I don't understand....

Just started testing my blood sugar levels after being chastised by my Dr. in March. They are higher than I've ever seen them, so I'm back to low carb again.
I admit, I got lax and lazy while going to school....easy to pick up pizza, French fries....ice cream....you get the picture. A1C was up to 12 something in March, before that it had been dropping and was gown to like 7. Retested in June and it was down to 10 something, thanks to low carb.

Had a consult with my Dr.s pharmacist. She took a look at my results on my meter and told me to exercise to drop the scores. When I wake in the morning and take my test before meds and eating....200+. And, hitting the pool (just some moderate exercise, I know, but it's better than sitting in front of the computer), testing again, my BS does drop to 160-180ish. The other night, 2 hours after eating, I tested, got a reading of 140.

1) I thought my BS would be lowest after fasting (in the AM after waking)
2) I thought my BS would be highest after eating....

I can understand my BS dropping after exercise....you're burning the BS for fuel, the rest I don't understand.

I'm on metformin, 1000mg 2X.

The other day I didn't feel like eating before going swimming. So, after taking my pills and hitting the pool for an hour, my BS was only 180. I thought since I ate nothing, had my metformin, had enough time for the drugs to have an affect...it would have been a lot lower.

I'll be seeing the pharmacist again on the 26th, but I'm trying to figure out the logic of my blood sugar in the mean time. Or if my thinking is all wrong on how this is supposed to be working...
Forget 'Health Foods'. I'm at the age where I need all the preservatives I can get.
