All right, can I ask a stupid question? What is an egg cream? There is reference to them all over this site but I don't know what they are. A protein shake?

Let me find you the recipe, Cindy..

Here are lots of ideas:

Egg Cream Ideas

However, the basic egg cream is hot coffee, cream/milk, sweetener, and a raw egg or an egg beater all whipped up in a blender.

Carolyn, that gave me a lot of ideas. Thank you. When I would do a search on this site for "egg cream", it would give me threads that included the words "egg" and "cream", not necessarily those 2 words together. Do you know how many threads on a LC site have the words "egg" and "cream" in them!!! haha I even searched the recipe forum but it was the same thing. A lot sounded good. I like frozen protein shakes in the summer.

Hey, I have a cat that has that same syndrom, in fact I have TWO that have it. LOL. Do yours have to sit on the newspaper too? What's up with that? Right now, one of them is glued to my right hip, not a single inch betwen us, no space whatsoever, in fact. And he keeps looking at me like he wants ME to move over.

Going to clean, have Red Hats coming tomorrow, I got slowed down cuz I had to go get Mom and bring her to my house for tomorrow, she can't drive since the accident, and then she wanted to go to Cracker Barrell and that slowed me down.

See ya all later. Hugs to everyone

Actually, I have 2 with the syndrome. And Pooter is always sitting on a piece of paper on the floor. Sometimes she obsesses on a corner of the paper, pulling it up with her paw. When she gets tired, she switches paws! They are funny. Pooter will sit be me when I'm on the lap top and sit by it (the heat, I suppose) And fall asleep and face plant on the keyboard. Maybe she is waiting for more duck video!

Yup..Alex is sitting on my lap alot of the time when I am on the puter..He misses his big brother Brett who had to go back to college...

Zilla; You are training your ducklings to dip and eat..What a riot. They are good swimmers, I'm sure you are very proud. Now, will they let you hold them without squiggling too much?

Hi to all our Barry gals and Gord.

I was down to 152 this morning........... Those taco chips from AZ are melting off slowly.

We went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. It's a local (?) chain that is a huge salad bar with a small soup, pizza, pasta and a couple desserts. I stayed strictly low carb with a huge salad. I even brought my own salad dressing, a fabulous blue cheese in the refrigerated section called Litehouse. I used to never be a blue cheese fan but this is more like ranch with blue cheese bits. Very good.
I also made for dinner last night something I'm sure every LCer on this board has made but this was my first time. I took chicken thighs, dipped them in egg and coated them in finely crushed pork rinds with garlic and black pepper and fried them in unflavored CO. Fed it to my BF, who is not LC and kept my fingers crossed. We both thought it was very good, nice and brown and crispy. Taking leftovers to work tomorrow to put on an Oopsie with CO mayo. Very good! It would be good to fry those up, lay in a baking dish, top with LC pasta sauce and mozzarella cheese. I'm going have to call in to work tomorrow because I'm cooking!
Went to the gym twice this week. I need to double that but I'm proud of twice. I've been way too lazy over the winter. Hate aerobics so I don't do it but I like how I look and feel when I lift weights.
Come here Pooter, Antie Z sent you some video of a couple of friends....

They still squirm when I pick them up. I am trying to teach them that "Up" means I am going to pick them up regardless so they may as well just chill out about it LOL

Good Evening All,

You have all been a busy bunch. Loved the video clip, Zilla.
Awwwh, bless 'um learning 'Up' they must be awfully anxious little things.

That egg cream sounds like a keeper too. Thank you Carolyn.

I have been working on my ratios a tad more today.
Here is what ****** says for today:-
1,749 calories 135.1 Fat 65.0 Carbs 81.1 ProteinI dont think I had that many Carbs but thats how it figured it out.

Fat (68%) Carbs (15%)
Protein (18%)

I guess it just gives me an idea of what I am eating. Looks like too much to lose any weight. Seems about right as I am hovering around the same weight.

Weather up here has been gorgeous the last week. The snow is thawing quickly and we have a few stubborn patches still. The plants are bursting through the soil though as the warm sunshine bathed them all this week. Hope everyone else is having good weather.

Susan

As far as calories go, Susan..everyone is different..Unfortunately, I am on the lower end of this because of my hypothyroidism..grumble..

However, on Tuesday I am going to yet another doctor to try to help my thyroid. She is a local PA..next town over. I did a "driveby" this afternoon so I could find it on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.

