Cookies are my downfall. Once I have one . . . .

And I find using ****** helps me eat less. I think because it's such a pain to put things in, I think before I put something in my mouth!

I agree MK, but it takes so much of my time that I just don't feel I have to spare right now. So I'm just going to wing it. I know what to eat and what not to eat, it's just doing it. I need a Nike commercial to run continually thru my brain, lol.

Hi Cariolyn and All,

I went out tonight after work and bought some Coconut Oil. It is called Spectrum, Natural Organic expeller pressed, so not sure if that is the same as cold pressed as you suggested Carolyn. It says for medium heat.

I can't wait to try it.

I read a little of Barry's site last night and started adding more butter this morning and more food at breakfast.

I fancy that chocolate bark made with co unsweetened coconut and sf cocoa and splenda, I think I have everything in to make that.

I'm excited to add CO to my WOE.

It'll be fine Susan, it just might have the coconutty taste. Which is a little strange with some foods (like eggs) but great for the fudge. I use both kinds depending on what I'm putting it in. I also use it on my face and body. It's a great moisturizer too.

Thank YOU Sandy for your reply.

I love the taste of coconut and make and egg custard w sf coconut quite often as a treat. Now I can add the CO too.

It was just my first day trying to eat more in the day than in the evening, as Barry suggests. I did feel fuller longer today. I had more butter today, and this evening I did have a tsp of the chocolate bark mixture w CO. Can't wait to see the scales this next week.

I am not quite up to speed with those ratios yet but I dont think I overdid the Fat or Protein today.

Sounds like you're doing great. I might have to make me some more fudge. I haven't made that in a long time. I easily eat too much of it and then sometimes my tummy gets upset from too much CO. Once I start eating anything sweet it's hard for me to have good portion control.

Morning!

I have the BEST coffee this morning!
It's chocolate caramel brownie!!!!
Yum!
A friend sent it too me along with a couple other flavors and a spring bowl.
I'm in my happy place! *dance*

"sweet" does it for me too.
Once I have that craving it's all over!

I started grazing last night and realized I was just tired.
So I got some water and went to bed.
I'm ready to start over today!

Good Morning All,

I am happy to report that I broke into the 120's this morning! Scales said 129.4#, this is just one day on CO. So I am sticking with it till I hit 125#

Thank you for the encouragement with the CO and how to use it.

Mary Kay, its good you recognized that tiredness last night and took yourself off to bed.

Sandie, I hear ya on that portion control. Be careful girl!

Gotta go start my breakie, lots of butter, CO and eggs I think to keep me full. I have work this aft just part time so not too stressful.

Hope to BBL with today's eats and activities.

Susan

Morning everyone.
DGS 9 months is sick, running a high fever so woke up off and on all night worrying about him, he is at his house but I knew about it, so worried
Have to get caught up on my MS access class today, I have 3 lessons left and need to get at least one of them done today. Then a meeting tonight, so, better get cracking!
Leftover roast for 1st meal today, it was so good last night, you know how some roasts are very good and some pretty tough, this was one of the good ones.

Well, JJ has internally pipped...which is just fancy farmer talk for breaking through the inner membrane into the air cell. She has not broken the shell yet, but I candled the egg last night and JJ was wiggling around. Today, the humidity in the incubator is finally stable so I wont open it unless I have to. I can see the egg wiggle every once in a while. I am just afraid she will hatch while I am at work. I want to be here to
1: take pictures
2: help if there is a problem
3: get her in to the clean, warm brooder as soon as she is dry

As I sit here typing , I hear ::tap tap tap:: at the patio door. It's Lana and Jack letting me know I am late with their morning snack

