Good morning,
I wish I had a few more brisket leftovers but we have plenty of ham. I don't love ham but it'll do in a pinch and DH is enjoying it. I was up a little today but I'm going to gulp the water today and flush it out!

Off to work this a.m. See ya later!

Morning all...

I got 156.0 the first time I got on the scale and then I got 139.5 - 5 times in a row ( I wish!) I may have to drag out my old fashioned dial one tomorrow or change the batteries in this one. But 156.0 seems about right.

Once again the weekend thread was my saviour! Had a wonderful easter too.

Sandy, I hope your Mom feels better soon!

Carolyn...great job on resisting those chips!

Lets make it a great week ladies

Hi ladies.

Sandy: Ham does me in...with all that salt..So I DO try to avoid it when possible..Glad the "brisket" was gone..That's good news!!

Summer: Wow..what a great scale..Unfortunately, mine is too accurate..You
know..I looked at those chips and thought of you guys and the committment I had made, "I am a Chipaholic"..but I wasn't even tempted..LOLOL.

Debbie: Yes, thank you, Easter was good..

Well, kids I got on the scale and I was 138.8!!! It's a miracle...So, I'm hoping to pop down to 138.0 and stay there this week..

You know..my sinlaw was sharing an article on MSN about portion size and hunger..It was entitled "How Thin People Eat"..You can find it if you are interested..

Several of things they do is IGNORE hunger pains..I never THOUGHT of doing that..LOLOL..and let it pass and eat when you are supposed to..

Another thing they do is they don't stuff themselves..Eat small portions.

Kinda basic stuff..

So I drug out my dial scale and I weighed 153 on it! In the middle of the day after several cups of water and coffee...the last time I compared my 2 scales they were identical.

Pretty excited for tomorrows weigh in now.

OK guys, I tried to find EFGT book, have ordered his new one, not to come in until May, can you just tell me if I am on the right track here?

I weigh 145 right now. I should aim for 60-80 grmas protein? How much fat? a % of daily calories? How many carbs? I am still breastfeeding so dont want to go too low, is @ 60 cabrs per day okay? I try ot get them from veggies, an apple, NOT from breads and NO processed sugar. Is this okay? Please advise!

My husband is going to do this with me, what would his protein requirements be? I assume they are higher for a man...

Carolyn, Yes, thanks, water...I have been struggling to get the water in lately...Used to be when I ran in the early am it was so easy, I would have had 30-40 oz by 10 am! When baby starts sleeping through the night I hope to once again become an early morning exercise, I actually grew to LOVE that time, it was "me time".

Thanks for the Welcome Guys, I am so psyched!

LilMiss: Sounds absolutely perfect..your plan..Dr. Barry recommends 60 to 70 percent of your calories be from fat..Now, that can be fat in your hamburger, dairy, whatever, NOT just fat you add..It is important to use www.fitday.com
for a while until you get the hang of it.

Now for your dh: He should probably take in around 100 grams of protein..unless he is a really tall, muscular guy. The formula is .6 times his lean body weight..It really depends on how much he weighs NOW and how tall he is..

Barry doesn't do grains..or sugars, basically..At least to start out with. He likes LOTS of veggies and a touch of fruit..60 is a good number for carbs..But I don't think they subtract fiber..so that would make a difference.

HTH..Carolyn

Barry will answer emails, too..But we are happy to help you anytime..

Thanks Carolyn! I am in fact a fitday junkie! So I should be able to do this! I am thinking that I may just need to tweak what I was doing by lowering protein. These first few days I am gonna keep up with fitday, eating my hard boiled eggs leftover from Easter, make some egg salad, deviled eggs etc.

hello. in one of barry's previous posts he did state that he eats some sort of whole grain bread. but of course he's been at this for years and maintains a good weight. i made a netrition order today and ordered some nutiva coconut oil. i have used the type you cook with but am ready to use the raw..i need lots of input so i can consume in everyday w/o forgetting. i love steamed vegies naked and don't know if i'll be able to get into putting oil on them. i couldn't get into buttering them so.....please tell me ALL your ideas. also, i'm wondering what's the latest buzz on flax seed. i stopped using it because i thought i might be building a sensitivity....i used several T's each day, organic and freshly ground. i usually ask myself if i could eat it in the wild. but i do use stuff that i normally couldn't like coffee, cheese, etc. what's barry said about it? hope all are doing well.

Lil: Sounds like a plan..Good luck.

