Well, first I'm going to my sister's for our annual girls long weekend. She's in Tulsa area.

Then to Estes Park for 10 days in Aug.

Then back to PV next Feb. for a week.

I haven't even left yet and I'm exhausted, lol.

Hey All!

Carolyn, it seems we have both taken so scary nutrional trips, lol. I'm sure we'll both bounce right back

Yeah Summer, I would just drink water... I eat too much salt, ut I am not salt sensitive... but this does give me something work on

MK, isn't avacado the best? I love making my "EFGT Mexican Chicken Salad"

2-3 TB canned chicken
1-2 TB Mayo
1/2 avacado
1 TB salsa
dollop of sour cream

good night all!!

it's yummy I spice it too

Lisa, I am always amazed at how low your cals seem to be, I think we all justhave different satiety levels.. I agree about fruit I can do berries but I max out at half of any other (apple, orange) it's those theories on food combining... veggies and fruits require different enzymes for digestion so the veggie one may agree with us while the fruit one does not

Sandy, it may stressful to plan vacations, but think of the relaxation you'll have ON your vacation

Afternoon everyone. I overslept and was pretty late for work. They don't care, but I had a bunch of stuff to do as soon as I got here!!

I was down another lb this morning. I had 1/2 bottle of wine last night too. I hope the loss isn't just dehydration! I'm feeling very satisfied with my food now. No hunger or cravings. And it's pre-TOM. So, apparently the extra fat calories and lower carbs is doing the trick. I'm still only eating 1400 - 1600 calories a day. I "should" be able to lose on that, but I never thought I could. Just needed to adjust those ratios I guess.

That salad does sound good Pink. I had an avocado omelette this morning - yumm. It was really good and super filling.

I cracked my coffee pot this morning and didn't realize it. It kept hissing and hissing and finally I thought to see why. It was slowing dripping out onto the hot plate. So, I gotta go get another one after work today. Can't do without my coffee cause that's how I get in my Coconut Oil.

Travel planning really is tiring. But now that I've got plane tickets and condo reservations, I just have shopping to look forward to. I can't wait!!

BBL -
Lisa

Hi..
[B]
Wow, MK ..congrats to your son getting into Carroll College..Where is that in WI? No..Coconut oil is not sweet..There are 2 kinds..one that has a coconutty taste..and one that is basically tasteless..I prefer the tasteless kind..myself..

I love avocados myself...but sometimes Wallie's aren't the greatest..so you have to be careful.. I have gotten some frozen guacamole that is pretty darned good..and would be yummy in that salad, Pink..with chicken, etc..

Sandy: Sounds like you have some fun times planned..The end of May, I'm going to Lawrence, KS for a girlfriend's weekend..The gals come down from Des Moines (where I used to live)..We love Lawrence!!! We went to Estes Park years ago..It is very lovely up there in the mountains..

Hi Lisa: Gosh...on your coffee pot..but they are easy to replace..Where do you work???

Like Carolyn said - the CO isn't sweet. I put the coconut tasting kind in my coffee with some Stevia for sweetness. Tastes pretty good!

Carolyn I work at a small CPA firm. It's a great place to work. I have a lot of down time since accounting is really seasonal. I've been pretty busy lately with tax season in full force, but I never have to work overtime. They also give great bonuses AND pay for my personal trainer. AND my house is only 8 minutes away!! We even get nice gift certificates and chocolate for Valentine's Day. Nice bosses!! I'm so grateful for this job. When we first moved to the Denver area I had to drive downtown - it was awful.

You know there are all kinds of ways to lose weight. Low fat works for some people. I'm just not sure how healthy it really is. Or what a person's bodyfat % ends up being after being lowfat for awhile. I'm just glad I know what works for ME - if I'll just stick with it now and stay away from sugar and bread!!

Carroll is in Waukesha WI - a suburb of Milwaukee.

I've noticed that about avocados everywhere! I like to buy them firm so I have a couple of days to let them sit on the counter and then a couple in the refrigerator. If they're soft when you buy them - ewwwww!

