Thank you Sandy. I don't know if I will get much sleep tonight, I should be going to bed right now but I'm too worked up about the surgery tomorrow to sleep, so I figured I would just play around on the puter til i get tired. Thank God it's on a Friday, I will have the weekend to rest somewhat. Mom and my aunt are coming back here to my house tomorrow night, didn't want to saddle my 82.5 (haha, that's how she refers herself as) aunt with mom looped up with anethesia. So, I will bring them back here tomorrow night and take them home on Saturday. Mom wanted to go back to her home tomorrow night but after thinking about getting up the 4 outside steps into her house, she decided to come here (we have a ranch style home) for the evening. Plus, my aunt has been so generous to come and help out, I didn't want to "dump" mom on her. I got my aunt a $50 gift card to Barnes and Nobles today (she LOVES books) for helping Mom and being my shoulder and strength during this crisis. She said, "becky, you don't have to pay me to do this, she's my sister." I told her I wasn't paying her, it was a gift from John (DH), Kim (DD) and I as a thank you for helping and something that she can treat herself with when she goes back to Houston. That was okay with her. Gotta play those mind games with those elderly aunts. LOL. I would like to take Mom and my aunt to lunch (with Kim, and Alyssa maybe) before my aunt leaves on the 26th. They've been cooped up ever since my aunt got here (2 weeks ago on Saturday evening) and i know that they're both going stir crazy. Maybe we can go when Mom gets her stitches out next week or something. I will let them argue it out where they want to go, sibling rivery, you know.

Quick runby before bed.
Rebecca
Will send prayers for your mom's surgery tomorrow, sorry all of you have to go through this.

My cold had finally almost completely gone, then after going to the fair today I have a sore throat again

going to bed early to try to kill it with sleep and nyquil.

Buffy, I'm getting the sniffles. Been doing this for a couple of days. Don't know if it's Kim and Alyssa's that they had last week. I just hope that Mom doesn't get it.

I had a glass of wine for my birthday, a BIG glass, kind of a water goblet size. It was my birthday treat. Well, ONE of them. I haven't drank any wine since Jan 23 when I started noticing trouble with my sugar, except for some when John went to Canada. I told John the other day that I was either going to have some wine or some Pumpkin Beer for my birthday.

Nite girls. Thank you for the birthday greeting, Buffy.

Hi gang..

Wowo...a big Happy Birthday to you, Rebecca..and definitely prayers for your mom's surgery. I'm sure your mom is grateful for you and her sister taking care of her. I know that she will be very sore after surgery, so I'm sure she will take it easy. Keep us posted.

I had a chillout night of watching Tabatha the hairdresser taking on the Salon and Tim Gunn's Style Show.. Girl stuff..

Night everyone.

Good morning everyone. Just got up, having first cup of coffee and feeling bad, throat is really sore. I am fed up with this. Will see how I feel after being up awhile and maybe do some gargling with salt water, that helped last week.
Cute cake for Becky MK, and, sounds like you have a busy day too.

I love Tabatha. I really love those no-nonsense Brits!

Guess who visited me last night?

THE WOOSH FAIRY!!!!

Down another 4 lbs all of a sudden.

The only thing I can think of that I have done different is drift a little more towards my Tokelau Native Diet. It wasn't intentional, I just had a craving for chowder and made a big batch of my tropical seafood chowder. I have been eating that for lunch most of the week. I have also started eating peanut butter fudge made with coconut milk. So I am getting really close to the 70% of calories from coconut again.

Maybe the universe is trying to tell me that I really need to spend my life lying on a beach somewhere...

Zilla: WOWOWOWOWOWO..You do need to spend your life on the beach (with sunscreen, of course) and move over for the rest of us, too..Give me your peanut butter coconut oil
fudge recipe...PLEASE..I do think that Soup/Chowder is excellent for losing weight. You get lots of volume without eating bunches of meat..

Did my exercises, got an iced coffee..did a few errands..Gary will be home tomorrow, so
no cooking again tonight.

I am going to make a seafood lasagne when he comes home. I am using chicken breast for the noodles..ricotta, mozarella..spinach, and alfredo sauce..Crabmeat and shrimp.
I think I'll make a small one incase it doesn't taste that great.

I loved that show last night, I watched it too.

Wow, whoosh fairy visit, how sweet! Mine hasn't been a whoosh but steadily working down. I spent the morning switching summer clothes to the other closet, trying on some old and new things to make sure what I put in my regular closet fit now, and, was happy to put some things aside for a friend who is just a little larger than I. Some older favorite things I had saved fit again . I just need to get my shoe under bed containers out and switch out the shoes, then closet will be ready for the harsh TX winter . Now that I am not working, I shop so much more and I need more closet space . Fun getting into size 16 jeans, it has been quite awhile.

How bout we all get back into coconut and go live on a beach together

Hello everyone,

I am new to this message board. It is just difficult going it alone when no one thinks you are doing a good thing.

I like the sound of this eat fat and lose weight. Every time I try and mention it to my Dr He talks me out of it. But I feel better doing low carb.

