Hi everyone! I am new to EFGT but am very interested and in the process of reading, "Trick or Treat". Do any of you count calories or just use the percentages as a guideline? I keep yo-yoing up and down 6-8 pounds on Atkins and have to find something that keeps me more stable. I am a calorie counter and that for me that might be a hard habit to break. I realize that while on Atkins I really was not eating a great deal of fat and am working really hard to get it in now. Any advice for a newbie will be well received!

Hi everyone..

Mary Kay: Have fun in Indy..God Bless Ya...Swimming mothers are very special..lots of patience. You can carry our bags for sure..

Hey, I think I was down to 149 this morning............I am sincerely hoping that the jump in my Synthroid is helping me..crossing fingers and toes.

Homes: Welcome, welcome...Well, most of us Barry gals/guys have found out that overeating protein is the problem. Too much protein acts like carbs and that is not a good thing for weightloss. Now, some of us count carbs, some of us have to watch
the calorie amounts, too. I'm one that cannot eat alot of calories along with other peeps. Find your correct protein amount..Probably between 60-80 grams a day. Then add some good veggies and a tiny bit of fruit, if you want. Don't drown yourself in fat, but don't worry about it too much either. Skip the grains for a while until you get a handle on the plan...HTH.

Late morning everyone, well, it is already afternoon I guess.

Homestretch.

Slept late today, was up during the night not feeling the best, hope it isn't the flu that is striking around here, I feel kind of off today.

Nothing to report around here either, still just trying to get back into my groove since returning from Florida. Might catch a movie later today.

You forgot to leave me a trail! I got lost

Anyway...still haven't dropped my 5lbs over from the holidays, but I am in pretty deep ketosis...either that or I was eating cat food in my sleep

(((((Zilla))))) Honestly, for me...once you regain that lost weight, it is so darned hard to lose it..grumble..I do think it has to do with the Set Point Theory..But, it can be done with us being perfect....

LOLO..The cat food in your sleep..I'm sure your dh would tell you. Cat food breath is pretty potent..

Gosh...((((Buffy)))..Hope you don't "got" the flu. If it's a cold thing, then the Zicam with the nose swaps..that really helped "curbed" my cold. Hope it's not your tummy..

Hi everyone..

I just made an almond flour coffee cake..1 1/2 sticks of butter and 4 ounces of cream cheese were involved with 2 1/3 cups of almond flour.......Portion control needed here..

Morning everyone.
Figured out the "off" feeling I am having, it is my hormonal cycle. Since I don't have periods anymore, it always catches me by surprise that I still can feel the cycle. I always have 2 nights of not being able to sleep, then of course really being tired. One to 3 days of wanting to eat everything that can't run away from me and is carby, a backache, bathroom issues, then wanting to crash and the appetite settles down again. So, kind of flu like symptoms, I guess . Anyway, it almost always happens along the first weekend of the month, full moon, and I woke up this morning with the backache and had that moment! So, glad it isn't the flu, this will be a miracle cure in about another day
Went to the movie "Taken" yesterday, quite good. Think I will catch another this afternoon and then back to the grind tomorrow. I do have some rugs in the washer this morning and need to pick up the house.
Oh, and Kroger has brisket on sale for .87/lb, so going by there to pick one of those up. I am going to start back tomorrow on meat/eggs for a few days to get firmly back on track.

Hi!
I'm home.

We had a great time - I love Indy!
Great food, so-so shopping. I can't find anything I like!
We did find a Trader Joe's and I bought Fage yogurt and hummus. I'm excited!!!

DS16 swam great! He took off time in everything - which is especially cool, because he took off time a month ago too!

We had a team dinner Saturday night.
Great Italian place, where I was good and had chicken marsala and bad because I had too much bread! That balances out, right?!?

Homes!

Zilla - I wondered where you were!

Buffy - I still "feel" cycles too even though I shouldn't . . . .

Carolyn - Indy is a fun meet - it's in the Natatorium where the Olympic Trials are held, so we always enjoy ourselves!

