I just walk at different speeds and keep my heart rate at certain levels for a set amount of time. I got it off the No Excuses Work Out site that I found at FlyLady. I really like it so far, except for the foot problems. Ouch!! I'm going to look for something today to help me after I talk to the chiro. My new shoes are New Balance walking shoes!! You'd think they'd do the trick.

Hi! Just joined LCF but have been "lurking" for a bit. I've been fighting with extra baby weight (ummm...baby is about to turn 3!) and had lost 10 lbs in the fall by adding coconut oil and reducing grains (Eat Fat Lose Fat style rather than Eat Fat Get THin) and then gained it all back after a stressful family situation derailed me.

I know when I eat this way - not only do I lose weight but everything works better - my hair & skin look fantastic, my hormones even out (i.e. no pms) and I have much more energy. So...looking forward to the May thread & new meal ideas & hearing how all of you are doing w/ EFGT!

oh and... I have lost 5 lbs since last week

Welcome Ms Mightymouse! You'll see we chat about everything but please feel free to ask whatever questions you may have. I'm one of the newer people but LOVE all the friendly people we have here. I like CO also but don't use it nearly enough. I have been asking the peeps what kind of liquid oil they use for baking. My knowledge base has skyrocketed the past 5 months. There is a lot of good info here.

Oh, and speaking about this forum being a good resource, I have been helping my friend at work start introducing high fat options to her eplileptic 3 year old son. His meds aren't eliminating his seizures so one of the modalities is a 3:1 ketogenic diet. Talk about tough! I did a 1.5:1 for a few days and couldn't hack it! There were more ideas on this forum than there were on the ketogenic diet for epileptic kids forum!

I'm getting to go out and bathe DHOR27 as she really didn't shed out her winter coat. She doesn't mind a bath as she is pretty use to it. I bathe my cats also and have since they were kittens. The cats get a bath every 2-3 months just to keep the loose hair down.

Have a great day all!

Hi....

This is cleaning day for me..Will start dusting... I'll be the little fly lady..

Sandy: Let me know what you would tweak on the Coney recipe. I think we could leave out the dogs..My friend June had some feet problems and ended up at the podiatrist who put something on the bottoms of her good tennis shoes. She also got a shot, which helped alot.

MKay: DS will be a junior!! Our kids here have their last day today, too. Then the roads and WalMart will be really busy with all the kid activities.

Mighty: Welcome and congratulations on your weight loss!!! Nice to have new peeps..

Cindy: I will be anxious to hear about your friend's results with her son. That 3 to 1 is pretty high..It's not calories, is it? Like 90 calories of fat to 30 calories of protein.

Becky: Elana's pantry is a great site with wonderful recipes..

Hi Grandma Buffy.. How are the little kitties?

Well, the chiro said I need added arch support and of course he has insoles he sells for $50. I went to Wally World and got some Dr. S brand and will try those first. And I'm going to be super diligent about stretching my feet and legs out before and after I walk. Then we'll see how it goes.

On the Coney Pie, I'd just make my own beanless chili which has more spices in it. I'd still use the hot dogs but maybe instead of the topping I'd just add cheese and chopped onion on top of the meat, hot dog mixture. More like an actual chili dog only in a bowl with no bun! I swear I could eat another hot dog today! I don't know what's up with that. I couldn't even eat hot dogs until I was about 40 years old w/o getting sick so I guess I feel the need to make up for lost time now, lol. I used to not be able to eat popcorn either. Now I can, but I haven't for a very long time. At least I've been resisting something, lol.

Welcome Mighty. Jump right in and let us all get to know you. Cindy's right, we talk about everything, and sometimes we even talk about EFGT, lol. And we're always willing to either way.

I usually use butter for baking but like using coconut oil too. I know you said liquid, but butter really is the way to go in my book (even if I am not baking something LC).

Cindy - I couldn't resist!
This is probably what would happen at my house if I tried to bathe them!

Mighty! Congrats on the loss!! And don't fret - my "baby" is 16!

Sandy - good call on the insoles. But you're right - the shoes should have been fine - at least for a while!

