Becky: Great idea...60 total carbs probably is too much for you. Most of us eat around 30 or so. Barry talked about eating 50-60 because he was a guy who had alot of muscle and he had an active lifestyle..(walking, arching, gardening)..and lived in the UK where they walk more than we do..

Becky, I gotta go check out those sausages. I have always passed them up because I thought they would have too many carbs. The grill is locked and loaded and the weather is finally clearing up so it's time to get grilling! And Carolyn is right. Most of us are eating <30 net carbs a day. I get too many cravings on more.
Up way too early this morning but I was awake. Weeded the flower beds yesterday and sprayed my hosta's with a deer/rabbit repellent. I hope it works. I have a lot of huge, big hosta's that deer LOVE but they haven't touched yet so this is hopefully preventative. Found a local farmer that does grass fed beef, lamb, CHICKEN (Yes, free range, bug eating chicken's) and free range eggs so I'm going to purchase a selection of things and see how I like it. They also do pork but we just don't eat that much pork. |

Hey Cindy, is that farmer in Olathe or close? I might be interested in his products too and my DD has been wanting to find some fresh farm eggs so badly.
I'm off to the gym this a.m. before the washer repairman comes. Then I'm starting in on my kitchen this week to deep clean. I'm sure loving Flylady. Thank you MK!! I'm still up from my weekend bash but I'm "in tune" totally today. I ate well yesterday too but had too much processed type lunch meats; salami and sliced ham. I was hungry all evening. I'm sure it was the Sat. carb overload biting me in the butt!

Morning!
Tried to start this with cat on lap, too difficult. Just removed cat, now cat says, ummppphh and is pissed off. Ok, wow, some good losing Lise, you are doing awesome. I lost fast and easily on ZC too but couldn't stick too it, I got too tired and sick of meat alone. But, for those who can do it, you are right, it brings the blood sugar down and keeps it there. KUTGW. Sandy, sounds like Flylady is working out good for you, isn't it a great way to get motivated and organized!!! Cindy, let us know how that Russian dressing turns out, it sounds good. Have to pack some AS's to take with me, DD who is already at the resort says that they don't have any of that, the only thing diet she has seen is diet pepsi. Hi Carolyn, MK, Sandy, Gord, everyone! BTW Gord, check in and let us know how the ZC is going for you, we would love to hear how you are doing and cheer you on. We are off the hormone talk, at least right now, so it is safe to come in ![]()

my carbs for yesterday were 60 something but the fiber was only maybe 8....but some of those carbs came from the 12 g count for yogurt/buttermilk. so really, if i count it as 4/cup that would reduce it by another 24.
i don't eat very carby stuff so know that this food does not make me gain. my carbs for yesterday were from; 1/4 c pumpkin, 2 ry crisp, 3 small tomatoes (campari). i cannot make myself crazy w counting carbs that are benign....all carbs are not created equally. |

Hi..
Just got "chiropracted" and feel better..June and I will go to the gym this afternoon. I was down to 153..I don't know why, but I'll take it. I keep waiting for my thyroid meds to kick in..Grumble...I am on 2 grains of Westhroid and feel I probably need more..Dr.'s appointment is next week. Hey..31st anniversary is Wed..so "restaurant of my choice"..I'm looking at a Tulsa restaurant which is 90 minutes away, so dh will have to get home earlyish..(but I'm worth it).. The sun is out in Kansas ...yippee..Peeps can actually start mowing their lawns. I have our Newcomer's salad dinner tonight. I will make the standard broccoli, red onion, bacon, sunflower seeds, raisin salad..I'm sure you all make this and it is very LC when you make the dressing with Splenda.. Can't wait to cook the bacon..I think I will bake a whole bunch for eating later on.. Brett is going to summer school at KState this summer..Communications for Engineers is the class..then he is doing some research for a professor there. No money, but he will get credit (which we will pay for???)..LOL..He has the apartment up there, so he might as well stay there. A couple of the roomies are staying, too..He will come home for a week in the beginning..so we will see him some of the time. Hugs all around..........Hope the washerman fixes the washer properly..Buffy: Aren't you excited about your trip???????

