Hi everyone..

Zilla: That is so interesting on ducks laying eggs when there is more sun. Obviously, they want to have their babies in the spring.. But, you won't be having any baby ducks, will ya? But, then there is "Jack", right? Hmmmm..
I'll go read your article in a min..

MaryKay: 1/2 a pound is great weightloss..Keep it up. We would all like to drop
"5" in one day..but alas, it's not going to work.

I'll be at the "farm" tomorrow..Cleaning up and sorting out Betty's stuff. Brenda and Glen will be there, too..So Brenda and I can have fun in the cupboards.
I'm making some chicken soup today to bring for lunch. Brett and Gary will be chainsawing stuff..

Jem: I'm sure Barry is busy with his Barry stuff..But, he did pop in after Trick and Treat was released.

Well, I called to make an appointment with a endo that comes from Wichita
twice a month. I'm hypo and my dr. only does TSH and think I should have a complete panel of stuff to make sure I'm on the right medication, etc..
It is at the end of January..(wait, wait, wait).

Hi to all my Barry buddies...I was still at 150, so I look forward to being solidly back in the 40's.

I finished my knitted rabbit..I need to make a dress for her, then Brett will take a picture..

Since we are starting a new year, could some of you post some menus, it always helps me and gives me ideas. I kind of seem to be eating the same stuff all the time, which i don't mind, its easier for me, but would like some new ideas once in a while for this higher fat way of eating. i am in the process of reading Mary Enigs Eat fat lose fat. Quite a interesi=ting read. I have one of Barrys books, started it, but thought it was a hard read, but will get back to it

hmmm. today's eats; a.m. latte then an hour or so later, blackberry smoothie. lunch, a chefs salad w HBE and ham...BC dressing. p.m. green beans sauteed w olive oil, butter and garlic, a burger w garlic butter. might have a glass of buttermilk or yogurt before bed. i've been in a quandry lately over my morning smoothie...i used to make it w cream cheese then decided that i needed more protein in the morning so changed to cottage cheese. they are both good but cream cheese is a bit better. anyway, here are the ratios; cottage cheese smoothie-F 65 C 15 P 20.....cream cheese smoothie-F 79 C11 P 10 (this is percentages). barry is not a fan of cottage cheese but i'm okay w it. anyway that one is perfect ratios, right?

Hi!
No menus yet until I start eating like a normal person.
I upped the calories a bit today and will do the same tomorrow.
By Sunday I hope to be back on a normal diet ~ and craving free!

Calories 860
Fat 57 %
Carbohydrate 4 %
Dietary Fiber 3.4
Protein 39 %

Carolyn - I'm glad you'll have some company tomorrow at Betty's - it always goes faster!
And of course I want to drop it all at once!
Being at the swim meet tomorrow will help - nothing to snack on!

Morning!

Back to the swim meet today.
I have to meet a newspaper reporter for a human interest story - one family has 4 swimmers and their dad is in Afghanistan, and then do awards the rest of the day.

I did lose another 1/2 pound this morning.
One more day of this WOE and then back to normal!

BBL!

Morning everyone...
MK, you are doing great getting back on the wagon, I am trailing along side of the wagon but not firmly back on yet. I need to do a strict high fat low carb to get rid of the cravings, boy, once they get ahold of you they don't want to let go.
Zilla and jem, you are doing well too.
Carolyn, I think it is a good idea to see an endo, although mine tested me and put me on the same meds I had been on, I just felt more confident that I was on the right amount. Don't work too hard at the farm, I missed out on that, thank heavens when they did DH's parents home, he went for a week and they worked and worked and worked. Years and years of not throwing anything away.
Ok, my eating is better but I set Monday as an induction type day, it will take at least 3 days of that to beat off the carb monsters!

I'm with you Buffy, Monday is D-Day for me with protein and fats only for a couple of days. I've enjoyed spending this week with DH and I haven't cooked anything except a few eggs this whole week but it's time to come down out of the clouds and face reality again. He told me he's doing this again next year so I better prepare better then.