Carolyn - I need to dust too . . . . on my list!

I got the flowers planted in the pots in the backyard and weeded and watered around the patio.

Saturday I'll head to the bigger garden. Maybe if I do some each day I can keep it caught up!

I think they need a bigger pool!
Don't you just want to pick them up and see what number is on the bottom to see if you win!

Oh, Carolyn, that was so cute! Thanks for posting. My friends son is going to be on a 3:1 ratio. 3 grams of fat to every 1 gram of protein and net carb COMBINED! Think about it! OMG!! If he has 15 grams of protein and carbs in a meal, he will have to offset it with 45 grams of fat! I have been giving her ideas but it would be extremely difficult for an adult let alone a 3 year old.

Ms Mouse, I'm going to have to try CO and butter as everyone else is having luck with it.

MKay, I LOVED the bathing cat pic! I laughed so hard!! I never bathe my cats heads which helps and they are completely declawed. They usually hold on to my neck and hollar but don't fight too much.

Cindy: You know..that is a huge ratio, I think. I wonder why it has to be that great? Because regular ketogenic diets don't need that big a ratio. I'm just wondering about that because I totally agree how very difficult it would be. Unless he drinks heavy cream all the time with his meals.

Well, Brett took a shower in the new bathtub..Opps...He thought the shower curtain was in, but it was out. So, water was all over the floor and went into the ceiling below it. This is not the first time he has done this....grumble, grumble..He did mop up the floor, but the bath mat was soaking. I think I will ban him from taking a shower in that bathroom.

I haven't done a thing in the bedroom this week. I was going to do it today, but now I have a meeting at 9:00, errands and another meeting at 11:30, DS16 has a doc recheck at 1:15, and I have a doc appt at 2:30.
I'm tired!

Oh yeah - I just got up!

I think DD22 has to work today, but maybe I can get her out for a walk first.

Morning my dear little peeps and welcome to Mighty Mouse!

Took an R&R day yesterday, I did get some travel arrangements made but watched 3 movies yesterday afternoon and evening. A couple of free ones on tv but then paid to watch Doubt, which I liked. I see my endo next Thurs. and I sure hope she can pep me up either on different meds or with a good tongue lashing. Just can't get into it!!!

A friend is going with me to Canada on the 4th, DD#3 who just had the beach wedding, married DSIL who is from Kitchener, Ontario and his family is having a reception for them there on the 6th. So, my friend is going with me and we are going to fly into Buffalo on the 4th, take in Niagara Falls, then drive on over into Canada. Will help with preparations on Fri. and Sat., the event is Sat. night and then home again on Sunday. I couldn't believe how cheap it was to fly from Dallas to Buffalo, $160 RT with all fees, taxes, etc.

Zilla's ducks are so cute, thanks for posting that Carolyn. I hadn't been to her blog recently. ERRRRR, on the son/tub/showercurtain/ceiling thing. Why is it always women who think to check things like that?

I have bathed a cat, not an easy project, but have never bathed a horse.

I am more than ready to put McNaughty and McNice back outside with their mommy, as soon as DGS comes and spends the night tonight and gets to play with them. They are wrecking havoc inside and Tinker does not approve one iota of them being in his domain and getting on his perches, playing with his toys, etc. McNice is really a lovable little kitten and purrs like a little engine as soon as you touch him/her but McNaughty is living up to his name, you can hardly catch him and when you do, he can't wait to squirm out of your arms and run and scratch something.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Hi gals..

I'll admit our Alex is declawed, too. He never goes outside though. And our legs are safe from scratches as is our furniture. He doesn't mind his baths. It takes 2..We fill the bathtub, and pour water over him with a plastic pitcher..Someone soaps him down and then we rinse him off. He doesn't like to be dried with a towel..but his fur is very soft afterwards.

Buffy: I hope you can get pepped up, too. I'm pretty peppy since my thyroid/hormones are balanced.

Yup...still getting ready for June's party on Monday. Brett and I are washing off the lawn chairs/patio, etc..

MKay: I know..where does the day go?

