I am sooo confused!

Hi all. I'm am Atkineer whose going to try EFGT because after 100 pound loss, the other 45 just won't budge!
Anyway, according to the calculator posted on a sticky, my LBM is 120 pounds, thus I should get about 72 grams of protein a day. Also from a sticky here, that would put me at 1500 calories a day to met all the correct percentages. I might survive on 1500 calories, but I'd be too miserable to do it for long.
So my question is, if I up that to 1800 calories, do I up my protein, or just my fat intake?

I think the premis is that if you need more calories then they should be from fat first and then protein....see the Trick and Treat thread where Dr Groves addresses this very issue..if you have NH&WL it is chapter 15...the percentages are a guide....I look at this as a WOE..not a math problem...just relax and follow the guidelines....I don't see anywhere that Dr Groves recommends 1500 cals/day....most of his sample menus are over 2000...

On page 25 of NH & WL there is a chapter titled Replace the carbs mainly with fat, not protein...there are so many paragraphs that I want to recommend but really you should for sure read Chapter 1...if you don't have the book his website which I don't have a link for but is in the T & T thread has all the info you need

Good luck and please join us in the April monthly chat thread

Hi LC Chick..

Lise gave you good information. However, on the calorie amounts, every one is different.
You have done such a super job losing 100 pounds..That is wonderful. However, you are a much smaller person now and as we lose, many times we have to cut down on our calorie amounts..(darn it all).

You know, you can try 1800 and see what happens. If you lose, then you have found your magic number for a while. It's so individual depending on our metabolisms, body fat amount, exercising level, etc. Try it at 1800. Barry just put in the 2,000 calorie amount for reference. It's not written in stone.

One of our peeps tried the 2000 calorie a day plan and gained 17 pounds in a month. So, obviously, 2,000 calories was too much.

Find your own level..:) And welcome.

I have been averaging 2000 per day, so 1800 would be a cut; I'll be one unhappy puppy if it's not enought of a cut!

Hi LCChicky:

I started LCing when I was your weight, although I am shorter than you. I could never eat 1800 calories and lose weight. Even when I was 189ish. However, everyone is so different..So, if you can lose on 1800 calories, then great!!! I wish I could have done that, but I had to eat around 1500 calories, then down to 1200ish. I am hypothyroid so that makes a difference I think.
