Putting EFGT to the test...need some advice

I posted in the main lobby that I've (gulp) volunteered to be part of a diet challenge of sorts with a coworker starting Monday, Nov. 3. Read about it here: OMG...I volunteered for a challenge at work and....

Over the weekend, I was cleaning out my desk and found an old food diary--the one I was keeping when I was at my lowest weight on LC, 80 pounds lower than I am today. Interestingly, my menus at that time looked a lot like EFGT to me, but I'm not that experienced with it to know for sure. (I have Barry's book, Natural Health & Weight Loss, but I haven't read it in detail--that's next on my agenda!).

So, for example, here was a typical day for me:

B -- custard (eggs, cream, davinci), bacon or sausage, tea or coffee w/cream
L -- 3-4 oz. burger on 2 rev rolls, mayo, tomato, pickle, green beans w/butter
Snack -- cheddar dipped in "honey" mustard (mayo/mustard/vinegar/splenda)
D -- egg drop soup w/sliced meat or poultry OR meat/poultry w/fat/skin, salad w/dressing or green veggie w/butter

Does that look OK to you? I think I'm going to use EFGT guidelines on this challenge, because I tend to stall on Atkins AND I want this to be a real contrast to what the other guy will eat (rabbit food, cereal and fake fat).

I'm getting excited about this, because I've got a chance to show my coworkers that LC eating really is healthy and helps you lose weight. I'm even getting blood work done this week to have as baseline and for comparison. The others are all die-hard WW or vegetarians, and they think I'm insane when it comes to food. Little do they realize that I've ballooned to the weight I'm at BECAUSE of eating what they eat!!!

My journal for the six-month journey will be here:
SHinOK...the six-month challenge

Will weigh and measure this weekend and start first thing Monday morning. I'm ready to roll!!!! And I'll have Halloween behind me!!

Thanks for your input...

Hi

How exciting that you are in a challenge..Now, calories do count, I'm afraid for some of us.
The key is to find out what works for you. You can start off with that menu and see what happens. Watch the protein at each meal..and spread it out during the whole day.

For example, if your "amount" is 70 grams, then divide it by 3 or 4 for a snack and eat that allotment at each meal, so you aren't eating a 6 ounces or so at one meal..You get the picture.

I wil be anxious to see how you do..Please post on our monthly thread, too...K?
