I need to figure out how to plan my menu. I don't have the book and don't have the money til after the holidays due to the wonderful car repairs and having to get Christmas together. I don't think I'm going to be able to do the Flat Belly Diet, it's too restrictive for me. I liked the idea of the MUFA's but the diet itself is pretty restrictive.

Can you guys give me an idea of what you all eat. You probably have your favorite meals already, right? I need ideas for lunch, I work in a daycare and have to have something that the kids won't go crazy and want mine and not what the cook makes for them. Most of the veggies they have at work are pretty high carb. Other than the green beans, there aren't any that I could have. I do love Karen's carrots though, but those are probably on the higher end of the carb veggies???? One of the girls on the shorties thread (rah rah, right MK) and I have been talking about SB, I dont really know which way I want to go, you're right, MK, sticking to something for just a month would help A LOT but it's figuring out what diet fits my lifestyle. I can adjust accordingly, but I don't want to be a slave to my diet, I want to be friends with it. Make sense?

I will check back later, if not later, tomorrow. Nite girls.

I would make a big salad with some cheese and pieces of turkey. Either blue cheese or oil and vinegar dressing. They will run from it

Morning!

Don't know why I'm up so early - must have been the wine last night - or the tacos - we'll say it was the tacos.

I finished my book, you can now walk in the exercise room, I watched the first Librarian movie, went to church, ate dinner and read a magazine. It was a pretty busy evening!

Now I need coffee - after glass of water #3.

How much did you have, MK????. Usually ppl don't get up at all when they've drank the liter that you did.

Going to Kohls with Kim and Alyssa and then to WalMart. Alyssa LOVES WalMart cuz she knows that afterwards we're going to go through McDonalds drive through to get a diet coke (no ice!!!!) and then drive through Frisches parking lot to let her see the Big Boy statue beside the door. She can't figure out where his coat is. She said, "brrrr" and made the sign for it last night and she was right, it was cold as hell out.

On that note, why do ppl say "cold as hell?" I don't think I've ever heard hell referred to as COLD!!!!

Hello everyone and welcome to Kelly!
Well, I got hit with a killer flu, I guess that is what it is. Went strong on Friday, we went out to eat Friday night, all was well. I woke up at 5:00 am on Sat. and ran to the bathroom, was very very lightheaded and dizzy. Didn't quite make it back to bed before I literally passed clear out and hit the floor. My DH asked "what happened" as I came to and was laying on the floor by the bed. I said I guess I passed out. Crawled into bed, the room was spinning. Then off to wobble to the bathroom again and this time, I guess I passed out on the toilet seat or just as I tried to get up, anyway, came to again on the floor in there with a goose egg sized bump on my forehead. DH wanted to get me up and in bed but I just could not stand the thought of even moving, I was sooooo sick and dizzy. Laid on the cold tile floor for about an hour before I could even think about crawling towards the bed where he helped me back in. Was very ill yesterday from the dizziness but no more bathroom issues, just felt sooo sick. Not over it today but can get up and around as long as I move slowly. The only thing I can think about eating are soup, oatmeal and toast and luckily, they haven't raised my BS too high.
I have been so sick many times that I felt like I just had to get down on the floor but I have never completely passed out before. Scary when you think where all that could happen to you.
BBL, just had to tell my sad tale

Whoa, Buffy. That sounds exactly what happened to John about 2 weeks ago. I heard a thud in the bathroom in the middle of the night, I thought he'd just thrown something on the floor (this was at 3 a.m.) then I thought, "what would he be throwing on the floor at 3 a.m.?" So I got up and he was wedged between the toilet and the wall and his glasses had fallen off and was tucked inside of his elbows. Without his glasses he's blind as a bat, I mean BLIND!!!! I bet his guardian angel was exhaused as heck from holding him up so they didn't get broken by the time I got there. I hope that you feel better real soon.