I guess this is where we report what we are doing on a more or less daily basis, so here goes.
I start morning with coffee and heavy cream.
I've been making this solid omelet because I need to bring my breakfast to work and it has to be easy make ahead: eggs, full fat coconut milk (could be cream, sour cream, or even water), fat (olive oil, CO, or butter), real apple cider vinegar and whisk well. Take a little coconut flour, ground psyllium husk, maybe some chia seed, a bit of baking soda and salt, add herbs (I vary it according to whim). Chop up some sausage and full fat cheese, maybe some onion and peppers. I mix up the dry to get all the lumps out. Whisk it into the wet, add the solids and mix. I put this into a parchment lined jelly roll pan, spread it out and bake 375F for about 30 minutes until done. Cool it and cut into 8 pieces. This works out to about 600 calories a slice, 75% fats, about 18 gm protein, 19 gms carbs (7 or so fiber). I eat it about 930-10 am (the cream in coffee tides me over till then) and am not hungry until 2 pm or later. The reason there's psyllium husk is because I read it can help with allergies and it seems to help mine. I wrap and freeze the slices so they are easy to grab in the morning.
Lunch today will be ham (organic no nitrates) and high fat cheese.
Yesterday it was 2 sausages, some cheese with greek yogurt and avacado with some spices. I was stuffed. That was probably too much.
Tea in the afternoon, sometimes with 1/2 T CO in it. Especially with CO if I get any cravings or feel like a sweet as it seems to kill that dead.
Dinner has been asparagus with butter and parmesan, a little cheese or meat - not much. Maybe an herb tea with CO. Sometimes a few frozen blueberries.

Last night, it was nothing - I wasn't hungry. This morning I was only slightly hungry when I got up.

I was down one 1 pound after going up 2 pounds between Mon and Tues.

I'm trying to get into the state where my body naturally eats only what it needs like Groves says.

I've been back strict EFGT for 2 days now and working my way towards that for a week...I was on Barry's site last night as well and went through all 14 days of his sample menus and I have both of his new books that I am working on reading...I must say that I am so happy that I have stuck this out and accepted that I failed the plan...not the other way around....I'm heading over to the accountability thread to post my menu...

My weight had gone up to 218 again and this morning I was 211.5...

I also wanted to mention that logging my foods and using ****** and such is something I just can not fit into my busy day...in reading through Barry's stuff he doesn't seem all that concerned as long as common sense are used to keep the protein down and the fat up with or without some healthy carbs...he often mentions 3 servings per day preferably only 1 of them fruit....so that is what I am doing....mentally keeping my protein around 20 to 30 per meal with lots of fat.....it is working and I think that less stress as far as logging goes is also helping the weight loss...I really enjoy eating this way...

One more thing....I found a recipe for what he calls almond and parmesan pancakes....I had one for supper last night and it was very tasty....very basic too which I like...

1 T grated parmesan
1 T ground almond
1 whole egg
lard or butter for frying

Mix the first 3 ingredients and cook in the lard or butter in a frying pan....flip and enjoy as bread or with fruit and cream...whatever you like....quite yummy and fast

Ok....thats it...I know I rarely post and when I do it's an essay...

Lise, where on Barrys site was those 14 day menu samples. I looked but could not find them, i clicked on the recipe site and those did not come up. am i doing something wrong.

Good morning all. The weather in KC is georgous!! 70's today but rain Saturday. Putting a buffalo roast in the oven for dinner about 1:30. Buffalo is the only red meat I have purchased in about 2 years. Now I will eat beef out but we really like buffalo. Made more coconut oil fudge with 1/4 cp CO, 1/4 cup Carb Not Beanit Butter (a no carb roasted soybean butter) 1t Fiberfit and a dash of vanilla. I pour this into a silicon heart shaped mold and make 4 of them. I only eat 1 a day of these as they are 200 calories each with 10 grams of protein and I'm trying to keep my protein about 80 grams a day so i don't want to waste it all on fudge! The rest of the day, i eat plain CO fudge. Let the horses out this morning to run all day. I have a 26 year old mare and her 9 year old son, a 15 year old cat and a 14 year old cat so I feel like I'm running a geriatric clinic sometimes, assisted living at least!! haha. I have GOT to get back to the gym! This weather is too nice and I have no excuse. Breakfast was 3 hard boiled eggs and a CO fudge. Lunch is a big red leaf salad with Ranch dressing I made with CO mayo that i made earlier in the week., 2 more pieces of CO staggered in the afternoon, buffalo roast and steamed broccoli with holandaise (ok, I am misspelling this word so bad, even my spell check doesn't know what it is) on top. I found this sauce by mistake. I accidentally overheated some CO mayo to make it mix better with my eggs and the resulting sauce was too much like holandaise so it's going on the broccoli! The left over roast will be made into shredded enchiladas on Saturday. I use Mama Lupes low carb torts and habenero cheddar and man, those are good. Have a chocolate cheesecake in the oven for work tomorrow. Difficult not to taste but the feeling isn't overwhelming! I just bought an ice cream freezer that atttaches to my KitchenAide and I have some low carb ice cream mix cooling in the fridge so we'll see how this turns out. Never done it before. I'll let you know.