Jem: Yes, Barry did say have a piece of bread (if you must)..but, like you said, he has been doing this for many years, so he knows his body and how it reacts to this.

Barry likes olive oil, coconut oil, flaxseed meal..(I didn't realize that people have trouble with it)..hmmm..

You can sautee your veggies in olive oil..or just drizzle it on top to up your fats..Salads can be vinegar and olive oil, too..

Another way Barry gets his fat in is by eating fatty meats..bacon, beef, pork, etc..

Fat DOES add up!!

Hi all,
Crazy day! I had to take my mom to the hospital after work. They admitted her with pneumonia again. Hopefully the IV antibiotics will work quickly. Food wise I've been doing ok. But now I have a headache and a backache. Probably stress. I hope so b/c I sure can't get sick now. My dad doesn't drive at all so I'm his transportation while Mom's sick. Any and all prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Take care,
Sandy

Breastfeeding requires lots of extra calories, and I'd use protein and fat to get them. I think 60 gms protein is way low unless your baby eats solids well and nurses infrequently.

Hi Sandra, Yes, Baby is 11 months now and has been very interested and eating solids for a while now. He nurses a few times a day but gets most of his calories from solids by now...

Still, I will watch and make sure I am producing enough, thanks!

Sandy- Ah, so sorry to hear about your Mom! Good luck, hope you arent too horribly stressed! Hopefully she will make a quick recovery!

Hi All

So today is my big start day! WHY am I nervous? Seriously, I feel nervous!

B 2 HB eggs, 1 T mayo, 1 t mustard
S- 1/2 apple, 1 T sfpb
L 2 HB eggs, 1 T mayo, 1t mustard
S 1/2 apple, 1 oz cheese
D 4 oz steak, asparagus, 2 T blue cheese, 2 c lettuce, 1 wedge tomato

64 oz water

Scale WAY up today. I earned it. Was 151.5 havent seen that since January! I earned it. But it's do or die time. I have no more company coming, no more birthday parties to navigate, no more excuses!

I would love to see the 130's by swimsuit season....

I saw this on a random site:

Hunter Tylo (actress) swears by virgin coconut oil as an all-around beauty treatment. "It's an excellent skin conditioner, hair conditioner.... It has all kind of benefits," praises the actress, who suggests looking for cold-pressed oil at a health food store.

So now we can eat it and use it everywhere![/COLOR]

Morning my EFGT girls!

152 on the scale this morning, I was more than a little excited . I simply cannot believe how wonderful of an eating plan this is, I have not felt deprived one single day.

I decided to get rid of all my bigger sized jeans and shorts yesterday now that I am fitting(barely, but I am there) into the size smaller. I dropped all the bigger clothes at Goodwill and then went to Old Navy and had some fun!!

Now the measurements going down, that is a great feeling and ...
The scale showing lower numbers is a wonderful feeling, but...

Fitting into clothes that are a smaller size has got to be the best feeling in the world...when you can see all of your hardwork paynig off, that my friends makes for a great day!

In a rush this morning, but wanted to give Sandy a hug for her Mom...take care of yourself too!!

Hi ladies..

Summer: WOWOWOW..for you..new clothes always make you look thinner cuz they fit..

Attention: My new Barry book was just mailed. It was funny cuz they mailed it April 9th and the arrival date is supposed to be May 29th..Good grief..Is it walking???

Sandy: Hugs and prayers for you and your Mom..and your dad..It's tough when our parents get sick..and it takes them longer to recover because of their age..

Lilmiss: What I would say is to eat more veggies at lunch, too..A nice salad with those eggs would go nicely...and does fill you up, too..but otherwise, it looks okay..Well, sfpeanut butter is okay in moderation..but almond butter is a better LC choice..

MK: Coconut oil is great..However, one thought if someone has abrasions on their skin (pimples, too)..Use the cheap Wallie stuff because it is more refined and won't cause an infection..like raw coconut oil will. One gal had this problem a couple years ago..But the coconut oil is great stuff!!

Jem: Drizzling is good..

Morning everyone--

WTG Summergirl! It is a great feeling to be able to fit into smaller clothes. No more weight loss for me, but my abdomen especially is shrinking.

Carolyn -- maybe the book is being sent by pigeon. Wow - that's a long time.

Sandy -- hope your mom will get better soon. Take care.

LilMiss-- I'm with Carolyn - I would eat more veggies/salad.