Hi everyone..

We had "fun at the farm"..Brenda is really good at tossing stuff, so it was a good thing.
Have a bunch of stuff for Goodwill. I brought a few dishes home and Brett got 2 waffle makers. I made some homemade chicken veggie soup and we all had that with cheese/summer sausage.

Wow..MKay..you are doing so well. Remember, you are short..So, 1100 calories or a bit more might be a good number for you for weight loss..

Buffy..Sandy: I'm with ya, too on Monday..Clean eating..I have no SF candy left, so that's a good thing. I never count the SF Dove candies I eat..

Sandy: Well, you have a whole year to gear up for next year..

Jem: Do you add protein powder to your smoothie? What is your recipe with the cream cheese...?

Zilla: You have such interesting menus..

Sunny..today's menu..

Breakfast, 2 eggs/sausage
Snack: SF mocha
Lunch: Chicken veggie soup/cheese/homemade summer sausage
Dinner: Chicken veggie soup/cheese
Snack: LC raspberry pie..(the last piece)

Guys: I'll start a tracking thread for January, so if you want to track your food, it can go there if you want, K? Tracking for the New Year..

Morning!

Carolyn - no loss this morning - but I did actually "eat" yesterday. The cravings are gone, so back to healthy food!
You're right about the 1100 calories, - it just seems like so little!

Back to the swim meet today - last day!

Morning everyone!
Wow, great picture of DS Mary Kay. He looks like he is in great shape.
1 more day until D day for Sandy and I, then we hit the ground shuffling, er, I mean running! LOL
Went to Valkrie yesterday, very good movie. Wanted to go to Doubt today but now a friend wants me to wait until she can go, so if I go to another movie I will choose another.
I am ready to get back to my normal schedule although it has been fun to "holiday"
Hope everyone has a great day

good morning. carolyn, my smoothie contains a cup of yogurt or buttermilk (usually buttermilk since i make my own), 2 oz cream cheese, stevia, 1+ T CO. the flavors vary; for eggnog, i add an egg yolk and grate in nutmeg. pumpkin-1/4 c pumpkin and some pp spice. berries of some sort (whatevers in the freezer). no protein pwdr. i use a stick blender. i've made smaller servings by just putting less in a magic bullet. it is calorie dense since i use only whole milk dairy but i always lose any pounds i've gained from eating eggs and meat for breakfast...somehow that has never worked for me. today i'm making a quiche w ham and jarlesburg. i need something grab and go. oh, i've been chosen for jury duty (never done it before). i have six days scattered over jan-march. will have to take crossword/soduko, huh?

I've heard bad reviews about Doubt so I'm saving it for a rental. We're going to see The Reader today. We're running out of movies to watch; I wish they'd put out some more new ones.

I'm actually looking forward to going back to clean eating. I never thought I'd be saying that! Lolol. But now I'm actually going to have to have a plan and not just wing it. This last 10 days has felt like a month, lol. I'm ready for my life to get back to normal for awhile. Then vacation time.

MK, DS looks like Michael Phelps!!!

Hi my Barry friends,

We "joined" the ancestry link, so Brett is tracing his "roots"..back to PA (where we went on vacation this summer). It is really a fun thing to do on-line..

Jem: Your smoothie sounds very nommie..I will have to give it a whirl..(so to speak).

MKay: Wow..your son has lots of muscles..You must be proud of him. Is he thinking of swimming at college??? Good news on maintaining.

Zilla: You do have interesting menus, ladyjane. In fact, if we all wrote down what we
actually ate, it might be very interesting, huh?

I'm with Buffy and Sandy tomorrow..Starting "clean" and trying to chisel off this weight.

Yes, egg drop is a great soup. I boil my bones..with an onion and celery..Then add some
veggies that I have around the house. It's just very simple and I usually throw in a 6 ounce can of tomato juice.

Cya later..Time to serve the boys bacon and eggs for dinner.

