just an introduction...
At the end of January, I did Atkins Induction for 10 days. Then I shifted to the Insulin Resistance Diet on 2/10. I planned the switch because I figured that after such a low carb amount, the insulin resistance diet would seem great. It’s based on balancing the carb to protein ratio (15:7) and practicing moderation (max 30 carbs in any 2 hour time span) rather than cutting out almost all carbs. And it did seem great. The Insulin Resistance Diet didn’t’ make people think I was nuts like Atkins does. It was very simple to follow…but the cravings came back. I gained back all of the weight I had lost plus some and was frustrated.
Now I’m trying again and I’m going to just stick with Atkins. I like carbs and I miss them when I can’t have them. I crave them like a drug but I feel overall much healthier when I limit them. I’m trying to lose as much as reasonably possible before August. In August, I’ll be starting an IVF cycle and attempting to get pregnant. According the docs, losing weight will increase my chances (and low-carb is fine, they recommend it for patients with PCOS) but once I’m in cycle, I have to switch to something that’s more “moderate carb” rather than low-carb. Current weight this morning (on CD1 of my cycle if anyone cares): 201.8 pounds Eeek! Ideally, I’d like to get down to 150 before August but that would have to be a very fast (10 pounds per month) and consistent loss. I don’t know if that will happen. My first goal is 175. That’s a BMI of 28 (I’m 5’6”) which is what the clinic requires of egg donors (since I’m doing my own cycle, they didn’t weigh me…) So…uh…that’s me. Wish me luck? |