What is the October Challenge? I think I am in even without knowing the rules.

yes, please share the PB CO fudge thingy. I made some choc candy up with the CO, it is very good.
After being up and drinking my coffee, and, the dayquil kicking in, I feel good. Need to get a lot done today though and DGS 8 is coming after his school conference today. He likes to just hang out at our house though and do his own thing so I still can get a lot done while he is here. Then we usually try to find a movie to watch before bed and have some snuggle time at bedtime so we can talk. He brings 3 of his webkinz each time and laughs and laughs when I make them talk. Silly old Mema.

Star and Lou. Our challenges are pretty relaxed, we all follow our own variation of Eat Fat Get Thin and mostly just visit as friends and talk about our struggles when we are having them or our joy when we see some progress. We post our weight at the beginning of each month, what it was the past month or more and what it is on the 1st of each month. No pressure, just good encouraging friendliness! Join in, I think you will enjoy it here.

I am following LC for my diabetes and do think the higher fat, reasonable amounts of protein are healthy. My sister though is afraid I am going to kill myself with the amount of fat I am eating so I can't wait for my next blood tests, I so hope they prove that I am doing the right thing. She is so stuck on the LF belief.

Star: Buffy is right..We are a very relaxed group of ladies who like to eat fat..and most of us are in love with Barry Groves.. The best thing you can do is to get his book Natural
Health and Weight Loss. You will have to google it and order it from Canada, but it is an excellent book and resource for lowcarb living and eating.

It is very true that lowcarbers are often lone ducks nowadays. Several years ago, tons of peeps were lowcarbing, but the "novelty" wore off for many, so that's why we all need support and each other..

Thank you for the Welcome Buffy,

I started August 1, 2008 with no sugar, flour or potatoes, which I know makes me feel bad. I try to keep my carb below 10 per meal. I feel the best when I have bacon and eggs for breakfast. I seem to feel good all day long no matter what happens during the day. I have been eating anything protein and the only carbs I eat are green.

August 1, 2008 196
September 1, 2008 187
October 1, 2008 184

I use Fitday and have been walking my poodle doodles every day. I injured my knee so I have not been riding my bike. I would like to get back to that as soon as possible.

I have just had coffee today. I need to go cook that bacon.

I would like to lose about 10 pounds a month. According to Fitday, that is not unrealistic.

Buffy,
I am not a diabetic but both of my parents were and both are gone. Mom at 55 and dad at 60. I am a product of the south. It is hard to believe that eating fat works as long as it is not carbs cooked in fat.

I don't have exact measurements for the peanut butter fudge yet. I am going to nail it down for a blog post, but here are the basics until I work out the details...

Natural peanut butter (no sugar added of course)
Cocoa Powder (again, unsweetened)
Coconut Milk (unsweetened)
Da Vinci Simple Syrup

Take about 1/4 cup of peanut butter and add 1/2 of a can of coconut milk. Use an electric hand blender and whip it together well. Add cocoa powder (about 1/4 cup) and Da Vinci syrup to taste and whip some more. It will be about the consistency of thick pudding at this point. Spread in a shallow dish and put in the refrigerator to set. The coconut oil in the coconut milk will stiffen, making it the consistency of fudge. If you would like, you can stick a few almonds in the fudge before it chills. Yummy!!!

You may have to make adjustments depending on the quality of the coconut milk you have available in your area. Some brands have a higher fat content and they will set up stiffer. Some have more water and will give you softer fudge. You can add coconut oil to the mix if you really want to stiffen it up.

You can also use this recipe to make a pudding by just using the whole can of coconut milk.

I like the texture on this better than the coconut bark texture. I also like the peanut butter flavor, so I make this way more than I make regular bark. It also doesn't melt as fast and isn't as messy to eat

Star: I started about where you started weight-wise and I have been basically around goal (5-8 pounds) since the summer of 2002. Vacations do me in. This is a lifestyle..longterm way of eating. I can never, ever go back to eating bad carbs or I will gain my weight back. Gosh, your parents were terribly young when they died. Good thing
you are on track. You will love the book.

Thanks, Zilla..Nommie..

Rats..I don't have any coconut milk, but I think I will try it with a bit of oil this time. The peanut butter will keep it from being "barky" and melted..I love peanut butter fudge..

Welcome Star,
You'll love it here. It's scary at first but you get used to it....and us.

I spent the day with Dad. We had a great time just shopping and running errands and then lunch. I had a salad and chicken tortilla soup at Boston Market w/o tortillas. Yummo.

We're going to a movie tonight. We had cheeseburgers at home for dinner mine sans bun. I did have 2 Mich Ultra Low Carb beers this afternoon with DH when he got home. But it's part of The Daily Plate for today and so far so good. So hope it doesn't bite me in the butt later.

Today I have had 8 slices of bacon about 11 am and then I just had a chef's salad with lots of meat and some cheese and ranch dressing about 6pm. When I have bacon in the morning I don't get hungry. I ate because it was time. If I forget to eat I get light headed. I may have a tablespoon of peanut butter before I go to bed.
