Hi all!
Haven't caught up here yet, and probably won't get to it today, but I wanted to pop in and let you know we're ok. Soggy, but ok. <g> No flooding here in our little town, but helping out in CR makes for a messy and wet day. Jeff's putting in a lot of hours working to help get the hospital back up and running. His dept. (radiology) was a complete mess, but they hope to get the hospital back in operation in two weeks. We shall see how that goes. Meanwhile, south of us we have family in flood zones in Iowa and Illinois, and while we're sure their homes will be ok, they will be awfully close to the whole thing, and it'll be a major mess for all involved. This is just one of those challenging spring/summers. <g> Jeff worked at the hospital all day on Father's Day and came home a complete mess, but once he was home we had a roasted chicken and steamed baby carrots with butter, watched a movie, gave him a tee shirt he loved ("Ow! My Balls!" from the movie Idiocracy) and then had big bowls of fresh strawberries with homemade whipped cream, which was a wonderful treat. He felt like it was a great Father's Day despite the hard work cleaning poo/flood/muck slimed hospital floors and walls, so that was good. I'm happy to see that despite being stressed and so on I'm doing pretty well sticking to my LC path, and have been weighing in at 196 for the past two or three days, so there's a relief. Ok, gotta go. I'm taking some friends to get more bottled water and supplies. Hope you are all well, and I hope to get caught up with you all soon.

Hi everyone..
Lene: Wow..so glad you are okay. Poor Iowa..Floods are so darned messy and dirty..We still have condemned houses here in our little town from last year's icky flood. Every time we see water in the road, people panic! Yes, I agree with Zilla about SBeach. I'm better off avoiding the grains, etc..and having more fat. I'm addicted to grains.. Well, I'm making some fake tater tots tonight for dinner. Here is the recipe from the Board: So I just made Cleo's Cauli-Breadsticks and had cauliflower left over. I decided to try to make tater tots. Here is my recipe; 1 Cup Riced Cooked Cauliflower 1 Cup Mozzerella Cheese 1/2 Cup Crushed Pork Rinds 1 egg Garlic powder (honestly I put garlic in everything!) I mixed it all in a bowl and then formed balls by hand. I put the balls into hot evoo in a skillet and once browned turned them until all sides were brown. I sprinkled a little salt over top and served with LC Ketchup. DH and I loved it!! We will see how they turn out............. Brett is down to 191 this morning. I said that he had chips with us yesterday and he still lost..He mentioned that we only ate one basket. (Oh yeah). Too be young again.. Hugs all around......

Carolyn - great recipe!
Thanks! This is all I ate today and I'm stuffed! I also had 2 small bites of a blueberry pie, but I have no clue how to put it in Fitday, so I'm ignoring it. But I can't believe how full I am! Total: 814 Fat: 54 485 61% Carbs: 50 177 22% Protein: 34 136 17% The ratios are good, but my calories are really low . . . ![]() |

MaryKay: You know some days you get full faster than other days. Barry says to eat to your hunger. By the way, the tater tots were nommie, nommie. The recipe made 16..Brett thought they were "good" even though they don't have the "tater taste"..He had his first pork rind today..

Thanks for getting back to us on the very important TOT issue
![]() My GF has this amazing tater tot casserole recipe that might work great with the fake tots! Now I have to see if I can find it... Hummm.....can't find it. I did look up a few and some were lc friendly (with the fake tots that is) and some were not. I will have to do some 'asperimenting' ![]() |

