mk, i never, ever cook the carcas w the meat still on. for one thing the meat just becomes this overcooked, tasteless stuff with a stringy, dryish texture. so the easiest thing is to pull the meat off in big hunks then cook the bones (overnight or equiv is good.) then just get those bones out and toss em. add whatever vegies you want and when they are almost done, chop up the chicken and toss it in. hope you feel better. happy day, everyone.

talking about soup, i am making the cauliflower bisque today, for the first time. hope it turns out. Have any of you, since being on this higher fat had your cholesterol checked. I know if we aren't eating all the carbs the chol shoud be good. I was just curious. You know we are all brain washed from the high fat diet. Every time i pick up a magazine, and they have a diet in it, and its always low fat this and that. On tv also tis the same way. I have been doing this since about June, and will go and get mine tested in march or so. I will be curious as to what it says

MK, just go to bed and pull the covers over your head, ok???
![]() Sunny, I have mine checked every 3 months due to my diabetes. My chol has gone down since coming back to LC and high fat. Now I am working to get my bad chol down further as it is still a little too high, I have added more EPA's in the form of supplements. I just put the blender coconut pie in the oven. Have to pick up DGS at 3:00, so will be out of here as soon as the pie is done.

Wow, MK - and you thought 'cuz you were feeling sick that you couldn't get into trouble! Seems like stuff's getting into trouble for you!
Just got home from the church and put my chicken into the water. I just put the whole thing in with some celery and a whole onion. I figure the flavor from the onion can't hurt - I hope! I also cranked the oven to 500 and put in an eye of round roast. I'll roast that for 45 minutes then let it rest. I use a cast iron skillet and the au jus from that will be really good. Since that's a lean cut of meat, I'm hoping it won't be too hard on my tummy. If it is, dh can eat it, which won't be diffcult! Taking my supplements today one at a time. So far the ones I seem to have trouble with are the glucosamine and d3. I'm hoping everything else will be ok. I also had only hb eggs for breakfast then had a broiled chicken breast for lunch. Really plain stuff but it seems to be working today. I woke up with some discomfort this morning, but that eased up this afternoon and I'm feeling pretty good. Maybe the key will be to just keep the foods to single items like you all suggested, for the time being anyway, and see what happens. Hi Sandy, Carolyn, Linda, Jem, Buffy and anyone I missed. Hope you are all having a good day!

hello can i join. and if possible what do we have to do on this challenge? i would love to loose 60lbs in around 8 months.. calling it a birthday present for my birthday on the 4th August
![]() bit bout me. Weigh about 160 pounds. hoping to loose around 60 of it to be my average weight. Aunts wedding being planned. arranged marriage. they've found a man but the wedding date is not yet decided but why be given a month to lose weight its better to start now and look great! shes lost loads of weight so someone will marry her and she looks brilliant. but i dont want her husbands side to see me fat and get use to it and be shocked when i loose it. also i dont want to be compared to with my slimmer cousin. my cousin maybe getting married too and i want to look great for summer/autumn. so it will be great to have motivation by people online PS: before anyone asks how old i am.. this site accepted my age and my mother knows AND my doctor is concerned about my weight so it wont be bad (: i cant wait to be a medium size of asian dresses to a small. i can wear my size small dress and not be embaressed to shop at clothes shops. because i went shopping with my friend and shes tiny though she feels fat which annoys me because if shes fat then im a giant. she went into shops which the biggest size was 14 which i will be if i dont be careful. the shop was full of skinny girls and i felt awkward. i need help. i have no nice clothes and my mum agreed if i lose weight then she will buy me nice clothes and i'll just chuck my big clothes in a bin bag in the attic for memories in the future like " Was i really that big? Embaressing" i want those moments... 2009 shall be my name. im serious if i lose all the weight i need to lose then for my whole life i will call 2009 my year. thanks for the support i feel relived about my emotions. you were her without really writing. thankyou. The cats opened the drawer and found a hole behind the drawer and were trapped between the first story floor and the basement ceiling!
Then the water heater over-heated AGAIN - steam spewing, water gushing. They're installing a new water heater tomorrow morning at 7:00am. I don't care how much it costs! *scream* X!!Sorry - I've had a really, really bad day! |

Open up a bottom kitchen drawer.
Actually take it all the way out. Now what if there was a hole underneath it - way in the back. There might be a pipe coming out of it or a hose for the dishwasher. But the hole actually goes to the area in between floors - you know that space. When you stomp on the floor upstairs, you're not really stomping on the ceiling downstairs, there's space in between . . . . Like the part here with the dots! ![]() The cats got in there and couldn't get out! Especially one of mine and DD24's. They don't like each other and were fighting in there!

Hi everyone..
Gosh, MaryKay..Now did the kitties get out? And a new hot water heater is wonderful...Good planning..My neighbor's had a leak when she was away for the weekend..$25,000 later (finished basement), she had it all fixed. Hi X: Welcome..We don't do "ages" here..unless you are 8 or under. It sounds like you are from the UK and it's good to think about your eating habits when you are young. Don't kill yourself with the goal of 60 pounds, just vow to eat healthy..no flour or sugar or white stuff.. Buffy: How was your pie?????????? I'm dying to try it. I'm glad you are better, Shon..plain is best. Sandy: You are going to shoot me..Beth called me with free tickets for Dancing with the Stars in KC..I said that I didn't really want to drive up there to see it..Am I bad? I know she is going with her neighbor and had 2 other tickets..So, I'm hoping that she found someone. The tix were $90 each, but one of the hotels she uses gave them to her. Zilla: Those cats..are so darned curious, huh?

