Cindy - sorry - no clue about the mac oil!

Buffy - LOVE the kitties new names!! So appropriate!
I hope you feel peppy soon!

Carolyn - I bet you can't wait to see Gary! And I don't know about the testosterone - everyone around my house that has it is pretty lazy . . . .
Congrats on the loss!

I can't wait to see a pic of all of you!

Carolyn, I'm doing the No Excuses Work Out by Jonathan Roche. I think he has some free ones on his site. I heard of him thru FlyLady. I still do my weights at the gym but on my off days I'm doing the Intervals which is walking at different speeds, fast and slow, off and on, for about 30 minutes. He says it raises your metabolism and helps you lose weight quicker. We'll see I guess. I'm still barely running. By that I mean, I might run 1 or 2 minutes out of the 30, lol. So no, I don't think it's the running, lol. I'd like to run more, but I'm afraid I'm going to make my feet hurt more. I'll have to ease into it and see how my insoles do first.
And yes, chips are from the devil!!

MK, maybe they all need supplemental testosterone, lol. To give them a boost.

gah! I kind of let everything go the last 3 days or so, so I need to get back on track! (not high carbing, just eating whatever, whenever, however much I want) plus I made almond meal chocolate chip cookies for DS's school thing and ate a few too many  but they were so GOOD! I gotta start mixing my sweeteners, agave straight isn't good for the liver I've read. Anyways, I have decided to stop fitdaying and just do my WW journal, I also need to lessen my fat just a tad and up my carbs just a tad for the whole WW thing so I can get in a decent calorie load every day and not 800. I'm going to stick with mostly veggies, a very few fresh fruits, some nuts/nut butters and maybe some mary's gone crackers for the carbs (mary's gone crackers are soooo good, and they don't tend to create a carb reaction in me-they're brown rice flour base but are loaded with flax and sesame, chia, amaranth, quinoa, and millet and shaped into a pretzel stick shape) oh, and I can't do erythritol/chicory root fiber bars (chocoperfection) causes bad things to happen in my poor tummy! Back to dark chocolate. Just thought I'd let you know I'm still here!

I can barely run for a minute, too..I try to do that on the treadmill. I need to try that, too..My faux Curves has a bowflex machine and Toni will train us..I will do that after June leaves. She was my exercise partner, although I have made friends with the other 8:30 a.m. ladies..It's more fun when you can "talk" and exercise at the same time..LOLOL..

Becky's Mary's Gone Crackers.........where do you get those?? My tummy gets upset with other sweeteners, too..

Brett is doing some cleaning of his room..(Be still my heart)..He has been pretty helpful since the Niagara Falls incident with the shower..LOL

Not me! I don't like to talk when I'm at the gym. Everybody prolly thinks I'm stuck up b/c I always have my ear buds in listening to a book or something. I just want to go and get it done! I do wish I had somebody to talk to when I walk though.

I sent you an email Carolyn.

Good for Brett!!! I'm sure living in an apt. this year has given him a new appreciation for how much you do at home. My DGD is getting an apt. this next year with 2 other girls. I sure hope it works out well.

Hi Becky! Those crackers do sound yummy! Does Whole Foods carry them?

It's interesting when kids have their own apartments and start to cook on their own..I think they begin to appreciate dear old mom..I bought Brett and Fix and Forget It crockpot cookbook with very simple recipes. Hopefully, he will try a few and get hooked on using the crockpot..

I do love my MP3 player when I'm on the treadmill at home..which I need to do in a little while..

Morning everyone!
Yes, I hope my visit to the end helps as well, LOL.

Yesterday was better, having DGS here Friday night helped, he is so good for me. Yesterday we went to the new Night at the Museum movie, we both really liked it, then I brought him home to his folks and DH and I went to the lodge for the evening. Got home about 9:00 and I made my potato salad for tonight, I like to let them have about 24 hours to sit and soak up the dressing and flavors. I did taste it and got too many onions in it, I had forgotten that from last time, must note that on the recipe, it calls for a whole onion to 5 lbs of potatoes and that is too much. Trying to think of something else I can make to take to DD's house this evening so she doesn't have to do too much. DSIL will do the grilling, he loves to entertain.

Supposed to rain off and on here for the next several days.