Hi gang,

Just got home from a night at the Radisson at the Tulsa aiport..Barb's flight left at 7:20..We didn't get much sleep last night, so today is a lazy day.

So anxious to see little JJ.. Do you have to separate her/him from Lana and Jack?

Lise: Good for you..and Susan, too..

Tesa: Your solid omelette sounds great.

Buffy: Lunch is always fun, right?

Cindy: Wowowo..everything sounds very nommie. Yes, it is 69 down here..a bit windy, but very mild.

Hi MKay and Sandy..

I'm really askeered to step on the scales after 2 weeks of eating out. Today, I'm all about the protein all day..In fact for 2 more days to get things under control.

Gary will be home Saturday night..So, I have a few more days to clean..LOLOL..

Made the Parmesan pancakes on Barrys site. used it for a bun for my cheeseburger. I added a little garlic in, it was like a mcgriddle from McD's, little pancakes. These are very good. you can cut down on the cheese, and make a sweet version of this. Will try that too.

Wow, Cindy, you do have a lot of older animals, don't you? Have you had them all since they were babies? I have one SRD, spoiled rotten dog, but we love her to death. She just turned 5.

Isn't buffalo meat real lean? I've only had buffalo burger and it seemed very lean. Do you raise buffalo? It sounds like you must have some land.

I'm fixing ribeyes for dinner with a salad and leftover creamy mashed cauliflour. I just got back from a long walk with my dog. It's absolutely beautiful! Even with the wind, which I usually hate.

I finally got my new keyboard for my laptop. And I reset my modem so now I can get to Barry's diabetes site. I don't know why I didn't try that when my computer started slowing to a crawl. Duh! They checked it at the repair shop and said my computer was fine so I finally thought, hmmm, maybe the modem needs reset.

I was wondering where you were on the road too Carolyn. I thought Barb had already left for some reason. Have you read your new "old" book yet? Is it good? Anything we don't know? Sorry for all the ???? Inquiring minds want to know, lol.

Sunny,. those pancakes sound interesting. I might have to find that recipe and try them. Did it hold together well while you ate the burger?

Zilla, is baby JJ here yet? Can't wait for pics.

Hi kiddos,

Sandy: I skimmed through the old book..by Herman Taller. Honestly, he wrote this book in 1961 and basically said the same thing that Atkins said..However, he did say that protein can turn into glucose..too much. He gives his percentages..need to double check, but I know that the fat was around 65 percent. I do think he was more Barry-like in the amount of carbs, though..and lower on the protein..around 20 percent..But, I will dig the book out from my bedside..

Barb left this morning........We had a good 2 weeks of fun. My house has been neglected, but that's what Saturday is for.

A friend in my Bible Study big group just found out that she is Type II..Her morning sugars were 400..She did the meds for a week, then they were 200..now the dr. upped her meds and we will see what happens. I mentioned not eating carbs..(duh). The other Type II chimed in and said she lost 30 pounds just cutting out the carbs. I do think this is a whole new idea for many diabetics..I think they would rather "medicate" than cut the carbs.

We are waiting for little JJ..I feel I should be knitting something..

I have made those pancakes from our dear Barry..Some of us have found some of the English foods a bit too English for us..
