Hi everybody,
I'm still feeling a bit under the weather. I think it's just a cold but I'm getting a bit of a cough now too. I take Dad back to his knee surgeon today. Hopefully it'll be a good report. He's supposed to go up to his nephew's for the rest of the week, then come home for a week and then head to Broken Arrow to my sister's for 3 weeks. He'll be back by Easter. I had a terrible weekend. I'm back to where I was after vacation!!! I'm doing an all protein/fat day today and getting back on track. I swear I don't know what comes over me when I just go crazy! A dose of stupidity I guess. Dad and I went to dinner theater last night. I missed it when I was gone and had switched my tickets with a friend of my DD's and Dad gave his to her too, so we went together last night. It was called Hats and Janet from 3's Company starred in it! I told her about the new duckling, lol. JK! It was a wonderful play and if you ever get a chance to see it, jump at it. You'll laugh your rear off and it's also a little sad too. I'd highly recommend it! It's about a woman getting ready to turn 50 and the women who help her through that transition. Of course, they're all Red Hatters and they do a bang-up job! I'll see you all later when I get done with Dad today. And yes, Cindy, I agree with Carolyn. Your food always sounds so nommie!!

Morning dear friends!
Gotta get back on track and get organized today. I feel out of sorts b/c I ate badly all weekend, like you Sandy, I don't know what comes over me but the eating does get the upper hand. My legs still hurt from shopping and running around for 3 days, I slept in to help with being so tired but I still feel tired. I belong to a dinner club with 8 friends, we have been together as a group for 12 years now and some of us already knew each other before that, so we are close. The DH of one of us has been battling brain tumors for at least 8 years now and his strength and faith kept bringing him through each time but this time, it has finally taken all he had left. He is slipping in and out of a coma now and it is just a matter of time. But, his faith and strength and that of his family has allowed him to live long enough to see both his children grown, his son is in college and his daughter graduates high school in May. So, that is sad news and I got an update on that this morning. Happy news, my son and his new wife whom were married in Sept. have found a house they might buy and he called this morning to tell me about that. Did I tell you my legs ache? ![]() , they feel all swollen and like lumps of fat. Wahhhhh![]() ![]() ![]()

Susan...I keep meaning to ask you where in Ontario you are...I'm just a bit west of Toronto....
![]() Have a great day everyone....I'm in ketosis and loving this fat/protein/small amounts of berries habit that I've developed but I'm having trouble with wanting to eat even when not hungry....I just love this food so much....I'm also loving that I have no tummy issues at all...no more indigestion/acid reflux...no more bloating...and I'm finally losing weigh... I'm still very full from my breakfast of iced coffee smoothie made with 2 eggs and cream with a side of 2 oz of nuked cheddar but all I can think about as I sit at my desk is how much I'm looking forward to lunch.... ...![]() |

Good morning..
Back on plan this morning............went exercising..Gary gave me a bunch of clothes for the dry cleaners..Hate to get that bill..ekk I was back to 151 this morning.........I'm going to try to be 150 before our mini-vacation this weekend........ Hope your dad gets a good report, Sandy..Hats sounds like a fun show.. You know, those darned weekends are "deadly" for my diet, too. Although, after having that lobster, I didn't gain any weight. Maybe I should have lobster every Sunday. Melissa is going to be on DWTS.. How is our little JJ? Those of us who don't have grandkids yet can adopt little JJ as our grandduck...(like me).. Buffy: How sad that is about your friend. Those poor kids have had to live with a sick dad for all those years. However, what a blessing he has seen them through those transitions..Prayers for your friend... MKay: Gosh..you are the spinning queen, aren't you? I am proud of you.. Lise: Why do we always think about food in advance..even though we are full? Hugs to everyone else..I need to make a list of all our Barry peeps...It's great that he has so many "friends"..and we do, too.

Hi Carolyn and All,
Just getting here. A lovely day off work today. We have snow falling as I speak, been falling since early morning. Getting close to the end of winter now though. I hope! I had my mock danish as usual this morning...sheesh was I ever hungry for lunch. I had a cheddar omlette and I am a little hungry again. I could always finish off the cocoa bark I made. Is this a normal reaction after 3 days on CO? Hope this means I am in the fat burning mode! Yeah! Scales are hovering around the same so far, but nice to be in the 120s again! I need to get my arm weight routine done as its weights today. Hope to BBL....loving this WOE w CO. Susan |

BIG NEWS!!
DD22 got into grad school at her first choice - Syracuse!! AND she got offered an acting job in Ohio for the summer - outdoor theater. ![]() However - Now the dilemma - Grad school starts in July. So - she has to decide - one or the other. She's also applied to Northwestern, but hasn't heard from them yet. They wouldn't start until the end of August . . . . |

The grand-duck is doing great. They grow so fast. If you are used to new born puppies and kittens, it just blows your mind how alert a newborn duck is. I will get more photos after I clean her brooder.