We went to see The Reader today. I have to say that it is one of the saddest movies I've ever seen. On many different levels. DH and I talked about it all the way home. And it was hard to even talk about it w/o crying.

I think I'll fix egg drop soup tomorrow. You know, when I'm starting my "good phase". No really, I'm looking so forward to it.

I'm so glad all of you go to the movies so I can get a review before we actually go.

Now, I'm looking at that chicken recipe..My thoughts..way too much mayo for my liking.
I would smear mayo on the patted dry chicken and sprinkle the cheese on top. It would probably take only 1/4 of a cup of mayo..Just some mayo thoughts.

Go, Gord, go..You are doing amazing..You are amazing to even be alive at those temps..brrr................

I finished my rabbit..I'll have Brett take a picture tomorrow..Now, I have to knit a schnauzer sweater..(?)

Thanks for the DS compliments!
He's not really that muscular - I think it's because he's doing the butterfly and the way his arms are.
And he's only 5'6" right now, so Michael Phelps has nothing to worry about!

I have the white meat and bones left from the rotisserie chicken from last week.
What do I have to do to turn it into chicken soup?

I agree with Carolyn. While I am very liberal in my use of mayo, 1 cup sounds a bit much.

I have an article up on my Examiner site about people raising chickens in their back yard. It features a lady who started raising chickens because her and hubby went low carb and wanted to save money because they were eating so many eggs! LOL

MK, throw it all in a pot, cover it with water and let it simmer for a good while. Then cool, remove the bones and then add in your veggies and other goodies.

I'm afraid of chickens, so I wouldn't raise them even though we can have a couple out here in the county..But, I like to eat them.

Yup on the soup..I do this all the time. However, be sure to peel/eat the skin off first.
I also add some chicken broth to the liquid in case you don't have enough chicken flavor.
In fact, with a rotisserie chicken, you probably had better add some broth to it as you won't get as strong a flavor as you would with a raw chicken. Plus, I always add a chopped onion to the broth and some celery and tops..

Ok, Sandy, Carolyn, all of us who have been hmm, overdoing it, let's say. Tomorrow is a new, clean start, on the straight and narrow!
Good job Gord, you lost while some of us were gaining.
Went to see Benjamin Button today, very good movie although sad at the end. The Reader looks like a great movie.
Boiling a chicken sounds like a good plan to start eating clean again, I need to go pick up Fage, will pick up a raw chicken too.

Morning everyone.
Ok, ready for a New Year, New Me day....ready to eat clean, lean and mean . My weight was even higher today, I had some movie popcorn both Sat. and Sun. I have been naughty, not nice.
We are going to Florida later this month to visit relatives, I need to get this newly gained weight off by then, maybe that will increase my incentive to get back to business.
For some reason I woke up at 4:30 and couldn't get back to sleep, finally gave in at 5:30 and got up. And, I usually am a late sleeper, guess I am just so excited about not eating any carbs today,

Hi everyone and Happy New Year! Sorry I've been away so long - have missed you all. I know you are all there for me - things were just too difficult to talk about and I really didn't want to bring everyone down, especially during Christmas. I'm doing better now and just putting one foot in front of the other. Trying to put a smile on my face every day and hoping this year is better than the last several years.

I do need some help, though; maybe Zilla has some wisdom. I had an upper GI study done last Monday. The pain in my stomach has been nagging for the past year, but I thought it was just due to all the stress. Well, over Christmas, the pain became unbearable. Long story short, I have a hole in my duodenum. Not H-pylori, but an ulcer nonetheless. I had to start on Prevacid 30mg daily and that has helped the pain considerably. The doctor gave me a diet that has way too many carbs for my liking and I was wondering if a low carb diet is better. I have started back on strict lc on my own and the pain is subsiding. I just don't want to mess myself up with high-carb anymore than currently plagues me, but I do want to arm myself with the correct info so I can discuss it with my dr. Any words of wisdom will be much appreciated.
