Great news Sandy, have been waiting to hear.
Zilla, congrats on your son becoming a soldier. We are proud of them all. Found a SF preserve today at Krogers, their brand, that is 1 net carb per T. Will replace my Smuckers SF jam in my FAGE. Very good too, sweetened with splenda. And, tried zoodles tonight, also very good. Thinly sliced zucchini that you saute in butter, then cover with a alfredo sauce, or just eat as a veggie. |

Hi guys..
My "mouse" (knitting project) needs a makeover, but I'm too tired right now.. Zilla: Wow..I'm sure you are proud of your son..We are and will remember him in our thoughts and prayers. My niece's dh who is 31 wants to go into the Navy/Army for the job/education opportunity. I'm hoping he gets in. I wish we had a Krogers..or a Dillons.. Off to bed...Cya later on tomorrow.. Sandy: So glad your dad did well...and good deal that your bro showed up. Well, your dad will be busy with rehab..and it's a good thing while he is still strong enough to do it. Hugs all around................

Carolyn, I did that keto calc. and it seems like the pro is pretty high.? Which I'd love but I'm not sure about according to what Barry says? Are you trying this? |

Morning Sandy and MK! And everyone!
Sandy, that is such good news about your dad. I hope he had a pain-free night. Keep us posted. I didn't send anyone snow - seems you are all sending it our way! It's frickin' freezin' this morning. It's 1 right now and only going to 9 today with more snow today and tomorrow. I went to get the paper this morning and the snow crunched under my boots. And when I inhaled, my nostrils stuck together!!!! ![]() Carolyn, I looked at that site too and protein does seem way high for a Barry-girl! But I do think the "ketogenic" type diets, aka, protein power et.al., do require that much protein. Might give it a try, but not just yet, with the ulcer issues and all. Interesting, though. Starting to take down Christmas decorations today. Don't laugh - it was just too much to start when I wasn't feeling so well. Actually, I'm surprised they ever got up this year. They do look so pretty, but it's time to move onto spring! ![]()

Morning everyone..
So glad you are starting to feel better Shon, keep eating to heal that ulcer. Carolyn, Tinker was anxiously watching the monitor to see you little mouse, so post a picture when he is done. Also, if you try that bready bread recipe that is over in the recipe thread, let us know how it is, it sounds simple enough to make. I have dinner club tonight and they picked a good but my least LC favorite Italian restaurant to go to. It is hard to find something I want to order there and I am firmly back on track and don't want to get derailed. Guess it will be some sort of salad. We have new gaming machines at our lodge, I am itching to go see what they are. We win tickets and can pick a prize out of the case in the lobby, an adult version of Chucky Cheese, if you will , I will never grow up. ![]()

MK, I don't care what size of container I get the Fage in, I just try to find the version that is called Total because that has the highest fat content and is just yogurt. But, I like the 2% too, and it seems to be easier to find. The versions with fruit and the one with honey are probably delish, but of course way higher in carbs and you can add whatever you want to the plain, or, just eat it plain. I like it either way. I just look for the best price and so far, my Supertarget has the best prices I have found. I was happy to find it at my local Krogers but for the 7 oz, they were $2.99 and Supertarget is $1.79, and, Krogers didn't have the Total version, they had the 2% and the fruit ones. It is the best yogurt I have ever found, at least to me it is.

shon, i believe that protein power calculates the necessary pro amt similar to the way barry figures it. anyway, isn't it true that barry says ketosis is unnecessary. atkins is a perfect example of a ketogenic diet, at least the earlier phases. protein is not limited and carb are very much so. i know for myself that if i eat too much protein, i will gain and my BG will increase, hence the gain. lower protein works better for me but i still don't consume a lot of carbs since i don't eat sugar/starch. it is hard to eat hc w/o those items.

Hi ladies and Gord:
Yes, I thought it was a bit too high on the protein, too..However, if you "raise" your carbs, like to 50 carbs, then your protein is lowered..Hmmm..? I was playing with putting different numbers in. I thought it was rather interesting to "play" with. Gosh, Sandy, I'm not that organized to actually do the percentages and stick to them.. So, I just watch the portions of everything.. Well, tell Tinker that I am working on the mouse..I have to give him a face and some clothes and then maybe I can figure out how to do this..DS is off to college, so I might not be able to figure out how to post it. For my Alex picture..I took the pic with my phone and then sent it to Gary and he emailed it to me...........LOLO> We are getting some "cold" weather from the North this afternoon...brrr..Don't know if Gary will make it home or not..depending on the flights. Hope peeps are having a good day.. |

I FEEL BETTER!!!
I only know this because I walked the dog in the horrible cold and didn't hate it too much! ![]() I'm not 100%, but so much better! I'm drinking some new coffee I got with a brand new mug! Why does it always taste better that way!?! Carolyn - why can't you take a picture and mail it to yourself . . . . ![]() Buffy - I looked at our Target today, and they didn't have Fage at all. Our Kroger only has the small containers with stuff on the side, but they're remodeling now, so maybe soon. At the Italian restaurant, you could get any kind of piccata (chicken, veal, etc) and ask for veggies instead of pasta on the side. Maybe even a fish dish. I'm more limited because I can't have the cheese either.