I love Lawrence too Carolyn. And I really love girls weekends! We've been to Estes Park too but it was about 7 years ago. It was a nice relaxing haven and that's what we're looking forward to. We rented a cabin right by a small waterfall on the Fall River. I'm really looking forward to sleeping in and just hanging out and taking it easy. You've got some fun trips coming up too, don't you?

I buy my avocados at Aldi for .69 each and they are great. All their produce is great. In fact all their stuff is great if you have one. And so cheap too. Love it!!

I had a pretty bad food day today. I've got to get it back to normal. Ha, I'm actually calling EFGT eating normal. I guess that means it really has become my WOL! WOOHOOOO!!

Have a great evening,

Hi everyone...i dont get as much time as i would like on the computer anymore so i wont be checking a whole lot but ill stop by when i can...its good to see everyone doing so well...i love this woe...im glad to be back on it...

i have been having my eggs with my 1T best foods mayo again for breakfast...i love that...the best foods mayo is the best...no carbs at all and helps to get the fat up a little...i get the one made with canola oil instead of vegetable...i know neither are really that good but the canola is a little better...i also have my coconut oil everyday...my problem is getting in my veggies...im not a huge veggie eater so i am trying to make myself eat some every night with dinner....i could live on salad it seems like...my hubby just cant believe that i dont get tired of it...i tell him its this woe...i can eat foods over and over again...i guess its just because my body isnt craving all of that bad stuff.

i loved being in the philippines...its really great there...the people are so wonderful...being there really opened my eyes about the way us americans eat...i can totally understand why we are fattest nation...we ate way to much...i guess we have always been taught to eat until we are full and that just carries on the rest of our lives...i know i was raised that way...its so nice to get to know your body so well that u dont have to do that anymore...i eat until im satisfied now that i know what and when that is...it was very hard in the beginning but now its a piece of cake...oops did i say cake...lol

well i guess im off to get my little one to bed...i was going to add a few pics of me at the beach with my friends but couldnt get them right...sometimes im very computer illiterate...lol

good night ladies!!!

Michelle - there's really no reason to feel guilty about how many fruits and vegetables you eat. Eat what you like and don't worry about it. Here's a piece of EFGT:

Quote:
Fruit and vegetables are recommended because of their anti-oxidant
properties – they stop unsaturated fatty acids from creating harmful free
radicals.
In 2002, scientists at the University of Helsinki studied the effects of
high and low intakes of vegetables, berries, and apples on oxidation in
subjects consuming diets high in linoleic or oleic acid, both of which are
subject to oxidation.1 What they found was that ‘there were no significant
differences between the diets’.
In 2003 the prestigious CARDIO2000 study published its results.2
This study was looking specifically at intakes of fruit and vegetables with
relation to heart disease. They found that fruit and vegetables did reduce
the risk of heart disease. But, significantly, it didn’t need five portions a
day for this effect. In their conclusions the researchers say ‘Consumption
of 2 or more servings per week is associated with about 70% reduction in
relative risk.’ There was no more benefit after that.
I suspect that the ‘servings per week’ is a misprint; that it should read
‘servings per day’. The Daily Mail reported this study and interviewed
Professor Sir Charles George, medical director of the British Heart
Foundation, about this obvious conflict with the ‘5-a-day’ guidelines.
Professor George stated that five portions had merely been an arbitrary
figure – and, by so doing, admitted that this was another example of
dietary advice without scientific backing.
So we don’t need to eat anything like 5 a day to derive benefits in
terms of heart disease. But is there a benefit in terms of other chronic
diseases such as cancer? This, too, was considered in another study,
published in 2004, of over 100,000 people. Conducted by the Harvard
School of Public Health, it showed that, ‘Increased fruit and vegetable
consumption was associated with a modest although not statistically
EAT FAT, GET THIN!
193
significant reduction in the development of major chronic disease.’
(Emphasis added). This tends to confirm the previous study, but it then
continued: ‘The benefits appeared to be primarily for cardiovascular
disease and not for cancer.’3 Their conclusions are: ‘Consumption of five
or more servings of fruits and vegetables has been recommended . . . but
the protective effect of fruit and vegetable intake may have been overstated.’
Not surprisingly, supporters of the ‘5-a-day’ campaign were outraged
by the findings, repeating their mantra that eating the recommended
number of fruit and vegetables has numerous health benefits.
I just eat what I like and because I like them. I think the types and amount of fat we eat is the most important thing!!

