eat fat get thin people - sample menus???

Hi,

I'm hoping THIS will work for me. I've been eating too much protein I think. Have gained so far on Atkins induction as a result, though carbs under 20, calories under 1700. Will this work????? I've been trying a year and a half to get the last 10 off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(after 2 wks on induction i'm down 2 lbs but now i have a double chin that wasn't there before and i was really bloated day of first weigh-in...)

My big problem is that a small beef patty with cheese has NEVER filled me up in my life.....

Neither has a handful of nuts or a half cup cottage cheese, or a beef and cheese stick.

So: I'm giving y'all a sample menu of what I plan to eat tomorrow. I know I'm going to be hungry, but I'm willing to give this a try since nothing else is working. Can any of you also give me a sample menu of yours? I want to see what I'm thinking higher fat levels are is correct/ balanced and compare with how much YOU all eat and still stay reasonably full (i.e. you can sleep at night).

Okay, here's mine:

Morning: egg and chicken salad with mayo, 1 cup

Lunch: chicken breast with ranch, salad with dressing

Dinner: hamburger patty with cheese, broccoli with cheese

Snack: egg and chicken salad with mayo, 1 cup

Snack: baked eggs (3) with broccoli baked in, with ranch

What do you think???????

Mollie
ps. how can you be full on these amounts?????

Mollie: If you are losing on this, great!!! I cannot take in that much protein myself, but maybe you are able to do this..

Do you have the book? Natural Health and Weight Loss..Dr. Barry Grove's new book? It's great.

Eat lots of good lcarb veggies..Honestly, they DO fill you up because of the fiber..We are looking forward to having you part of our little group..

I will definitely get that book too. I do have the Eat Fat Get Thin book, and I know I don't have the definitive results yet, but I just have a strong suspicion that this is finally my answer. I have been so ignorant...

Hi All,
Guess what came in the mail yesterday? Yep! The gook EFGT that had an arrival date of Oct 14. I started reading it last night. So far it is just more of what I am already doing.
Funny me. I lost the message board website. I had saved it as a homepage tab but I didn’t put it in my favorites. I accidently deleted the homepage tab and lost you guys. I did a low carb search and it didn’t come up. After 2 days, I did a message board low carb search and it popped up at the top of the list.
Hope everyone is doing well. I will have time to read some back post today.

Boon:

Yes overeating protein is not good for you or your body. When we low carb, we should be getting our energy from the fat in our diets and the fat from our bodies.

portion control

Dear all,

I have posted the message below in my eagerness in the wrong discussion - will cut and post this to the appropriate thread;

I'm new to this site. I have been doing EFGT for four weeks. The first two weeks I lost 3 pounds. I didn't feel hungry and was delighted.

Then I slipped a little during a stressful period , still not that hungry so super good during the day but a stressful time and I started to go a little mad with the double cream with fruit in the evenings. My 3 pounds returned with a vengeqnce. The business of unlimited quantities is misleading ...I think the diet will work for me provided I am wise about portion control.

Cheese is another weakness - indeed dairy is the problem.

How do you ladies self-regulate in this area? Any tips for not going wild with the permitted foods. I do want this to work.

many thanks!

Kapri

Kapri, I have the same problem! I love Julian Bakeries 1 carb bread. Problem, I don't stop at 1 peice. I have easily eaten 5 slices in a sitting! Did that today, finishing off a loaf which is good because I'm not buying it again. You are going to have trigger foods and whether they are legal or not, they will lead to weight gain. I have just discovered i can't do grains. Leads to binging. Must not have them in the house. Also use ******.com. You really have to watch portions. This isn't a free for all and calories do count. ****** is also great because it will give you fat/protein/carb percentages along with calories.

thank you

Cindy, I will check out that site. I am fairly sensiitive to dairy!!!

I'll report back. I guess it makes sense that the body cannot simply process untold amounts of any food.

This site will be most helpful,

Kapri

fit day findings

I've been away on a brief vacation and out of internet access.

Today, I worked out retrospectively using the ****** site that I should be eating 51-75g of protein a day

Today it was

65% fat 134g
18% protein 80g (should eat less cheese I think and emphasise coconut oil)
17% carbs 84g (overate strawberries for desert - 250 grams in all argh I love fruit)

But I'm close to being on track and will cut back on fruit. I will have acess to ****** and practice will make perfect.

Kapri

(and the percentages (to remind myself) SHOULD BE:
60-70 percent fat..
20-25 percent protein
10-15 percent carbs)

You mustn't eat that bread. It contains soy and soy is very bad for you.

Quote from Natural Health and Weight Loss pg 49:

"Modern soya products contain antinutrients and toxins that not only reduce the absorption of vitamins and minerals, but they also have other adverse effects including reduction in thyroid activity, which affect our metabolism."

Some people believe that consuming more fat will make them fat. But that is not fully correct. Fats are of two types: essential and non-essential. Consuming non-essential fats, will make fat. Body needs essential fats.
