High bs?

I was so excited when my bs were in the low 100's (down from 200-500) my first two weeks. Now for some reason, and I'm eating the same things, it's 254! The last couple days it's been up again. Why? It really bums me out!!

Is it your fasting that's 254? My BG does the same. It will drop then creep back up. One thing I have noticed is that it doesn't go as high as it did when I wasn't eating LC. One theory (and I didn't come up with this and I'm not suggesting I believe it enitrely) is that your body thinks your BG is supposed to be high (due to prolonged increased BG levels). As a result the liver releases glucose into your blood stream even when your BG levels or normal or even high. From what I've read on the subject, it just takes time and patience. Obviously if it starts getting really high again you need to talk to your doctor about medication and/or insulin. Good luck.

It was actually before lunch. It's a bummer because I was off all daytime insulin and now I'm back on.

Are you on Induction? What was your fasting BG? It's interesting that it spiked like that.

And I'm sorry you're back on insulin :\

If I understand things correctly, if you pancreas is not putting out enough insulin, it can cause your liver to release it's glycogen stores.

You might want to look into Dr Bernstien's book. I didn't work on remembering things about type 2, but I believe he recommends staying on insulin ( a certain type) for a while, to give your pancreas time to heal. Please don't quote me on this though, I may not be remembering correctly.

Yeah, I sent my doc a message first thing this morning, but I haven't heard back yet. You can't really stay on insulin when you bs are in the low 100s, but I definitely have it nearby for when I do need it. I'll check into that book. Thanks!
