Rebecca, (as i hang my head in shame) I have NEVER been to Garden of the Gods!!! Isn't that terrible? I have lived here about 5 years now, and never have gone!!! Maybe dh and i can go when he gets back. He is in Iraq right now. I am not one for doing the nature thing, probably because I have always carried so much weight, so I am not too active. Things have changed for me lately, so it might be nice to go see. I am glad you had a great time while you were here. I like it too. It is home for us at the moment. I have really enjoyed CO since we have been here. Mary

Mary, please keep the snow!! It's heading our way and I really don't want to see it. The only good thing is it won't last long.
I love Co. Spgs. too! We were there 2 years ago on our CO vacation tour, lol. We did a big circle from Denver, down to Co. Spgs. to Salida for rafting, then up to Grand Lake for a night and then over to Estes Park for a week. We loved it all! |

Hi Ladies and Gord,
Just getting here after another busy day. LOL! on Gord being a duck. I have seen his posts and he is definitely a man in his pic. Funnee! Cindy, Thank you for the feedback on the estrogen-progesterone battle. I doubt if any MD will give me a script for progesterone...in theroy it sounds just like the answer I need. The other meds that were offered to me yesterday both restrict estrogen more, which I am not too keen on. I will talk it over with several folks before I make a decision. The drug trial does sound the most promising though...that's of course if I get the med and not the placebo. A BIG WELCOME TO Moleymum! WTGG! on that 4lb loss! Carolyn, Enjoy that stripping...LOL! and then all new bathrooms, what a lovely Spring project. MaryKay, Thank you so much for the re-potting instructions, no green thumb here. It is a good job the plant is not green, it is a burgandy red umbrella plant. Zilla, Thanks for putting EFGT in a nutshell. I too have soy for my bedtime cocoa, its less carbs than milk and I really dont like water and cream but I guess I may have to change over to this. Lise, Thats interesting what you do with the yogurt what do you use to strain it, cheese cloth or muslin, if so, where would I buy that? REbecca, hope you get those BS #s to co-operate soon. Buffy, sorry to hear you are still feeling the effects of menopause. I have only been going thu it for 2 years now and the flashes do seem to be less intense, unless I am just getting used to them. LOL! Sandy, That's good to hear that yogurt doesn't seem to stop weight loss. Do you add a few berries or just eat it plain and what size of portion would you have? 1/2 cup does seem small. Hi Mary, I started this post and then you had posted in between. It sure takes me a while. We have been to the Garden of the Gods, so pink up there. Lovely! Today's #s: Calories 1,417 Fat 106.5 Carbs 54.4 Protein 71.7 Ratios: Fat (65%) Carbs (15%) Protein (20%) Scales were up a tad this morning 128.6# I am eating more or less the same foods and I am not as hungry as I was at the beginning. I finally discovered how to do that on ****** instead of keep adding the recent food to each day, one by one. It was getting so tiresome. Takes me a while to catch on huh? LOL! Susan, how do you put a food into ****** without adding it on from the recent food lists? I do it manually every day.... LOL
Sandy, yeah, this storm is amazing! I have tulips in my front yard too, those poor little guys!! It is expected to snow till tomorrow noon if I am not mistaken. Luckily I have the day off so I won't have to drive in it! I would rather just stay home and watch movies with my dh...oh well, he will hopefully be here by Christmas so I won't have to spend all the cold evenings by myself!! Well, I do have my baby Missy...she does just fine. LOL PS Missy is a dog. My kids are pretty much out of the house now..... |

OMG, I can't believe I did that! See, I am in menopause!! My mind is going! Has Gord posted in March since I'm very new, I may not have read any of his posts. Lord, I'm claiming mental insanity due to sudden onset menopause!! Oh, I hope he doesn't read this!
Fourstubbs, my ****** is very extensive in the custom food column. I click on "create a custom food" and I have a column of over 100 foods that I use regulary. I only enter fat, carbs, protein and fiber. I don't get into sodium and the other stuff. Then click at the bottom "create this food" and it will appear in you custom food column. I get my info off the back of the package or if I find it in their directory, there is a button at the bottom when you find a food that fits that says "customize this food" . Hit it and it will look about the same but will allow you to change the quanity. If you change the quantity, say for cheese, it come up 1 cup, just scroll down to 1 ounce, then hit "recalculate" and it will recalculate for 1 ounce. Then hit "create this food". Now every time you go in, instead of looking everything up, go to "View my custom foods" and there is your list of foods you use all the time. I eat a lot of the same things so this saves a ton of time. This sounds like a lot of work but once you get it set up, it's super fast. Just click on your custom foods, put them in your food log and your done. There are ducks on this thread, right? (Big smile, LOL) |

Thanks Cindy!!! I will do that...It gets confusing for me, especially when I make something, like for instance, chile...I didn't put it in, but just added it (on paper) to my carb intake for the day. I would rather put it into ****** because it helps me with the carb creep, but didn't know how to put just a serving of it in there. Does this make sense? Also, I thought is was funny about Gord and the duck!!! You are so sweet. |

Hey, Gord..That "duck" comment made you make a personal appearance..We love it!!
Although, to be perfectly fair, there are many ducks fighting the Kimkins debacle, so peeps can be ducks, too.. ****** is an art and it takes a while to make it easier to do.. That "stripping" made me tired..Luckily it is only one layer of wallpaper..But, I can pull the colored part off, then the paper part is still stuck and that takes hot water on it to let the glue dissolve. I was going to do the fabric softener and water method, but that makes everything sticky..And, water is working just fine. Cya in the a.m.

