Morning everyone.
Love the extra hour
Have a busy day today, DGS came home with me after his game last night, he is up wanting his cheesy eggs we always make for breakfast. Then I need to try to get in to get my nails done, and have a baby shower to go to at 4:00. Then we begin yet another week. So far this week doesn't look too busy.

I needed the extra hour today... DD6 threw up all over my living room last night (bean bag chair, white rug, down the hall.....) and Cave Baby learned 2 new words and practiced them incessantly until well past 1am (NET NET NET NET WAT WAT WAT WAT NET NET NET WAT WAT WAT)

Hubby got the day off so he went hunting and is going to stop and pick me up some O eggs on the way home. If he shoots a deer I will be buying a new deep freeze because the one I have will be filled with my 1/2 BEEF tomorrow

Life is sometimes too good LOL

Hi ladies - I'm back!

I haven't abandoned you or the diet, promise I just felt I was getting a bit obsessive, thinking about it all the time. The fact that I wasn't losing didn't help. So I just sort of got on with it - no obsessing. I haven't weighed myself in ages (well - for me, 10 days or so actually) and I don't want to for now.

I feel this "diet" is well and truely a way of life now - I'm doing it for health as much as weight loss, so the fact that the weight loss is painfully slow doesn't really matter. I'm just plodding on - enjoying my food, but not worrying about the weight aspect. maybe I will be able to go as long as November 30th before I weigh!

Hope you're all well

Jane x

I remembered it was a new month, MK, cuz it's my anniversary month. 30 years on November 11!!! However the da*n car being at least $770 will put a crimp on the anniversary plans or any gifts that either of us will be giving each other. But you gotta have a car, too far to walk to work, too far to walk to get Alyssa, so I guess a car is a good thing.

Me too, Buffy, loving this extra hour. Procastinating getting the laundry done for the week because of it.

Cleaning the coffee pot and I think there's a leak in it now that wasn't there before. Darn it, I liked that coffee pot!!!! And I don't want to go looking for a coffee pot with the stupid car situation. Grrrr. And Becky without her coffee IS NOT a good thing!!!!

Going to go check it. Toodles, see you all later.

Hey gals..

Drove to Sonic for lunch.........Bunless burger, Diet Strawberry Limeaid..then off to Wallie to buy my "Shoebox" things for Operation Christmas Child..Gosh, this is a bit early, but they have to get them on the planes, I guess.

Lola: Glad you are back................don't obsess.. Barry would not be pleased if you obsessed..

Prozak: How cute..be thankful that your little one is chattering..June's (friend) dgd didn't talk until she was 4..and she never chattered as a baby, so she is having speech therapy to make up for lost time...She is working those mouth muscles..

Mary Kay: 7 miles??????????????????????? Holy smokes, girl..Did you know that Jillian is only 5 1"? And she used to weigh 170???

Becky: Hey, dh and I celebrated 30 years in May.. We went out to dinner..
and I got a card. I never expect anything but a nice dinner out for our anniversary..I get to pick, though.

Church supper tonight...I made a SF chocolate pie with that cream cheese/almond flour/butter crust. And, I also made my LC coleslaw recipe.
I will be "good".

Prozak, you crack me up. I can just hear the DAT DAT WAT WAT NET NET going nonstop! Earplugs may need to be added to your shopping list. And that carb counter is ADORABLE!!

7 miles...OMG, I would collapse and DIE, but congrats!

Sorry about your wildcats, Carolyn. We're Sooner fans at our house but holler for OKState, too. Stayed up late last night to watch TxTech beat Texas, and it was awesome. Of course, in Okla, when ANYONE beats Texas, it's cause for celebration!

Jane, that's how I want to feel about eating this way--like it's second nature. You're very smart to think "healthy" over "skinny!"

Buffy, thanks for the info. By that calculation, I can have 100g of protein each day. That's more than I ever eat, I thin, so this shouldn't be too hard to stick with. I'm glad to have the info so I can make adjustments along the way. Thanks

Well, gotta get some cooking done so I can get on the EFGT wagon first thing tomorrow!! I've worked all week on my BRAIN, so now it's time to get the rest of my act together.

See you in the a.m.!!

I was soooooo good today. No pasta, no garlic bread and NO PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE!!! Or ice cream!! Can I get a big wooohoooo from my cheerleaders here??? Lol. I sure hope I get a nice payoff for all my good behavior, lol.

We're NOT Oklahoma fans around here. My sister and her family live there and so we all have a friendly rivalry going on when it comes to sports. But I do have to admit OK has some great sports teams and where my sister lives the high school stadium is almost as nice as Arrowhead here! They're really serious about sports down there, that's for sure.

WTG MK! 7 miles is awesome!! I want to see that movie. I guess I'll go by myself this week. Everybody I know has seen it and DH doesn't want to.

Hey Buffy,
I figured out how much protein I could have according to what you posted and it's only 52 grams. Is that for a whole day???? There's no way I could eat that little protein. I have cut down but wow!! Do you know where I can read more on this?

Thanks,

Hey everyone. A quick runby, then I am off the computer for the night, I am really tired tonight.
I was just repeating something I had read that Dawn had posted about the protein, your body weight times .36 but geez, don't follow that b/c of anything I post, I certainly am no authority about it. I am just coming to realize though that perhaps I, and many others, had overdone the protein in the past when we should be filling up more on veggies, fats, etc. AND protein, instead of gung ho on protein. I think Barry does go over that some in his book, sorry, but it's been a long time since I read it. And, I read somewhere that excess protein is stored by our bodies as fat. I gather little bits and pieces of info to the point that I look like a lint cloth, LOL, but am not very certain of any of it, haha.
BB tomorrow everyone.

