoor cat, so they have to come into the garage. The Biggest Loser finale tonight..and American Idol..That's when our remote controls come in handy. Now, need to get back to normal diet. I am a little scared of horses I admit but think they are beautiful animals. Will take ma a day or more to get back into the swing of things. |

Hi all, I'm still here
I mowed with the push mower today for 2.5 hours-blech (we have 5 acres, very hilly so we do a couple acres with the riding, I usually do what the riding can't reach, and we don't do the back stuff) we're playing with getting a goat next year to "help" with the push mower parts-must get fence up this summer though. We'll see. I'm currently frustrated, not seeing much difference so far in fit of clothes. I'll weigh myself tonight at work, haven't weighed for a bit over a week so we'll see what it says. Anything under 150 and I will be ok with it, although I started this WOE at 147 (gained 3 lbs at last weigh in) I'm going from night shift to day shift at the end of this month and I'm hoping that regulating my sleep cycle and getting all those hormones back into balance will stimulate my metabolism. It's been 6 years on nights now so it'll be quite a shift for my body, maybe just what I need. hitting 30 seemed to do something magical and not good to the old metabolism Becky Buffy-you won money, wow! I"m not brave enough to gamble glad you had a good time!Cindy-your horse sounds fun-bet he was a cute little tyke back in the day! Carolyn-I sympathize! Those summer clothes from last summer at 136 still aren't coming close to fitting-10 pounds needs to come off for me too. We were in Hawaii last may and I had bought all these cute clothes because it was the first time I had ever been in the 130's in my life! (was heavier in high school, down to 160 in college, was married at 210, hit 160 couple years later, got pregnant hit 240 after having my son down to 180 then pregnant with daughter hit 220 then finally lost to 136 last summer with P90X) that's where I want to be again, and where I would like to stay. I was very happy at 136. Seemed much more attainable at 29 than it does now at 30 *sigh* oh well |

Hi all,
I'm getting my new countertops today! Woohoo!! They're almost done and then the plumber has to come tomorrow afternoon to hook up the faucet and sink. I have a funeral to attend in the a.m. I'm really struggling too. I signed up with No Excuses Work Out online and have good intentions to keep up my workouts and add to them with this. But I'm stuck waffling between 147-150. My waffle is waffling it's way up lately. I prefer my waffle between 143-147. And with SF syrup if you please, lol. |