MaryKay: That is fabulous about your dd..She should be hearing from Northwestern soon, right? My dd lived across from their football field. Evanston is a great town. I know she will make the right decision. However, going to the first choice grad school is important, too..
Buffy: Oh boy, more babies on the way.. Zilla: Yipee..more pictures.. I made a little bread thing from the Jennifer Eloff recipe on the board.. but I changed it a bit..Here it is: One minute bread for toasting..or grilling.. 1 tsp. coconut oil 2 Tbs. almond flour 1 Tbs. golden flaxseed meal 1 tsp. Parmesan cheese 1/4 tsp. baking powder beaten egg In a regular cereal bowl, melt the coconut oil (20 secs). Then add the rest of the ingredients in the order given. Zap for 1 minute 30 seconds in the bowl. Then let it cool slightly..Slice in half and toast or grill with cheese in a skillet. You can use this for a nice egg sandwich or any other sandwich meat. |

![]() She's getting 2 undergrad degrees - a BA in Theater and a BA in English Writing. She wants to be an actress, and/or an editor. The grad school program is for magazine editing - her favorite field. The job is the acting part. I wonder how she's going to decide. Buffy - as a mom I, of course, want her to take the safest path - grad school! But if she doesn't act now - when will she! ![]() Maybe she could defer the school for a year and try the acting . . . I really don't want her to ask my opinion. I can see both ways! Yes, more pics Zilla! I guess ducks have to be more alert - or they'd get eaten by something!

I agree, she can always go to school, but maybe not always have an acting opportunity. Of course, she's not my DD or even DGD. I'm always for letting kids live their dreams as much as possible while they're young and before they get married and have children and their lives change dramatically. Even when it is my own kids or family. If she asked my opinion, I'd cop out and tell her she should follow her heart. That way, she's forced to make her own decision and will live with the results w/o having the luxury of blaming anyone else. Just my .02.
I'm still dealing with my cold. It's not real bad, just aggravating. And I forgot who asked, but yes I take vitamins and supplements. Lots of them, lol. I'm sure it's just what everybody else has right now. I don't seem to have it as bad though. At least not yet. So maybe the vits and supps helped that. I've been back on track today. Only meat, fat and eggs so far today. I am having a veggie for dinner with LO brisket. But that's all for today. |

Morning!
It's raining this morning and supposed to get colder. Our 60 is turning into a 30 and then slowly inching its way back up to the 40's by the weekend. Spring . . . . *snarl* DS19 blew out a tire during last night's rainstorm - he was out with his friends "just driving around". I woke up at 11:30 when he arrived at home. ![]() He had to change the tire in the rain. Today he has to take the car out and pay for a new one. WHEN does he go back to school???!!!!!!!!! Sandy - I'm with you 100%. I don't even want to give an opinion! |

Smart Moms think alike, MK, lol.
I'm glad your son got home safe last night. I sure don't miss that part of having kids at home, lol. The other morning about 5 a.m. my cell phone rang. I jumped up and grabbed it thinking "oh no, it's one of the kids/grandkids" but it was just a stupid reminder I'd entered into my calendar. I have NO idea how I got it scheduled for 5 a.m.!!! I'm not using that reminder any more, lol. I slept in today until almost 9 a.m. I think I might feel a little worse today. My chest feels a little congested and one half of my head is all stopped up. I need to find the decongestants. I can't wait til summer!!! We're getting the cold by the end of today too. And rain all day until the cold arrives. |

Hi everyone..
Yup..Brett will be home next week..However, part of the time we will all be in AZ..We live in a boring town so there is not alot to do at night. His friends get together and play video games. My binlaw is driving from Wichita to pick up my inversion table..Poor guy..He has a pinched nerve and he is a finish carpenter, so he does alot of lifting, etc..I'm hoping this will unpinch his neck..My dh will be glad that it is out of the basement..LOL.. Well, I am trying my 3rd doctor for hypothyroid. She is not really a doctor, but a Nurse Practioner and well aware of thyroid stuff. Her receptionist told me she is all about balancing the T4 and the T3. Sooo..I'm going on the 24th..Hoping to get some T3 along with my T4. Pam said I am not converting any T3 from T4..So, I am happy about this that I can actually maybe start losing some weight... YUP...It's always best to let our adultish kids make up their own minds. My dd was into theater bigtime while in highschool, etc..Majored in it at KU for a year or so, then switched to Communications..But, she uses her acting skills all the time and loves to do presentations..and speaking in front of peeps. Let us know what she decides, MKay. |