I was 155..this morning...We had Mexican last night..I took home some of my carnitas and had it for breakfast. Meat for breakfast fills you up..

Hugs all around..................

My girls never go out either but now that they are old, they go out on an enclosed back deck and lay in the sun. They can't get off of it and nothing can get in. We watch them out there. They usually just lay in the sun and wait for lizards to happen by.

DHOR27 is hanging in there. She can't eat grass or hay as I suspect her tongue isn't working well enough to move it around in her mouth. She is on a feed that pretty much dissolves in her mouth and appears to be putting on weight but we still don't have a diagnosis.

I work 24 hours tomorrow so wish me luck. I will try to check in.

Oh, Cindy..Poor dhor27..Glad she is putting on weight..

I have no idea how many peeps are coming to June's party. One man is smoking the ribs, and I'm doing the chicken, coleslaw, dirt pudding, and LC strawberry frozen dessert.
I'm sure Alex (dc12) will freak out with all these peeps (little kids) here. So, he and his litterbox might be assigned to a bedroom.

Oh, Carolyn, My DC's would be horrified at a house full of kids! I would have to lock them in a room. The cats....well, maybe the kids!

I know, I'm concerned about DHOR 27. We may be at the end of the road if this gets worse. We'll just have to see. 27 is old. I'm running a pet nursing home. DHOR is 27, DC's are 14 and 15. My only young animal is DHOR 9 which is DHOR 27's son.

Ta Da!! I found it! The almost perfect liquid oil for baking and making mayo....macadamia nut oil. Sat fat-2.2g, PUFA's-0.3g, Mono-11g. Macadamia has the lowest PUFA's. It is Certified Organic, expellar pressed made by Now Foods. $10.63 for 16oz, free shipping over $40 so I bought 4. I'm making mayo first thing! I will still use sat fat as my main fat but there are times you do need a liquid. Ah, I feel better! Night all!

Gosh, Cindy..You are running Assisted Living for Animals.. Poor DHOR27...I can't imagine losing a horse..;( Both our cats when I was at home lived to be 20, so your dc's are still
in middle age. Inside cats live longer than outside ones.

Morning!

I also squeezed in a quick trip to Penney's yesterday- tank tops for $5.99!!
AND DH and I went to see Angels and Demons last night. I was tired!
The doc took me off all cholesterol meds for 1 month. Then wants me to start Crestor again - but only 5mg 2X a week and see if the eye problem comes back.

DS16 had a flat timpanogram so back on meds and nose spray so his ears won't be too painful when he flies to Rome next week.

DD22 went to the Bachelorette Party last night for the wedding Sunday. They're staying there the whole weekend - today they have mani/pedis.

DH and I need to work in the yard this morning and then have 2 graduation parties this afternoon.
And I need to get to the store!

Maybe I could just crawl back in bed with a book . . . .

Well I don't know if it's my new workout routine or what but I'm down again this a.m. to 145! I'm shocked but I'll take it. I even indulged in a few adult beverages last night at dinner and did eat a few bad carbs (breading on oysters) in my meal too. But it didn't show up this morning. Today I have a play with the gal pals and lunch of course. And then tonight we're going to the new Brazilian steakhouse on the Plaza. Fogo de Chao. We have friends coming in from Iowa and they're staying on the Plaza. At least I can eat mostly meat. But I'm sure I'll eat more that my needed amount of protein, lol. I plan on only eating a small salad with some kind of protein in it for lunch. Another hard day for me this weekend will be Monday. It's my baby's birthday!! He'll be 38, lol. And I told him I'd make him Bierrocks. He's been wanting them forever and I hardly ever make them anymore b/c they're so labor intensive. And of course he wants a pineapple upside down cake too. I'm happy to do this for him though as usually he won't even let me have any kind of dinner for him to celebrate. And his DW usually doesn't do too much for his birthdays either. When my kids were growing up and still today even, when it's their birthday they get to pick their dinner and cake. DD always loves it! She takes after her momma I guess, lol. A real food lover.

Carolyn, your party sounds fun. I bet you're sure going to miss June. I hope she comes to visit you often.

