Hi..
Yes, Kansas doesn't have many beaches like that, does it? I miss living in New England in the summer when we could hit the ocean only a hour away.. I was 140 this morning..stuck there..like glue..I'm trying to alternate my calories...lower one day, higher the next to see if that would work..I think our bodies get bored if we are eating the same thing/calories each day..don't you? I will defniitely still do the EFGT, but just alternate..and see what happens. There was an article in Woman's World about this plan, but the dr. recommended that you eat 1100 one day, then normally the next day..He said that that helps burn fat faster and shakes up our system.. Whatever..LOLOL |

Looking back on my eating I do eat varied amounts of calories. Never the same each day. I do think it's good to keep our body "wondering" what we're up to. That way it's working to stay on guard, lol.
Are you originally from New England? I've always wanted to visit there but we haven't yet. I finally did ! I broke down and ordered my mp3 player. Yikes! It was so expensive and I feel so guilty, but DH told me to get it, so I DID! Now, I hope I can figure it out???

This is a funny story how we met..Gary and I met in London (both on vacation)
30 years ago..I lived in Boston, he lived in DeKalb, IL. We dated by plane and got married 5/6/78!! In fact, we are going to Germany/London in May (with our kids) and going back to the pub where we met..LOLOOL..We haven't been back there...It's probably something else by now!! We won't move back to New England, cuz Gary is from KS..and work is here and our kids are in the Midwest. I love the Midwest alot..the peeps are great, but I miss the beauty of NE.. Anyway, we are taking Betty (minlaw..84) to Wichita today for her birthday tomorrow..We will stay at Gary's brother's house. Should be fun...NO CAKE FOR ME!! I was 139.4 this morning...the IRON CURTAIN!!! How are you guys all doing????? |

Have a good time Carolyn,
What a cool story about how you met. You were definitely meant to be together it sounds like. And what a fun trip that sounds like. Can I be a stowaway? Lol. My scale was very nice to me this a.m. !!!! 141.5 !!!! I haven't been that low since summer of 2005!! I sure hope it sticks. I worked today and then did my weight workout afterwards. It's such a beautiful day I think I'll take Bailey for a nice long walk. It sounds like the weather is about to change again so I better take advantage of it while I can. We're going to go see Catch and Release tonight and DGS14 has a birthday party tomorrow evening. I don't know what else we'll fit in there, but I'm sure we'll find something, lol. Have a great rest of the day everybody. |

Hi..
Just checking in from being in Wichita..I met Janie from our Golden Board for a chat at Panera's..We had a good time.. I wasn't very good..I did eat a few things I shouldn't have eaten, but there is always tomorrow...so we are back on track..Although there is a chili fundraiser at church, so I will eat my carbs at lunch..with some salad. How are you all doing? MK: DD23 is starting a new life..? What's she doing?? Fill us in.. Last edited by CarolynF; 01-27-2007 at 09:20 PM.. |

Morning!
Hi Carolyn! It sounds like you had a good time yesterday! Don't worry - you can EFGT tomorrow! ![]() DD23 has been going to grad school since September in a town about 40 miles away. She works here and has been living at home. Now she's going to move into the other town, look for a job there - though she'll keep this one 3 days a week for a while, and continue with grad school. It's a big move. Her first one out of the house that didn't include college! So - happy and sad for both of us!

MK,
I hear you on happy and sad at the same time but I think it's so important for children to actually "live" on their own before they end up in permanent relationships. I think it lets them discover who they really are. But the empty nest is a real bummer for us. But I got over it quickly the 2nd or 3rd time around, lol. They did seem to return a couple of times each for some reason or another. But it was never the same parent/child relationship when they did. Carolyn, I'm glad you had a good day yesterday. And you can always get right back on track. You're always so good about that too. I was off a little yesterday too. My DGS had his birthday dinner at Pizza Street. I did scrape off all the toppings but I caved and had a couple small pieces of the cheese bread and cinnamon sticks. Still was at 142 this a.m. so only up 1/2 pound. So far anyway. We're going to church late today and then I think we'll see a movie maybe. It's so cold here again, brrrrrrrr! I might just want to hibernate instead. DH is making a pot of beans. I'm not sure if I'm having them or not. I have LO chicken spiedini which is probably better for me than beans. |

Hi..
Yummmy Italian food.. Well, I think I probably ate all my carbs in one meal of the chili contest. There were some excellent chilis that the church folk made..So, I'm not eating tonight, but do have to make dh some flaxseed meal bread for his breakfast this week.. MKay: It's a happy time when our little birds fly the nest, I think. It shows that we have done our jobs as parents.. But, some do come back for a short while, I guess..to catch their breath!!Sandy: I am going to have to find out the name of your fav Italian restaurant..so when we head to KCity, we can go there.. Yes, it is cold today..but tomorrow is supposed to be 145.. Well, not too much damage was done on the weekend..Frankly, I was surprised. BUT, I didn't eat dinner last night, so that made a difference, I think. I'll start a new post tonight.. |

Now that's warm!! Be very careful and dress light, lol.
The restaurant: Garozzo's. There's one in Wichita too. One in Olathe, one in Overland Park, one in Lee's Summit and one in downtown Kansas City. All yummy! Well, I haven't been to the Wichita one but the rest, all yummo! I've been very icky feeling all day. Upset tummy so I've hardly eaten anything. I go from feeling starved to feeling very nauseous. I sure hope it's gone by morning. We watched Munich today. Very long but very interesting and sad. That's about all I've gotten accomplished today except for a couple loads of laundry. The never ending laundry. How do 2 people use so many clothes?? |

Just starting
Hey everyone I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
I am starting EFGT and although I've basically been eating these foods for a long time..I've been eating way!! too much. I have the book and have read through it a couple times now. Here's my questions (sorry if they've been asked a million times already) : I calculated how much protein I should have each day. 44g!! Which is next to nothing. I exercise almost everyday so should I maybe put that up to at least 50? The protein thing is really confusing. Like tonight I cooked a steak and judging how much protein I can have..its about 1/3 cup of steak or chicken or whatever per meal. And maybe 2 eggs for breakfast depending on the amount of protein the rest of the day. That just seems like so little? And since there are next to nothing by way of calories..that would mean adding a TON of fat to each meal just to get my cals close to 1000. Maybe I'm just making this more confusing then it is. I'm trying to also keep my calories between 1200-1300. Could you guys maybe post what you eat for a day..just to give an idea? Thanks so much! Elaine |
