WOE: hanging on for dear life
I don't follow Eat Fat Get Thin but those percentages look similar to what I eat most of the time. I say most of the time because when I feel like I am having to many cravings for carbs I cut back to very low carb for a few days. I usually stay at around 1500 cals as well and will allow for a higher calorie day if I am really hungry.

Breakfast:
2 coffees with 3 tbl. heavy cream
1/2 cup full fat cottage cheese with cinnamon

Lunch:
4-6 oz of protein ( chicken thighs or beef)
2 Tbl. mayo
1 oz. almonds or peanuts
string cheese ( sometimes)
2 cups romaine lettuce

Dinner:
4-6 oz poultry, meat or 2 fried eggs
1/2 small apple
1 cup cooked veggie
* If I have the eggs I will have a slice of low carb toast with butter instead of the apple

evening snack
coffee with 1-2 tbl. cream

Mee....I'm not sure why they won't open for you but they are both in this forum anyway...just scroll down and click on them and you will see tons of menu ideas....a few of us post our daily menus in the March tracking thread and I'm sure you will get a good idea from that...here is my menu for yesterday and today:

Lise's Saturday menu:

B-breakfast bowl (3 overeasy eggs laid over 4 slices of bacon in a bowl), coffee with cream
L-LO pigs feet (not much left so I nawed some meat and fat off the bones) strawberries with cream
S-2 coffees with cream
D-Korean BBQ (the meat was marinaded but it's one of those places where you sit around the table with a BBQ pit in the middle, I rarely eat out and it was my mom's 80th so I did the best under the circumstances), lots of plain green tea
S-a huge coffee with cream, 2 bites of my DD's apple

This was not a typical EFGT day but it is what it is...

Lise's Sunday eats:

B-Breakfast bowl with sausage and 3 eggs, coffee with cream
L-a nap
D-4 oz fried ground beef, raspberries with cream

Since I missed lunch and had an early dinner I won't be surprised if I have something later although I'm very full at the moment...if I do it will likely be cheddar cheese nuked and another coffee with cream or maybe a diet root beer with cream

I hope this helps....I know that my carbs are low but if you read Barry's book he is okay with this...I often miss my veggies on the weekend since my fried breakfasts keep me really full....during the week I tend to have a salad at lunch with some kind of protein mixed in

Meee I recommitted to EFGT on March first and I've gone from 212 to 209...not as fast as some would like but I'm very happy with my loss and with what I'm eating and I know from past experience that I need to like what I'm eating or no matter how much I lose I eventually fail the plan...this is the first plan I've been on where I haven't sat around going oh poor me....I can't have this and I can't have that...boo hoo...KWIM?...and the best part is that I have been keeping my Type II diabetes under control with no medication following this plan.....my numbers are almost in the normal range and I anticipate that they will be at my next check up...

I really recommend that you get a copy of Barry's book...either EFGT or Natural Health and Weight Loss to really understand his philosophy...

Good luck

You can see Barry Grove's ideas, research reporting, menus, and recipes on these sites:

Diabetes Diet Home Page - Diabetes Diet. UK
Online Nutritional Information and Nutritional Facts - Second Opinions, UK
The benefits of high cholesterol - Cholesterol-and-Health.org.uk

The first link has the pages with the menus and recipes in it. That will give a clearer view of how he is recommending, but they are with a British slant and units.

I have been on Atkins, but am curious about this diet, I don't want to start up the old carb craving. how well does this diet work because I keep getting stalled on Atkins for weeks at a time.

WOE: Started Atkins--morphed to EFGT
Start Date: March 2009
My menus are often similar to this:

Breakfast:
2 eggs fried in 1 tsp butter and 1 tsp olive oil. Eaten with about 1 T reduced sugar ketchup

Lunch:
Ham and cheese Oopsie Roll sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickle.
Sugar Free Jello cup

Dinner:
Whatever LC dinner I cook up--favorites include: Beef Stew, chicken curry, pizza, oopsie hamburgers, a steak. Favorite veggies are green beans, broccoli, and zuchini and yellow squash.

For snacks throughout the day I'll have string cheese, another fried egg, strawberries in cream, coffee substitute (Pero) with cream and some splenda packets. Macadamia nuts or cashews. sometimes I'll grab a bunless hotdog with mayo. I do not let myself get hungry and try to eat something every 3-4 hours, otherwise I get to feeling very deprived and resentful.

I know sugar subs aren't recommended on the EFGT plan, so I'm working on reducing, but for me not to be eating cookies or cake every day is a BIG deal, so I'm allowing myself some leeway. This type of menu keeps my percentages between 65-75% fat, 20-25% protein, and 10-15% carbs.