Hi all,
Dad is still doing well. And so am I. With my eating anyway. I'm still tired though, lol. I took my lunch to the hospital again. I've never, ever done that before and it feels really great. I was down to 146 this a.m. too!!! My DD and grandkids keep telling me I need to get texting added to my phone plan and I keep telling them "just call me!", lol. I guess I should get up to speed, huh? I just don't like the impersonal touch to it when that's the only way people communicate with each other. And it seems like that's becoming the case with alot of people. My massage got canceled for tomorrow. Boo hoo. I really need one too but I guess I'll have to wait til next week instead. I guess I'll live, lol.

Hi guys..............
Gary is on his way home from Atlanta..Prayers for a safe flight..He will land in Wichita and drive 2 hours home..Probably get here about 1 a.m. He could sleep at his brother's house in Wichita, but he wanted to get home.. Texting is nice when you have a sentence to say..Like "how are you?" and you just want a little note back. Of course, learning to text is a whole other thing..It takes me a long time to do it..So, I only use it when I need to write a short sentence. I ate mostly chicken wings today..I will be "flying" tonight. Oh..hey, if anyone likes WW II books, I just learned that Patrick O'Donnell wrote a book about my uncle, Stephen Hall..It's called The Brenner Assignment. Stephen was an OSS captain during WWII who was captured and killed. Us "kids" knew about his story, but I was shocked when it turned into a real book this past fall..So, I told my brothers to order it. We have lots of Stephen's stuff here..But the author never contacted us..I emailed him.. |

How cool is that, Carolyn! That's exciting. I hope the author does end up contacting you.
I fell down a bit on my plan this evening. I had a tiny sliver of DD's birthday cake. But the rest of the day was great. They walked Dad down the hall this evening. He now has some pain but hopefully the meds will knock it. |

Evening everyone.
Sandy, so glad your dad is doing well, and that you are sticking to plan and losing, well, one little sliver of cake won't derail you. Carolyn, glad Gary is going to make it home. That is really neat about the book, bet you can't wait to read it. MK, glad you are feeling better. Hi Jem, Shon and Smokey and whoever else I missed. Went to dinner club at the Italian place. Ended up with a chopped salad, it was ok, but not what I really wanted. The best choice for me on their menu. BB tomorrow. |

Hi!
Sandy - that's great about your dad!! ![]() Carolyn - you'd think if the author had done his research, he'd have found you! Buffy - anything I don't have to cook is yummy! ![]() They are closing schools here. DS16's school just scrolled by the bottom of the TV screen! |

Yeah..I called my 3 brothers and they were "shocked" that a book was written. My older brother has LOTS of my uncle's stuff. But, I am assuming that Mr. O'Donnell didn't know about us because my dad moved us to NH from CT when I was a little baby..(goo goo).
MKay: Are you having storms??????? I'm sure ds is jumping for joy. Brett always enjoyed those days. Buffy: Chopped salad sounds great. It is really hard at Italian restaurant. However, we order "stuff" with no pasta. We do eat the sauce. Sandy: Wow, your dad is sure one tough guy, isn't he??????? That is wonderful. |

It was 0.7 degrees when I got up at 7!!! Way too cold for me. I wish I could just stay cocooned all day, but I can't.
Carolyn, I'd love to have that recipe you mentioned in the other thread. That's one of my family's fav cakes too. That along with pineapple upside down cake. I tried one of those LC and it wasn't so good and I never tried another recipe. But I'd try the carrot one on your recommendation. I bounced back up a pound from that stupid cake! It wasn't even that good either. I'm going to make some more chicken salad to take to the hospital. I'm back to being good today. Stay warm everybody. |

I haven't called him this a.m. I hope they were able to get the pain eased after his walk down the hall. He certainly is a tough old guy. If he gets rid of the pain in his knees he'll probably feel only 50 again! He's in great health and full of energy. The pain has been his only limiter for the past few years. And it really hasn't limited him that much. He still gets very emotional about Mom but not as much and not as often so I think he's healing, slowly but surely.

Sandy, that's really good to hear. I'm sure he still does get emotional about your mom - especially when he's in the hospital or not feeling well. My dad never did get past it.
MK, I hear ya! It's 0 right now and going down to -7 tonight! I'm in all day and making pecan sticky buns for dh for work tomorrow. I know I'll be good because it's definitely not something I can stick into my stomach. So on some level, I guess, this ulcer keeps me honest. I'm just getting so bored with the food, but I'm feeling so much better.Everyone stay warm today! |

Morning everyone, wow, a lot of you are really having cold, cold, cold weather. It is 30 here right now and our high is supposed to be 36 today, so I will wear a coat, which I don't do too often. I did live in the midwest for years though, so I remember those days.
Have a meeting tonight and am working in the office today. Totally back on my woe now for 4 days and so glad I am past that binge I got into over the holidays. Still carrying around the extra lbs though and makes me mad at myself for slipping like that. And, we are going to Florida the end of the month to see relatives of DH and I was hoping to be almost at 200, now here I am back in the 2 teens. My own dumb fault! We have a new grocery store in the area, not real close to me but on my way to DD#3's house where I go often. It is called Fresh Market and I am told it is a great store, good for organic natural products and your regular grocery shopping. I can wait to go see. Stay warm everyone.... |