I made some brownies with 16 ounces of almond butter, and some other ingredients.
They were good.......But, because there are only 2 of us, I will have to cut them up and freeze most of them..

Did great today with my WOE at my Red Hat craft day. It helped that most of the deserts were sugar free (lots of diabetics, so I'm in good company) and my vegetable soup was a hit. I'm very tired so I'm going to head off to bed in a few.

Nite girls. Have a good Sunday.

Morning!

Cindy - Sweet Tomatoes are everywhere! I love going there! I've made chicken with pork rinds, but I love your combination!!

Carolyn - I'm sure everyone misses Brett!! You too!

Susan - it's definitely Spring here too - I just want to push it along a bit!
I'm on the low side for calories too - maybe 1200-1400 if I want to lose any weight at all. That doesn't give you many options!

Zilla - Can the ducks really learn "Up"!?!

Becky - good job on eating well - Vegetable soup is a great LC meal!!

DS16 had a girl over last night!
Really!
His first.
They walked the bike trail and then came over here to play Wii. About 6:00 I noticed she wasn't leaving, so I invited her to dinner. Nice and polite!
Then they watched a movie (in the dark) for 2 hours. I popped down a couple of times, DD22 came home with a friend and they wandered through. . . .

Then DD22 and I went for our nightly walk about 9:00pm
When we got back 45 minutes later, I told them he should take her home.
Wonder what HER mom thinks!

DD and I will have her last walk today and then she's back to school. I know next year is going to kill me!

Morning everyone!
Been crazy busy since I got home, trying to get caught up here.
Talking about cats, while I was reading this Tinker was on my lap, and or trying to squirm around and hitting the keyboard, then I played Zilla's duckie video and his ears perked up and he got up to look out the window to "see" the ducks. I kept trying to get him to watch my monitor but he was sure they were outside the window. He is still at the window, LOL. Just in case a duck wonders by.
Sounds like some other good shopping bargains have been found by our little group, Sandy, you really scored, that is a LOT of stuff for under $100.
Well, off to read the Sunday paper.

Oh, MK. I remember that feeling when DS first brought a girl to the house and I always hated it if I had to suggest it was time for "her" to be taken home, LOL. One girl I practically had to boot out of the house, I don't think she had any rules or curfews. Psst, I really got a bad impression from that, so was glad when DS and she broke up. One afternoon I walked down the hall and she was asleep in DS's bed, he wasn't in there with her and I asked him what the H$)) was up with that, he said she said she needed a nap. I told him to take her home, she could take her nap in her own bed! Geez!

Hi gals and Gord..

Ate very well at lunch and breakie this morning.

Buffy: How funny that Tinker thinks the ducks are outside..(not in your puter). I will have to show Alex the new video..I turned up the volume for the chirping.

Yup...we miss our college kiddos..Gary and I think we will go to Manhattan for Easter, go to Brett's church and then eat at the Brookville Inn..But, we have to check on Brett's plans first.

Yupp...Well Brett only had one girlfriend in highschool..A very nice one who goes to our
church and I am still friendly with. Sometimes these "girls" don't get it, so us mothers of sons have to set the limits. So many kids don't have limits or curfews..Good grief, huh?
But, Mary Kay, this sounds like a nice relationship for your ds..

Hi to Sandy, Zilla, Rebecca, Mary,...gosh I have to make a list of our "dear ones" so I don't forget..

Still at 152..(this is good).

Susan, that is about what my ****** looks like. Depends on your fiber if thats a lot of carbs. It's not uncommon for me to have 40-50 grams of fiber so 65 total carbs isn't bad. If I bump my activity slightly, I can lose on 1750 calories. 1200 calories is a starvation diet for me. I'm at work for 24 hours and we're busy. 1 more case and then I hope to get a nap. I think I'm eating right now because I'm tired. Again, the sleep thing.

Hi All,

MaryKay and Carolyn, Thank YOU so much for the help with adjusting and trimming the calories down. I did just that today!

Came in at 1,249 cals. 93.5 Fat 42.1 Carbs 67.5 Protein on ******. I feel it is shaping up more now, more inline with the percentages too.