All right, do any of you have this problem? I'm working my numbers for the day out on ****** (percentages are Fat=63%, protein=20%, carbs=18%) My carbs are so high because my fiber is 52 grams (!!) which is not uncommon for me. My total carbs are 76 so my net is 24. Low net by standards but I tell you, even with 24 net carbs, the only way today I could get a ketone stick to change today is by dipping it in egg dye! Not that ketosis is important but I kind of use it as a gauge to see what works. My theory is some of these fiber carbs count. Do any of you count any of the fiber? I've heard some count 1/2 of their carbs. My best days are when my total carbs are much lower. Damn that "LC" bread from Julian bakery! I think the take home message here is to eat clean and not rely on the "low carb, high fiber" stuff. Dang!!

Morning everyone! What a great morning to come on and read all the posts, you guys really made me smile and feel happy this morning.
Gord the duck and Carolyn the stripper, ![]() ![]() . Such fun we have here!!! Both are such good natured peeps that they take it all in stride. How Gord puts up with all us wimmin is beyond me anyways, LOL.Lise, there are some supplements that help with menopausal symptoms too, once you get to the point where that might be an issue for you. When that happens, go to a good HFS or get some books on them. I do the strained yogurt too and love Dannons all natural full fat yogurt, you can actually buy yocheese (as strained yogurt is called) makers, which are little containers with a strainer and lid. Also, Fave is a strained greek yogurt which is great. DH is still alive, only by me gritting my teeth. It couldn't be me, could it??? Maybe he isn't quite so annoying today, we'll see?MK, tell us more about StriVectin, I have always looked at their ads and wondered if it is worth the price? Soy for lactose intolerance, would almond breeze work here? Just wondering, I don't do soy but can use milk products. Rebecca, I know how exciting it is waiting for that new grandbaby! We will enjoy the pictures of both girls. Welcome Mary (fourstubbs), so glad to have the newcomers here, we just have a lot of fun in our group and sometimes we even talk about diet! I love the area you live in, in fact we have a nephew and his family living there. Susan, I use a program similiar to ****** and once you get a lot of your custom foods in, it really helps in the long run. Hi Gord, good to cya! Carolyn, that just makes me tired, thinking of the work you are doing in your bathrooms but oh, the reward, to have them all new, clean and beautiful. Cold and maybe rain here later today. Everyone here is suffering from allergies and this weather flip flopping daily is not helping!!

.. ing so much here lately.... ...Susan....I make my yocheese (strained yogourt) with a colander..a bowl...saran wrap and a piece of paper towel...just line the colander with a piece of paper towel...dump in the yogourt and cover with saran wrap...I press it down so it touches...and then I sit the colander in a big metal bowl and let it drain in the fridge for 24 hrs....you won't believe the change in flavour and texture....so decadent....I buy the Astro Bulkan or sometimes the Liberte natural....both plain....the Liberte is organic...I usually flavour with Davinci's SF syrup or diet jello powder....raspberry is my favourite... I love that we weigh in monthly and have the monthly thread....I can always check my weight in my first thread of the month.... Yikes....so tired of being swamped at work....*sigh Oh and I am so jealous of the new bathroom....I really need one as the base of my shower has a crack which leaks down to the drain a bit....another sigh* ![]() Lise |

Hi...
We are a "motley" group, no? On the "stripping" thing..It is not that bad, except for the high places..I think Gary should be home when I go high on the ladder in case I fall..My cat would be useless during an emergency, I'm afraid. Cindy: You know.................grains for some of us are of the debil. And, remember Dr. A. has grains listed at the top of the carb ladder..The last thing to add cuz peeps have a problem with them. Wowo..people excited about the weigh-in.. Anyone getting snow today?? We are supposed to get several inches tomorrow. Who knows????? I have been using the infrared sauna at my faux Curves. I think it might be good for my thyroid. I had better check that out. The temp is only 110 and I don't even sweat in there. I just read.. I got my paint and some new brushes, etc..I'm all excited in hopes that I like the color (blue for one bathroom) and (beigish pinkish) for the other one. Hugs all around................. |

![]() I feel so much batter after my massage! *happy sigh* Yes - the duck and the stripper have to weigh in too! The stripper can leave out her pole though! ![]() Cindy - I don't subtract the fiber. I just put it in ****** as is and sigh a lot! ![]() Buffy - I started StriVectin after Thanksgiving. I think my face looks better! My SIL was with me and I'll see her again at Easter. So I'll give you her verdict. I bought my first stuff at Sephora when they were having the smaller sizes on sale. Since then, I buy on ebay. I used to use Dannon and strain it with paper towels and a colander. Since I've discovered Fage though, there's no going back! That stuff is amazing!!!!! DH has to buy some for me every time he goes to St Louis. Going to vacuum!