Morning friends! How is everyone doing?
Oh MK, I do hope you have a much better day than yesterday! Between kitties, water heaters and viruses, sounds like something or someone needs to take you away! Calgon bath? Remember those commercials? Hmmm, maybe that and a good bottle of wine! ![]() The chicken soup was sooooo good and it didn't upset my stomach! I think I'll make another pot tomorrow since dh and I ate most of it last night. Staying in today - not as much of an ice storm as was predicted, thank God, but it's rainy and cold and changing to snow later. Definitely better than ice! Hi X and welcome! ![]() |

Morning!
Now the water heater won't get here until 8:30. They had an emergency - I can relate to that, so I have more time to get ready! I hope today is better too! Thanks for all the sympathy - I needed it! Shon - the chicken soup has been great for my weight too - I've lost 2 lbs since Monday! |

Morning everyone.
2 days of eating right, liking the way I feel much better now. MK, by the time you get through all the drama at your house, you will be over your virus, hopefully that is. Hope you are feeling better. My chicken soup turned out great. Then I made the coconut blender pie that is circulating. It was good but I thought it was a little bland. But, with a T of Smuckers SF peach jam on top, it was fine ![]() One recipe I made before Christmas that I highly recommend is Lauren's chewy nut cookies, I will go find the recipe and post a link to it in a minute. They are probably one of the best LC recipes I have found. There is another new one circulating in the recipe help and suggestions board that I want to try, it is chocolate chip and getting great reviews. Went to pick up DGS at 3 yesterday and didn't get home until 9:00. DD was helping me install Office Professional on my computer, then we added a spyware program without taking my existing one off first, oh, holy moly. I worked on it for 2 hours before I got it uninstalled in safe mode, those 2 spyware programs trying to load at the same time were creating havoc. Ok, sorry for rambling on here...BBL |

Buffy, those cookies sound and look delicious. Since I'm not allowed to have nuts just yet, I parked the site in my favorites and will try them later. Thanks for sharing!
MK, if the chicken soup helps me lose some lbs, then all the better. Since I've been so limited in what I can eat, I think I'm down but haven't weighed yet. The soup is helping with some of the boring eating! Congrats on the 2lb loss! ![]() |

Hi everyone..
Sandy: The Dancing was tonight..I had to do some WW calls today and I have a meeting tomorrow, so I really couldn't make it.. LOTS of peeps in our town have the "bug"..ewww..I just keep washing my hands and praying not to get it. Shon: Honestly, I do think that if you eat blandish, well cooked food, you won't have a problem while you are "healing".. Buffy: I am glad that you gave an honest opinion on the coconut cream pie. It probably does need some "fruity" flavor. And, I haven't tried those cookies, but they look good. MKay: Hope you have a great day today with a nice new hot water heater.. and Congrats on your weight loss..I do think soup is nice and filling without many calories..Hmmm... Maybe we should have our own soup thread on this board? They are hard to find on the Recipe BB, but I think it would be cool..I'll start one..I have a great White Chile recipe...and I'm sure there are other ones out there. Soups for the Soul..how's that sound? Zilla: I think you have a great soup recipe somewhere here, don't you? Jem is such a great cook, I'm sure she has some ideas, too. |

I posted this over on the CHEAPEST EVER MENU thread....
Chicken & Egg drop soup I made it yesterday and only used 1 chicken breast. I now have several days worth of lunches.... Ingredients 1 chicken breast 3.5 oz package of Shitake mushrooms, chopped 5 jumbo eggs 4 green onions, chopped 1/2 package of fresh sugar snap peas (need to look up and see how big the bag was) 2 16oz boxes of Chicken Broth Chicken Bullion and Pepper to taste Butter to cook the mushrooms in Fry up the chicken in your soup pot. When it is done, cover with chicken broth and let it simmer until the meat comes easily off the bone. Debone chicken and add meat back in to the stock. Add water until you get about 2 quarts of liquid. While chicken is cooking, cook chopped mushrooms in butter in a separate pan. Add mushroom, green onions, and peas to the stock and bring to a boil. Add pepper and bullion to taste and turn off the heat just before you add the eggs. Whip eggs together in a bowl. Drizzle VERY slowly while stirring in one direction for silken egg threads.

Yum Linda!
Great idea on the soup thread - I love soup! DS19 asked to go to the doc today - he has strep, sinus infection and a throat infection. Sigh. But the water heater is installed. They said we have to wait 2 hours before we try it. I can't wait to run the dishwasher! |

Do you think the tofu/nondairy sour cream would work in those soups? |

Morning everyone.
Did well yesterday until evening, we were out and I gave in and had some chips and queso, then got heartburn something terrible and paid for it half the night. Guess that was a good warning not to do that again. MK, sounds like your family is passing the bug back and forth, hope everyone is well soon. BBL |

mk, when i was vegan, i made my own tofu sc by blending/processing very well. i have never used the prepared products but i don't see why it would not work. i think the same rule applies; remove from the heat before stirring it in. if it needs warming, be gentle.

Hi everyone..
Well, I was back down to the 149's this morning, but I'm not claiming it until I am solidly there for several days. I am wondering if the nondairy sour cream would incorporate into the hot broth? Maybe you need to "temper" the sour cream first, MKay..by putting a little bit of the hot broth into a bowl with the sour cream to bring it up to the same temperature..Maybe Jem knows. Honestly, for many of us, chips are of the "debil"..I'd be fine at a Mexican restaurant except for those chips...grr..Of course, I could "refuse" them. Gosh, Smoky..Good luck on the night shift. I imagine it is hard to keep changing your hours and sleeping during the day..I'm sure you will enjoy Barry's book..Glad you are having a warm up..LOL Thanks, Zilla..Will check out your revised recipe.. Okay..we all know that homemade broth is the bestest of all. However, there are so many kinds of boxed broths..Rachel Ray, Progresso..which do you think are the best? Do you use low sodium?? |