MK, sounds like you had a great time and DS did awesome!
Yes, I certainly didn't think I would still be "feeling" cycles at this age, geez, enough already!
Carolyn, told my DD about the Zicam, she didn't get it this time b/c her cold was already getting better, but that is good to know.
I went to see Gran Torino today, ok, not sure why some people thought it was great, but it was good enough I guess.
Have to go to the eye Dr. tomorrow.

Morning all! Feels good to be back online. Last week was a nightmare! But first of all, ct scan was normal in all ways 'cept the stupid ulcer. Got home from the dr and that afternoon ended up with an intestinal virus! Feeling better now and the ulcer pain is consistently getting better. Hope this is all done for awhile!

MK, sounds like you had fun. I think I need a get-away-weekend soon, too. Indy is fun - ever been to the 500?
And yes - chicken marsala and bread do balance out - for an Italian, that is!

Hi Carolyn, Buffy, Zilla, and all our new friends.

Morning, gloomy and rainy here in Dallas this morning. I have a 12:00 appt with Apple to try to get my stupid Iphone to send email! It is some kind of Verizon thing but Verizon professes to know nothing about any such problem although I see it all over the internet. Hoping some smart young geek at Apple can help me out, then on to eye Dr. at 1:30 for annual ckup! Grocery store after, Kroger has brisket for .87/lb so I need to snatch a couple of them up for the freezer.

It seems that the big Eastwood fans love it, and others are more "take it or leave it".

OMGoodness..What were you thinking??? First of all...6 a.m..then second of all 45 minutes of spinning..........

Missed you guys yesterday as we were picking out toilets in B'Ville for our bathroom re-dos. Next week, we will drive the pickup down and get them.
Of course, this always entails a meal out..We went to Golden Corral and the
young lady gave us both the senior discount... Well, I think the senior discount starts at 55 and my dh has grey hair.. It was very good..

I'm so glad you guys preview the movies before I think about seeing them..
Anyone see the Changeling? I think it is out for rental soon.

Did my chiro/treadmilling this morning..I got a jicama yesterday and I'm going to try to make hashbrowns again with it..Last time it was very nommie, but
this one might be tougher..I shred it, then boil the shreds until they turn soft.

Shon: Glad your ulcer is better............and nice to see ya..

MaryK: Yeah for your ds..Glad you had fun in Indy..

Buffy: Good luck with your cell..Geeks are the bestest..

LE: How is it going??? Nice to see ya this morning.

I bet Sandy is coming home..all tanned and rested...

Cyalater...........Hi to everyone else.

Morning everyone.

Supposed to be 72 here today, gee MK, you are almost as warm as TX.

Tackling the office and laundry today, no chance of getting all the office work done but I can make a huge run at it. 2 Access lessons to do as another one drops online tomorrow. I hope I am learning it, I get through the lessons easily enough, but I don't retain info nearly as good as I used to.

My friend June and I just got back from our 2 mile walk after Curves. Great weather..60, but still need a hat/jacket..

Hope everyone is having a great day...................any special plans for Valentine's Day???

There's also a Wichita person on the Shorties board!

It was great here today!
Walked the dog without a jacket for 45 minutes.
I love this weather!!

Carolyn - That's great on the inches!!!

Buffy - what are access lessons?

3 shelves finished on the pantry.
garage swept.
door open so maybe some of the water will evaporate!
raked and swept a trashcan full of leaves and sticks.
walked the dog.
productive day!

Microsoft Access, their database program in MS Office. I need to learn it for our business, have been using a really really old one that won't even run on Vista. Plus, good for my old brain to have to work a little.

Wow, productive is right MK!

We are under a tornado watch, looks like it is really bad around Oklahoma City.

I tried a Zumba class last night. It was fun but there was some high impact stuff which I try to avoid. I did great until the last song. I think we just about killed our friend Beth ...and the class was her idea!!!

DId I tell you guys I made an incubator out of an old cigar humidor? I set 6 eggs in it and just candled the eggs yesterday....

I HAVE BABIES!!!!

Ok, they are about the size of half a pencil eraser, but they are developing!

I put up a new examiner post today. It has an old and a new pic of me if you want a good laugh
