This explains why I can't get into ketosis when I'm doing induction.
I figured I should be able to eat nothing but protein (keeping my carbs down below 15 grams a day - but the keto stix barely show a trace a few hours out of the day. Plus, I'm hungry at times. Not starving hungry, but hungry not like you are supposed to feel satisfied when in ketosis. The only times I start to show moderate is when I give up and cheat and eat an enormous salad with fatty dressing, croutons, and cheese and go over 20 grams of carbs. Oh, my. This makes perfect sense. I've been buying low fat EVERYTHING. Low fat meat, 1% low fat cottage cheese, string cheese. And eating only 2 eggs a day. On the way home, I'm going to buy a marbled steak or a rotisserie chicken and eat the skin. Do you count calories on this woe or just make sure that you don't overeat protein? |

Free: Most of us make sure we get enough fat and don't overeat on the protein and watch our carbs...We need to get our energy from the natural fat in meats, dairy and healthy oils..

My book should be here Monday. I hate worrying about ratios... but since I have upped my fat, my usual PMS symptoms are GONE... the most problematic one being hunger, and also bloat. Today's ratios:
1764 cals 62% fat 15% carb 22% protein The carb included 3 cups full fat yogurt plain, peanut flour, 1/2 orange, broccoli casserole, and okra gumbo. I am thinking of dropping the morning 1/2 orange to get the fat ratio higher.... |

DUH my ratios are high because of the yogurt. I've always gone by the 'yogurt exception' and its proven true for me... but that doesn't matter when it comes to Fitday ratios. I'm not going to stress about it.

OMG I was just coming here to post the same thing, not only did TOM sneak up on me this morning I was even MORE shocked to see the scale went DOWN 1.5lbs this morning as well. This is unprecedented for me, even last month I was up 2.5-3lbs for the entire week! Then I upped the fat...... My hubby thought I was lying when I told him about TOM, he normally anticipates a few days of Momzilla before, so he is quite happy with that LOL. |

I have done Weight Watchers for about 3 years with success, but in order to keep losing on that plan I must lower my caloric intake to 1200 and I starve my a&& off! So I have been trying low carb. No success so far. Do you think this will work for me coming off of low fat low calorie? Thanks

I think the Hellman's has a lot of other additives in it...corn syrup is one I think...or perhaps that is the one with olive oil... Check the label!

If anyone is still lurking on this thread, I made the mayo using 1 cup of melted CO (cocont oil) and no olive oil. I also had no dijon mustard but had Helmans Dijonaise so I used that. OMG was that good! If you haven't incorporated coconut oil into your diet, oh baby!! CO, bing a medium chain fatty acid, goes straight to the liver for energy. I had one heck of a time getting into ketosis but after 3 days of CO, hello, I'm moving up the stick. Check out the coconut oil threads. It will change your life. I was in a full blown stall but since replacing olive oil for CO, weight is falling off. Weird thing!

Hi Cindy! Yes, I like CO too and most of us on the EFGT WOE use CO quite a bit. Have you checked out our monthly thread?
Marching into Fitness Challenge You're welcome to come over and get to know us. We're not all doing EFGT but we all love to chat and support each other no matter what we're doing eating wise. Also, we're neighbors. I live very near you! I hesitate to post the actual town here and I see you don't have PM privileges yet. But we're neighbors!

Hey sjl330, Thats great that we're neighbors. You too must be sitting under a couple of inches of snow. I'm ready for spring. Seems it's going to be almost 70 on Thursday. Looking forward to planting a few things, mainly flowers and herbs as fresh herbs make a lot of difference. Want to try to make CO pesto. I will look at the March Fitness Challenge later when I go to work. I just ordered the book "Eat Fat, Look Thin" at the recommendation of someone on this site. You must have the EFGT book by Groves. I'll let you know how I like this book. I ordered it from e-bay last night so I'm not sure how long it will take.