MaryKay: Plain..bakenettes..He said that tasted like bacon. (sounds like that dog food commercial).
He is going to be 21 this Thursday and we are having the other engineering interns over for brats for lunch. I asked him what other foods he wanted to go with it. He reminded me that the other guys aren't "lowcarbing" (LOLOL). But, I can make a lowcarb dirt pudding with a lowcarb brownie/sf pudding/whipped cream for dessert. Zilla: There is a really good tater tot recipe that I printed out under the tater tot thread. Cooked hamburger/can of cream of chicken soup/1/2 can of water..Cook in a casserole until hot. Then add your fried tater tots on top sprinkled with shredded cheddar cheese and heat for 10 minutes. But, ask your GF for her version of the casserole. Good morning everyone - coffee's brewin' - smells so good!
Lene, so glad you're ok. What a terrible ordeal for all of you in Iowa. Praying that everyone is safe and can get back to their homes. I've never experienced a flood, so I can only imagine what it must be like. And I know that's no where near what it is really like! ![]() Gosh, MK, you were up sooooo late! How do you do that?! I'm crashed around 10 every night and sometimes I could go to bed even before that! We do get up at 5 everyday, but still, midnight - yikes! I was down 1 this morning and considering I blew it on Sunday, I'll take it! I think hopping on the nordic track each day has helped considerably, although I can't do it for long. It's really hard. But I try to increase at least 1 minute each day. Not much going on today. Will try to clean my downstairs - I have the windows open and it's put me in the mood to clean! ![]()

Carolyn, that sounds a lot like her recipe, but I will have her email it when she gets a chance.
TOM has hit again. At 215 today. Monthly bloat is SO much fun. I need to check but I don't think it has been 28 days since my LAST one. Sheesh!! Stupid hormones! I have seriously cut down my carbs over the last 3 days. I can maintain eating up to 50, but I am sure as hell not losing. Doing the mini-meals and that seems to be going well now that I am adjusting. Got serious keto breath today, so after my hormonal derangement I should see that scale moving in the right direction again. (Either that or I start breaking things!)

Another thing I have learned; when eating eggs, according to the Eades'; be sure the yolk is not broken, ie, don't scramble but boil, fry with yolk in tact, etc. They say if you do break the yolk, you will not get the full benefit of the Omega 3's in them. I'm taking this book very seriously but trying to continue to eat on the EFGT format other than raising my proteins some. I would like to say, I am beginning to feel better. Tuscan Girl, those percentages look good. It is amazing how little we can eat if we keep the fats up. Often I find myself hungry even but just don't want anything to eat. Since uping my calories some, the scale moved another 1.5 pounds. Last week I didn't loose an ounce. ![]() Congratulations to all the losers ![]() ![]() Hi to everyone else and KUTGW! Ann |

Mom2pdm, Are you using FitDay or something similar to track it? The fat looks high enough but it would be way too much food for me. I know, we often hear calories don't count but somewhere deep down I know they do. They even count when one is doing the Fat Fast which as you probably know, is practically all fat.
Wish I could help more. Ann |

And I give up - where's the "flylady" thread? Scrubbed my laundry room floor and the kitchen floor, but can't do the breakfast room - can't move the table, so will have to wait for dh to help me. It looks nice, though. I have wood plank flooring and bought this stuff called Hopes Floor Revive. It puts down a polymer coating that's supposed to be like resealing it. It has a nice silky glow - not a high shine. I'm going to use it in my Florida room, which has a tile floor. Wore me out so now I'm ready for some cinnamon coffee! ![]() |

Hi everyone..
Jovi: Since you are switching from WWers..I do have a few pointers. I do think you have too much cheese on your menu. Lowcarb wraps aren't really a good idea until you are very close to goal. Our carbs should come from veggies mainly..and a dash of fruit. And, of course, some dairy. The carbs/proteins look okay..but I do think you are eating too much fat. If you are just starting on this, I would "watch the cheese, the coconut bark (sometimes AS's stall some peeps), and ditch the low carb wrap. I do think your calories on the menu you posted were quite high. And, calories do count..They don't count as much as they do like on WWer's, but they do count.Your fat intake should be 60-65 percent, or 70 percent tops. For starters, I would keep it very simple with eggs/chicken/beef/good veggies/some dairy/olive oil type dressings/a bit of cheese and cream. This is just my opinion..If you were losing, then I would say that you have found your "plan"..but you will have to tweak it a bit. Zilla: I agree that 50 carbs is on the "high" side, especially when we are eating a good amount of fat. I know you are good at tweaking and paying attention to what you eat. Shon: Yup, I need to scrub my floor, too. Your floor sounds lovely........ ![]() Hi Ann and Mary Kay and Lil and Poot and Lily..and any one I might have forgotten with my little brain. I am going to try the Tater Tot casserole tonight. I have to make some more tater tots this afternoon. I saved my grease from yesterday's tater tots..Hope it works okay... |