Okay, so you all may kick me off the thread, but I hope that you don't. I've decided to give South Beach a try. For 30 days, for MK. LOL. I would still like to chat with you all, is it this thread that said they were going to have one for chatting and one for posting your food list. I don't think SB would be equivilant to what you're doing to post on the one for the food lists. But I don't want to lose track of you all because I like you all so much. Just let me know, okay? One thing I do know, I won't be able to do the Flat Belly Diet. The MUFA's are a good idea, but the diet itself is too restrictive, especially for the holidays.

Becky, please don't leave our chat thread. We like you too! I've heard tons of success stories about SB so good luck. I'll be watching your progress closely. I'm really starting to feel the need for regimentation but really do NOT want to do WW at this point. I still would like to make up a daily regimen for EFGT but I'm not sure how to go about it. I guess just make up a menu and figure the ratios and go from there. Whew, sounds like a lot of work, lol.

I've got my tree up!!!! But not decorated. I might do that later. DH is going to be out of town until Wed. evening. I'm a little worried about me. I'm embarassed to tell you all that in all my almost 59 years I've never spent an entire night alone. I'm a bit of a scaredy cat really. But for some reason, I'm feeling very confident that I can do it this time. And if I can't, my DD lives very close. And so does my dad. But I'm really going to try to wing it alone. You all can say a prayer for me if you'd like.

Hi guys...

Heading upstairs to mash my taters for the church dinner. No tasting either..

Buffy: Let me tell you....I had this 4 times last year..So sorry about your bump. Just eat what you have to to survive and don't get dehydrated, girl.

Becky: We don't care what plan you are on... We are glad you are here.

Sandy: Gosh, you are going to be home alone..(Don't watch that movie, K?). Bailey can be your watchdog. Will pray for you..I guess I'm so used to being home alone, it's no biggie for me, but I can understand how you feel..

Zilla: Your salad sounds nommie, nommie.

MaryKay: I'm betting it was the wine. When I used to drink red wine at night, I couldn't even get to sleep...

Off to mash.

No SB doesn't jive well with EFGT. I am NOT a fan of South Beach because it is based on the premise that saturated fat is bad for you. Since that core assumption to the plan in wrong, it sets you up for health issues as far as I am concerned. Even the creator of South Beach has had to back-peddle on his stance that saturated fat makes you have heart attacks.

I do have to admit that SB is better than what most people eat on a daily basis...LOL

Becky, don't leave, even if you do give SB a try. We don't all follow EFGT to a T but that isn't what matters, we have become a close little group here and you are part of it. And please, do let us know hot it is working for you. I follow my own LC WOE based on what I have learned from EFGT and several other plans, you do what you need to do to make it work for you.
Oh Carolyn, 4 times, this stuff is bad. I am doing better but oh, the dizziness!!
Sandy, wow, that is really hard to believe you have never spent a night alone , DO NOT watch or read a scary movie

Back to my recliner to watch more tv, even reading a book or being at the computer makes me a little dizzy

DH is making pancakes and sausage for dinner - I'll have the sausage and make some eggs!

Becky - of course you're not leaving us! But haven't you already tried SB?

Buffy - Yikes! I'm glad you're OK!!

Sandy - You'll be fine, just relax and enjoy - and yeah - no scary stuff!

Zilla - I just picked up the 2nd Librarian movie from the library!

Carolyn - Thanks for being such a good cheerleader!

MK, I have tried SB but not with my whole soul. I have done it haphazzardly, but I want to give it a try again. I'm going to try it for the month of December, that will be a month and then if I like it, I will stick with it but if I don't, then all I've lost is one month. Cindy said not to have anything off plan for Thanksgiving, so I'm going to look around and see what I can do. She suggested a large salad with the turkey and while I was pm'ing her back, I thought that I may make a large salad in my pretty punch bowl and take a salad along for everyone that way no one will think anything of it if I eat more salad than they are. I'm going to give it a shot, though. Cindy swears by it, so I'm going to see what I can do with it.

Thanks for letting me stay with you guys. Some of you I know from other threads so I can keep in touch with them, but then, some of you I met through EFGT, and I really like you all.