Fat (65%) Carbs (13%)
Protein (21%) Alcohol (0%)

Sheesh! Cindy, those 'on-call' shifts must be killing you, no wonder you are tired.
I too eat lots of fibre in with those carbs, cauliflower, broccoli, psyllium, flaxmeal, almonds. I hear ya on 1200cals starvation diet. I really tried hard today to keep around that figure. I have been eating every 2-3 hours, just a little, to keep my blood sugar up so not hungry. I do need to up my physical activity though.

Rebecca, I haven't made that veggie soup in ages. Sounds like I need to prepare a batch as a filler. Thanks for the reminder. Glad it went down well with your red hatters!

MaryKay, Buffy, Yes raising kids these days is quite the challenge and raiser others kids for them is yet another challenge. Yikes, on the gal napping in your ds's bed.

Waving to All and Gord.

Yikes!! Now DH is sick with that nasty virus going around. He has the coughing one. And of course, he won't stay home from work tomorrow. I'm not even going to waste my breath trying to talk him into it. Men!! But I do hope he gets better soon. And I hope this is the last illness around here this winter. I'm ready for spring and summer and feeling great.

My plan is to try to get back to the gym this week. And to try to get back on plan better. Wish me luck!

Good morning all!

Off to Curves this morning..Looks like rain for a couple of days. I guess we "need" it. I never know when we "need" it, but the local farmers will be happy..

Yup...men are martyrs sometimes when it comes to sickness... When Gary stays home from work, which has happened about 3 times in the last 12 years, you know he is really really sick..

I was still at 152..Maybe I'll break the code today and be down to 151..I'm going to be really good.

Morning~
Went to the new movie with Julia Roberts and Clive Owens yesterday, Duplicity. It was entertaining but not nearly as good as I had hoped from reading the reviews and seeing the previews.
Today, some returns to make and hair appt.
Windy, windy, windy here lately and supposed to rain tonight.
Tuna salad for meal #1, not sure about tonight.

Good Monday All,

Thank you for your encouragement MaryKay. I must say keeping under 1400 calories...I sure was hungry and had to eat little and often, so as not to cheat.
I did my arm weight routine yesterday too, so hopefully that will increase my metabolic rate andburn some of this fat off.
Wow! You have a full schedule today...busy gal. WTG on those spinning classes.

Carolyn, I do hope you break that 'fat burning code' today. I think WE are all trying each in our own way to do that. ****** does give us an idea of where the calories and carbs are. If I up the CO, the calories go up, so what food do I delete I ask myself...ummmh. This is harder than I thought...but I am willing to give it a good try.

Buffy,
sorry to hear you were disappointed with Duplicity. You have enough on today with the shops and hair appt. Enjoy!
I may just make a tuna salad today too, thanks for the suggestion.

Sandy, sorry to hear your DH has that virus and with a cough. Can he take cold meds with DM in to suppress that cough especially at bedtime. If not if you have anything with codiene in that sure does the cough suppression trick too. At least the good weather is ahead of us and we can get outdoors more and avoid these colds.

Waving to Rebecca and All,

Susan

Morning all. Slept last night after last c-section so got to bed about 11:30. Woke up at 7:15 but turned over and fell back to sleep till 8:15. I've never outgrown the need for sleep. When there is a period in my life when i am sleep deprived, I always gain weight. ALWAYS! So I'm really making an effort to get more sleep.
Tuscangirl, I've said this before. I LIVE on ******! It is the only way I can keep track of stuff. It makes me measure things also because if you don't weigh or measure, you don't know how much to enter. It keeps me accountable.

I DID IT

I went to the gym AND walked the pup. Plus I've dug through all my closets quickly to fill a bag for the Vets who are coming in the a.m. I filled 1 large bad and 2 large shopping bags and have a small box with a coffee maker, etc in it. I need to do that every time they come but I don't always. Anyway, it was good exercise doing that too. I'll probably be sore tomorrow. I hadn't been to the gym since Jan. 9! Dad's surgery was the 13th. That's the longest I've gone between gym workouts in at least 3 years. I've done a little at home but nothing that vigorous. Now to get back into that routine 3x a week will be the trick.
I have a few errands to run but I really just want to do nothing now, lol. I should do them b4 the rain gets here though. It's so windy I know it'll probably blow in some storms. I hate storms!

And I hate ******!! It's a great tool, but I sure hate entering stuff. I wish we could invent a Deal a Meal type system for EFGT. Or a points type system, only have it be LC/HF. I bet it would sell great.