Cindy, have a great day at work. And I'm so sorry your horse is ill. It's so hard to see one of our pets struggle isn't it? I've been in your situation with my old faithful Cocker Spaniel a few years ago. It's not a fun time at all.

Hey, has anybody heard from Lise? She hasn't posted in awhile and I was thinking of her last night. She hasn't been on the WW thread either. I might have to go search for her and make sure she's ok.

Buffy, I sure hope you're feeling more chipper. It's a beautiful morning here. I sort of wish I didn't have to go anywhere today. It would be nice to just spend the day with my DH. But I guess we can do that tomorrow. It'll prolly rain! Lol. Pessimist aren't I?

Sandy, my BF's mother used to always make him a chocolate cake with 7 minute frosting. I don't care for 7 minute frosting but thought I would give it a try. I was so pleased when he took a bite and proclaimed it was just like Mom's! He really doesn't have a dinner but that is his BD cake.

Carolyn, good to hear about house cats living till 20. My 2 are sweet. DC14 still chases her tail and is fat and sassy.DC15 is on arthritus medicine and I can feel her spine but she gets around fine. I wish she would eat a bit more but she takes a fvew bites here and there.

Sandy, there is a Brazilian steakhouse at 119th and Metcalf. Or is it Argentinian? I don't know, some South American country!

All right, no one is commenting on my macadamia nut oil! Was it a good choice? I hope so because I bought $40 worth!

Morning peeps. Trying to type with Tinker on my lap, 15 lbs of sass and love. He has started to calm down some with having the 2 kittens in the house, at first he was so hateful that he would hiss even at me, whew, he was a mad kitty!

DGS 9 came yesterday evening to spend the night and visit the kittens. He renamed them Fluffy (McNice) and Lion (McNaughty) :-). They are getting much tamer so he could hold them which he had been looking forward to all week.

Cindy, I have the books but without getting them out, I would think the mac oil would be a great choice since mac nuts are good for us. Does it have a strong taste? That would be my concern in baking. So sorry your horse is suffering. We get so attached to our pets, which is good, we give them good lives.

Sounds like everyone has a busy weekend. We are going to DD#3 for a cookout tomorrow evening, I am afraid it may rain, we have rain in forecast for the next week. I am to make a potato salad so must get to store today to buy potatoes, I never have them on hand anymore. Geez, it has been a long time since I have made it and it will be hard to resist. I will probably have some along with the meat.

I want to get to feeling peppier too, I hate the funk I am in. I really think the visit to the end will help with some answers and changes.

Cindy, that place isn't there anymore, sorry to say. We really liked it too. I hope the one if the Plaza is as good. The one up north is NOT!

Buffy, I sure hope you don't stay long at the end!! Please come back, lol. (I know what you meant, just kidding you a bit.)

Oh and Cindy, I have no idea if the mac oil is good. I really don't do any LC baking. I know I'd eat it all.

Good morning..

I've been drinking all morning..Coffee drinks..

Gary made the plane and will be home around 9:00 tonight..It takes him forever to recover from the 6 hour time zone difference..

Cindy: I have used the mac oil in the past..It was recommended on some diet book I bought..I think it's fine..and has a nice flavor. I'm sure you can bake with it. Looking forward to our meeting this Thursday with Sandy..

Sandy: Wwowo...good for you..Please don't tell me you are exercising too hard..I want something easy. Is it the "running"????

Buffy: Fluffy and Lion are cute and appropriate names..I am hoping that you get some help from your endo. You like him/her, don't you?

Honestly, I do think the "hormones" are giving me more energy. Maybe it's the testosterone..LOLOL..

It might rain on Monday..So, I have to plan to have tables inside the house..
Luckily, we have a good sized downstairs where peeps can spread out a bit.

I was back down to 154 this morning. I was perfect at dinner last night..
Cheeseburger, no bun, green beans..then strawberries with cream for dessert.

I need taco chip control..We have limited places to eat and we like this Mexican place. I can do okay with the meal part..However, those chips are from the devil..himself.. Maybe I can pretend they are poison.