oh, and the reason i don't eat aidell's is because of the sodium nitrite. it just adds another sodium that my body and taste buds don't like. costco usually has other brands that don't have it.
i've gotten some awesome no nitrite sausages from the grocery outlet. when i see them, i stock up and fill my freezer. last time i got neiman ranch andouille and chorizo. then i got a dozen packs of johnsonville no nitrite for .99 each. what a deal!! my fav was nieman ranch chipotle cheese sausages. i bought so many packs that it took almost a year to use them all. i've been whining ever since. |

Jem..What a bargain for .99 cents. I bought some nitrate free hotdogs once and they were around $7 or 8 a package..but very good..(they should taste like steak for that price)..

Sandy, Check out their website, Gasper Family Farm - Local Grassfed Meat and Dairy - Linwood, KS. They are located in Linwood Kansas, about 19 miles west and north of me. If you would like, we can go after meeting Carolyn on the 28th as it is on the way to Lawerance. I haven't been there either. They will also have a pickup site at 80th and Antioch. I don't know how many times a month they deliver to there but if you ask them a question, they e-mail back within a day. I am getting 10 pounds of a mix of ground, roasts and steaks, a couple of free range chickens and some eggs. It will be my first order.
For those of you interested in a farm in your area, there is a website called Eat Wild that will direct you to the closest farms. Last edited by CindyCRNA; 05-04-2009 at 09:41 AM.. Reason: website |

Do they supply any of the Hen House groceries in their "local growers" stuff? The name seems very familiar to me for some reason. And 80th and Antioch is right over by my dad's house! Woohoo. I'll check them out.
I got my workout in and my walk with the pup. Breaking news......I actually jogged 2 blocks!!! Short ones of course, lol. I'll let you know how my knee is later. It might not be up to it at all. I'm waiting on the washer guy before I dig into too much dirt around here, lol. And the stove and fridge guy comes tomorrow. Maintenance for the fridge and oven adjustment on the stove since I have policies on both of them. Then Wed. I get my countertops measured by the pros instead of just the salesperson. Then next Wed. is "the day" for the new ones!!! Buffy, I found that in MX they don't usually have real cream either. So we used to take Coffeemate packets for our coffee. Since we've been staying in condos and going to the grocery store I have been able to find 1/2 & 1/2. So if you're a cream person you might pack that too. |

The aidells that costco carries don't have sodium nitrite in them-at least the ones at my costco don't (the smaller ones carried in the store do, but not the organic aidells which I buy if I"m buying smaller packages in the store)
at 60gms I was netting 40 or so, but it was still too high. Do a lot of you live close to eachother? The broccoli salad sounds very good ![]() Well, I"m off to bed to sleep the day away, one more night of work to go..... |

I don't use creamer anymore so that is easier. I will try to ck in with you guys when there. |

Becky, Sandy and I live in the same town but I think that's it.
Just got done riding my horse with a friend for 3 hours. Wore my butt slick! That man is a handful, especially in the spring so no need for gym today! The weather is perfect. 70, cloudy, no wind. Feels great. |

For those of you interested, the Russian dressing is fabulous!! I increased the ketchup to 1 cup because that emptied the bottle, used apple cider vinegar, increased the celery seed to 2 teaspoons because I like celery seed and cannola oil. Next time I will try a light olive oil. I had Davinci's sweetener that I had never used so now it will be. It is very sweet but I like a sweet Russian and you can't beat it with a stick for 38 calories and 0.5 carbs per tablespoon. Makes a lot so you may want to half the recipe.

HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO ALL!! I may have spelled that wrong but you get the idea!! Going out for Mexican food tonight as my best friends DD19 is today also.
Don't laugh but I have a huge blister on my tailbone from my horse yesterday. I'm sitting funny as we speak!! And I'm supposed to ride this Saturday so I'd better get some moleskin! There's a visual! Becky, your funny! I have a hard time keeping my protein down and you have a hard time keeping yours up. We should exchange recipes!! LOL Sandy, to my knowledge, Gasper's doesn't supply local stores. I didn't see it on their website. Buffy, when are you leaving? You are going to have a blast! I miss Zilla and the grand ducks! I know she was busy. I bet the 2 babies left are huge. |

Wow Cindy, that sounds painful! And yes that's quite a visual, lol.
My stupid weekend weight is really sticking this week. I'm thinking part of it is I'm so sore after my hard workout yesterday. Plus I've been doing a lot of heavy cleaning here at home. Last night I was so sore I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to sleep, but I did. Still going to keep eating right though, I know it works. And I have another BBQ this weekend. My son is having one for Mother's Day but I'll try to do better this week. |

so, i was wrong; writing out the address of another forum will not do. got my hand slapped again so just ignore me. i guess a pm is the only way. that's okay....lesson learned.
i had stewed chicken (again) last evening and was disappointed to see a 137 BG at the post prandial reading. it was 100 this morning. i did not eat any carb, just chicken. what works one day does not work the next. i understand that it can take a while for BG to settle so i'll just keep on keepin' on. my garden in in. i need to add a strawberry bed since mine are overflowing the pot. i really just have nightshades; tomatoes, eggplant, peppers...oh, i forgot, there're 2 zucchs. the eggplants were just because they looked so healthy that i just couldn't stop myself from buying them. i have a permanent herb garden but really don't use much anymore. they smell good though. have a nice day, all. |

I was so sore last night I don't know if I'm going to make running a reg. part of my life. I'll have to play it by ear for now.I had 2 eggs for breakie fried in bacon fat. I gave most the whites to my pup. I also had my coffee w/cream. For lunch I had 2 blue cheese burgers with a tiny bit of chopped onion. I was disappointed in them but that's what I get for buying hamb. some place besides Hen House. For supper we're having roast pork leftovers and ??? I ran errands earlier. I went into Home Depot 3 times!! Then Lowe's, Walmart and Sherwin Williams. I'm changing out my outlets and switches where the black granite will be and I got all confused about what I needed and what I had. ![]() I'm going to paint my master bath vanity, hopefully sometime this week. I might get new pulls for it too. Spring fever must've hit me for sure. ![]() |

I did well today, I'm sitting at 1300 calories for the day
Calories 1,287 Fat 91.9 817 64 % Saturated 31.1 277 22 % Polyunsaturated 10.7 94 7 % Monounsaturated 15.4 135 11 % Carbohydrate 41.0 163 13 % Dietary Fiber 9.6 Protein 75.1 303 24 % Alcohol 0.0 0 0 % I"m unleashing my inner carnivore this week I fried my shrimp today in butter, added a teaspoon or two of mild curry powder and then splashed in some HWC at the end, it was really good! It would be REALLY good with scallops, and even good with chicken, yum! Tomorrow I'm going to make burgers with whole milk mozzarella in the middle of them ( saw a recipe-was for lamb burgers but I have some local grass fed beef so the fat should be just as low and will work I think) and serve it with salad or steamed broccoli tossed in toasted sesame oil and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Good morrow everyone from a somewhat overcast UK! Where's the sun gone it was so nice over the past weekend as well, anyway good news on my front I lost 1lb of the 4lb I gained last week, not sure as to where it went but it has. Probably down to a hectic work schedule yesterday.
I re-activated my Fitday this morning ( I'm still getting to grips with this so bear with me).. my stats for yesterday were. Cals: 1660 Fat: 60% Carbs: 19% Pro:21% I need to work on carb intake, normally for breakfast I have a protein shake but after reading an article from Barry's website about soya I've decided to ditch it this week as it may be that this is what's stalling my weight. On the otherhand since i've incorporated soya into my diet I've noticed my hot flashes etc are quite negliable, I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't! ![]() Blimey is that the time, well got to run. Regards to everyone.. ttfn |

Good Morning All!!
Ms Festive, I love Fitday. I really does help with this woe since this is so based on percentages. Your numbers look pretty good. Becky, i saw a restaurant that was making Blue Cheese bugers where you seal up a chunk of Blue Cheese in the middle and grill. I like lean hamburger as that allows for some great toppings like cheese and mayo. Off to work today. I hope the baby boom is slowing!! |