Hi ladies..

Yes, Gary is driving around Finland. He might have to go to Estonia on Thursday..(where is that?)..Anyway, Alex and I are behaving..

Yeah, Sandy for passing up on all that food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good girl.

Okay..I think Dawn gets her numbers from the RDA for protein from the government. Some sites think this is a minimal number, but not for optimum health..even if you are sedentary. Barry says that most women should consume between 70-90 grams a day of protein. The RDA is around 50 for adult women. I do believe this is low from what I have read. Of course, you have to understand that the RDA also wants you eat tons
of carbs, also. Maybe if you eat tons of carbs, you don't need as much protein, I don't know..I do think Barry has the right idea, though..And, if you are very muscular, you can have more protein..like men or big muscled women..(LOL)

Morning!

I'd be eating 44.28 grams of protein - what's that, like 2 eggs!?!

Sandy!!!
Awesome!!!!!

Sandy - I saw some men in the theater. It's a chick flick - but not a girly movie. Nothing light and fluffy about it!

DS16 is off today, but I have a PEO meeting to prepare for . . . .
It's still a wonderful day, so I'll walk in a bit.

Whew, thanks Carolyn. I can handle the 70-90 grams but 50!!! I used to regularly eat over 100 so 70-90 seems like a sacrifice, lol.

My dad got home and today wants to take me to lunch. Now my will power test starts. He's always wanting to feed me. I'm just going to suggest going to places where I can get breakfast anytime, lol. That's always a safe meal for me.

Good Morning Friends. Well, I feel better this morning after a pretty good nights sleep, I could not stay awake last evening, so went to bed early, but then spent a couple of hours in the middle of the night tossing and turning.
Didn't mean to worry everyone about the amount of protein, as I said, I was just repeating something I had read. Thanks Carolyn, for making sense of it. I knew somewhere Barry had written something that made us both aware that lots of people were probably eating way to much protein but yes, for a small person, times .36 is way low.
Prozak, that is so funny the baby is talking and saying the same things over and over, how cute. My 5 month old DGS was just squealing in the background yesterday when DD and I were talking on the phone. I asked her what he was laughing at and she said he was in his exersaucer and looking at one of the toys and just laughing away . He is getting so fun now.
Went to the baby shower yesterday and it was huge, this mother to be got so much stuff I have no idea where she will even put it all. She got 5 of the item I got her!!! Many multiples of things she has put on her registry. Her husband comes from a large family.
Wow MK, 7 miles! The walking really helps to shape up your body and legs/hips, etc. Bet you are looking hot!
Sounds like everyone did good with their eating over the weekend. I did too but had ham at the shower yesterday and quite a bit as that was about the only thing there I could eat and I am up 3 lbs this morning, not to worry, it was salty and I know it is water weight.
Have the usual Monday laundry and office work today.

Hi All

I haven't done a weigh-in yet. TOM has been fairly horrible this month (as opposed to the regular level of horrible I usually have). I was over a week late with symptoms and spotting the whole time. Today I am bloated as all get out. I should be done by Tues or Wednesday, but I am NOT getting on that scale until then. I am in a bad enough mood as it is

I think I have photos of me and hubby on the camera. It got passed around a lot on Saturday night. I just need to charge to batteries and then I will post pics

Congratulations to all the losers! Hopefully, we can all continue to be "BIG LOSERS".

Love the picture of that little "Devil". Talk about cute; that's cute.

Anyone tried the baked green beans which seems to be a hit on the ML? I tried some last night and really liked them. I think they are going to be one of my new favorites.

I've got to continue to concentrate on getting my fats up. I just cannot lose my lean meat mentality. I still don't understand how protein can cause a weight problem unless someone just really exceeded their calorie requirements. How do I convince myself its better to eat fat??

Eating more protein than your body requires will have your liver convert it to glucose anyway.

So eating less carbs and more protein is kind of a give and take trade off thing. If you are eating SOME carbs you do not need the extra protein, if you are eating ZERO carbs you will require a bit more protein for the few cells that require glucose. If you are eating lots of both or one or the other then you will have blood sugar spikes and viola! stored fat.

PS: thanks for the devil comment

Hi, all!

This is what I've been doing with the Egg/Protein fast. Eating fat and getting thin. I've lost about 9lbs. and feel really good. I'm thinking there is more to eating fat than meets the eye and just started reading the EFGT book.

I look forward to reading!

Thanks!

Really nothing to it. A bag of frozen whole green beans, coated with about a tablespoon of olive oil and salted.
Put in oven at about 350 degrees for about an hour. They become crispy. They are good dipped in lowcarb catsup. Makes you not miss french fries so bad.

Thanks for the protein comments Prozak.

Hi guys..

I was up slightly today..Maybe it was all that salt I had over the weekend..So, I've been really good today.

Sandy: That is a great idea about ordering eggs for lunch..I love a good omelette and with bacon/sausage..It fills you up all day!

Ann: Did the beans get brown? I think I tried some once and they were quite brown..kinda burnt. However, it does sound like a very good idea..

Lora: Congratulations for you on the 9 pound loss..That is great!!!

Zilla: You poor thing..Are you approaching peri-menopause? When your body has a life of its own? Don't weigh in until everything is back to normal..

Prozak: Great points on the carbs/protein amounts.

Buffy: I'm going to a baby shower this weekend...Hopefully there won't be duplicates. I think I will get an outfit for him from our local baby shop.

MKay: Now..the ML isn't that scarey..

Did 40 of Curves and a 2 mile walk..I will do the Wii Fit later on..
