Fiber grams
I'm trying to get my carb intake lower, this brought me to the question:
Are the fiber grams in food part of our allowed carbs, or do they get deducted? |

you substrack the cabs from the dietry fiber... I went to a health food store and a lady told me to get Sprinkel Fiber. You put a Table spoon on ur food that u eat. But I never put that much because it was way too much.. I would just sprinkel a little on what I was eatting.

To be clear, let's take an avocado that has total carb of 15g. 11 of those grams are fiber, so only 4 g will count against my daily total?
This means that I've been recording far fewer carbs than I realized. That would be a GOOD thing! |

Hey, I went searching and found a couple threads about this at the low carb lobby.
There is some difference of opinion, mainly based on what kind of food it is. Some say, you shouldn't subtract the fiber at all, (esp if you're not losing...) Others say it depends on what type of food it is; i.e., naturally occuring fiber in whole foods "Yes". Fiber counts listed on manufactured LC foods, not so much. One person said maybe subtract half of the carbs in those whole foods. I've been eating only whole foods (mainly fresh veg) so this is good news for me...
