Have a great trip Buffy. I'll probably be gone by the time you get back. We leave next Sat. and will be back very late on the 14th. I'm so looking forward to our time away this year.

Hi friends..

On the geese subject..our airways are full of Canadian geese..Saw a whole
fleet this morning when I was taking Gary to work. Of course, there are lots of fields with wheat/stubble, etc. in them, so they stop by for snacks and then take off.

Buffy: You know, I would love Tinker to stay with us..I think Alex would adjust. He has been an "only cat" for his whole life. Can we say, Spoiled? My dd and my sisinlaw both have spoiled girl cats and we would love to make a connection with them, but we haven't dared to do that.. Have a great time, Buffy.

I have Italian Beef in my mother-in-law's electric skillet..I have never made this recipe, but my friend makes it all the time..We'll see how dh likes it.

Oh, that Benjamin movie is in town..I may have to talk Gary into going with me...Anyone seen it?

Carolyn...I really enjoyed Benjamin Buttons...very warm and fuzzy once you get past the fact that it can't really happen...some might call it a chick flick...

Yep, to the beach, Buffy. Where else is there? Lol.

My DH loved B. Button! It's so original which is hard to find it seems.

What's the recipe for Italian beef?

We have Canada geese that live here all year long. They're actually quite a nuisance in the local parks. They were never around when I was younger but for the last 20+ years they're everywhere!

I snuck away mid-day with my BFF and we went to see Revolutionary Road. We were pretty sure the guys wouldn't want to see it and now we're sure they wouldn't. But we liked it. It's a pretty sad, disturbing movie but some great acting. It's set in the 50's so the characters would be my parents' generation. Love the actors!

This is my Italian beef..

It called for doing it in the microwave (see the Recipe Board), but I couldn't do it that way..Too scared.

4 pound rolled rump or arm roast
one package of dry onion soup mix
one can of low-sodium beef broth
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. Anise seed (this is the key..you can add more).

Mix up the sauce in a pan and cook for a bit..Then pour it over the raw beef..Crockpot it
or bake it until it is done..You can also add a sliced green pepper..

When it is done, then you remove the beef, let cool and slice. Then I reduced the "sauce" for a few minutes. Slice beef against the grain, so it is tender and return to
"sauce". My friend serves this on Italian rolls..(big no no), but I will serve it on a plate.

Hi!
Sounds great Carolyn!
I make something similar - with a bay leaf and a few other spices.

Buffy - LOVE the Fage! All I can get are the little double tubs, but Wow!!
I hope I can find some of the big ones soon.

MK, glad you like the Fage, but the double tubs? Isn't that the ones with higher carbs? I haven't used those but think they have fruit, etc. with them and maybe the higher carbs come from that side of the double tub. Is it plain fage on the other side? Keep looking for the plain in the 7 oz containers.

Morning!
Buffy - I have been looking - but no store in town has them.
I just don't eat the fruit part and use DV syrup to sweeten it a little.

It's bitterly cold here today.
I'm tired of this.
I've also gained a pound overnight, but I was expecting it after tacos - too much salt.

DD22 is in Ohio this weekend for some Midwest regional theater auditions - wish her luck!

Morning everyone!
MK, you will probably have to ask them to carry the Total Fage in the 7 oz containers, which they should be able to get if they are getting the double containers. Darn, you are paying premium to get that small amount, but yes, isn't it very good?????
Good Luck to DD22 on her auditions, sounds like my 17 yo DDG, she loves theater, always is in something in the community and at school. It is so fun to watch her too.
I have had tacos the past 2 nights, didn't think about the salt. Maybe I will drop a lb tonight from not having them???? I have been 210.8 the past 2 mornings, so I am ready to go lower.
Just have to finish packing today, then take my laptop to my daughter so she can install a program on it to allow me to use their aircard. Then to the lodge tonight for a little fun and relaxation, then off in the morning.

Happy Saturday everyone.

Major good thoughts and prayers for your dd, MKay. I, too, was a stage mom when Beth was in highschool/college. She loved performing, but realized that the competition was too much in the real world for real jobs. However, that acting has come in extremely handy in all her jobs..She doesn't mind speaking in public..way unlike most of her friends..

I'm sure Buffy has left the building..And we are here freezing.. It's 25. Dh and I have decided to moderately re-do 2 bathrooms..No walls removed..Just new sinks/toilets/wall stuff/flooring. We do not want to remove the blue tub in the main hall bathroom..So we can cover it up with a nice shower curtain and go "beige" everywhere else..

Gosh..I had some of those very nommie wingdings that you can get at the Wallie deli..
They are TOO good..They are fried and have a little bit of coating on them, but I don't worry about it too much.

DD22 did well and got some call backs.

However, I've had 2 glasses of wine and 1 martini. Totally PUI!

Going to bed.
See you in the morning!

Howdy! Do you do a Eat Fat , Get thin thread every month? I'm not making much progress on Atkins lately and was investigating this plan. My book is on the way!
I hope it is ok to hop in here for a little guidance!
I'm trying to start it tomorrow just by reading the info in the forum until my book arrives.

Morning!

Yes, we do a new thread each month - talk about food, exercise and life.
We'd love to have you join us - but what do we call you?

It's snowing!!!
DD22 is on her way back from Ohio - she was in Indy about an hour ago, so only 3 more hours to go - hopefully she'll plow through the snow safely!

Near Eau Claire. How about you?

I want to start this plan tomorrow without the book. From the stickies I think it's 60-70% fat about 80 grams of protein (for my weight) and around 40 carbs. That right? Do I need to split the carbs up equally ?

So I need to stay under 11% carbs per meal and split the protein through out the day? Sorry to be bombarding you with questions

Carolyn - is the expert and I may have this wrong - but don't make it so complicated.
Do it by the day not necessarily by the meal.
****** is a great tool for this WOE.

By the day sounds way easier. Thank you! I had looked at the tracking thread and saw a lot broke down by the meal and I thought oh no lots of math!

Hi everyone..

Brrr...it's cold here, too..24..Not like other places, though..Buffy is in sunny Florida soaking up some warmth.

Hi Michelle..We don't do the math very much. If you just divide your protein throughout the day so you aren't eating all 80 grams at once and nothing the rest of the day, you will be "on target". Watch the carbs..no grains is always a good place to start with some good veggies as your main carb allotment.

Gosh...prayers for MaryKay's dd coming home. I don't blame her for getting lost around
Indy...Let us know when she gets home safely.

Went to some friends' house after church..She made veggie soup and chicken salad. I brought that banana split dessert. She is trying to show me how to crochet with that
thread stuff..Hard..and hard to see.

Hi Sunny and Gord.. Wonder if Sandy is visiting her dad..

We loved Benjamin Button..What a unique story and good for discussion.

I have my thyroid appointment this Tuesday morning..Weather looks like it's going to be sleeting, so I don't know if the doctor will make it from Wichita. I have to travel
40 miles, so I'll keep abreast of the weather, too.

Hi Zilla and Jem and Shon and Margot..and anyone I missed.

My weight loss is driving me nuts..or lack of "loss"....grumble, grumble. I think I will really try to keep track of what I eat this week so I can see what the problem is.