Have a great evening,
Sandy, it really IS normal!! At least, that's what Barry Groves believes.

Summer I hope you feel better!!

Carolyn I'm a football fan myself - have rarely even watched basketball!!

Pink you eat the most delicious sounding stuff!! You are really a gourmet cook!! And still so thin!!

MK how's the jiggly today??

I was down a tiny bit this morning - not enough to change yet but still I'm happy.

It's dark and dreary here today. But we're set to have an awesome weekend - in the 70s all weekend.

My daughter who is in Japan with her brother emailed and asked me to send her Claritin and hair color. I wonder if I could get in trouble for mailing that to her?? She's a mess.

Have a great day. I'll BBL.

Hi ladies..

Well, I was back down to 140 this morning..Honestly, it has taken me a week to recover from all those nachos..(Was there a lesson learned here???)

Lisa: I LOVE MELINDA and LaKisha..they are both terrific..Jordin is okay..but all the boys can go home..(and they will, I'm afraid)..Phil has a good voice, but I think he is too scarey to look at..and it detracts from his performance.

I agree on the veggies/fruit thing, too...2-3 a day is probably enough..And a salad could count for that 2 or 3 right there if it has lots of stuff in it..

Walked my 2 miles on the treadmill....then will do some cleaning..fun..

Hi everyone..

MK: it will happen but the wait is a bummer!

Carolyn , I'm glad you've recovered I'm sure you'll be scaling on down this week

Lisa, I saw you poking around that "PSMF" thread I was having really scary flashbacks as researched and had to back away from my computer!

Summer, I hope you start to feel better!

So I need to ask you all, do you always spreasd your protein out during the day? I have to be honest, today I had this VERY large bacon cheeseburger salad... I am talking 40 g protein, but I ate a lot less protein through out the day. How do you all handle this?

Thanks

Have a good one!

Pink: You are young..and might be able to handle all that protein at once, dear..40 grams of protein is 6 ounces of meat..but hamburger is so darned fatty that I doubt that you get all that protein in there..Let me check fitday..It's 6 ounces of COOKED meat..yup..

Sometimes I "doggie bag" the extra protein if it's convenient...

Hi everyone.

TGIF

I am among the living again, Thank goodness!

I lost a few more pounds because I could not eat much so I will be adding calories slowly over the weekend so i can try and keep as many of the pounds as I can.

I am proud of myself, even though I was sick all I have eaten in the past few days was all healthy and good for EFGT kind of foods, and plenty of water and herbal tea.

Another weekend to battle, bring it on...
I will eat good....
I will eat good...

Pink - that goodness you came to your senses!!

That PSMF (Protein Sparing Modified Fast) just does NOT sound like a healthy plan. It even says only for dangerously obese patients! I was looking at the thread cause I didn't know what it was either.

Summer so glad you're feeling better.

Hi Carolyn and MK!

Pink I sometimes eat a larger protein portion at one meal, and then I do compensate at another, but I still ALWAYS eat SOME protein with every meal or snack. It may be a little protein and a lot of fat, but still SOME. It doesn't seem to be a problem.

I'm down to 151 this morning. That averages 4 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks. Which I'm fine with but I know I coulda done alot better. Yesterday I was STARVING. I had my workout and I just was unbelievably hungry. I took your advice Carolyn and ate, but I ended up eating 2363 calories. OMG. 174 gr fat, 25 carbs, 107 gr protein. Well at least the percentages came out right!! For a snack last night I had pecans dipped in butter.
Okay, it was really good but the calories!!!

Hopefully I will NOT be hungry today after all that!

Gotta get a little work done - I'll BBL.