Or I listen to a book.

That's a very good cookbook!!! Great recipes!

Becky - try not to over-think it!

I'm back out in the yard today - or maybe the garage.

The wedding is at 5:00 tonight. We have to pick up DD22's BF at 3:00ish and we'll all go up together.
I'm excited - it should be fun!

I wondered about that movie - Good to know you liked it!

DH and I watched Slumdog Millionaire last night after all the grad parties.
It was very interesting!

I don't know who would carry them in other places, here both health food stores carry them-fred meyer carries her line of crackers but they don't have as many grains in them and I don't like them quite as much although they're still good. I hope you can find them, they're really tasty and filling.

We went to see Terminator today. It was ok. I just wished I'd watched the old ones again first to brush up. Plus I was having foot cramps during the whole movie. I've been having those lately! Grrrr.

Dinner was very good last night. I'd recommend that place to anybody. Fogo de Chao on the Country Club Plaza, KC, MO.They have other locations too in other states. Beware of the lime cocktails that are their specialty though. Very good and sneaky, IYKWIM. Oh my!!

I just ordered chia seed meal. Anyone have experience with it? I plan on thickening my shakes with it but some use it to moisten meat loaf.

Morning!

It's raining today (Yay!) and I don't have to work on the garden again! I finished a book before I got out of bed this morning!

The wedding last night was wonderful and we didn't get home until after 11:00.
I'm pooped, but in a good way!

We don't have any plans today, but I need to help DS16 pack. He leaves for Italy and Greece tomorrow!!

Morning peeps!

Italy and Greece, lucky guy! I so want to see more of the world.

Might go do a little shopping today, got a big, big suitcase at TJ's before I went to DR and I need to get the smaller one before it is gone, if it isn't already. Lightweight which is good for me now, I am giving my son my other samsonite set which is really nice but not the light weight style.

And, GDS 9 needs shoes and I do most of his shopping since both he and his mom hate to shop and I love to pick out his things, and, I need to get DGS 1 his birthday present, he will be one on Thurs. and his party is Sat. I am getting him a stuffed puppy to carry around, DGS 9 had one when he was little that he took everywhere he went and it was so cute. So, have to find that perfect one. Gund, or Ty, will have to look. anyway, some fun shopping to do. Asked BFF if she wanted to go so she was going to see if she could go later today.

Nothing else planned, sun is shining now but chance of rain again.

Shopping - Yay!

Whatever puppy you buy him - be sure to get 2!
Then one can be washed or there if (heaven forbid) he loses it!

Hi everyone..

Gosh, I need a break from cleaning and setting up tables for June's party at 5:00.. Gary and Brett are helping out. Brett is removing his "stuff" to his car, which helps alot..He will be leaving tonight or in the a.m...

Italy and Greece.. When do the parents get to go???

A stuffed puppy..how cute. Brett had several that he slept with. He had many and he would sleep with them in "reverse alphabetical order". Why am I not surprised that he is studying to be an engineer?

Made that frozen SF strawberry dessert and SF coleslaw and chicken legs..Brett made dirt pudding and put in some gummy worms (of course).

Cindy: I will post the picture of Sandy and me so you can recognize us..
We are the young, thin ones..

If I knew how to post a picture! I have GOT to get over to my friends house as she is a wiz. I know it's not rocket science but I have just never done it. I have to have the Computer Nerdz (That is the name of the company!) over to the house anyway. We are having so many connection problems. Right now I am picking up my neighbors wireless and it works better!

Thursday will be great! I am looking forward to the LC health food store also. I am 5'7", blond hair and will have a look on my face like I am getting ready to throw my computer out the window!! Bring a camera and we will get a threesome shot to post! We will have LC food in front of us but will have them bring out the pancakes when the picture is done!!

Oopsies in the oven. My first time making them with organic eggs and boy, the whites are about 1/3 more fluffier! They are going to be good to bake with. Along with chia seeds, I did order some coconut flour to make that coconut cake Carolyn posted a while ago. I will use coconut oil as that will make it yummy!

LOLO..How did you know that First Watch makes great pancakes? We will be looking for a cute, tall blonde..

Maybe Sandy can explain the picture posting better than I can...