We have one more warm day, supposed to get to 78 today, then 50 tomorrow and I think 46 Thurs. and rain. It is overcast this morning. We really need the rain though, so bring it on.
I don't miss the part of having older kids in the home either, oh, the sleepless nights LOL. Too bad about the tire though, and having to change it in the rain, and having to buy a new one. Sandy, are you taking anything yet for your cold? Probably too late for the zicam that Carolyn was telling us about. Get well soon . I have some wonderful beef broth that I got from cooking a brisket, it is in my freezer, wish it was at your house.Good luck with the new thyroid doctor Carolyn. One of the endo's I went to for thyroid told me the only way to lose weight was to do atkins. I told him I had tried atkins and still didn't lose much weight, he just brushed that off with "well, you weren't doing it right then, weight just FALLS off people who do atkins"! Hmm, that was the last time I saw him. ![]() One more lesson to go in my MS Access class, which I am doing today, then I take the final exam, which has to be completed by Friday. I would like to get both the last lesson and the exam done today. Tomorrow I am taking DD#3's MIL to lunch and shopping. She is visiting from Canada until the weekend and we always go shopping when she is here. Tomorrow night is my monthly dinner club with my gal pals. I ate on plan yesterday, yay! ![]() ![]() to everyone! |

Buffy: Well, if your meds are balanced, then you can lose LCing, but if they aren't, then it is very difficult, methinks. I think you started losing when you got your Type II meds in balance, right? It's not only about the diet..I would have dropped him, too..That is why I am going to my 4th person for thyroid..
Off to Bible Study............................. Hope Sandy is better..I loved that nose gel Zicam..I don't know if it is too late or not for our Sandy. |

I'm afraid of the Zicam. I've read some really bad reactions to it. I'm cramming Vit. C's and getting rest. I think it just has to run it's course. I'm making veggie/beef soup for dinner.

Right Carolyn, the meds have to be right if it is the thyroid that is keeping you from losing. For me, it seems that it was the insulin resistance that was holding me back, so no matter what balance of thyroid meds, I couldn't lose. It is a hard puzzle to figure out.

![]() Cleaning out the refrigerator today. Taking out the shelves and wiping it down. I'm hoping to get one more nice dog walk in this afternoon before the cold spell hits. We've had thunderstorms 2 nights in a row! DD22 discovered one of her friends is going to Syracuse - it was her first choice for grad school - so if she goes now, they could room together! Afternoon ladies! Internet down for a day and a half and a bad call night at the hospital but you have started a conversation that i was going to ask this morning....HORMONE REPLACEMENT!!! AAAHHH! When did I get old! I'm only 29! Ok, next month is the 18th anniversary of my 29th birthday (I'll be 47) but I have just started to look into bioidentical hormone replacement. Actually had labs drawn and started on progesterone cream. The thing about hormones (even with a masters in anesthesia, hormones are NOT my forte) is that estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and THYROID are all interrelated. Mess with one and they are all affected. Carolyn, I don't know how old you are but hormone changes can easily start in your 30's and can definitely affect fat storage, depending on whats out of wack. By treating one, you affect the production of the others so if you are going to take thyroid replacement, it may behoove you to test the others. Ask your NP. I have been on the progesterone cream 5 days and gained a couple of pounds, all water I think, from the side effects I read on the internet. I go back to the Dr in a couple of weeks and will ask him if this is transient. I hope so! I think this topic, as is thyroid replacement, is very pertinent to this forum because we are all trying to either lose or just not lose ground in the weight department and the last thing we need is our body fighting us even more. Anyone have any experience or words of wisdom??

I love my bio-identical hormones! I also take Armour thyroid. Once I got the bios added I felt so much better and the weight is easier to get off and maintain. I had a hyst. in 2002 and started the bio HRT about a year or so later. Best thing I ever did. Stark Pharmacy has free informational seminars on HRT several times a year. Or they did. I never used the cream. I have mine compounded and I get a booster shot monthly with added B12. I'll be 59 in 20 days and feel great. Most of the time. Right now, with this cold, I feel pretty yucky, lol.