MK, yes, keep us updated on the StriVectin. Sometimes though I wonder, at 63 does it matter much if I have a few more or less wrinkles? Like I tell people about facelifts, after a certain age, I don't care how much you do, people still look at you and know you are older. But, it is always nice to look as good as we can, sooo, I might look into it some more if you can notice a difference. Do they sell the whole body size tube? LOL.
For those of you who might want to try yocheese, it has to be plain yogurt, none of the flavored ones with all the additives. |

Buffy - I figure I have to use something, so I might as well try this!
You asked about the Almond Milk earlier - I've used that too - it's usually just whatever I pick up! Carolyn - NO SNOW! Lise - I didn't think of putting saran wrap on the top - I usually put another paper towel. |

I use a coffee filter in the bottom of a colander to strain my yogurt. Works great!
And I just put a few drops of stevia in mine to lightly sweeten it and enjoy! I need a whole vat of Strivectin I'm afraid, lol. MK, the stripper in this case uses a ladder not a pole, lolol. I love Almond Breeze but can't always find it. And I've never had the Fage yogurt but would like to try it. Is it expensive? I went to work out this a.m. then met my friends for lunch and a movie. We finally went to see Frost/Nixon. I was afraid it would be boring but we all liked it a lot. Very interesting. We have snow on the way too. I sure wish they'd miss this one.

Carolyn, Oh, that pineapple does sound yummie! We can't always get stuff up here.
Great to see Gord pop in and show an appearance. How's the weather over there? Thank you Lise, Sandy and MaryKay for your suggestions on the yogurt straining. I have bought that brand in your avi Lise before. What a great idea to add powdered jello to it. Yummie! Buffy and MK, you are our official 'guinnea pigs' re the StirVectin, now you report back here. Mary, Just love your Pup in your avi. Cindy, I hear ya on those Carbs. My numbers were high today too! I was attending a workshop for the day from work. I had avoided the muffins at morning break, avoided the focaccia bread sandwiches and wraps at lunch, I took off the fillings and ate that, discarded the bread. I had a salad with balsamic vinegar. I did take 4 grapes, 1 slice of orange, 4 melon cubes, which took the carbs way up there. I figured they were fibre so probably be gone tomorrow but they do contain natural sugar fructose. Sheesh! Here is the result: 1,433Calories 106.3Fat 65.0Carbs 66.1Protein Ratios: Fat (64%) Carbs (18%) Protein (18%) I was down a tad on the scales this morning, but having a weigh in on Tuesday will keep me more vigilent over the weekend. Yeah! I have just about be doing this a month now, so will be great to see on Tuesday. Susan |

Just popping in again!!! The storm is finally over, we got about 4 inches where I live, but today the sky was blue and everything starting to melt!
It is nice hearing from everyone, hoping to get to know you all better! I am frying up a chicken breast as we speak, I am really hungry right now!! The dogs of course all sit by the kitchen when I cook, hoping to get a small little morsel! I have a Lhasa, she is 12 now, she is the alpha dog, everyone around here knows it too!! Then we have Shelby, she is our golden retriever, she is such a sensitive dog. She lets Missy (yorkie) play with her. Missy can be on her back paws trying to reach Shelby..(shelby is in the lay down position too) and Missy just tries to nip at Shelby and shelby just opens her mouth and tries to pretend ever so gently to bite back. It is so cute. Yeah, I need a life, LOL!! My kids are gone pretty much, I have a son that is leaving in Aug for the Marines, and my dd is out on her own now. So, being that dh is gone, it is me and the dogs!! We have a cat that I call q-tip because he is declawed on all four!!! Not something I will ever do to a cat again, sorry guys. Vet recommended it, shouldn't have listened to him. Anyway, q-tip is a big orange and white tabby that we got from the rescue. Sorry for being long-winded....back to my chicken!! Looking forward to weigh in, hope this turtle actually can lose!!! Mary PS any ideas for the name for April? Last edited by fourstubbs; 03-27-2009 at 07:03 PM.. |

Buffy, Hy Vee at Ridgeview and 119th always carries Almond Breeze. It is in their health food section. I always have a case on hand of the unsweetened vanilla. I make my shakes with it. I love the stuff. And Fage is quite pricey. Super Walmart on K-7 carries it, of all places.
Carolyn, it breaks my heart but I'm going to have to cut down on my bread. LC or not, it can still cause a stall. Dang, it was good toasted! |

Thanks Cindy, I'll check those out. I think you meant to address those locations to me since Buffy is in TX, lolol.
Mary, all your furry friends sound wonderful. When our kids leave home our fur babies become even more important. My grown kids and grandkids make fun of us and how we treat our fur baby. They tell us we treat her better than we did them! Ha ha. |