Well, I have everything done for the party..Gary cranked down the AC to 67, cuz he says peeps heat a place up. We will see..

Hi ladies..

MKay: Beautiful gal and darling bf.. Glad you had a nice time at the wedding..

The party went fine..Used heavy duty paper dishes, worked out great, and very little clean up. Only about 22 peeps came, but this was fine.

I have lots of soda left...some diet, some not. I had better give it away..the "not"..
Brett left to drive back to KState.. He has class tomorrow.

I'm tired..Catch ya in the a.m..

Hi all

I hope you don't mind me joining in your challenge threads, even though it's the end of May! I had a shock this morning, got on the scales and had put on 2lbs over the last week! I've been keeping carbs below 20g a day and have upped fats a lot, though a couple of days protein ended up much higher than I'm aiming for.

I shoot for around 1800 calories a day as my BMR is 1845 - am I going too high with calories?

Newbie too - another from the UK

HI everybody,
Furbat ..I'm from sunny London!

I'm joining late in May having worked out where to come.

I'm currently 168 pounds need to lose 25 pounds to get to 114 pounds a good weight for my height 5 foot 6.5 inches, 48 years. I would settle for 120 pounds that said.

I am finding it a challenge to get the protein proportions right - fat and carbs are generally ok but my protein levels tend to be similar to the carb levels when I run a day's eating through ******.com.
By levels I mean percentage proportions. They always come out close which means the protein is too low. Is this a problem? eg 74% fat 10% protein carbs 13% on May 24.

Do you ladies find that it comes naturally after a while? I don't want to eat with a calculator in one hand etc for the rest of my dieting life.

The plus side is that I feel ok on this diet ..never did on Atkins or South Beach - weedy and dizzy and pale. This is sustainable - aside from all the counting!!

Support, wisdom and help would be greatly valued,

Kapri

Morning!!

Kapri & Fatat!!

Carolyn (and others) are good at the numbers, so I'll just say "hi" and I'm glad you're here.

It does get easier - you learn what to eat and what sends you into a tailspin. So just stick it out and chat - we'd love to get to know you!

DS16 leaves today - so we have the final check list - I always feel like I'm forgetting something.
But he has his passport and some Euros to start out with, so . . . .

Good Morning all and welcome to Fabat40 and Kapri.

Fab, I think if your BMR is 1845, 1800 is fine. Stick it out a couple more weeks. Plug you numbers into ****** to be sure you are staying at 1800. Water fluctuations will mess with the scale but will come off over night also.

Kapri, I struggled the first couple of months with the percentages. It does become second nature. I use ****** every day to watch percentages and calorie intake.

Should get preliminary results on DHOR 27 (My 27 year old horse, for you newbys) today. She is eating her grain but can not eat hay or grass. She is feisty and seems to be hanging in there. Poor thing, I know she is confused as to why her face doesn't work.

Good morning and welcome Fab and Kapri. Yes, at first you will feel like you're running around with a calculator in your hand or always at the computer on ******, but after awhile it gets easier. Your carb % should never be higher than your protein % for sure. Do you guys have any of Barry Groves' books? They explain everything pretty well. There's also a thread here titled EFGT Info that might help too. And of course, all of us are happy to help as well.

Cindy, hoping you get good news on DHOR!

MK, which group is it that DS is going with? He's going to be quite the world traveller by the time he's out of HS isn't he? Good for him!!

I had a pretty disastrous weekend with food. But I'm getting back in the saddle today. And I need to get a workout in too. It's finally raining here after being predicted all weekend. We need it and it's cooled it down a bit so maybe there'll be a break and I can walk later. Or I can always go to the gym and workout. I also have to catch up on my cleaning.

Hey..another UK newbie, Kapri.

What Sandy said on the "numbers". I think getting the right amount of protein is something we all have to learn. Some have to cut down from what they were eating, and a few have to gear up.

Fabat: You know..everyone has to find their own calorie allotment that works for them.
So, if you are losing on XXX amount of calories, keep it up. If not, then, cut back.
Activity levels, etc..age, hormones, are so different for everyone.

Cindy: Gosh..hopefully, there will be good news for your DHOR27..Hugs and prayers to her..

MKay: Are you taking your ds to the airport or is he going with a group? I'm sure he will have lots of fun..
