OMG! Barry Groves fans... he just emailed me and GUESS WHAT!!

He has a new BOOK COMING OUT!!

I emailed him to ask about NET carbs and told him I of course am a HUGE fan, and that there were several more here at LCF.

it wasn't more than a couple hours when he sent me this.. I CANNOT WAIT to see this book!!

Hi [my first name]

Thanks for writing. I wish there were more like you, lol. Congratulations and well done on the weight loss.

The carbs are net carbs; I don't count fibre. (Perhaps I should as even fibre can contain up to 2 calories per gram, but that is not a lot.)

I would like to visit lowcarbfriends.com more often. I have been very busy this last year with another book called Trick and Treat, which will be published -- guess when? Yes, the end of next month. Actually it has nothing to do with the American kids extortion with menaces game -- at least you get a choice with that. T&T, subtitled "how 'healthy eating' is making us ill", is about the corruption, fraud and misinformation we, on both sides of the Atlantic, are subjected to so that we are made ill and can be exploited for profit by drug companies, food manufacturers and the 'health industry' generally.

T&T is just over 500 pages - the biggest book my publisher has published so far and, she tells me, 'the most readable'. Clarissa Dickson Wright, a British TV food celebrity, has said of it: 'A great book that shatters so many of the nutritional fantasies and fads of the last twenty years. Read it and prolong your life.'

Anyway, now that this book is finished, I should have a little more time to look in on you all -- when I've caught up in the garden!

Best wishes

Barry

Ok, now you've got my curiosity up. What's the first book I should be reading by him? I'm always looking to learn new things about becoming healthy, not just thin.

I have heard of people having trouble finding it locally.. I had to wait 2 weeks from amazon.ca

Your bookstore should be able to order it if you would rather use them than amazon

when you pick it up, grab a package of sticky tabs and a highlighter (maybe 2 or 3 different colors too LOL)

Yeah! I can't wait to see the new book. Sounds like it will be similar in tone to GCBC.

This would be great! Barry has such a great style and appeals to so many who hate the textbook type books. GCBC was GREAT, but it would be tedious for many of my friends and family to get through, let alone understand it IYKWIM.

I am so excited

Barry's Plan, check out the EFGT other plans sticky thread:

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ot...acts-info.html

The great thing about the book is it just lays it all out, WHY we are fat and how what we are being to told to do to fix it is ALL WRONG.

Check out his website, there is a lot of good stuff there:

Online Nutritional Information and Nutritional Facts - Second Opinions, UK

My Brother is ONLY 35 and just had cataract surgery, has psoriases AND anklyosing spondylitis AND depression.

After years of him suffering I was happy to hear that my brother has now gone GLUTEN FREE. I had sent him the links a few months back and he finally bit the bullet and is giving it a go. He will be eating less carbs too... I should call him and see how he is doing. He never really had much of a weight problem, but neither did my sister who is also gluten intolerant. Neither of them were very health despite their size.

The basic rules for 'Eat Fat Get Thin' (the original UK title of the book) can be found here. It is in that thread only down a few posts:

LOL I do nowhere NEAR that many carbs, in fact I do about half of what YOU do.

it is not a diet laid out like Atkins with stages and ladders and such.. those are just guidelines.

The thing is, people are afraid of 'low carb', afraid of not getting their '5 servings of fruits and veggies' and '10 servings of whole grain' everyday. So many people think of 'low carb' to be an unhealthy way of eating, even a lot of low carbers think we need to have a lot of fruits and veggies and 'some' whole grains to maintain health.

The book merely blows the lid off of mainstream thinking.

I wish I had read it BEFORE I got pregnant.. I probably wouldn't have gained back my 50lbs (plus almost 30 more) because I thought that eating more carbs was a NECESSITY unless I was trying to lose weight.

This book is for the fat, the thin and the too thin... it is for everyone

Prozak
Which book would you recommend first to read, the Natural Health and Weight Loss or the Eat Fat Get thin, i know they probably are both worth reading, but which one would you read first? Next thing is hope i can find them, Barnes and Noble does not carry or cannot order it here in my area anyway.

I'm not Prozak..but I've been following Barry for years. Get the Natural Health one and you have to order from Canada. EFGT is hard to get and the Natural Health book is an updated version.. Enjoy!

I would get this one first! You can try the Biblio or Half websites - the former is where I got my copy, straight from Cornwall, England.

I'm so happy for Barry Groves - U.K.'s answer to Dr. Atkins.

Thanx so much for this book... I'm going to Borders today to see if they have his books there.. if not I'll purchase them on Amazon... the look-inside info I read on Amazon in his Natural Health & Weight Loss.. was amazing information.. and has given me even more incentive to continue my journey to a health life and healthy weight.

God Bless.