I'm going to be divorced by morning, I think. Just kidding. I had egg salad for brunch and now I'm having cabbage stew (chicken breast boiled along with canned chicken broth and lots of celery, then I take a head of cabbage and add to it. I don't think John is going to be happy with me before long. Hey, maybe this is just all blown up gas and NOT fat on my body. LMAO!!!!

Yes..inquiring minds want to know, too..What is a librarian movie? I don't do scarey either..

Becky: Just face the other way when you are in bed..

Zilla is our "fats" expert.. We lub you, Zilla.

Well, I survived the church supper. There was SF apple pie there..Hmmm..So, while the huge line for the main meal was forming, our "table" just went to the pie table and got a piece of pie and ate it while we were waiting for the food line to go down...I did have a piece of the apple pie (SF)..only a bottom crust..I am a weak person.

Morning everyone.
Feeling better today but you should see my black eye! Sat. I had the goose egg on my forehead, yesterday the edge of my eye was bruised and today I have a full shiner. Also have a bump on the back of my head where I fell in the bedroom but hit carpet there. Still don't know what I hit in the bathroom but it was out to get me
I am going to take it a little easy today, try to just pick up the house where we have just laid things down all weekend and do laundry and hope I am back to normal by tomorrow.
I had never heard of the Librarian movies either. I have watched several movies while sick, Made of Honor was cute.
Have a good Monday gals.

Oh my gosh Buffy! You poor thing. I hope your feeling better soon. If it makes you feel any better I had 2 black eyes at once myself. Ouch. If I were you I'd lay myself on the couch with a good book.

I'm sorry that most of you are freezing and I'll try not to brag too much about the lovely weather. I am however going to Chicago for Thanksgiving and it's been in the the teens so I'm packing so many clothes that I will probably have a hard time even walking.

I'll be meeting my SO's family for the first time. Yikes!

I've been running my dad all around today. Dr. first, then hospital for doppler test on his legs, then lunch, cemetery and Petco. He's having knee replacement Jan. 13. I know he's nervous but it was his idea so I know he's in a lot of pain. He already had one done so he knows what he's in for and I'm sure he's not looking forward to it at all.

Ashlandgirl, I have the hardcover and the paperback (I keep that in my purse) but I'll keep it in mind. Is it the ppk or the hardcover? My ppk is getting pretty ratty.

I had a pretty good day on SB today, I will see what the girls on the thread say. I posted it and we'll see if they think I need to tweak anything to make it right.

I probably will only be checking in every other day for a while, making a pair of knitted slippers for Alyssa for Christmas (stocking stuffer) and then making a baby afghan for a girlfriend at work. THEN I have to make one for DD's baby still baking. LOL.

rebecca: sorry, i guess I miss read one of your posts maybe it was the flat belly diet book that you were looking for and since you were talking about sb I thought you were looking for SB.

carolyn: my netrition order consisted of WPI 5000, WPI8000, resistant wheat starch, carbquik, carbalose, thick not sugar. Just things that I can't find around here. The bulk sweetners I have been able to order wholesale direct because I also have a catering business. It should be fun playing around with these ingredients as I love the whole chemistry aspect of baking LC. All in therory though as I have had no experience with it.

Good morning ladies.

Todays problem solver....the problem...CREAM.

I'm finally down to my last dribble or heavy cream. I had switched to it because I thought it would be better, less carbs and all, but I didn't read how many calories where in it until after I got it home! Ouch. I'm going back to half and half. Better to have 1 more carb per oz. than 60 plus calories! Especially when I'm struggling with my controlling my calories and my carbs are in line.

I always over estimate to be on the safe side and I usually have 2-3 coffee's in the a.m. and then sometimes at night for a "treat" I have hot tea with cream so I can be having as many as 4-5 servings a day....it's no wonder I'm in trouble with the calorie police (me).

So that is my next mini step to making this work for me...I'm off the cream!

I figure if I get rid of that I won't have to trim back much at all on the food to be where I need to be calorie wise.
